Such a cute small 50s/60s diner. Love it here! Very reasonably priced and you get a lot of food for your money. Great service and very friendly staff. Gets super busy around lunchtime during the week so get there early because it's a very small diner. Lots of fun 50s/60s memorabilia all around the restaurant and on the walls.

Date: 24-January-2020 Time: Lunch Total (before tip): $15.77 Server: Candy Grade: F I was yet again in a mood for some breakfast again this week, so I decided to check this place out. It had decent reviews and it was close, so winner, winner, breakfast dinner or lunch! I walked and was immediately greeted by friendly staff members and I was directed to sit anywhere I wanted. The look of this place is that of 1950s, which I liked in a sense of, I enjoy some of the retro things. I took a seat, the waitress came over almost right away, I ordered water no ice and placed my breakfast order (3 eggs sunny side up with Canadian bacon, hash browns and panini toast), I also ordered side salad with no olives, no onions and I am pretty sure said no cheese (it will be important later). It did not take too long for my food to come out. My main dish came out first, followed by the salad... I was expecting salad first and then the dish... But fine, not a big deal... One of the eggs was damaged and yolk dripping all over my hash browns and meat... And I look at the salad and it has cheese... Not a biggie, but I was pretty sure I said no cheese. The salad was alright, your typical salad. The hash browns were lukewarm, the meat was a little chewy and the eggs were so so, a bit cold as well. The toast was delicious on the other hand. I must say, I probably will not be back, as the toast and service were about the only two good things this joint has to offer... My bill arrived and I was expecting it to be about what it was. I came up front to pay and was asked if I wanted to put a tip on the card, which I agreed to, I asked the person to round it up to $20, when I got my copy of the receipt, it was $20.62... Apparently, there was a 62 cents charge for non-cash payment... WTF?!?! Please, next time tell a customer that you charge them for using a credit card! I am sorry, but this is completely unacceptable in 2020 to have that extra charge for using a credit card! Your prices should already reflect accepting the credit cards and if they don't (which by the way, I was at the other breakfast joint across the street and prices are cheaper there and they don't charge fees for paying with a credit card) you are not running your business correctly. Now, I am definitely not coming back to this place! F!

The pancakes and chilaquiles are hands down my two favorite menu items here. Their pancakes never disappoint in size (so big!) but so delicious! Their chilaquiles has the perfect balance of heat and flavor with each bite. Portion is big and your guaranteed not to ever leave hungry. This place is a perfect addition to downtown Batavia and is super family friendly & has that classic diner feel but with a modern twist. Great service always and Candace is always so friendly one of the waitresses here. This place is a gem!

I highly recommend their Mexican scramble (my usual) though yesterday I tried a special called the No Way Jose.

The previous time I came was post-comedy show, just for drinks, and the 3 of us all enjoyed our drinks then, as well. I had the Wisconsin Old Fashion and my wife had the Poli Old Fashion which was tequila based. Both were fantastic! We started with an order of their Street Corn Deviled Eggs which were amazing..super creamy. They do have a GF menu so my wife had a bowl of their homemade chili and I had their Italian Beef Bao trio. Both were delicious and very meaty. They have an extension whiskey/bourbon list plus their burgers looked amazing. We will definitely be back!

Our hostess for breakfast was wonderful - kind, attentive, friendly and made me feel like I knew her for years (thanks Melissa!) So many breakfast options available, something for everyone to eat, and gluten free options! I settled for the mountain house skillet which was so good, probably the best skillet I've had in a long time. My husband had the classic eggs Benedict. Their homemade jam was excellent (comes free at the table) and lots of coffee and drink options. Their pancakes looked so good - definitely saving for next time. Highly recommend!

I had a very disappointing experience at Buttermilk…read more The service was extremely poor. It seemed like there were not enough servers, and staff kept saying they were too busy to take orders because they had too many tables. We waited a very long time just for someone to take our order, and overall the service felt slow, unorganized, and frustrating. On top of that, the food quality has dropped significantly compared to previous visits. We ordered the Holy Molly, and it came with literally three small pieces of meat, which was very disappointing for the price. As a customer, it feels like the restaurant may be trying to reduce costs, and unfortunately that appears to be impacting both service and food quality. I understand restaurants get busy, but in this case the experience was far below expectations. Between the long wait times, lack of attention, and noticeable decline in food quality, this visit was very disappointing. I would appreciate a response regarding how these issues will be addressed moving forward.

