I just visited here for the first time after some other women I know recommended it as a place to go in Decatur which is what I was looking for. I called on a Tuesday and said that I needed a late appointment for single color. They were able to get me in with Lori for Thursday. I showed up a little early and they were super nice. I was offered a beverage and asked to please wait while Lori finished up with a client. I only waited about 10 minutes. They have a bunch of magazines to look at, and get this, they are NEW EDITIONS. I hate when I go someplace and hey have magazines for months ago. Once I met with Lori and explained what I was looking for, she confirmed it with me and went to mix the colors. She was very friendly throughout the whole process and gave me a wonderful shampoo. She also dried my hair which was great. The price was very reasonable and I have gotten a ton of compliments on my new color. I highly recommend her. read more

However I feel the need to because this place is fantastic! Rachael always does a beautiful job with my color and styling. She trims my hair every once and a while because I am always trying to grow it out and she is really patient with me about it and everything else. She also cuts my fiancé and my fathers hair- she is really great with men's cuts! Additionally she styled everyone's hair and did our makeup for my sister's wedding recently and I've got to say I've never looked that good in my life!!! So I thought it would be a great idea to get a mohawk. You know, shave the sides completely mohawk. And it was great fun for a while. Until I had to grow it out. So I let it get as long as I possibly could (which really wasn't all that long) and then I searched for a stylist who could make me look good again. This is how I ended up at Sego Salon. I saw the owner, Kristy, and she did a fantastic job with extremely little to work with. I've been going to her or her twin sister Jenny as my hair grows out and both of them have done a fantastic job of gradually making my hair look less harsh and much cuter. I'm hesitant to post this review, but I am afraid that I did not have a good experience at this salon and I would not recommend it to others. My experience with Lori was sub par. I asked (and paid) for balayage and at best I received chunky orange highlights. I've had to go out and buy purple shampoo to wash out some of the brass! I was treated with indifference at best and was not made to feel welcomed. My stylist did not even brush out my hair (it is fairly wavy) before beginning to put bleach. However, I did see another stylist make her client absolutely ecstatic with her cut and color, so maybe I just came on an off day. read more

The salon atmosphere is great, everyone is very professional, and booking is so easy with their online system. I didn't come in for anything too complicated -- just 3ish inches cut off my long hair to refresh my current cut -- but I could tell these people know their stuff. Kami was wonderful and spent a lot of time styling my hair and making sure everything was just right. She could have easily made this an in-and-out appointment, especially considering I'm moving out of state and won't be able to be a repeat customer (though I totally would be). Instead, she spent a good 20 minutes styling and making sure my bangs were cut just where I wanted them. Highly recommend this place. Total for a haircut with Kami was $45, for reference. Prices are clearly stated on the website and at the salon counter. Prices differ from stylist to stylist, though all seem perfectly qualified. read more

First, I agree with another poster not being happy with the price increases- this place was never inexpensive, but it has become pretty pricey! Secondly, the person or persons setting appointments are not helpful at all - due to their inability To give me any options what so ever to get my hair done while my normal stylist is getting ready to go on maternity leave, I will be finding a new salon. Really love the laid back atmosphere here and how they always do solid work. Seriously, I've been going here for almost 2 years and have nothing but positive things to say about it. I've been mainly to Kristy (the owner, I believe) but Lori also did my highlights once. I go every 10-12 weeks or so to get highlights to hide my gray hair and to get a trim. With Kristy's help, I was able to grow my hair out and it's now the longest and healthiest it's ever been! I have very thick hair that requires a lot of color product, but the pricing has always seemed fair and generally quite reasonable. I never feel rushed or overlooked, either! A friend of my daughter's raved about Sego, and since I passed the little renovated house on N. Decatur Road every day, I thought I would give it a try. I was welcomed by a sitting room of aqua walls and yard sale furniture that was painted and upholstered to look darling. The sylists' room was small with the space for 4+ stylists, so there was enough bustle without that overwhelming noise and activity feel. Rachael was immediately on my wave length with my hair and cut it the way I have needed it cut for a while now. She also did color which turned out silky and close to my natural color. I think I have found my stylist. The prices are fair and the location is convenient, right across from Melton's. I really recommend Rachael. She is bright and knows her hair! read more

I honestly was completely shocked that at the end of coloring my hair, she tells me it's an extra $20 because I have thick hair, and then asks me if I want to get my hair dried. I of course said yes, thinking that was a very strange question, and then realized "wait, are you saying it's another extra charge to DRY my hair??" and she said yes, it's $15. That is the most insane thing I've ever heard, on top of the $80 charge for just a single color. I've always gone to nice salons and have never, ever, ever had to pay an additional charge to get my hair dried. I literally walked out with sopping wet hair, and couldn't even tell if I like the color or not because it's WET. I'm very disappointed and would never go back there. I get my hair cut and colored every few weeks. My stylist is great! However, the management at Sego has increased their prices two times in the last 5 months. The first increase didn't bother me because I had gone there for three years with no increase. The second increase I was told by the young man at the front desk that it was a seasonal increase. This was ridiculous. Sego is going to price this customer right into another salon. Also, about the young man at the front desk. When he first started at Sego, he was polite. He has turned into a rude individual. He has smarted off to me on more than one occasion. Sego wake up. You are not an uptown Buckhead salon. Your prices should be reasonable and someone needs to teach this kid some manners of you are putting him at the front desk. read more

I recently visited Sego Salon for the first time with my husband. Both of us had Lori as our stylist. I had a cut and color, and my husband had just a cut. Lori knew exactly what cut/color would look great on me and did a fantastic job. My husband is extremely picky about his haircuts and won't trust his hair to just anyone but he has found a stylist he can trust in Lori(and me too for that matter). Everyone at Sego is friendly and accommodating, and we were even given a glass of wine while we waited for my color to set. Very nice experience, we will both be back!! read more

Avoid this salon!! Thought I'd give it a chance since it opened recently. When I called they suggested an appointment with Lori. Although I arrived on time for my appointment, Lori did not appear until 20 minutes after my appointment time -- and when she finally did, she offered no apology -- and neither did the receptionist, who spoke not a word to me while I waited and never brought the water she had offered. I was wondering if Lori was ever going to show up. It was extremely unprofessional that no one addressed this situation at the time. In addition to that, Lori asked me to stand for the first ten minutes of my haircut. It was awkward and uncomfortable to have to have my hair cut while standing and turning myself whichever way she requested, instead of having a standard haircut in a chair. When I asked why I had to stand, she said that was the best way to reach my hair (which is just below my shoulders) and also that this is how they cut hair in Paris, France -- a statement I found especially amusing given that I lived there for 2 years and have never heard of someone being made to stand for a haircut in this way. Despite my stated discomfort at having to stand and have my hair cut in a room full of people, she continued. Overall, the salon has a sad, shabby atmosphere, and it is clear that these two staff members -- Lori and the receptionist -- take little pride in their work. My haircut was average -- but the experience was appalling. By far the absolute worst salon experience I have ever had. read more
