Love this place! Been coming here since it was Castaways 20+ years ago... My husband and I came in for lunch and sat at the HUGE bar. We ordered the gold fever tenders and a pepperoni hot honey pizza to share. Both were great! Tenders were fried perfectly with plenty of gold fever sauce. The pizza is advertised as "bar pizza" but it was not a classic bar pizza with the laced edges, etc. but I still enjoyed it, nonetheless! Went by Barrett's for lunch with friends and everything was great. The interior was decorated nicely for the holidays, and they have special Igloo seating outdoors you can reserve. The bar area had plenty of TVs for sports but wasn't overly loud. Our server Lily was friendly and prompt. Everyone enjoyed their meal choices. The Thanksgiving Eggrolls were great. We were greeted immediately by Samantha. It was a super simple check in for brunch and set the tone for the remainder of our time here. Madison was our server assisted by Jillian. Both ladies were very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. The service was amazing; efficient and the attention to detail was very much appreciated since we had someone with an allergy in the party. The entire restaurant was decorated like hogwarts with Harry Potter and the goblet of fire was playing in the background on all of the tvs and speakers It was beautiful. All of the drinks were very good. We had butter beer, dark mark, Golden snitch spark and the and pumpkin pastie martini. The mocktails were very tasty as well. For food we got the Headmasters breakfast, and the Harry's Hot chicken waffle sandwich. Don't leave without trying the golden snitch cinnamon rolls. Perfectly sweet, warm and gooey. Went here for the first time. Overall it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Our server was painfully awkward but he was very pleasant. The food came pretty fast. The pretzel sticks were really delicious and the cheese sauce was amazing! But I got the Nacho burger and it didn't have the avocado aioli or guacamole that it said it would. The onions were super thick and the burger was thin and overcooked. It tasted fine but not amazing. Everyone else at my table really liked there food so mabey I just got unlucky. The inside was fine we were sitting in a booth. I appreciated the big menu with lots of options for the adventure eaters and the picky eaters. Honestly I throughly enjoy the gluten free pizza here. Every time I am up in the area, I make it a point to stop here (several times) before going back home. Good service, and a nice variety of activities to do here as well. The only thing that is disappointing is the gluten free pizza is different between the two restaurants. My friend and I had a great time at Barrett's last night. We chose to go there for the live music. The musician had a great sound. Our waitress was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We ended up sitting by the fire after dinner which the manager made sure to keep going just for us. We were seated in a booth by the bar. The atmosphere was very noisy, and the tables were very close to each other. I haven't been to the restaurant in over a year, and things have gone down since. Our server was slow but friendly and attentive. The lighting in the booth was so dark that we had to use our phones to review the menu. I am sorry I didn't take pictures. My husband ordered the NY Steak dinner with mashed potato and vegetables. It was served in a bowl of mashed potatoes, mushrooms, green beans, and gravy. What is described on the menu is not at all what was received. The manager accommodated my husband's request to serve it on a plate, not cut up. She also offered him a salad to enjoy, whereas we had our meals long before he would get his. When he finally got his meal, it was a 5 0z. Chuck steak, not a NY sirloin, covered in brown gravy and mushrooms. My meal was Chicken Piccata, again served in a large bowl. The pasta was swimming in too much lemon oil and capers, and the cavatapi was soggy because of all the oil. The chicken was delicious, moist, and well-made. It was the best part of either meal. I'm unsure why the menu doesn't describe the meals more accurately or why they would serve these in a bowl vs plated. Now, I will say that for four meals, a beer, and a glass of wine, the cost was reasonable at $120, but I'm not sure it was worth the hassle. This pub should update its menu to describe the meals as prepared or, better yet, expend less energy on the presentation and more on serving quality ingredients. I have a lot of great memories here, and it's one of the pivotal places for the BSU kids since it's relatively close to campus. I haven't been in a while and I'm not sure if they still do college dance nights. But it's the perfect place to watch Celtics games and the mozzarella sticks are phenomenal. read more

How do you lose a longtime customer? I called to book an event because the website says that they host events ( I attended one there a while ago) and was told that in addition to the $200, there would be a minimum of food needed to be purchased to have an event there to cover the cost of their expected loss dining room sales. He stated, off the top of his head at least 3K before asking about the event, the food, etc. No idea what I had planned but was pretty sure that they either didn't want the event or I could not afford the event... I don't know what happened to this place, but the food has gone way downhill, almost inedible, except for the wings. Waitstaff was very slow and inattentive. Barrett's Ale House is not gluten-free friendly. My friends and I ordered six pizzas, two gluten-free (98$ order). I had a friend pick them up on her way over, and when she got to the house, we looked at the pizzas and assumed the two smaller pizzas were gluten-free. Most of the pizzas were messed up, and the gluten-free orders ended up being the bigger sized boxes, and just a whole mess. After calling twice, eventually asked for a refund, which was granted by an extremely rude woman who fully talked back and hung up on us. To mess up orders is one thing, but to not label allergies is insane to me. Their customer service skills are atrocious. read more