Firstly, anyone saying the food doesn't taste good or they leave hungry is smokin crack ..... also,…read moresounds like you probably would of enjoyed a buffet instead. This place is incredible... the food is to die for. It's the first place I've been to and did not feel like bloated or so full to where I was sick because the portions were perfect. Nothing here fell short, in fact it's the first place in the burbs where the food wasn't overly salted or fried in some type of oil. Everything tasted fresh. The flavors were busting up in my mouth every bite I took, even down to snowball fight drink we had. I highly, highly recommend the bread cheese appetizer- this was something super unique to me as I've only had grilled up cheese one other time in Brazil, Queijo Coalho.... There was a beautiful twist on this cheese- crunchy, creamy, sweet, savory and the honey and tabbouleh were such a great finish to this dish. Pair this with the fresh bread and it was chefs kiss! We had the beer braised short rib and seabass- two completely different flavored entres that we absolutely perfect. The short rib you literally can't go wrong with- melted in my mouth with every bite - and hats off the the chef who cooked the onions so perfect to actually be able to taste them instead of just carmelizing or salting them! I would call this your typical Midwest comfort dish. The seabass was much different the salad was tangy with the lentils being rich- add a nice cooked crispy top seabass and you got yourself a unique dish of flavors that will have you thinking what's in it after hours! But the star of the show was dessert of course - OMFG - s'mores ice cream sunday ....... I died and went to heaven literally. I have never tasted ice cream that mimicked everything I've ever wanted my ice cream to taste like. It was the perfect temperature (trust me a lot of restaurants it's either rock hard or melted) this was epic. Creamy, almost pudding like and being able to taste every note was wild to me. The graham cracker - yes the freaking graham cracker was the best one I've ever tasted in my life. Clearly I've never had a graham cracker without preservatives before. The chocolate syrup .... Jeeze let me tell if I could swim in it I would.... The service was friendly, prompt and right on time. The server knew all the cues and timing of all the food to come out. She checked in everytime we got something to make sure everything was just right... you can tell she takes her job seriously but also knows how to interact with people - something a lot of servers lack these days so we really appreciated the service. As for the atmosphere- this place blows a lot of the chi city restaurants out of the water. The organic feel but fancy! Oh, and I can actually talk and hear myself think without blasting music over my head. We will be back ... but honestly please change nothing here- everything you're doing here is fantastic!

Service is VERY slow. Whether by design or intent, I cannot determine but if you're hungry, don't come here or you will be excruciatingly hangry. Understand that this is not a high table turnover environment. The dinner rush is not exactly witnessed here. Ive never seen a grill line have such a lack of sense of urgency but it quickly made sense as I recognized it had been 35 minutes since an order was put in. Aside from that also understood the food was absolutely amazing, is it worth the wait? Yes if you understand the length of time it may take to get it. Come here not needing to eat immediately and enjoy the ambiance, the drinks, be in the moment, and let the food be an afterthought. I will most certainly be back.

You can tell is it high quality food. - Waitstaff is stellar. Very attentive, kind, makes you feel very welcome. - Nice ambiance, very well kept. The Bad: - I made a reservation using Yelp two weeks ago given it is Mother's Day. Turns out reservation is meaningless. - Their site says they take reservations until 10 AM and then it is waitlist only. Mine was for 9.30, so within their reservations window. - Inspite of that, we had to wait 1 hour before they would give us a table. The hostess seemed to have completely forgotten. - People that walked in after us without reservations were getting seated. Since our party was 8, I can imagine them processing smaller walk-ins before us. I can completely understand that. - But 1 hour with a reservation is somewhat crazy. - The hostess was super curt and pretty much told us the reservation feature on their website is meaningless and they only put you in the list when you show up there. Then why bother to have it then ? OR atleast clearly indicate on their website that it is not a reservation. Would certainly try this place again because of the food & service. But next time, won't bother with the reservation feature on their site.
