I can be pretty particular when it comes to... well, just about everything, and my hair is no exception. Marie Dietz-Meyer is the first stylist I've ever loved and really considered My hair stylist. I can't imagine ever going to anyone else. Marie always does exactly what I want, whether I have a picture, or several, often that look nothing alike. Somehow she always makes it look amazing. I have quite thick, unruly hair so blending vintage styles (my favorite) with something I can wake up in the morning and just go with is so important; and Marie does just that. As a colorist Marie is perfect! I get several compliments every week on my hair color. I love people to believe I'm a natural redhead. Since Marie started doing my hair I've even had other stylists not even realize my hair was colored. When I suddenly went from red to blonde and back, Marie was such a trooper and did a wonderful job on every in-between stage. When you go to Marie get ready to have some serious compliments on your hair cut and color! I look forward to all my appointments with Marie. This Review is SPECIFICALLY for Marie. I found her about a year ago from other Yelpers when she was at SODA. She gave me the best cut ever, and I decided to entrust my 1st time coloring my hair with her. That was the best decision ever. She listens to what I want and has given me the best advice regarding cut and color! If I have a suggestion or want something, she finds a way to make it work with my normal hair routine. I want to echo the love for Marie. She's amazing. She's both makes the 45-60 minuets completely lovely, and the haircut she provides is spectacular. She's so incredibly talented at understanding exactly what you're asking for and providing. More so, she customizes it so it suits you. I've gotten a few compliments on my hair since I started seeing her, which, you know, is nice. More than that, she fixed my hair after stylist who shall not be named at M&M butchered it (while extolling his own awesomeness). That's invaluable, and she noted how it had been screwed up, which made me feel vindicated in a really sad way. I followed Marie to Dada after Soda closed recently. I started going to her last fall, and my hair has never been better. Honestly, she is a miracle worker because my hair was in terrible shape before she got her hands on it. Marie is awesome - she has a great sense of humor and is so easy to chat with. I love her! I found her by checking yelp for different salons when I moved down here to Atlanta. Marie had more positive reviews than anyone else I saw while doing my search, so I made sure to get an appointment with her. I'm so glad. I used to get nervous when going to a salon because I feel like I would explain what I wanted done and then the stylist would end up doing what they wanted. Not at all the case with Marie. During my first appointment with her, she asked me what I wanted to do with my hair and it looked perfect when she finished! Even better than I hoped for. I will never go to anyone other than Marie from now on! She's the best. I was kind of clueless when I started going to Marie, but she gave me all of the tips and tools necessary to improve my hair. I have honestly never gotten so many compliments on my hair in my life. Marie has also made it clear that I am welcome to get in touch with her if I ever have any questions about styling or care. Unbelievably helpful! Dada is cool and the location is super convenient - just right off Dekalb. Parking is easy, which is a plus. I read all the reviews on Dada and made and appointment with Jessica. I was surprised it was a 6 week wait to get in, but I thought it was a testiment to her greatness. However, I walked out of the salon mortified. I have long dark hair and wanted bangs with ombre color... dark to light to blonde. I thought I did a great job explaining the cut and color I wanted but was brused off and told she knew exactly how to do ombre color. The color was exactly what I didn't want. Its a dark that fades in to a brash, light brown... yuck. The cut was even worse. I am 34 with a mullet. My bangs begin at the back of my head! I've been in the house for 4 months and searching for another salon on Yelp and I'm not sure why :/ Oh, a bit pricey as well. $180 for the color and cut, but of course you must tip on top of that... read more

If you need your hair cut or colored, most definitely book an appointment with David Armstrong. I can hardly put into words how amazing David Armstrong is. I wasn't even a client of his, but after getting my hair ruined at another salon, I couldn't sleep, so I texted his phone number at midnight. I sent him a picture of my grayish tinted, streaky highlights & he said he could easily fix it. Despite the fact that he books far in advance, he said he would fit me into his very busy schedule 2 days later. He was so kind and reassuring I already felt like I was in good hands. I went in 2 days later and he was even more personable and sincere in person. He is an absolutely amazing hair colorist. He went above and beyond. He has such a caring personality and tries to get to know his clients on a personal level. I am excited to continue to go to him to get my hair done. I understand why the Yelp reviews of him were so amazing and it is for good reason. Also the salon is extremely clean :). I Googled 'best hipster haircut in Atlanta' and Dada popped out. Sounded about right. After seeing stacks of 5 stars, I figured I'd drop by since I'm new to town and needed the drive. They couldn't take me right away (good sign at 11am on a weekday), so I went next door to the vegan bakery, Dough, which was surprisingly satisfying. When my time slot came up, I went back to Dada's and sat down in Dorothy Pinney's chair. She was great; sweet, pretty and turns out, very capable. She washed and cut my hair and even trimmed my beard like a boss (although she did look a little nervous). I'm happy to have found a great hairdresser so quickly. By some random act of god, I booked an appointment at Soda Salon and was matched with Jessica Dorman and I followed her to Dada. My first appointment with her she chopped all of my hair off and I ended up with the best cut of my life. When I decided to grow it out, she made all of those in between stages cute too. Rarely have I come across someone as gifted at their career as Jessica is. Plus, she's totally charming and so fun to chat with. Scheduling with her is super easy via email too. I don't know how I haven't reviewed this place before. I've been coming here for a couple years or so now since I followed Marie from Soda Salon. She's the only one who gets my cut and color just perfect. The salon is super convenient from the Inman Park MARTA station, and they have their space set up very simple but cute. Always great music playing. Marie always offers up magazine and drinks when she thinks you might need them, and seems genuinely interested in chatting with you while she does her magic. read more

woohoo... I FINALLY got a hair cut! I have a habit of waiting until I'm about to go nuts until booking an appointment. Anyway, I wish I could rate the stylist herself (Marie)... which is really why I'm moved to write this. The salon is nice. The decor is open and airy. I dig the disco balls that throw light around the room. It's pretty easy to find and although parking is on the street, it's not tough to get a good spot. I also really like this area of town with the parks and funky vibe. This place has an interesting concept in management, all of the stylists do their own booking, they pool money for beverages/snacks for clients, and check out their own customers at the end (insert awkward turtle). I didn't really like that part... it just seems kind of weird to tip the stylist directly after years of being conditioned to leave a tip with the receptionist; and by taking a glass of wine I felt like stealing her lunch money. Marie is worth it though. If your ends are split and roots are showing, I suggest booking an appointment with her and then going to play in the park nearby... immediately! read more

Marie is AWESOME! I have lived in Atlanta for 11 years, and have never 'settled down' with any particular hairstylist--they were always either not listening to what I wanted (and what I could do at home for myself when the haircut is over!) or they were WAY overpriced. Marie is the BEST hairstylist I have seen in Atlanta, and she is also one of the most affordable. I've been to the 'high-end' salons in Buckhead, and paid $100 or more for haircuts that didn't do much for me. I've also tried the 'cheap' route and gone to the schools (who butchered my hair the last time). I'm so happy to have found Marie--she's not ridiculously overpriced, and she is damn good at what she does. As a bonus, she has great energy and will always make you laugh. I used to dread having to talk to stylists for an hour when they were doing my hair, but I look forward to seeing Marie! David Armstrong is absolutely amazing! He's been my favorite for years. Not only is he engaging and talented, but he has a knack translating a client's (at least my) often abstract way of explaining what they want (e.g., "I kind of want a sexy foot soldier kind of look.").