I got to Barrett's tonight after trying to get into a few other restaurants with friends and them having an hour plus wait. One friend called Barrett's to find out they only had a 20-25 min wait around 7:30-7:50 Pm. We quickly went over there and my friend checked in with a host who said they would text when the table was ready. About 10 or so minutes later, around 8 Pm my party was escorted to a table for 4 in the back corner of the restaurant, near windows where there were tables outside. It was extremely cold where we were seated and all of us kept our coats on. Periodically, cold air would blow onto us. It was not pleasant to say the least. Barrett's was absolutely slammed and it appeared our waitress and another waitress were taking care of 10+ tables each. My party suspected that other employees must have called out and these waitresses had to pick up the slack. Our waitress was so sweet and patient however, I do not blame her for our overall experience. We ordered drinks - I got a screwball peanut butter martini, another friend got a chocolate toffeetini, another got a wachusett blueberry, and my husband got a Irish gold. All of our drinks were good. My martini was extremely sweet which I like, I'd avoid though if you didn't like sweeter drinks. My friend said the chocolate toffeetini tasted like chocolate milk. It took about 25-30 mins to get our drinks. Each drink came out one at a time, within 5-10 mins of each other. Our waitress apologized profusely and said that the bartender was slammed. It was awkward though for half of our party to have drinks and the other half to not have drinks. We all ordered food- classic burger for me with american cheese cooked medium, steak and cheese egg rolls for my friends along with a cheese pizza I believe. My husband ordered a jack Daniel's burger. Another 22 or so minutes went by before we were served food. There was no salt, pepper, or ketchup brought by the runner to the table even though two of us had burgers and fries. Thankfully a few minutes later our waitress returned to our table and brought us salt, pepper, ketchup and some waters. My burger was cooked medium which rarely happens. The fries on the other hand, not so good. They tasted very potato-ey and were bland, not crispy at all. My husband enjoyed his burger, and my friends enjoyed their steak rolls and pizza. The bill came to around $97 before tip, not a bad price based on what we ordered. Based on this experience, I would likely not go back. Management doesn't have a handle on the restaurant and could definitely make improvements as shown by working their servers and bartenders to the core, and having a poor heating system. read more

I had my daughters wedding reception here and so glad I did. I was stressed calling around everywhere until I talked to Sarah!!! She was so helpful from the day I first talked to her until the night of the party! I told her this was something i was doing all by myself so I was beyond stressed and she helped me in any and every way she could! I emailed her so many times and she got right back to me. Went to this Barretts 2 times in 1 day. 1st time about noon for lunch after a funeral service for some friends it was a fundraiser all day. Lunch was amazing. Had fish sandwich and fries omg i was in heaven. Cooked perfect and came out hot fresh and juicy. I sat at the bar. Because of this i came back that evening w about 15 friends riding our bikes to help w fundraiser. However that night happened to be a whole different ball game. The service was fine but we had a lot of issues with the food they ran out of some things before we get served some things came out over cooked or not cooked enough. They also had the bowls of chowders had to go back in to be reheated. We got the meal deal which meant you had the soup and the dinner and dessert for one set price which was perfect however some of us didn't get the vegetables or dessert we ordered because they ran out of what they offered they did however offer ice cream sundaes but if you're on the bike it's hard to take home ice cream sundae. I really thought I'd get the same quality of meal at night time as I did during the day but I guess they probably didn't expect the turnout that they did for that evening for dinner because it was several people waiting and they were packed but knowing what these people put into the town that we lost I would not have expected any less of a turn out. While I assumed this place was going to be similar to the Barrett's Ale House in West Bridgewater over on Route 106, it was considerably different in terms of restaurant style, interior design, and intended audience. This one was definitely more calm, relaxed and cozy. Not loud music blasting, spacious tables, or comfortable couch areas. This restaurant is smaller, and only includes a few tables and booths throughout a few separate rooms. The other location is much more open entirely. Food is just the same as the other location, still great variety of sandwiches, burgers, and more. Good value all around was what everyone in our party thought. Everyone was pleased with their food, flavorful and filling. No complaints from anyone. Service at this location was a tad slow, and the waitress did not come around as often as we preferred to address drink needs. She actually only came by a total of three times, arrival, orders, and leaving. Never came by to see how everything was upon delivery by the manager. Overall, it was decent, just a few miscommunication issues that should be addressed. 4 stars. read more
