WOW I AM SO THANKFUL AND BEYOND IMPRESSED! First off, the process of getting your appointment is so very seamless and pain free, they were able to fit me in on short notice later in the week that I had called, and were super open and upfront about the pricing, costs, etc. so I felt great knowing what exactly to expect and budgeting accordingly. Cheryl is so very sweet and kind, so I was very happy to speak with such nice front office staff, as other salons I have been too, don't always have the best bedside manner. Secondly, my hairstylist Randy is a SAINT from heaven above! MY FAVORITE HAIRSTYLIST EVER!!! Oh my gosh I walked into this appointment a complete ball of nerves because I had a HORRID last "Curly Cut Appointment at a completely different hair salon in Buckhead, 7 years ago, that resulted in my hair being severely choppy and uneven when I had gone in for layers. From the moment I walked in to Salon Skanda, the staff was so very courteous and kind, offering me refreshments and walking me to my chair YAY! Then, I was BLESSED with Randy who was so reassuring, patient, and knowledgeable!! A HAIR WIZARD!! He asked me all about my hair, what it had been through, what I do with it styling-wise, how my Wash Day routines go, what I would like to see from this appointment, etc. I was so happy, because I feel like at other salons, they only ask about the cut you want and then they go straight into it. Randy gave my hair much needed tender, loving care and didn't rush into cutting or manipulating my hair in any way. He suggested we wash first, and they offer an affordable special where you can receive a deep conditioning treatment that contains peppermint oil prior to your shampooing, so I selected that, and I was so at peace and so relaxed as he washed my hair I nearly fell asleep, which never happens!!! All my nerves had dissipated at this point and I was simply enjoying the service as much as possible and soaking everything in. Meanwhile, as he washed my hair, he asked me more about my washing practices and what products I used during the process at home, and he offered such amazingly helpful suggestions that will make my Wash Days magical instead of tiresome and laborious!! I left the shampoo bowl with squeaky clean hair, smelling like a spa, and super moisturized and defined! He was so very gentle as well. Once we got to styling, this is where I got to see the magic happening with my own eyes! He worked through each and every part of my hair, leaving no section ignored or neglected; meticulously, he went throughout all of my curls ensuring that each ringlet was properly coated with enough product of climate definition and zero frizz! By the time, he was done diffusing, I was AMAZED! My hair looked absolutely fabulous, smooth, shiny, defined, voluminous, and with ZERO FRIZZ! Even my hair shape itself, the reason why I went in in the first place, had completely transformed beyond belief! I walked in with an uneven curly Mullet, and walked out with the most PERFECT shape before I even got it shaped and cut. Then, when it came to the Big Finale that I was scared of the most, the Cut itself, Randy was so considerate! I was TERRIFIED, I had not had a haircut (besides trims I gave myself) in 7 YEARS, and my last experience somewhere else was an utter and complete NIGHTMARE, as I watched my ringlets fall to the floor in clumps. This time, it was CATHARTIC and THERAPEUTIC!! Randy let me hold up a mirror and see EXACTLY what was going on and what needed to be improved in the front and the back! There was no mystery, no vagueness, no guessing, I got to see everything he planned on doing and he explained why thoroughly, so by the time he was done showing me, I didn't even have any questions, which is unheard of!! Considering, I used to the the type of person to run away from haircuts, this was nothing short of a miracle and it was all thanks to RANDY THE MAGNIFICENT! Unfortunately the first stylist I went to didn't know how to cut curly hair. The owner was telling her to twist and cut into the sections of curls . Went to the owner the next time and she didn't know how to cut it either. Ended up with a poofy curly bob with a gap in the sides I guess she tried to fill by styling it poofy. My daughter who joined me were questioning why my hair was so big. read more

