Am a little late on this review (August) but it was memorable and very good breakfast/lunch food. Plus they have Bloody Marys on the menu so already a bonus in my book! I enjoyed the tuna melt sandwich and my friend had a chicken pesto panini. HUGE portions... I could not finish even half of the tuna melt. It was delicious, melty hot and reasonably priced. There are a lot of choices on this menu and a little something for everyone. The service is very quick and friendly. I recently dined here for brunch with a co-worker. We were seated immediately and within 20 seconds of that I had a full cup of (delicious!) coffee. As someone with a strong affinity to coffee, that's a winner in my book! Our waitress was very kind, worked hard and made sure we had everything we needed. The food came out so quick and it was delicious. I definitely recommend coming here, although I could see it getting super busy! read more

Worst dining experience ever. My meal came with hash browns. I was specific in the fact that I had particular allergies and it was repeated by the server. Get the food and I heavily taste said allergen. Server comes by and I alert her and SHOW HER Never in my life not only was an argument started over it. I was told I was wrong and then she picked it up off my plate and ate it and said that's not what it was. I said never mind. Unreal! Eating it off my plate?!? REALLY?!? Then literally telling me I'm wrong. As I continue on and dig through it, the allergen is in there even more presents and clearly visible. She comes back. I'm like well here it is again. She picks it up off my plate and goes and shows the manager. Nothing happened! they did not remake my food. Or offer to. They did not take anything off the bill, and then she started to give me an attitude about it I would never eat here ever again, even if They gave me free food for the rest of my life!! And the prices?!? OUCH! For that much money, I expect food that I could actually eat. I even complained when I went to the register to pay and they asked how was everything and they completely dismissed me so I'm going to dismiss them off of my places to eat based on my previous reviews, you can see I've had problems here before and it's a three strikes and you're out game here. My husband and I ordered breakfast takeout recently, as we have missed eating out at restaurants for breakfast since the quarantine/COVID pandemic.  We have passed by this place many times, but never had breakfast here.  It was about time, and I'm so glad we did. I ordered the breakfast burrito, but with chorizo instead of the sausage/bacon it normally comes with.  It was jam-packed with chorizo, they sure didn't skimp!  Ooey gooey cheese squeezed out when it was cut in half.  It came with hashbrowns, which were pretty good.  We both loved our burritos, but we could only eat half.  We saved the other half for the next morning.  It heated up great in the toaster oven. If you get a chance, grab a to-go container of their homemade rice pudding.  It was definitely up to par.  I make a mean rice pudding, and this was just as good! We hope to try the stuffed French toast next time.  We're thinking of ordering it on a Sunday morning to eat during our online church service.  It would make a great addition to our tasty 'I Have a Bean' coffee. ;) read more

I absolutely enjoyed everything I ordered from here. This place is pretty busy but they have lots of seating and their service is fast. The servers are pretty good about checking on you, making sure your coffee is refilled, stuff like that. The parking though isn't the greatest. There aren't enough parking spots so you'll have to use the other parking lots close by for parking. The skirt steak that I ordered had perfect seasoning - it wasn't drowing in sauce and it wasn't super salty unlike other places. They also offer cocktails, shakes, etc.- just a nice selection of drinks to accompany your meal with. Some items are a little bit pricey but you get good portions which make it worth it. Holy cow! Stopped here for the first time while spending a weekend in the suburbs. When I checked for directions on Google, Google warned that the business was "very busy" but I was determined to test my luck. I arrived, and with a party of 2, I was seated immediately. To start, we ordered mimosas. The OJ was pulpy and freshly squeezed! Water was served in a carafe with lemon slices. For my entree, I ordered the Stuffed Avocado. This platter offered so much more than I expected: whole avocado stuffed with two very generous scoops of tuna salad, red skin potato salad, cottage cheese, half a peach, a hard boiled egg, a wedge of watermelon, a slice of American cheese, two slices of raisin toast, pickle, and 3 kalamata olives. I could not even finish this platter and I took home a half an avocado with tuna and the potato salad. Additionally, it was all delicious and so fresh. For my co-diner's meal, he ordered a veggie omelette with sourdough toast and loved it all. The staff was friendly and the food was served quickly. This place is a big win and the prices are very affordable. I'll definitely return and am sure to tell my friends/family in the area! read more

