I would say this place is great for kids; I see a lot of happy adults as repeat customers, too, but I haven't tried it yet. Just a heads up to double check pricing before you sit in their chair. I was just over charged for my 6 and 10 yr old daughters that had a straight across the bottom simple cut by the only man that works there. One was a cut and one was a quick trim. They didn't even wash their hair and took barely 10 minutes. We waited 45 minutes while watching others get more detailed cuts for $25 or less plus washed. He spent almost a hour with a man including massage for $29. A man and his son had a cut, plus his daughter had her hair curled for $49 total. Their sign says kids start at $17 and he said my girls were considered women starting at $30 because they have long hair and they charge by the length. That's totally absurd. 6 months into the pandemic, I visited Hair Dream for my haircut. Happy to report that measures are in place to keep it safe for you, myself and the employees. They have done a good job and I feel safe. Here are the measures in place 1. Limited capacity. Only 10-12 folks in the shop including the employees at a time. The door is locked and capacity is controlled 2. All stylists are double masked. I don;t remember if they have gloves on or not. 3. Station is wiped down after each customer 4. Empty station in between stylists 5. Call in appointments are taken Overall, the service is still stellar and the safety measures in place are great. read more

I came to get my haircut at Hair Dream Salon two days ago, after not coming here for about 2 years. I originally found this hair salon about three years ago and continued coming here for about a year for all my haircuts, but I had moved and started going to a barbershop much closer to my new home. I wrote my name on the customer wait list and waited for about 3 minutes. While I waited I noticed that mens hair cuts were still only $14. After getting another good haircut from here a couple of days ago, I realized I should have kept coming here even after I moved. The barbershop I had been going to the past two years was charging in the high $20s for a haircut, and, late last year, went up to $35 dollars for a haircut, which I feel is way too expensive. And I had been getting my hair cut every month because my hair grows really fast. Now, after my most recent haircut at Hair Dream, I'd rather pay $14 dollars for a good monthly haircut than $35 dollars for a good monthly haircut, even if I have to drive farther. Price aside, I like how the stylists here have listened to how I want my hair cut. Two days ago, the stylist asked how I wanted my hair cut, and actually listened to what I said, because she cut my hair exactly how I described. I have straight hair, and many other hair salons that I've gone to have stylists who aren't quite experienced in doing a good job of cutting straight hair and I end up with a bad haircut. I've had bad stylists cut a little hair off here, cut a little hair off there, cut a little more here, cut a little more there, and continue cutting until what little hair remaining on my head makes me look like a hedgehog! Like I said, my hair grows really fast, so bad haircuts last no more than a week for me. This salon continues to employ stylists who know how to cut straight hair. And the stylist was quick, too. I only ever really get my hair cut here. It's slightly different each time, depending on the stylist, but I like it. Reasonably priced and quick. My only gripe is that the last time I request a stylist, they confirmed but when I got to my appointment, the person wasn't there. I went to Hair Dream on a Thursday at 10:30am because my husband told me they seemed to be practicing safe and clean measures for business. For the most part, he was right! Good things I noticed -- - cleaned down seats, equipment, drawers, handles, and floors after each client (not sure if my barber gown was cleaned, but I hope it was) - kept the door locked to prevent crowding, and only an employee can touch the door handles (so the client doesn't need to have contact with the door); - cleaned the pen I used before handing it to me; - cleaned my credit card before handing it back Not as good things -- -the doors are locked, but it seems they allow a good amount of people inside. When I first arrived, no one was there. By the time I left, there were total of 5 clients and 4 workers there. The space is about the size of a Subway or Chipotle. -my cut was decent for a place that usually caters to non-Asian hair. When I was there, I was the only woman client (and only asian client) out of 5 clients. With this considered, the cut was decent! (I asked for long layers, but the backside ended up very heavy.) I was desperate to cut my super long hair.. I had been holding out due to the pandemic. I'm glad I came here because for the most part, Hair Dream is keeping things safe and clean. I went to Hair Dream because they had the least expensive price. I was surprised that I got the best haircut and best eyebrow wax I've ever had!! The cost for both was $25. I have been using a shampoo and conditioner for hair loss and recently my granddaughter gAve me a formula for Hair growth that is amazing. It has made a huge difference. "You look pretty terrible and need a hair cut, ASAP." --My girlfriend. I've been cursed with hair that doesn't grow evenly (my