I called a couple of days in advance to make an appointment and was able to go in the date and time I wanted. The salon was easy to find in a small strip mall on Buford Highway. Inside, it wasn't too crowded. My stylist Nina and the stylist and client a few chairs down were all masked. Nina took a thoughtful and careful approach to cutting my hair, offering up some recommendations after considering variables such as length, thickness, and how I like to wear it. Dry cuts start at $35; mine was $50. I was at Q for about 45 minutes total but it was such a relaxing process that the minutes slipped by. I don't typically post but my experience is so bad I have to make sure no one else goes through what I went through. I wanted to try a salon that had lots of experience highlighting and coloring Asian hair. After looking at some of the pictures I went in for brown/blond balayage. I left with an all over off-color, weird reddish tint at my roots, and chunks of my hair burnt off. What a mistake, I have so many regrets. The stylist Nina was confident, almost cocky that she was going to be able to pull off what I asked for but she literally destroyed my hair. I asked for brown/blond Balayage but the color she gave me has a weird overly ashy tint and worst off she over processed my hair and parts of my hair broke off, at the length right above my ear. How am I supposed to hide that?!? Also that part of my hair wasn't even remotely damaged, it was virgin hair she started out with. There is also this weird reddish tint right at my roots, just what in the hell did this woman do to my hair?? She did really sloppy work and I should I walked out when my gut said to do so. ASK FOR KIM! When I moved to ATL in July, I was really nervous finding a new hairstylist as I had a grey balayage that was turning brassy. Luckily, I found Kim via Instagram and booked my first appointment in August. Booking is very easy - I usually just message her on Facebook and she is very responsive. Tip: bring photos of what you want - she is very honest about the condition of your hair and will tell you if the color/style suits you or not. Since my hair was in terrible condition, I told Kim I wanted the color to be brought up and my hair to be more gray. After 6+ hours in the chair (good hair takes time!), I walked out with a fresh new-do. For my first session, I wasn't able to get as light as I wanted to because my hair was pretty damaged, but it was crazy how light she was able to get it in one session. I saw her again three months later for a touch-up and she was able to get a beautiful ash grey this time!! After only two sessions!! The last salon I went to back at home told me it would take nearly a year to achieve the color I wanted, so I was super impressed (and my hair wasn't dead either!!) As long as you take care of your hair properly with the proper shampoo and hair masks, the color can last a long time. Grey usually fades very quickly, but even when the color does fade, it still looks great! Pricing is very reasonable for the amount of work she puts into your hair. The most I paid was the first time I visited, but each visit the price goes down a little bit because there's less bleach used. I hate getting my hair cut but it's a necessary evil that must be done. My hair was getting too long and was half bleach blond. It was time. I wanted something that wasn't too far from home so I googled and yelped. Q Hair Studio popped up and I saw it had great reviews, that's all I needed to know before making my appointment. On the day of, I had no idea who was cutting my hair or what to expect. I just walked in and was instantly greeted by Quyen. She was super friendly and professional. She sat me down and asked what I was looking for. I showed her some examples of what I was considering and told her I wanted a style that was super low maintenance. I am NOTORIOUS for salon hopping and a terrible habit of doing my hair color at home which is a MAJOR NO-NO when you're a bleached-blonde Asian. Kim to the rescue! She had done an updo for me for a wedding almost a year ago and she was super meticulous and did a BEAUTIFUL job. So when it was time to re-do my blonde, I scheduled an appointment with Kim based off the amazing work I saw on her IG. She can be easily reached via text messaging which makes it super easy. The salon is located in a small shopping center, Just look for Chateau Saigon. It's not the fanciest salon but it's clean and gets the job done. I had already texted her a picture of what I wanted done to my hair. Going from my yellow-blonde to a more white/silver-blonde. Definitely bring a photo of what you want since things can be hard to explain. She took her time and was super patient with me, making sure we were doing exactly what I wanted. She's also incredibly sweet and friendly. I also appreciated her honesty! She will not do something if she believes it will severely damage your hair. Be warned, they don't use Olaplex here but my hair actually turned out better than it had ever been despite being bleached again. Must be whatever type of products they use. I showed Kim a few pictures of balayage highlights that I liked and she gave me her honest opinion of what colors would look good on me and what colors would "fight" with my hair. I think this was the first time in my life I've walked out of a studio not only satisfied but happy about my hair. I went in knowing I wanted to get it colored purple (a radical change from my dark brown natural Asian hair), but