went here for the first time in many years. They are very nice. They give you so much food you can't eat it all and it was so good. My daughter and greargrandbaby and myself went there and had a great time. Staff was so nice. Prices are a little high but considering how much you get it isn't bad. Last weekend I had brunch with a friend of mine at the Egg Yolk Cafe. We were going to Kline Creek Farm and faced with limited options, both agreeing reviews, pictures and the menu at Egg Yolk looked good. When we got to Egg Yolk on a Sunday morning, we were told it would be a 15-30 minute wait which seemed reasonable. When we were called to be seated, they actually had called us before another table and the other lady made a seen about us being seated first. We just stood confused as we honestly had no idea who was there first or what was going on...but it put us in an uncomfortable situation and I think their hosting needs to keep better tabs on things. Now when we were sat, we waited. A lot. Like 15 minutes before we were even greeted. And then she had to get us menus. After she dropped those off, it was another 15 minutes before she came back to us. It was a bit frustrating waiting 30 minutes just to place our orders. We finally got to order and the food was eventually brought out to us - again this took quite awhile. And she set it down and walked away before we had a chance to remind her we had no silverware. So we sat for another 5 minutes with our food in front of us but no way to eat. When she came back around, she was of course apologetic that she didn't realize we had silverware. She snagged it off another table and all was well in the world. I understand it was busy and it's a diner but there were some serious service flaws. For brunch I had a delicious ham & cheese omelette. The cheese oozed out of it when I cut into the perfectly cooked egg. Everything tasted very fresh to me, perfectly sized pieces of ham, very enjoyable. The hashbrowns that came with it were different than any I've previously had. The shreds of potato were more thick but still soft & crispy in all the right spots. Overall, our meals were good, service wasn't but it could have just been an off day. I wouldn't hesitate to go back but would prefer trying somewhere else before returning. read more

I came here to eat breakfast with my husband that is a first. I order the special two eggs, tow pancakes, and two bacons. I was so delighted to have had my order how I like it. I read of two eggs there were four. I don't like bacon so I had a substitute. I ordered sausage instead I received tow if those but they were a pretty size and very delicious. It came with fresh squeezed orange juice and fruit in the side. The pancakes were made to perfection. I was so happy I did not go to McDonald's by myself. My husband ordered stake and eggs. His order had 3 big platters one with his huge stake and fresh not frozen broccoli. One order of pancakes. On the third plate he had four eggs, hash browns and fresh fruit. Wow this was amazing. I had only had this kinks of breakfast in Canada back in the day. They give you so much food and is fresh not burned.. No wonder my husband was upset when we took him for potato pancakes at this other restaurant there the food was horrible he got sick and I just could NOT eat those sweet potato pancakes. I recommend this restaurant in a second. I did not know I had such a great restaurant walking distance. Yum. The restaurant is clean and big. It is also cozy. I give 5 starts it deserves it. Date of most recent visit: 5/26/18 This is one of our favorite restaurants for breakfast. The Mexican skillet I had today was the picture of perfection and tasted fantastic. The only problem I have here sometimes is the service. Our waitress was pleasant enough but after she served us our food, we never saw her again until the check came. Now understand I am a coffee fiend in the morning. Their cups are on the small side. I view coffee service as an important factor of patron satisfaction. I had to get up not once but twice to fetch my own coffee. And this is not the first time I have had to do this here. I dont find this acceptable at all. It's like they tell their staff to not provide more than two cups of coffee to the customer! So great food but stingy on the coffee. read more

we ordered our simple food- cheese burger and chicken Caesar salad and waited one hour and twenty minutes . when we spoke with the owners they were sorry. when we were done eating we asked the waitress for our bill and she said it was ok the owners comped it so we gave the waitress a double tip. when we began to leave the owners said no we had to pay, the just gave us one soda. I dine here about once every 4-6 weeks or so. In the cooler months my go to is the oatmeal. It is by far the best I have ever had. The chocolate chip pancakes are excellent as are the scrambled eggs. Great local small business. Highly recommended! read more

Have always been curious about this place on my way to the train in the mornings. Finally went in there and I was happily surprised. The food was delicious and the environment was cozy. But by far the best aspect of this place is the friendliness of ALL the staff. Even my wife independently commented on it. And this isn't the forced "nice-because-corporate-says-so"-type of nice -- not that it's a corporate locale. The staff all showed a genuine regard and attentiveness to its customers. read more

