Overall poor experience. Instead of suggesting products to add moisture to my hair, the stylist shamed me for having "damaged" hair. Maybe she was having a bad day, but she was so rude that I was almost in tears. And the shampoo setup was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. I felt unwelcome and very uncomfortable while there. I'm not sure if Ellie treats all her clients like this, but it was a very odd experience and I will not be back. It truly felt like she didn't want me to be there. I saw Ellie as a new client. I came in with brunette hair with a blonde balayage that I wanted colored one color. I told her medium dark brunette and showed her a picture of chocolate brown hair. My hair ended up being black, which is much darker than I wanted. While she let the color set, she laid a random towel on my head to "trap heat"-- it was not secured with anything, just laid there. I've never had a stylist put a towel on my head like that. When she cut my hair, Ellie didn't even put the drape over me, so I got hair all over my clothes. read more

I had an appointment scheduled with K.D. on a Monday at noon. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment to a locked studio and no one answering the phone. Another client of K.D.'s let me in as she was leaving. K.D. told me she needed to cancel my appointment last minute because she was not feeling well (though she had just seen another client). When I asked her to remind me her name so that I could leave a review, she told me she would not tell me her name and stormed off. She was very unprofessional from start to finish. Love this hair studio! It's in kind of a weird location-my GPS got a little lost, but once I got there, the studio was so worth it. The interior is very clean, trendy, and cute. I worked with Jamie, and I got a women's haircut as well as balayage for the first time. Jamie did an incredible job, and she was fun to talk to as well! I've been going to Adore for I think about eight years and before that to the stylist I see here, Julian, for one or two years. Julian is fantastic both for his cuts -- I almost almost go very, very short, though once he helped me grow into a bob -- and his exceptional conversation and good vibes. The shop itself has wonderful staff and and a good atmosphere. Conveniently, you receive an email when you book an appointment in an email reminder when your appointment is coming up. Got a shag with K.D.. I expressed to her that I was worried about razor cuts, since I heard that they can wreck your hair with split ends. She told me not to worry since her razor was very sharp. Fast forward a week later, every single strand of my hair ends in. split end. Keep in mind, I don't color my hair or use heat, so I didn't have split ends before this. I had to go somewhere else to get a stylist to fix it. She was also a little sensitive and cross with me when I said the cut was a little too short overall. After reading other reviews on here, it sounds like she's just kinda like that. read more

I waited a few weeks to write this review since I like to see how the cut settles in and looks when I style it. I got my haircut by Jamie Malfeo. I scheduled an appointment online earlier in the morning and came in late afternoon. Seeing some of her work on her instagram made me feel assured she would do a good job. I really like it when stylists have instagrams since it helps me see what sorts of hair textures, cuts, and colors they can do. Adore is a super cute, high-ceiling, industrial salon. There's a nice little lobby and when you get there someone at the front desk offers you some beverages when you walk in. It's a little hidden away from the downtown Decatur area, but it's definitely worth visiting. Also, I had no issues parking which is always a plus. This may be embarrassing to admit, but I was a scene/emo kid with those heavy, side-part bangs where my hair was long in the front and spiky in the back. For most of my life, I've had bangs to hide my scarred eyebrow and giant forehead and I still love the look of a heavy bang. Since I've gotten older and started caring less about what I looked like, I let those bangs grow out and really just let my hair go. For the past year I've been trying to get those bangs back, but every time I've gone into a salon and explained what I wanted, the hairdresser would would very gently say that they think I should keep my bangs long and not so heavy, since my hair is very fine. Feeling discouraged, I would end up just getting a trim and some super long bangs that blend into the rest of my hair. When I went into Adore and told Jamie what I wanted she told me it was definitely do-able. She then proceeded to trim my bangs while my hair was dry, explaining that this way she could be sure it would turn out the way I wanted with how I style my hair. I really appreciated that. If you want someone that listens to you and delivers, I highly recommend Jamie! She even taught me something about how there are different shampoo types and alternating between a strengthening and hydrating shampoo/conditioner combo would benefit my hair. Anyway, when I first got them, I was very happy with my bangs and caught myself looking at my reflection instead of trying to avoid it, haha. TL;DR? - Able to book same-day appointments online. - Parking was super easy and convenient. - Listens to you and definitely gives you want you want! I literally waited 2 weeks to write this review as I felt possibly partly my fault. I got a last minute appointment on the same day which should have been a red flag. I have short hair but it was 3 weeks past an appointment and decided I liked it getting longer. K.D. had an appointment and I told her that I really liked it getting longer(bangs were to my eyebrows, hair to bottom of my ear. I asked her to keep it long but lots of layers. She was cutting like crazy, and I should have stopped her but I just assumed lots of layers. When she finished I couldnt even complain as what good would it do then! I also told her I loved her long bangs and how full they were and would love to work towards mine being that length. I am not exaggerating in the least - my bangs, even after 2 weeks are 1 inch long at the very most! She said she usually charges 75.00 but since she gave me a PIXIE it would only be 55.00!!!! I dont see how what I asked for could be misconstrued for a pixie with uneven sides and no volume anywhere! As I said, I feel like I should have stopped her. This was my first haircut since before covid. So, I know my hair was rough. I got a trim by Brian Waycaster and I am so incredibly happy with the cut. My hair looks so healthy and the cut is exactly what I hoped it would be. No, I take that back. It's better than I hoped. I just moved to the Atlanta area and was desperate for a new post covid hair cut and color. Maybe my expectations were set too high from.. well EVERY SINGLE OTHER HAIR DRESSER I HAVE EVVVVEEERRR been to. But Stephanie Erxleben was awful. I booked for a single process and cut. I wanted to go a little darker- not all over (bc summer!!) just some low lights. She insisted I shouldn't go dark and that she didn't even have time for it. I expressed how flat my hair color felt, that I'd previously been darker and loved it and asked for recommendations. She claimed I would only look good adding blonde and that is what she would do. Again DESPERATE for something new I was up for anything and said I just needed something different and fresh. I was optimistic and had faith she could deliver. An hour and a half later, I walked out w my exact hair color and incredibly disappointed- bc it's dull and boring and NOT what I asked for. She put in a few pieces of blonder dye. Though I may have shed a tear- I thought whatever it's clean cut & looks fine. As Stephanie was finishing I told her I couldn't see a difference at all. She said "oh come on right here" I said, "I mean kinda." She said, "I didn't put that much!" I'm like LOL yeah clearly. I know she could tell I was disappointed & I think she did take some $ off but literally $20 would have been too much for this train wreck experience. She acted high and mighty and spoke down to me the entire appointment until the end when she felt bad. Very much a know it all attitude... but high key did not know it all. I wouldn't have even bothered to write a yelp review even though my color was boring- my haircut looked clean and I just complained to my girlfriends and mom about this demeaning women. That was until a week post her dying my hair. Her blonde streaks, turned into exactly that-- STREAKS!! You know the look I'm talking about those stark yellow high schooler practically individual LINES. It went from fine to disgusting. Can't wait to go get my hair done again. Obviously elsewhere. I gave 2 stars bc I think other people in this salon seemed kind & like they had regulars. Wish I booked w another one of them. read more