If you are African American Please do not go to this salon. After watching my favorite YouTuber I decided to go for a cut and highlights. I received the curly cut on one day and then had to come back for highlights. During the consultation I specifically stated honey blonde highlights. My hair was orange and the stylist Megan placed brown toner on top. I expressed my dissatisfaction at the appointment and came in to get it fixed after calling them. It was never fixed and I was told they will not refund my money and this salon is not the right fit for me. That was told to me by Cheryl. This establishment will lie to you and really don't want to work with you. They only want your money. Since she started with the wrong color and messed my hair up, the right thing to do was to give me my money back. read more

I was thinking paying $50.00 to just talk about a plan was crazy when I just wanted to get it colored was crazy. But I booked it thinking it was crazy . Every experience I've had has been great, from treatment to cuts, teaching me how to work with my hair, and so forth. Everyone is so wonderful and accommodating, and knowledgeable. I never write reviews, but I have to share this experience. I love my normal stylist at another salon, but have been wanting to switch to someone with expertise in curly hair. A friend recommended Salon Skanda. The only after-work appointment was just after the recovery time for a surgery I had scheduled. They texted, called, and emailed to confirm, and I confirmed because I expected to recover in time. The day before the appointment, my recovery took a turn for the worse--I was in pain, couldn't drive, and couldn't invert my head. I left a message ASAP asking to move the appointment. They have a high cancelation fee, but I hoped that since I couldn't keep the appointment for unexpected medical and safety reasons, they might be understanding. Absolutely not--the fee would stand, no matter what. I was already in pain and having a hard time, and then I had to pay $$$ to NOT receive services that I genuinely wanted to access but couldn't--that cash was more important to the salon than the hundreds a returning client would bring, I guess. For a place that charges what they do, I am surprised by their nickel-and-diming and disregard for client relationships. I, too, have policies I enforce at work, but the purpose of policies is to make your business stronger, not to punish those who have good intentions for now and the future. I cancelled my appointment, spent $50 on nothing, and delayed my haircut yet again (because I just spent that $50). I went to do a balayage, they scheduled me with Donna that they said she is a national teachcer and I ended up with a harsh line between the highlights and roots, and full of oranges!!! The basic thing in doing any highlights is to lighten hair without making it orange. Then after that the owner even did not want to listen to me, Crystal (who is a really nice girl and honestly tried hard) tried to correct the mess. And, finally still I have a lot of oragnes and the harsh line between the highlighted part and root. I paid 420$ and spend 8 hours there (from 1:30 pm to 9pm), my hair was processed three times. I had a severe headache the day after because of all process and washing. The funniest part was the owner who literraly avoided to hear me and talk to me, even not a single apology word!!! I went to Salon Skanda because it was listed as a place that specialized in curly hair, and listed a regular haircut ("barbering") which a lot of salons don't. The service was polite but nothing special, and the haircut was mediocre at best, certainly not worth nearly $60. The guy cutting my hair was clearly not practiced with a set of clippers and it felt like he was gonna take my hear off at points. Also this shouldn't matter but to me it does: one of the stylists had coily hair in dreads and all the others were basically pin straight - makes sense they don't know what to do with 3a-c hair. I imagine that this salon survives on harsh cancellation fees, inflated pricing, and the hope their customers don't know what a good haircut feels and looks like. Perhaps they're better with stuff like dying hair, but if you're looking to just get a haircut I'd opt for somewhere different. read more

5 minutes ago NEW I could not be more disappointed with this salon. As an honest and transparent review I will say that my first visit for a curly cut went really well. I was pleased with the stylist and salon. This was in August. Subsequently, came back in to support the salon and purchase products. Today I was booked for a color appointment. When I spoke with the stylist and inspiration I informed her that I would need my ends trimmed. She starts doing math in her white laminated paper then gives me a price. I had to ask her how much the trim was. She says "180.00" since I'm charging you for a full cut. All questions were answered with it the policy. I have never heard of something so absurd. When I asked to speak with the manager she wasn't there or able to be reached. At this point I lost trust in the business and therefore declined any services. I will not be having anyone performing hair care if they are truly not keeping customer best interests at the forefront. The stylist then tells me to check out at the front. When checking out her again tells me policy. Never once did anyone mention customer service to resolve this matter. He made a comment that a trim is bangs and neckline which is what I asked for. Stepped away to confirm with the stylist who reiterated that she would be charging me for a cut. Then threatened me that we will charge you 50% of the service price. I told him emphatically this was not authorized. Any unauthorized attempts would be declined by my financial institution. I have not received both a text and email from this company about planned charges. Be forewarned this company placed their business policies above customer service. They will have a reply with their policy. This isn't the point which is why I wanted to share my experience:) read more