didn't know how to do it. I've heard good things about this place and wanted somewhere that knew Asian hair well. I made an appointment with Quyen and she knew what I wanted as well as how to do it. I ended up getting around 2.5 rounds of bleaching and 2 rounds of dyeing - after I realized instead of the grey/purple I wanted a more bold shade. It ended up taking a long time because time was split between my friend and I who both got our hairs colored. It also was more expensive than I had estimated but that's due to time, the number of bleaching rounds, etc. The experience was overall good- we were offered cookies and coffee because we had gotten hungry, and ordered UberEats... Will warn that you should have a generous budget if you are going to do a large change on your hair, and that you have allotted time as well. For basic cuts this isn't relevant. BAD PRICING and LONG WAIT if that's what you are looking for, then this is the place to be!! I was told it's $35 for woman's haircut on the phone before arrival. But they charged me $50 for shampoo and simple haircut. When asked why there is a mismatch between the price, they mentioned price went up (in 3 hrs!!) Talking about time, I had to wait for 2 hrs in the salon before getting a haircut even though there were only 3 clients at that time. A Vietnamese client walked in 10 minutes after my arrival and she got her haircut right away. They definitely play favorites amongst their clients. I gave them good reviews before, sadly enough... the quality of their customer service is inconsistent and they can screw you over anytime. Kim is so gorgeous and looks even better in person than her pics. She is so cute and humble. Just talking to her, I could tell she really cares and values her clients. She wants the best for them. Every stylist tells me I have thick hair. Yes, Kim said it too. I guess cause as I age, my hair is thinning out so I don't think it's thick but Kim says it is. My hair took a bit of work, close to 4 hours! Kim wanted to make sure the job was done right. She kept coming back and checking up on me and ensuring that she doesn't want me to come back unsatisfied. I had a party to go to later that night and lemme say that I got a lot of compliments. I found this salon on Yelp and am giving back. Staff are nice, masked, and good at what they do. I made an appointment with the owner, Q, and she lived ion to the reviews. I showed her a few cuts I liked, and she picked the one she thought would be best. Since I needed to be out of the salon at a certain time, she staged it so I got the cut one day, and the highlights 2 days later. Yikes. My friend and I went here for our haircut appointment at 1 PM on a Thursday. Although the staff is friendly, there were a couple of things that displeased me when it came to their services. First off, my friend was seated first to get her haircut. The lady who cut her hair was very friendly and accommodating. However, the haircut took 1.5 hours just to give her a trim. No big deal, we didn't mind the wait, but it just kept getting worst. While I was waiting for the next available hair dresser to accommodate me, a walk in customer came in. She was being prioritized, despite the fact that I was waiting for an hair cut with an appointment. The customer decided to wait outside but eventually left. Unfortunately, I was ignored and was still waiting for somebody to cut my hair after a hour of waiting. The available hairdressers knew that I was waiting for my haircut as well but continued to ignore me. I eventually got my haircut by the lady who was cutting my friend's hair. We were both in the shop for about 3 hours. I thought that was a bit ridiculous. Thirdly, the price! The price states that it is $35 which includes wash, haircut, and style. We were both charged $55! When I questioned why was it so expensive, the hairdresser stated that it was because we both had thick hair. My friend usually gets an up charge of $5-10 (max) more for her thick hair so it was no surprised. Also I had long hair so I accepted an up charge (even though I just got my haircut ~3 months ago). But $20 up charge for both of us is insane. I am disappointed in this and felt like I was scammed. To top it off, our hair is un evenly cut LOL. We both middle part our hair and both sides are uneven. My bangs were absurdly uneven. When I tie up my hair, my left piece of my bang sticks out because it was cut shorter than my right side of the bangs. Anyways, I'm just sad, disappointed, and felt cheated. read more

The color she chose matches well with my skin tone and her coloring technique adds depth to your hair, not something that looks one-dimensional. I showed her but she also advice me and let me know that with my hair strength and condition at the moment, she may not be able to achieve 100%. Q Hair Studio is the best! I always let Hugh do coloring and cut on my hair over the past few years, and he has never failed me. He is pretty good at what he does when it comes to coloring. It's pricier than some places, but you pay for quality. I enjoy going when they are not so busy, because it has been on time I felt rushed when they were busy. Nina cuts my children's hair, and they are mixed race (Black and Asian). She also has mixed kids, so she knows what to do with their hair. She is patient and good with them too, as they are 2 and 5. The owner has always been nice, personable, and nice to us as well. The interior is kept clean, bright, and never too crowded. I am so impressed by