I highly recommend Kyle Wilcox at the Decatur location! I went to see Kyle for the second time and both times I love my haircut. I've been skipping around from salon to salon, trying to find the right stylist who can cut thick hair. I typically spend $85+ on my haircuts since I'm highly picky about my hair. Usually these haircuts are downright awful to just okay and they are inconsistent. With Kyle - he really listens to you and give you what you ask. Now I hardly have to style my hair and it looks good even if I decide to style it or decide to curl it. He is definitely worth the money. read more

I held off on writing a review for a few days to see how my hair held up after washing/ styling. I came in to Adore and first of all it's so cute! Front desk service is friendly, and they have an amazing Harney & Sons tea collection and donuts from revolution next door in their waiting area. I was seen on time by Lucy, and asked her for a super short pixie. Lucky for me, she modified the cut for my hair so it didn't stick straight up. I saw Kerry Roy today at Adore's Decatur location for a bleach and tone color correction. The words I keep using to describe him is a hair magician, because that is truly what he is. Coming in I had about 4-5 inches of regrowth and my last color appointment (at a different salon) was a really shoddy highlight job. He completely transformed and color corrected my hair and now it looks super fresh and icy blonde again! Love it! :) read more

I cannot day enough wonderful things about this salon! I had my haircut with Jamie. I gave her a general length and asked her what she thought. We settled on some long layers. She really took her time to be sure my layers were natural looking. It did not seemed rushed at all like other salons I've been at where they always seem to be thinking ahead to the next client. When she finished, she made a suggestion to frame my face with more layers, and it looked AMAZING! I also really appreciated that after I told her I didn't use any product in my hair and typically just dry and straighten and am happy with that that she didn't push any products on me at all and styled my hair exactly how I would at home to be sure it's what I wanted! I love this salon! I have tried so many salons here in Atlanta, but they are usually just OK. I see Julian for my hair cuts and he is amazing. I always thought I had thin lifeless hair, but he has cut my hair several times and brought it back to life. I also had my color done by Jill and it turned out just the way I wanted it. The receptionist is always friendly which is not the case in many salons in the neighborhood. Also, since I hate calling on the phone to make appointments, this place rates high on my list because you can make an appointment online. I've been going to Adore Hair Studio for well over five years now, having been referred by a close friend. But while I love the space and location, the big draw is my stylist, Julian Brown. In fact, I even followed him when he briefly was at a different studio. Julian is unlike other stylists I've had in that he is never pushy, rushed or sloppy. His cuts are spot on perfection and precision, and you leave looking amazing, like your best self. Plus your cut grows in beautifully as time goes on. Julian understand all types of hair, its growth and textures and tendencies, and customizes his cuts and recommendations to uniquely suit your own. He has catalogued on his iPad a gazillion images of hair styles which help generate lively and smart discussions before he begins cutting, yielding the results you were either looking for or else, if you arrive unsure of what you want, the results you never knew you could have but turns out you needed. I've recently had some hair challenges resulting in my needing to pursue a shorter cut, and again, with this most recent visit, Julian hit a home run, and I feel pretty, and current, and stylish. Julian is generous with his time and expertise, and even in between cuts he will give you a "bang trim" which is in itself a mini cut, which helps extend your cut so you continue to look great between salon visits. This is the first place that has compelled me to write a Yelp review, if that tells you anything. :) Yesterday I saw Wendy at Adore, and she is just awesome. I have been in a hair rut for awhile and decided to try out someplace new, so the rave reviews of Adore on Yelp and its convenient location led me to this hair salon. Thankfully, Wendy talked me out of getting the haircut I brought in a picture of, saying it wouldn't work with my super-thick, wavy hair. Instead, she discussed a more layered look that would complement my face shape and hair type - one that would require less maintenance and frustration. Finally, a professional hair opinion! I am so glad she spoke up; that is what I've been looking for. Today I did my hair myself, and for the first time in a long time, my hair looked just as she styled it - particularly because she cuts it dry. It looks great, and the cut works great with my thick, wavy hair. I can even let it air-dry, which is great during these humid Georgia summer days. My only complaint lies with Yelp's categorization of Adore as a $$ salon. I would say it's slightly more expensive than that, but it's worth it. read more