I absolutely love this salon! I NEVER get my hair cut (like every two years), and they are the only salon I trust for both curly and straight haircuts. The employees always do a thorough consult and ask for inspiration pictures to make sure we are on the same page. I've been to Kristal several times and Tanzania twice. I brought three of my daughters here. Two received Precision cuts with Krystal & Shelby and the other had a very full-service Deva cut & consultation with Niajah. Everyone at the salon was very friendly and the front desk staff were kind & helpful, too. My girls love their cuts and we learned a lot about how to care for & style curly hair. On a practical note, the salon was clean and well-lit. They had a big selection of hair care products, especially for curly hair. There wasn't a lot of waiting room space so don't arrive too early. Parking was really easy. Starbucks is next door! Overall it was a great experience & we'll definitely be coming back. read more

I'll be kind and not name the hairstylist who did this. I had a consult w a hairstylist that I've gone to before for a cut. It was going to be my first time for color with her so I wanted to make sure that she could accomplish what I wanted. She showed me some pics and one of the pics had someone with ombré coloring, which I told her that I did not particular like. I was not being critical of her skills, just don't like that look. I left the salon with an appointment with her. Then, within minutes, I get a call that they canceled my appointment because she did not feel that she was going to accomplish what I wanted - basic highlights. Evidently, she was incensed that I did not like her ombré work. I just don't like ombré, period!!! I guess I can't give my opinion on what I don't like especially since it's her work. Next time, do the right thing and collaborate with the customer. Don't lay down your petty attitude and cut all communication. That's what children do. Grow up! read more

