The mess: there is a lot of mess. the price was somewhat high the bartender that took our order appeared to be in an altered state the bartender that took our order appeared to stick their fingers into the drinks they were making, not boding well for cleanliness when we came back after 35 min., the kitchen said "just putting it in boss!", and that was another 15 min. I was accosted by a drunk wanting "just a piece" the drunk was attempting a dangerous (to the pool table) shot, he missed the shot horribly, and got really angry I think I'll try less messy, but might be back. read more

Great food and friendly service. The Pizza is the best, absolutely fabulous thin crust pizza. Tuesday nights at 7:00pm they have a fun, all acoustic bluegrass jam (WSU Bluegrass Band) that is fun and friendly and easy to sing along to. Best of all, no cover. I'm not sure what the one star poster is talking about. I have never seen a fight, the staff has also always been personable and friendly when I have been there. Yesterday, while much of the East Coast was getting a too early in the season snow-fall we on the South Shore had high winds and a raging rain-storm. Late in the day, hubby and I took a drive to Nantasket Beach in Hull to watch the surf. The waves were high and pounding and it was exciting to be there with all the drama of Mother Nature unfolding before us. While there we ran into another couple we know who'd had the same idea. Chatting outside in a rain-storm with high winds is difficult so we decided to run across the street and grab a beer together at Daddy's Beach Club. I'll start by saying that I'm not a dive bar kind of a gal. No offense at all to those who are, but I've yet to find one that leaves me wanting to linger. This place was no exception. We walked in bedraggled and wet and perhaps that alone made this the perfect place to be. No one batted an eye at us as we bellied up to the bar. What this place does have going for it, was a friendly bartender and an eccentric assortment of fellow bar-flies who chatted us up. There were a few beers on tap, nothing thrilling though and a menu with typical bar food fare. We each ordered a beer and then a large mushroon and onion pizza. Our friends also ordered some jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks. Things came out of the kitchen a little too quickly for comfort. I didn't eat the sticks or poppers but the word was they were so-so. The pizza was a huge thing and was just okay. I had a couple of slices and called it a day.. It's a big space, with all kinds of twinkling lights and stuff hanging off of every rafter. It's very dim in there and I noted a small stage. Apparently some evenings, local bands play there. I felt glad that I didn't have to use the loo because it seemed like the kind of place you might not like what you find in there but in all fairness, I didn't see it so it could be clean as a whistle. While we were there music played in the background with some of the patrons trying to guess what year each song was from. We had a pleasant time catching up with our friends as we dried off. We enjoyed chatting with the bartender too but honestly, this is a place I don't think any of us would rush back to visit. We keep hoping Hull is going to surprise us one of these days with a great place to go, bar or restaurant. Sadly, that time has yet to come. We'll stick with the beach. read more

Disappointing experience. I was looking forward to sitting at the bar to have a drink and order some food. Bartender requests to look at ID when I go to order a beer. I'm 23 -- (my driver's license was still literally vertical) and he goes to inspect my card under a light, since they (clearly) did not have a card reader. The bartender denied my ID and thought it was a fake -- which sure, I look young. I get it. It was my real ID, so I wasn't lying to the guy. I could have had the police come to verify my ID. While I don't mind that he wanted to play it safe and not serve someone underage -- he did not have to be rude about it and act as though he was certain I was under 21. He waved my card around my hand as if he wasn't going to give it back to me, and only said "i can't" and proceeded to avoid eye contact while I thought about being petty and having a police officer verify it. I wouldve pulled out my passport if I had it lol. This is just disappointing. I totally understand not wanting to take the risk as the bartender, I just wish he was nicer about it. I had just gotten off of a really difficult 911 shift (I'm an EMT working in Quincy) and was made to feel bad about a perfectly legal license. I'd get a card reader if theyre misidentifying fake IDs like that. I really loved going there to stop in and get food but that experience rly threw me. read more

I well I ugh. I gave in. I went back. I should have never went back. All in 4 months. I now collect social security insurance money from the state. I am diagnosed with acute alcoholic issues. I lost my job as a attorney. My girl ran off with my drug dealer I thought I could trust with him with her during the day while I was at work. My car has been repossessed I can not afford it. I have a 18 year old pregnant that was sleeping in the men's room i don't even know her name. I got 2 different STD's and I wore protection. Hey, look through all the terrible reviews about rude people and drunk old men. They aren't wrong but this is a dive bar, that is what it is supposed to be. If you are getting mad at a dive bar being a dive bar, you probably shouldn't be there in first place. I'm not hear just to chastise yuppies but to let everyone know that this is the best Connecticut style pizza I have ever had and probably the best "surprise pizza" ever. By surprise I mean it is shocking such a great pie is served at a dirty dive bar filled with surly drunks. The pizzas come in size large and size huge but they are so thin they aren't filling so you luckily get to eat more than you think. The pizza is also cheaper than most places and you can eat it with a cheap beer looking at the ocean or take it home. Have fun. read more

