Out of owners on our way to Newport, RI & we found this gem not far off the expressway. Must be a local favorite because at barely 11:45 am on a Thursday this place was filling up fast! Bring a big appetite, the servings are big! Our server Heidi was very friendly & polite. Thanks for a great lunch! My husband said "The Big Fish Sandwich" was the best fish he's ever eaten. When we were paying our bill she noticed we had points on our reward card that had not been used and realized we had not been getting rewards in the mail . Needed a place for dinner, drove by, and stopped in. Wait staff was knowledgeable, very pleasant, and attentive. We had a party of 5 and got seated right away. The decor is eye catching for sure! And clean - which is impressive given the large amount of memorabilia on the walls. The food selection is large with lots of great options. Our party got salads, fajitas, burgers, and chicken. Everyone was extremely happy with their food. Everything came out in a short time and was cooked perfectly. Even the folks who got salads raved about them! This is my go to place on my birthday, yesterday was my day! Hubby and I went out for dinner after work. Looking forward to it all day. We got there, got seated and ordered drinks. A most unfortunate issue had started just before we got there, the ladies room plumbing was backed up, which eventually hit the men's room as well. The two young ladies you had at front door were awesome, given the situation. They handled it the best they could! On our way out I stopped to express my appreciation (they "stood guard " so I could use the men's room before it went out of order). I work with the public and know how challenging it can be at times. This situation was absolutely out of their control and they handled it as best they could- smiles on their faces too!! Food is what you would expect at a local tavern, Fried, burgers, salads, things like that - menu had tons of stuff. The ambiance here is comfortable. Our waitress was VERY good. The food was not very good. They do have a lot of beers on tap. That about sums it up. If you want more: The meatball sub kept 'repeating' itself. The warm fish taco had a bed of cold, bagged, shredded cheese in the bottom of the flour tortilla. That came off immediately. What should happen is as you warm the tortilla, throw the cheese on there to warm that up as well. It's not at all spicy to my taste. A bit sweet. Place was packed when we arrived and had a line when we left so definitely a popular location. We were asked if a 'high top' in the bar was OK, or did we want to wait for a booth. As the bar is right inside the door I'm not sure how large the dining room is. The decor is nautical miscellany and dark wood. The background music was a mix or 'oh that's nice' and 'omg, who plays this song anymore?' Our waitress really is very good. The second beer ordered, same as the first, came looking cloudy. Tasted the same, but definitely not the same appearance. The waitress, after leaving it for us, came back to check and noticed it looked cloudy. She took it away and got another. She was friendly and attentive through out our visit. Rest rooms are just inside the entrance, off the bar area. The stall door closure did not 'meet up' with their other half so the door did not lock. The door is a snug fit with the casing so you can just wedge the door in place and it won't swing open. We used to go all the time. Food was decent bar food. And kids got an ice cream bar for dessert. The last time...After waiting a half hour for a table was finally seated near the bar with my family. Only to have the host remove us from the table (because he said there was a law that under age children can't be close to the bar). Was asked to wait again, only to start over on the waitlist. Wasn't happening, but did see that same host sit another family at the same table with children. It was obvious that they knew each other. Never will go there again. read more

The ambiance was relaxed and casual. The hostess and server were very pleasant. The bone in Buffalo wings were a great size. We got the chicken fajitas. They were absolutely horrible. They do not even give a full half of a chicken breast. The peppers and onions tasted like they were previously frozen. Stay far away from that dish. Usually the food there is descent pub food. In the past I have had their burgers and they were ok, I just remember them never coming out at the temperature that I requested. There has never been any food there that I felt I would order again or anything that I would crave there. I would probably be back if in the area and it was late night like my last visit. read more

My visit today wasn't particularly good. I ate here earlier this month and at that time the manager came over and asked about the meal and gave me an envelope. He instructed that if I visited again I should give the envelope to the server unopened and they would open it and we would win something. Discount on the food or something. So I brought the envelope and the server opened it and we won... free dessert. OK. Not very impressive but free so I'll roll with it. Then the meal just went downhill. Our server disappeared for long periods of time. When she was at the table she was very distracted by the Pats game on the tv and kept watching it rather than interact with us. Because of this everything took forever; drinks, entrée order, extra napkins etc. The wings we got were good. The burger my friend got was good. My quesadilla was ok but, I wouldn't get it again. We get down to the free dessert. There's two of us and it just says "free dessert" but, she informs us it's only good for one dessert. Super unimpressive. We say ok and order the strawberry shortcake. Again it takes forever and there's a picture of what she brought below. Ice cream is melted. Whip cream is flat. She brought two spoons and one was obviously dirty (caked on brown stuff). I'm giving three stars because the service and food I got the first time (burger) was better than this. We shared an appetizer of Buffalo Wings & Steak tips. Wings were seasoned perfectly with just enough kick to burn the lips but still enjoy. Steak Tips were marinated in there house sauce and bursted with flavor and not over cooked. A perfect medium was what I asked for and received. I'd say the second best steak tips I've ever eaten in New England. I'm serious these tips were amazing chunks of tenderized beef. Now that you've read this I know you want some of these bad ass steak tips. It's worth the trip for an eating session of meat pleasure. If not get the chowda and be boring. My first visit. The ambiance is great! Love the decor. Lots to look at while waiting for a table. Saturday night very busy with a 40min wait. I anticipated this as they don't seem to take reservations. Waitstaff friendly but not on the ball. Forgot water. Cheerfully brought it with a reminder. I ordered the turkey dinner. It came with a vegetable. You would think the waitress would ask what vegetable I would like. I had to ask the options. I asked for gravy on the side. It came with gravy poured all over. They happily brought it back and redid the order. Then it came without the cranberry sauce. I had to ask again. Hmm ...4 stars for the turkey dinner although the stuffing under the turkey gets too moist and mushy from the steamed meat. My friend got the shepherds pie. Very very salty. I would give it 2stars. Great if your in the area but wouldn't travel far for it. Went here to eat lunch with the husband since he works near it. During lunch it's free soup!!! So that's awesome. The service is really nice and pretty fast. I got the lobster roll and it was just okay. I'm not use to eating lobster roll with lettuce so that was different, especially since the lettuce was bitter so it didn't taste great with it and turned me off from wanting to finish. Went the other night during the monsoon rain storm so wasn't that busy. Have been a number of times before and i love the burgers. Always done right! Tonight was told no burger's because they ran out if buns. Disappointed but got something else and it was good. Notice manager (has beard) just walks around and doesn't seem to do much. As a supermarket is directly across the street if I was manager a trip across the street to buy some burger rolls would have been on my to do list. The manager was also telling customers they were going to close early because of "power" issues. Thats news as the power never went out. I noticed that once the employees learned this they started side work and basically good service and attention went out the window but i have seen that before at a lot of places. Very nice restaurant that serves up comfort food. Plenty of parking, and you can easily read if it will be a long wait by the volume of cars parked in the front. Easy to get to and three different sections, function room, bar, and restaurant area. Nice local Mickey McIrish decor. Friendly staff, always attentive. Good prices on everything.