how my hair turned out today. I had gotten my balayage taken up 2 wks ago at another salon, and while the other salon is great and love the people there, I sadly ended up with 2 tones and a line across the back of my head with the top part extra brassy (when I was going for ash tones). I even went back 2 days later to see if they could correct it, but it turned out the same, just a little lighter. That salon was gracious and offered me a full refund, but I had to still go about looking for a place that could then correct what had happened. I did a deep dive search into yelp and google reviews of salons specializing in Asian hair, and after looking at the before/after pics on here felt this place would be a good gamble. And it paid off!! The tone is a little ashier in real life than it shows in the final photo, which is what I wanted. And Q knew EXACTLY what to do & explained the entire process to me top to bottom. She was very attentive to not just my hair and questions but so friendly to the many clients calling in and appointments and walk ins coming through. Hell no! As a new Atlanta transplant, one of the first things you do is try to find a good salon, esp one that is familiar with dying Asian hair. I booked an appointment with Kim. Walking in, you could smell the stench of burnt hair and chemicals (not a good sign). She was nice and all, but she legit destroyed my hair. I asked for highlights and, while she delivered on the color, the chemicals and toner that she used literally burned my scalp and dried out my hair. I remember tearing up in the salon because of the pain .. and she kept saying "Give me two minutes and I'll take it off." Holy balls, I've never experienced this degree of pain .. and I've had my hair lightened to platinum blonde without issues before. In the following weeks, my hair would fall out in clumps and become easily entangled. I was tempted to go back to fix it, but fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice, shame on you. I flew back to NYC to my original hairstylist and she was flabbergasted at how damaged my hair (now keep in mind that I tried to salvage the damage with Milbon hair mask and treatment). With my NYC stylist, we spent over 5-6 hours repairing Kim's damage with two Olaplex treatment and new color. My stylist mentioned how Kim's coloring technique might've been too harsh, effectively damaging the collagen sheath of my hair. Kim costed me $260 and she said it was discounted .. Well, she forgot to factor in that she costed me another $600 to repair the damage her work did to my hair. Wow. Clearly, I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. First I go to Yelp and scour through photos of people with the same hair type (fine/straight/Asian hair). When I find something I like, I look up the hairdresser's social media to see their other work. This may sound obsessive but my hair is like a cape for my head that shields people from how big and round it is. I take it very seriously. My first haircut in Atlanta was a disappointment. I was seduced by the fancy salons that serve you beverages and ended up with a haircut that was expensive and not very different than what I came in with. Behold! I find Hugh Cuti. I first scheduled a haircut so I can ask him if my hair was healthy enough to dye it purple. I had highlights done a year ago and my hair has grown out a bit so I needed an update. Hugh is very knowledgeable about hair and great at picking out what looks good on me. Sometimes I think hairstylists can get caught up in their image for you and it doesn't end up being what you want. The great think about Hugh is that I felt like we were on the same page after telling him about my previous hairstyles. After my haircut and Hugh agreeing that my hair was healthy enough to be dyed, I texted him for another appointment a week later. I like that I can text Hugh for appointments since I work in a quiet office and don't want everyone knowing my grooming. Anyway, the whole process took about 2 hours, which was really fast. My hair is super dark and stubborn about lightening, so I was impressed with how efficient Hugh worked. He's not very talkative while he works and I appreciate/prefer that because it allows me to relax. The location reminds me of other Asian salons I've visited, I'm not quite sure how else to explain it... but I think you'll know what I mean when you get there. It's not one of those salons that look like a real-life pinterest board. My haircut cost $40 and my color cost $195 without tip, which is great in my opinion. Quyen knows what she's doing when it comes to that beautiful icey blonde and also for cutting hair. I've been to extremely expensive places out in Philly to get *blonde blonde* with the rest of the Cambodian girls out there (I'm Korean) and I've also experienced a handful of horrible blonde colorists on the east coast that have over processed my hair. After coloring my hair icey blonde again with Quyen (God send!!) I've had other master colorists that weren't asian tell me whoever did my hair did a great job and did not over process. My hair color is so beautiful and soft. I walked out with purple hair at first because of the shampoo/toner, but it washed right out after three times of washing at home and out came the prettiest softest beigey blonde! I don't know how she did it, but we pushed right through the brassy color. And it's also not silver which I'm very happy about. Save your time and money and see her if that's what you're looking for!