I was never loyal to a salon until Skanda. The staff is incredibly friendly and their products are top notch! They introduced me to the Deva Curl product line which has legit changed my hair for the best (I have extremely thick and curly hair). I now feel like I can walk out of the house with a little product and not actually have to spend a lot of time on it. Their stylists use Dyson hair dryers which means that they can blow out your hair wayyyyyy faster than other salons. My stylist is always Shelby and she is great! She is professional, sweet, and very talented. I am always extremely satisfied with my haircut. Cheryl at the front desk is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet and is such an asset to the company. Salon Skanda knows customer service - my appointment is always on time, they are up front with the charges, and even give out little gift bags during the holidays. Aside from giving my curls the best hair cut ever, Felistas educated me so much on my curl and gave me some great techniques to help me style my hair at home. Learn from my mistake! If you care about your hair, time, & money do not go to this salon. I think the pictures below say it all; however, I will give you a little background on this review. I went into this salon with previously never dyed hair and walked out with both a horrible cut and color. After speaking with the hair dresser and showing him the coloring I wanted (featured in the pictures below) he suggested balayage to achieve this desired look. Obviously, the desired color was no where close to being achieved. The next day I called the salon and asked for a partial refund of my almost $300 appointment due to the fact that I would have to get a color correction done. They said no and only offered their services to fix the mess they had made. Why would I trust this salon with my hair again when they evidently have no idea what they're doing? Horrible service. I recieved a botched haircut my greys were not covered properly and my highlights did not start at root as requested. They told me to come in and my hairdresser said she would fix the front highlights but not the back because she did not have time and the owner just let me walk out and no one called me. Honestly, by far the WORST salon I've ever been to!! The stylist misguided me before my hair got done about he expected output! Which looked fine after she set it, and after I got home and the setting wore off, it was like as if no work had been done! And I felt completely ripped off! I wouldn't mind spending any amount of money where the quality and work speaks for it. Very very disappointing and unprofessional service. The partner Robert actually called me up and THREATENED me because of this Yelp post. He painted a false scenario of me to make his Salon look good. I can't say better things about this salon. So I came in as a new patient needing a color correction. Another salon previously dyed my hair like a bronze red-Orange color, when I was going for caramel. It was horrific. Anyways, so I needed a salon to fix this hair color ASAP. I called Salon Skanda, they were able to get me in for a consult the same evening, and even detoxed some of my hair that night. The colorists like to do consults first with new patients which I think is awesome, and they are appointment only. The next day I come in for a color correction, and they definitely corrected it! I left feeling so beautiful, I love the work they did on my hair. They gave me exactly what I was looking for. I also appreciate how every staff member comes up to you and gets to know you. After waiting for 3 months, I got an appointment with Kevin for permanent straightening of my hair. It was December 11, 2019 when I took the service. The salon charged 543 dollars for the services provided and recommended products. They said that the hair will remain straight for 6-8 months. Within 2 weeks of the service, my hair turned wavy, very dry and hair fall started. I lost significant amount of hair after the service. On December 31, 2019, I personally went to the salon and told the lady on reception about my hair issue. She said that there is huge rush because of new year eve and Kevin is busy with a client. So, she would talk to him later and give me a call back. However, I never got a call from Salon Skanda. I went personally again on January 26, 2020. I showed my hair to Krystal since Kevin was not there in salon. She listened to my concerns and agreed that my hair is wavy and the results are bad. However, since Kevin was on leave and he was the one who did my service, she said that she will consult Kevin and let me know what he decides. I did not receive any call from the salon. Again, I waited for one week and finally, called Salon Skanda myself. I was told that Kevin is on vacation and once he is back I will get a resolution. Finally, I got a call from Salon Skanda on February 6th and they wanted me to get the service redone. Cheryl - the owner gave me two slots for redoing the service. One on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 and the other on Valentine's Day ie February 14, 2020. I requested Cheryl several times that I am not available on the 2 given slots. I told her that I was having important meetings and I cannot take a day off. It was not possible for me to cancel those meetings in such a short notice. But, she was not ready to give me a date in next week. She was very rude and unprofessional to me. Moreover, they were giving me a new stylist Randy for the service. I was not comfortable applying harsh chemicals on my hair again and that too experimenting with a new stylist. But, the Lady was very adamant and said that she cannot give me a free redo service after 14th February. If I do not take the two slots what they are offering then I will have to pay 400 dollars again for the service. This was very harsh statement and treatment. This depicts unprofessional customer service attitude and money minded nature of the salon owner. Cheryl, the new owner was very rude and adamant. She did not listen to me at all. Finally, I asked her to refund my money. I cannot take harsh chemical treatment on my hair again and again because of the mistake of the hair stylist. But, she was least bothered and refused to refund my money. In fact, she disconnected the call saying she will call me back. But, she never called again. Finally, I went to the Salon personally on February 20, 2020. I met the other Cheryl, who was on reception. I explained her everything, showed my hair to her and requested for a refund. She heard my concerns and took pictures of my hair. She told that the salon owners are out of country. She will talk to them once they are back and get back to me. She never called back. Finally, I have received an email from Salon Skanda on March 8th, 2020 stating that: After careful consideration, it has been decided that we can no longer offer you service at Salon Skanda.  It appears that our relationship has reached a point where we can no longer meet your needs effectively. Unfortunately, these situations occur on occasion and it becomes in the best interest of the Guest and the Salon to part ways.  Instead of solving my problem and providing me with a solution, the salon is running away. They have cheated me , damaged my hair and wasted my precious time and hard earned money. This is highly unprofessional and unethical. I will never recommend this salon to anyone. read more

