    The booth side of Venus.

Came here with 3 bar pizza experts and really enjoyed their pizza. Total old school place with a bar area on one side of the wall and booths on the other. No one was over there so squeezed in at the bar, people were happy to make room for us. Super friendly woman working the bar, beers were ordered then we watched playoffs as waited quite a bit for a laced onion/pepper and my first pickle pizza. I'll def order it again. They were stingy with the onions which is a weird thing to be stingy with. The experts said it was one of the best they'd had from there A bit greasy a little crispy and really enjoyable.

True Score: 3.5 Stars Bar Pies The Venus Cafe is all about two things: Bar pizza and cheap beer. Sure, it has a few other items on the menu (including a decent Greek salad that sometimes disturbingly comes in a plastic container even if you are dining in), but diners mainly come here to grab some bar pie and a few cold drafts (or bottles). The Venus serves up your quintessential South Shore bar pizza, with a slightly pliable cracker-like crust, a rich tomato sauce with herbs and spices, and a greasy and golden brown cheese topping that extends to the edge of the crust. And like many of the South Shore bar pizza spots, you can order a pie with "laced" or burnt edges where they add more cheese and sauce to the edge of the crust and let it caramelize and char a bit for even more flavor. In an area that is loaded with famous bar pie joints, the Venus is the middle of the pack. I like the look of the place and the old school feel, but the pizza was a 6 out of ten and the mix drinks were a bit weak. This is a real townie sort of place, we got the "who are you" looks when we visited. We'd stop in again if we were close by, but not making a trip for it. Thanks

The sauce and toppings on these pizzas are delicious. The crust is more like a cracker. It doesn't have a lot of substance. It's very thin. The chorizo and red pepper topping was excellent as was the mushroom, red onion, and garlic. It surpassed locally the Cape Cod Café or the Lynwood. The lack of crust puts it in 3rd place tho - it's all about the crust! Great dive bar. Peter is great!

One of my favorite spots for bar pizza! I discovered this place as an adult but the pizza has this unexplainable nostalgic-quality to it, I feel like I've been eating it my whole life! The dough and sauce combo has a very significant and delicious taste, making it different/stand out from other bar pizzas in the area (in my opinion). I just love it. My go-to is always a mushroom or pepperoni & onion. My husband is from the North Shore and we introduced his friends to bar pizza by way of Venus. They loved the small size of the pizzas and were impressed with the flavors. Now we order it every time they visit us. This place is a must-try if you are into bar pizza!

The space is big and open, with lots of pool tables that add to the fun atmosphere. I stopped by on a Saturday, and there was live music, which made it even more fun--always a blast here. We didn't get a chance to eat this time, but if the food is anything like the other Goat City location I know, I'm sure it's delicious. I can't wait to come back when I have more time to grab dinner!

Decent menu, Lots of options, Love that they had a Real Roast Beef (I Live on the North shore so there is really no other version that is acceptable in life, LOL) Went in fat girl hungry & ordered way too many things. Two bites and full, but that cornbread - OMG... Steak fries boring & plain to most but my fave thing ever - these ones were good and their ranch was GOOOODDDD.... Dad said his chili was cold, but I didnt try. The onion soup was warm and had all the perfect amounts of burnt cheese... Service was fine, wasnt overly attended to but hey it is what it is... It def gives the "we prefer locals to other people" vibe... Giant space though so more than plenty of places to hang out. Keno, Giant bar area - And dont vape - signs all over the bathroom - apparently thats a thing (do people truly still vape in doors, Who are these people, LOL)

Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite. During our visit, I witnessed the owner loudly reprimanding children and their parents for typical child behavior. Additionally, our order was not fulfilled; the steak and cheese egg rolls were unappetizing and resembled a processed paste, and the side salad was simply a mix of greens with ranch dressing, despite my request for balsamic vinaigrette. Furthermore, the owner's aggressive demeanor was alarming. He followed me outside, questioning where I worked and suggesting that I should endure the same treatment. This incident escalated to the point where he demanded $400 for wall damages that were nonexistent, as there was no visible marker on the walls -DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DRY ERASE MARKERS. or because the child wrote her name so small that even if it was permanent marker, you would never be able to see it, but they were doing something wrong and we did have a conversation with them. After they stopped crying because you screamed in their faces While I understand that children should not write on walls ( even though looks like you can and has markers on them), the response from the owner was excessive and disproportionate. I believe that a more professional approach, such as a polite reminder about the rules, would have sufficed. This experience is disappointing, especially since we had previously recommended your establishment to others and enjoyed our visits. For families seeking a positive environment, I suggest considering alternative venues, as our experience did not reflect the welcoming atmosphere promised. .

Apps were overcooked chicken fingers ...a very good chicken quesadilla and some pita bread with a blah feta cheese dip. Very good selection of beers on a side note. I got the bayou chicken with pasta. A very tasty creamy dish with a hint of heat. One other dish was a bolognese that I'm told is very good. Rumor at bar was that the burgers were the best around. I did see a flatbread pizza that looked ok. Also the chips and salsa has the thin chips ...not sure if they are heated though. Overall a decent atmosphere and pub food.

I was often confused about whether it was good or not. Drinks way overly iced, and not much drink. I came here with a friend, for my birthday. I don't know how to feel about it. Yeah, it's fancy, but is that what the price is for? If I was electing to spend my own money, I probably wouldn't come here, because the cost, price, and service was just not the value I'd have thought. The food and drinks, altho' pretty, were just OK. The service was mixed. Sometimes good, then suddenly nothing. We were so confused. It's like an emphasis on "the first impression" then slack off. But, "the first impression" comes off 1 way, then after the order is made, it's just not the same as when you just walked in. My friend got so perturbed, because she suffers from pain in her body, she had to get up, shake it off, then come back to sit down, 20 min later, and the server still hadn't returned, and she wanted the stuff she ordered & requested, which was stuff like condiments, eating utensils, napkins, and now just water, because drinks were really pricey, and still thirsty, (you know, the basis of stuff you're supposed to have, but were also requested multiple times, and assured to "be right back" then upon return still didn't do those basic things even with reminders & requests) and just getting antsy to just leave, but couldn't even do that, because she's just off somewhere else, do who knows what??? She didn't seem to be ill, didn't seem to be overworked or stressed, and I'm just TRYING to understand what's going on. I'm pretty lenient, but it just got really weird. I don't care to ever return. I'm sorry. I dislike writing bad reviews. I also don't like being harsh to workers, staff, employees, because I've worked service. I've also worked management, supervision, and owned businesses, and even worked customer service. For what my friend paid for of her own money, at my behest, I could've just waited for the following day and gone to "5 Guys" burgers, or the Brazilian joint down the street (which also has inflated prices), bought their expensive burgers, got a few drinks at the liquor store, and some sodas, been full, satisfied, satiated, and both myself and my friend could give each other authentic service to each other.
