The image shows a breakfast setting at Uncle Bill's Diner with a plate of eggs cooked sunny side up, a plate of biscuits and gravy, and a bottle of hot sauce. The table has various condiments, a basket of bread, and small packets of sugar and creamer. The setting suggests a casual dining environment with a retro theme.

We were meeting family and I chose Uncle Bill's based on the ratings and the old school diner vibe. It was tight getting a wheelchair inside, luckily there were people to hold the doors open for us. It looks just like a 50s diner inside, right down to the velvet Elvis painting. Cool. Our waitress was loud and a lot of fun. I like her. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. Meh. There was a ton of gravy, the biscuits practically swam away on a sea of gravy. It all tasted canned, though. Their prices are average. There was plenty of food for everyone, but I expected fresher and tastier.

I ordered the Iron Man omelette from the "Lighter Side" section, which sounds modest but clearly has superhero-level powers. Moments later, a glorious cloud of fluffy egg whites loaded with veggies landed in front of me like a gift from heaven. Now let's talk about the true headliner: the half avocado atop the omelette. Not the sad, rock-hard "maybe it'll ripen by Thursday" kind. This was an award-winning avocado performance. Perfectly ripe, green, and flavorful. The most perfect piece of produce ever produced. And then...strawberries, watermelon, and other tasty fresh fruit on the side. In February. In the Midwest. I don't know what kind of agricultural wizardry is happening back there in the kitchen, but I support it. As if that weren't enough, the waitress noticed my deep emotional commitment to hot sauce and brought me not one but TWO Cholula flavors. That's not just service. That's the kind of service that brings a tear to my eye. I was too overwhelmed with happiness to take photos, but let me just say it was an amazing lunch. Honestly, I may order this exact meal for my next ten visits because why mess with perfection? Outside of my ideal meal documented here, the breakfast+lunch menu is extensive, the daily soup rotation is strong, and everything about this place screams "small town gem." Came for lunch. Left emotionally attached to an avocado. 10/10.

The frappe was also really good. My friend ordered the avocado toast, which she liked, but her caramel macchiato was off at first it tasted mostly like milk with a little caramel. They did fix it though, so I'll give them credit for that. Only downside was she ended up feeling like she got food poisoning afterward. The egg on her dish had a thin film on it, so we're thinking it might not have been fully cooked, which is concerning. Service itself was good and the staff was nice. Parking was also easy, which is always a plus. Good food overall, but that situation definitely threw things off a bit.

Upon eating, THE WORST biscuit ever though it is dressed up nicely with all types of other foods with with. It's okay. The omelette was just okay, VERY plain regardless of all that was there. Oversized and big for nothing like alot of things in America. Red flag, they didn't do their own fresh orange juice, and usually great breakfast places juice their own juices. There's was again, just okay. And for the prices I can't give em an average rating at all and won't be back. I'm glad that years ago I could from the outside know these types of establishments just by look from the outside. It's the same with alot of things in this world

On this visit, we were with a large group seated in the smaller dining room next to the gaming room. The restaurant was full and the kitchen got backed up; a few in our group did not receive their food until after others had finished their meals. You get a ton of food; most lunches include a bowl of soup, fries and slaw. On a previous visit, I ordered a chicken Philly sandwich that was messy to eat but okay. This time, I began with beef barley soup that tasted like it came out of a red and white can, but the LA wrap was a winner and the accompanying fries were perfect. He suggested Teddy's here and I'm glad he did. The Gyros was recommended, and it was a good tip! Maybe the best I've had outside of Greektown here in Chicago. They touted their home-made soups, and the BeefBarley proved they weren't lying. Great Coffee as well. It's a homey atmosphere, most friendly. Tisha was a great server and the owner, Anna was very gracious. Alas, it's quite a cruise from Stately Breakwind Manor, so I don't know how much of a regular I'll become at Teddy's but it sure ain't because of the cooking which was grand! The onliest bugaboo-the parking lot is kind of small, and the place was packed. Had to circle for awhile and wait for someone to leave. Worth the wait, though!