It started good and ended bad...But they did redeem and went good again! I was very pleased when I called looking to make an appointment for a cut and color and was able to get squeezed in within an hour. It was the first good sign. When I got there, Shelby was very nice and I explained to her what I wanted, what I was going for, the HORROR stories I have been through this year trying to achieve the color I have been wanting. So she does the cut and I'm pleased, puts the color in, and the whole time I'm asking a million questions making sure it'll look how I want it and I've told her everything I can think of. We get to washing and shampooing and she gives an amazing head massage that I've never had anyone do for me before and it's like heaven. She also uses Devacurl products and explains the process of putting them on and how my hair needs to be scrunched and all that. So I sit under the dryer for the final product and to take a last look at the cut..... the color is NOT as bright as I wanted. After I repeatedly asked and said I wanted it to be vibrant. I came in with reddish golden hair and she said that it was bright enough to make it vibrant. It clearly wasn't. Then she said oh it won't be hard at all it can be done in one appointment, I said: can you do it now then, because I expected it to be brighter... she says no we close at 7, but we can make you another appointment when we're free... me: so I have to pay, AGAIN? Her: yes, because it's not messed up you just want it brighter...... I TOLD HER I WANTED IT BRIGHT FROM THE GETGO!! I literally cried in the chair and ran out after I paid. This is the FOURTH! Time this year I have had to pay for hair that is NOT what I wanted. And she knew that so it made me even sadder that she didn't attempt to offer at least a percentage on a second service or something, anything. I'm just so hurt. I was really nervous going in and expressed it over and over and I still left unhappy, yet again. My cut is great. But my color is what I really cared about and I'm just so disappointed. My hair is really important to me and maybe it's me and what I want is just too complicated, who knows. Like I said, she was great up until my color was revealed. I feel that if you promise someone it will be vibrant and what they want, and they tell you it's not what they wanted and you SEE THEM CRYING, the least you could do is try to work with them on getting it corrected and not expect them to pay double for a service when they explained to you how they wanted it multiple times.. with pictures also. After writing the review, the owner reached out to me to make things right, and I was very appreciative, despite having to go through it all in the first place. I was able to make an appointment for the immediate following Sunday (so 2 days later) and go back to the salon for them to now fix it. I ended up seeing Donna, and we had another extensive conversation before she did what they called a "money shot" and basically lightened up 5 pieces around the face and reapplied the color to the rest of the hair. The color came out much brighter the second time around and Shelby was there to help, as well. It did come out a bit more Firey red by the time I got home, but since it has been washed a few times and has faded out the more Fire Red pieces, it has turned to a beautiful Burgundy red that I am pleased with. OVERALL, this salon did work to reconcile my original experience did so immediately following my report, so I appreciate the timely manner in which they reached out to me. And most importantly, I sincerely appreciate them for still having good customer service when I went for the fixing service and NOT treating me any differently! read more

I found a "special" on a Global Keratin treatment for this salon about a month ago and came in. My friend told me on the same day that she really needed a hair cut, so I gave up some of my appt. time for her to have that as well. To start, this place is in a great "location" but has terrible visibility. The actual salon is in an office park which looks like a law firm or dentist office. I can't imagine that anybody could really find this place for the first time without calling. I think they could double their business by having a better sign outside. When I approached the "office building" I was weary of how good this salon could be. Thank goodness I was very pleased to walk into a very modern salon environment. The salon offered me a glass of wine while I was waiting and I thought that was pretty nice. My friend went for her haircut first. She LOVED the results. This is a barber shop style salon so there are roughly four or five chairs side by side in front of long mirrors. Everybody is talking while getting their hair down and its a friendly social environment. I was next (for the keratin) and I have to say I really didn't like the results. The process was pretty painful and lasted over 3 hours. I really can't tell any difference in my hair except that it just looks flat and feels like it has product in it all the time. :( For $200 I wish I felt like I paid for something that was useful, but it was pretty much a total let down/waste of money I wish i could have back. That being said, the salon has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I don't like what Keratin did to my hair. The sweet girl practically stayed until 10:30pm to finish it (which is way later than they close) Overall I plan to stick with my usual salon for color but I think I would totally try this place out for a cut (since its close by, affordable and they did a great cut on my friend) read more

