I first came here on Motorbike ride with buddies, and most felt they needed to take a doggy bag carton and store it on their bike?! Hilarious, but a sentiment to the value and the quality of some good griddle-ing. My mom used to say truck drivers and senior citizens are good indicators for a great restaurant. What a fantastic little cafe. The service is always fast and friendly. The restaurant is little and cozy so we were happy we stopped on our way through this quaint little town. We were there about 11am so one at the table ordered lunch and one ordered breakfast, both were very good and the soup served with lunch was very good. I'd call this the go-to spot for breakfast in Big Rock. Unassuming from the street, warm and welcoming inside. As small as it is there are three seating options: counter, booth and table. My hubby won a trophy at the Big Rock car show last week and the organizers left the trophy for us at the Big Rock Cafe (to save on postage.) So, we stopped at the Cafe today to pick up the trophy and ate lunch there. It's a homey place with an extensive menu. The corn beef hash is outstanding! I got it with cheddar cheese on it. Yum! My husband enjoyed his burger and fries. I bought my pancakes home and we are eating them now (for dinner LOL!) They give you TONS of food. You won't leave hungry, that's for sure! read more

Perfect little spot, second time we have been here! Food was amazing and we tried their breakfast over hard sausage with scrambled eggs delicious! Spoiler we just ordered it again, and they have the order of half hashbrowns half biscuits and gravy. Absolutely drool worthy! Service is wonderful! We traveled to Sugar Grove to look at a new Peterbilt truck to buy and ended up here for lunch. Big Rock Cafe is a quaint little place that was clean and had a friendly staff. We sat at the counter which was really neat. You could order breakfast or lunch. Since it was 9:30 am local time but 10:30 am by our Indiana clock, we ordered lunch. Our service was great throughout our stay. I ordered a Chicken Bacon Melt with fries. The food was steaming hot and good. My sister ordered a Cheeseburger with home made chips. A cup of soup came with it. She thinks it had ground beef in a chicken broth and said it was hot and tasted delicious. Neither of us could finish our meals; the portions are extra large. We would definitely eat here again. Restrooms were clean and looked recently remodeled. There were no issues with parking. read more

Cute little small town dinner, complete with seating at the counter, but the cook in behind a wall so you don't get to actually see your food prepared. I adore dinners that have the cook standing at the grill that is right in front of your seat at the counter. Service was prompt and very polite. Food is a little speedy, but plentiful. Came in after hiking in the area. Very tiny little place but a decent size menu. I had the breakfast 4 x 2. It comes with 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 pieces of bacon, and either pancakes or French toast. I opted for the cinnamon French toast and it was tasty. As it is a small place there is one server, one person preparing Togo orders/cashier and another in the kitchen. Staff was friendly. We rolled up on Big Rock Cafe late on a rainy Sunday morning. With socially distanced seating we had to wait 15-20 mins for a table. Service in this small cafe was excellent. We ordered an omelette and the 2x2x2 breakfast. The 2x came with two mini pancakes. They're not mini at all. Huge is more like it! The food here was good and clearly cooked with care. i am a big rock resident and have been all my life. we have one restaurant and we are quite spoiled with the Big Rock Cafe. I come here with my boyfriend sometimes for brunch and it's a very calming environment. The french toast is amazing and they have many delicious skillets! You can walk in and sit down and a waitress will come to see you in less than 5 minutes. My ONLY complaint would be the bacon. I'm an avid bacon lover and if you want a pleasant trip do not order the bacon, you'll be disappointed. I could not be luckier with the big rock cafe read more

Avoid. Expensive breakfast. I ordered breakfast that came with hash browns. I asked if they could add onions to the hash browns and they said of course. When the food came some raw onions had been put on top of the potatos. I assumed I would not need to specify cooked onions in a diner. But I did not say anything as I did not specify. When the bill came they charged $3.50 for onions. Plus they were surly. Not the pleasant small town diner you expect. Go to sugar grove cafe instead. My husband and I like to check out little diners for Sunday breakfast. I came across this one on Yelp and thought we may have hit the jackpot. We got in the bike and headed out. The young man who was cleaning off a table was very pleasant and sat us as soon as he was finished. You could tell who were locals because even if they were sat after us they were taken care of first. After about 15 minutes a young lady came up to take our drink order. She brought out drinks and by this time the locals that came in after us were already given their food. Our order was just handed in. When our food was brought out it looked great. However we had no silverware to enjoy it. Asked the server for water, more coffee, plain creamer (there was only 1 in the basket when we sat down) and silverware. Waited and waited. The young man who was cleaning off the table when we entered walked by and asked how everything was. Told him it looked great but we still didn't have silverware. He brought some immediately. Half way through our meal she stopped by again to ask how everything was. We told her the food was good but I would still like some water. I don't know if it was just the day or what. I don't see how everyone else's reviews were about great service. We will go back at least once more to see if it's a fluke. The 3 stars that I gave this place was for food and the young man we met first. read more

Local, local, local, and I've never seen anyone in there who looks like they write Yelp reviews. 29 reviews and a four star average. Wow! It's near where the family farm is and a regular stop for breakfast with the nephews. Has been for several decades. Great basic breakfast foods. Nothing exotic, and nothing wrong. This place is a fantastic small town diner that I've been eating at every time I find myself driving through Big Rock. Beware that if you go during breakfast times (early morning) on the weekend, there might be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. I rarely get pancakes as a side when going to a place like this, as if often seems like you're just getting a dry as a bone pancake that's been sitting under a heat lamp since the last time they decided to make a batch of pancakes... And while that might be the case here, the pancakes you get with everything are delicious. Biscuits and gravy are MASSIVE too, so make sure you're hungry. Docked a star because like many of these style of restaurants, the portions are just absurd. I wish I could just get a half order of stuff because I always end up just throwing half away as it's not like sunny side up eggs can reheat in the microwave very well. But, hey, if you want enough breakfast food to put yourself in a coma, and are in Big Rock, you'll love the Big Rock Cafe (or Country Cafe, I'm not sure what the "real" name of this place is). read more