Me and boyfriend always come to Hull to catch some waves and eat some good food. We hadn't been to daddy's and are so glad we gave it a try. We don't really eat cheese and we're worried it would be hard to order a pizza without cheese that tasted good. This pizza exceeded expectations. Dive bar in a good location with a killer view of the ocean and beach. I have had the burger and fries and it is just passable. In this day and age with the bar fairly high on Cheeseburger standards, I have to nail this one pretty hard with criticism. The chicken wings are a better option, but again just OK. Their pizza is what I like the best, not the best pizza you'll have, but a good basic greasy pizza that goes down nicely with a cold beer. For atmosphere, this place draws-in good all-ages crowds with some good live bands. One stand-out act is a band called RIOT ACT, a 3-piece Rock band, who play here 4 times a year. RIOT ACT always plays the night before Thanksgiving; that show is EPIC, don't miss it. read more

Ordered drinks and did not get them for about 30 minutes... once we got the drinks we ordered 18 wings a pizza and mozzarella sticks. The wings came out about 1 minute after we ordered and we got only 12 and they were ice cold. Finally got our pizza it was undercooked and the mozzarella sticks never came. She tried to charge us for 18 wings and mozzarella sticks so we told her to fuckoff and after a bit of fuss she finally took them off. It felt like we weren't even there service was horrible. Have been to Nantasket Beach a bunch of times but have never thought of going in here until a friend invited me to hear one of his other friends band play. After going here once I wish I had come here sooner. The beer selection is pretty good. They have your standard selections along with some that you sometimes can't find everywhere. The wings are good and if you get 12 or more you can get more than one sauce. The honey BBQ, teriyaki and golden honey can't be beat. I think what brings me back is the pizza. Both the white and red pie are good. The flavor increases the more you eat so definitely have more than one piece. Three can finish the large. The pizza is a New Haven style and I can honestly say it is better than the pizza in New Haven. Yes I have been to Pepe's and I find it better. Decided to venture back to Daddy's as after my last experience where we just weren't waited on, I still needed to cash in my Groupon. We walked in around 5:30pm on Labor Day. I figured because it was on the early side that it would be relatively calm but boy was I wrong. For whatever reason, karaoke was already taking place at this hour so here we were, stuck with it again. It really was remarkable how absolutely SMASHED the people singing were at this early hour - so much so I don't think many of their words weren't slurred. I get it, it's a bar, but 5:30pm? There was a family with children trying to eat dinner, probably after a nice day at the beach. I will say that this time around, the service was 100% better. Our waitress was quick to come over, attentive and got our food out quick. The pizza is good, but not SO good that I would endure the atmosphere of this place again. Ours could have been cooked a little longer and there was an overabundance of garlic powder on both of our pies. I like garlic, but this was too much. If you want to try the pizza here, I would sincerely suggest calling ahead for take out. The atmosphere here, even for a bar, is pretty unbearable. read more

We always stop in after the beach & get great friendly service always. I asked for a lemonade for my son and they brought two. That was fine. We ordered a large pie at $16. We asked for half meatball and half olive. They charged us $3 for meatball and $2 for olives which was the cost for each topping for a whole pie! So the large pie cost $21! When I asked the waitress why we were charged for each topping for the whole pie she just shrugged it off and said "I wondered the same thing, but I've just worked here for two weeks." They could have just charged us the greater amount ($3) for the pie and called it a day. What a rip off. The cheese fries were disgusting. We ate a little on principle and called it a day. Ordered pizza wings & curly fries. The wings were delicious. I'm not a huge pizza fan anyway. We never received our fries, so we asked for the bill and noticed they were never comped off. Also I understand waitresses and waiters depend on tips for money but the 20% tip was circled. So when we told our waitress we never got the fries. She then comped them off and brought back a new bill with the 25% tip circled! She was very nice though and deserved it. Was very attentive for drinks. And also brought us fries in a to go box.