Salon Skanda is by far the BEST hair salon in the southeastern United States that I've EVER been to & I've been to my fair share of salons! I can't even begin to say enough about the Skanda team. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left I felt like I'd known these stylist forever & they care more about your hair than you do & let me just say I noticed right off the bat that I finally found The Salon for me! The Skanda team shows 110% integrity, amazing skill, & well thought out knowledge of what you're looking for when you enter the salon. I have to jump in and give my own review of this salon and its stylist Gwen. My coworker Christina has been going to Gwen for years and absolutely loves her - and I can first-hand testify that Christina's haircuts and colors, including the one she got last week, are always phenomenal. I can't wait to give Gwen a try for myself next time I need a cut. The proof's in the pudding: she knows what she's doing with a pair of shears (and I hear on the D-L that there may be wine offered, which is always a bonus for me). read more

I went to the salon about a year ago to get the Global Keratin treatment at a discounted Groupon price. I explained to the girl what I wanted and she mixed up the corresponding formula. When I left, my hair was smooth the way it should be after a keratin treatment. Understand that keratin treatments usually last about 4-6 months. The first one I had done (at a previous salon) lasted 5 months, so I knew my hair took to the product well. However, the treatment I had at this salon only lasted a month and my hair was back to being unruly and strawlike. I did not call the salon to complain assuming they would make some kind of excuse and not help me. When I became a customer they put me on their mailing list. After about 10 months, I replied to one of their emails and asked them to take me off since I had no intention of returning. The manager, Kevin, replied and wanted to know what the problem was. I told him about my keratin treatment and how the results were disappointing. He explained that GK had some formulaic changes and that they had other clients who had problems with GK. He said they dropped that line of keratin and were now using Coppolla and offered to give me a complimentary "do over". This was almost ONE YEAR after the initial service. I totally did not expect any salon to offer this after such a long time. He really flabbergasted me. I went for my complimentary service yesterday and Tera took care of me. She was very friendly, easy going, and took her time with me. It is a long process - almost 3 hours. Being a "freebie" you might expect to be rushed. But she did not rush me. She took all the time required to ensure that the job was done right. She was so patient. As Tera was finishing up, Kevin came over and apologized for my previous experience and thanked ME for giving his salon another chance. Again, I was incredulous. I was thanking HIM that he would care that much about the customer that he would offer to take care me after such a long time. If the Coppolla brand of keratin lasts at least 4 months, I will be back again. I live in Snellville, so this is a bit of a trek for me, but for this kind of service, it's worth the drive! read more

I have a very long and thick hair, and I haven't been able to find a good hairdresser that would listen to what I want and just give me a TRIM, in a long time. After doing a LOT of research, I came across this salon on Yelp and after having read a lot of good reviews, I decided to finally get a trim!! I called the salon at around noon yesterday, and Kevin was able to squeeze me in for a trim at 1:15pm on the same day. I was able to easily find the salon and actually walk to it since it's right by where I work. I was greeted by Shelby, right as I walked in, and she took a moment to kindly and patiently listen to what I wanted, and 20 min. later, she gave me the BEST trim and layers without changing the length of my hair! And I LOVE IT!! I was so happy that I decided to get a hair color touch up on the same day, and since Shelby was busy, Donna colored my hair.., and she also did a FABULOUS job!!! I love that all of the hairdressers work as a team and you can tell that they enjoy what they do and take their time in giving you the best possible results!! This is MY NATURAL HAIR!!!! no extensions here, baby! And, it's all thanks to Josh! I was starting to go bald from the horrible extensions and bleaching that it was time to try a new saloon. Thank god he put up with me for over five years because now I feel confident without my extensions. JOSH is a unicorn when it comes to coloring, that's how wonderful I think he is! :) Every penny I spent was well worth it.