I found Cameron through a friend of a friend. I have always been loyal to another, well-known intown salon. Recently, my long-term colorist left and I was forced to find someone new. After multiple attempts to get what I wanted from my "new" colorist", I had to walk away. (I won't go into the details of what my hair looked like in the interim, but in all honesty, maybe it was my fault. I didn't articulate well what I was looking for? Didn't show enough pictures? Not descriptive enough? Maybe in a previous life I dated their ex? Maybe they were having a bad day (days?) Regardless, it wasn't going to work!) Fast-forward to my finding Cameron at Adore. He immediately made me feel comfortable. He listened to what I wanted. He was approachable and real. He was with me the ENTIRE time. (I now realize the benefit of having the same person wash, color AND style my hair - and how much better I feel handing my money over to that one person.) And maybe most important, he took the time to look at his work and made sure HE was happy with the service he provided, and that he delivered what he said he would. I would give him a higher rating, but then I'd be afraid I'd never be able to get an appointment!! read more

So this is rather late but had some time to write a review. I needed a cut and color around the holidays last year and the girl that normally did my hair (at another salon) had moved to Dry Bar which doesn't do cut or color. (So bummed) I saw good reviews and decided to give Adore salon a try since it is literally 3miles from my house. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they were running a special for first time customers of half off any chemical treatment. I needed color so I thought perfect! Well I set up my appointment online and the times were all goofy. I had to setup color with one stylist and cut with another. The stylists were awesome!! Great cuts and color process...both quite quiet which made the whole experience seem like it was taking longer then it really did. Even though they were quiet, I was very happy with my experience with them. So for the stylists sake, I would have given this review a 5 but what ruined my experience and will make me NEVER return was the receptionist staff. Now I don't know if this woman was the manager of the salon or just a receptionist but I mentioned when I went up to pay that I saw they were offering a discount to first time customers. She looked at me as if I had 3 heads and with the most hateful voice told me that "this offer is only valid when you use the same stylist! You are not eligible for this offer" It's almost like she was accusing me of trying to pull one over. She continued "did you set your appt up online? Well then you should have seen where it says that the offer is valid with the same stylist" I'm just thinking...REALLY do you have to be a B****? It's sad that she was the last person I encountered at that salon because of her attitude, I will not be going back. All in all the stylists are awesome! I received a perfectly fine cut today but the real kicker came when I went to pay - upcharged $10 for a flat iron, which I didn't necessarily ask for but didn't decline because typically this is apart of the final styling stage at every other salon I've gone to. I don't have thick or crazy hair (shoulder length at best) which would qualify an extra fee. I confirmed the price of the haircut when I made the appointment so was a smidge peeved that this fee was added without knowing beforehand because I would have skipped this step and gone for a typical blowdry. Just a head's up for all to confirm the price of your cut, color or such. read more

Both of them are experts in their respective areas, and very helpful and honest in their suggestions and explanations. In addition, they are great to talk to! My difficult to cut wavy and thick hair looked great all day today without being in a ponytail, which is a miracle. My highlights are a beautiful caramel color and perfectly placed. Fortunately, I only had to follow her a few miles east in her recent move. And what a wonderful place to have followed her.