sides shoot out like crazy), and it requires monthly upkeep for me to look somewhat respectable. So while in the Buford Highway area for a meeting today, I yelped "Asian haircut" and found Hair Dream not too far away. (Thanks, Yelp!) FYI, this Vietnamese owned salon is located in a strip mall off of Shallowford Road, and they take both appointments and walk-ins. When I came in around noon this Friday, it wasn't too busy. And luckily, the host assigned Michael as my hair maestro. He gave me a good shave on the side of my head and didn't chop the top off too short (like many other joints have done in the past). No non-cut strands of hair, either. He's also really chill, and knows how to make conversation with his customers. In addition to the cut, he'll also offer a quick wash and hair products. Total damage to my wallet? A measly $12! So I needed to tip $5 to justify this robbery. Wow! So. Affordable. I've found my Asian hair joint, and my adjustment to Atlanta is becoming increasingly more comfortable thanks to places like Hair Dream. I've been on the hunt to find a new hair stylist in Atlanta. I suffered some sticker shock while shopping around. My last stylist charged 40$ for a cut and wash, so when I saw that hair cuts were $60+ for the same I thought I might have to eat the cost until I came across this little gem. I did a walk in because I wasn't sure if they took appointments. I arrived around 1130 and waited 40 minutes on a weekday which wasn't bad. Each the stylists were with a customer and there were about 3 people ahead of me. My stylist was apologetic about the wait. Dream salon sort of runs on an a la carte menu. I opt to just go for a simple cut. No need for a shampoo and wash for me since I was going to go home and shower afterwards. If you're looking for a no frill quick cut, I recommend this place. My stylist was fast, so I was concern she might be cutting too much or not evenly, but I was surprised at how she adhered to the length I want and my layers were on point. I did not get a great experience at this salon. Girls, if you would like to get a hair trim for split end, do not go here. The lady started with a RAZOR for my side, the first second I freak out and told her no RAZOr cut. This will destroy your hair. I should have left this place when that happened. I did not. I sat there and continued the hair cut. She used scissor instead. I felt nervous and hair pulling the whole time. The scissor she uses is dull. Another reason for more split end. I came here yesterday because of Yelp reviews. The place is very clean and neat. Michael was my hair stylist. He gave me great wash. I had long hair. I asked him to leave my hair long and add layers. He showed me how much he will cut off from my ends, about 2 inches, which I was okay with. But the final outcome, he cut off a lot. He cuts great and surely is talented but I am really disappointed that my long hair is gone and I did not get what I asked for, which is why I am giving it a 3 out of 5 :( If he did exactly as I said, I would score it 5. I paid $35 (plus tips) for wash, cut, blow dry. That is my biggest struggle and fear when getting a haircut. Anywhere I go, I tell to leave my hair long but add layers but always end up having a lot cut off then I would go two years not going to any salon before regaining courage to go, only to be disappointed all over again. I find the cost of a simple hair cut ridiculously expensive. I got tired of spending $60+ every time I needed a cut. Someone had recommended this place to me so I decided I would give it a try. I've lived in Atlanta for ~4 years, and this is my go-to place for a haircut since I moved here. My hair grows super fast, so it makes no sense for me to spend a ton of money on a hair cut. Hair Dream does an awesome job at a reasonable price. This salon is in the Publix Shallowford plaza, so lots of parking. If you are trying to go on the weekend, it is best to call ahead because they do get busy. If not, you can expect about a 1-1.5 hour wait on the weekends. I've had pretty much every stylist cut my hair here-- and they're all great and pleasant to chat with! Everyone is extremely professional and knows what they're doing with hair. They are talented with Asian hair, but I see a lot of non-Asian folks in here for hair cuts as well. It's a very family friendly salon too, and they seem to do well with kids cuts. The best part-- women's haircuts start at $15-20 and go up, depending how long your hair is. I've never paid more than $30 (before tip) and I usually grow my hair really long before getting it cut. I picked this place mainly because they can handle Asian hair and there are compliments on their social distancing etiquette. It is true they practice social distancing very strictly: few people inside with 6ft distance between any two. And I got the best haircut ever. Just a note that I didn't do anything fancy just a cut. I still think they are good at doing more complicated stuff according to other reviews. My husband is happy with his haircut too. Great cut for only $18! Cindy did a great job with my layers and bangs, as good as a $75 cut in other places. They were limiting the number of customers inside, disinfecting between each client, and everyone was wearing masks.Next time I would make an appointment though as we did have to wait about 25 minutes before a stylist was available. read more