ANTS I'll make this succinct: We went in for lunch and were seated in a booth. I should have noticed the ant traps on the wainscoting and left immediately...live and learn. When we showed them a napkin where we had caught five ants that were invading our table, we were told "it's that time of year". By the end of the meal, the ants were actually crawling on our necks. Management was just "sorry". No offer to comp our meal and no doubt they seated someone in the booth right after us. Won't be dining there ever again. read more

I went to the Egg Yoke Cafe for the first time today. I ordered the combination #2 which included- eggs, bacon, sausage, and French toast. Overall, the meal was "eh." There was nothing overly special that stuck out about it. Breakfast is by far my favorite meal, so it was not as comparable to other amazing breakfast places that I've been to in the area. As for service, our waitress was good. She joked around with us and did not rush us which was nice. To add, she was on top of coffee refills (yay!) Overall, good but not the best. read more

Sorry that I'm not able to The Egg Yoke Cafe a 5 star review. We have gone there many times and have always enjoyed the food. But at our last visit when we received our bill the prices for our food were higher than what was printed in the menu. When I asked the hostess she flipped over the menu to show me where they have in very small print that prices are subject to change, and there was nothing she could do about it. She was rather rude, not someone I would want welcoming patrons into my restaurant. I suggested they update their menus and she said they weren't going to do that because it's on the back of the menu (rude and snippy again). So if you still want to go there for good food be sure to check with your wait staff if the price of what you are ordering is as printed in the menu, so there are no surprises when you get your bill. read more

First-timer. I've been driving by this place for some time now until I was able to finally get in there. Very glad I did. The space/decor is what I would call, "updated diner" and it's just perfect. Clean, good service, excellent portions and priced at about what it should be for what you get, I'd highly recommend this for breakfast with or without kids. Food: I had the avocado and bacon omelet with cheese thrown in there. It was huge. This option also came with a choice of hash browns or fruit and you also get a plate with 2 excellent pancakes. This is your typical breakfast / lunch restaurant, only open 6-3p. It's clean and the food is freshly made. Average price for breakfast, just started serving Mimosas and Bloody Mary's. On a Saturday or Sunday morning be prepared to wait but I have never waited more then 20 minutes. Service is always good. The bf and I don't go out for breakfast/brunch very often, but decided to treat ourselves this past Sunday. I know quite a few people who have gone here and have raved about it. Perhaps we came on an off-day, but I wasn't impressed. We arrived at about 11:30 which was perfect. We waited for a table for about 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad. Quite a few groups checked in after us, so I'm sure their wait was considerably longer. We were seated in a corner booth, much to my delight. I'm really not a fan of eating at a table in the middle of restaurants; I feel like I'm being judged. Tucked away in the corner is my happy place. After looking at the menus, I immediately decided upon the Mexican skillet, with my eggs over easy. I had a choice of pancakes or toast, and I opted for the later (wheat, not white).The bf chose a corned beef omelette with an english muffin. After much deliberation, we agreed to get a side of bacon to share even though it was almost $4. Our food arrived about 15 minutes later and immediately I noticed the absence of salsa, which is supposed to come with the skillet. After waiting for our waitress to come near us again, I finally caught her attention and requested the missing salsa. She asked if I wanted sour cream too, and I told her that I would. The bf thought his omelette was just okay, stating that there could have been more corned beef. His hashbrowns weren't very crispy, but rather on the undercooked side. While we were dining, the power went out twice, which caused some children at a nearby table to yell "what is going on here?!?" I thought it was funny, but I agreed with their concern. The bf immediately thought of refridgeration issues and improperly cooked food items. I don't know if this happens often or if it was a fluke, but it was irritating nonetheless. We managed to get through our meal and waited for the waitress to come by again. This time it took her much longer to make her appearance so we could request the check, which was frustrating because we had finished eating ten minutes prior. The buss boy attempted to remove my plate even though I still had half of my food left. I requested a box, and he brought one quickly, much to my surprise. I should have asked him to flag down our waitress. I will say that the coffee is good, but honestly I wasn't overly impressed by Egg Yolk. I thought my meal was good, but I've had similar items at other establishments, and I'd prefer going to those places as the service is better. read more
