Most recently, I have been going to Amanda and we have been transitioning my hair from years of built-up dark brown color to a platinum blonde to blend in with my mostly grey hair. I've been going to Bob Steele Salon for years and have spent well over $5,000 there without ever leaving a negative review. Unfortunately, my recent experience with a new stylist, Gibelli, was extremely disappointing. I asked for creamy blonde balayage highlights and a trim, but the result was far from what I requested. About four inches of my hair were cut off, despite only asking for a trim, and the layers are uneven and inconsistent. The color work is also problematic. Instead of blended balayage, the highlights appear chunky, uneven, and several different shades, with orange tones throughout and large sections that appear to have been missed entirely. There is little to no blending. A close friend of mine who is a licensed stylist also commented that the highlights look more like traditional foil highlights rather than balayage, which may explain the harsh lines and lack of blending. I left the salon crying because of how much length was removed. While color can technically be corrected, length cannot be restored for at least a year, and I may even have to cut more hair to even everything out. The salon offered a partial redo, but I'm uncomfortable with that solution. I don't want to darken the hair (which would make it harder to lighten later), and I'm also hesitant to bleach my hair again only two weeks after the original service due to potential damage. When I expressed these concerns, the manager seemed frustrated and unwilling to consult a trained stylist about how the correction would actually work. It also felt odd that a partial correction was booked when I originally paid for a full balayage service. Considering the service cost nearly $400 and my long history as a loyal client, I expected a more thoughtful and professional resolution. At this point, I'll likely need to see a more experienced color specialist elsewhere to correct the color issues. Unfortunately, while color can be corrected, the lost length cannot. For reference, I've also included a photo of what my hair looked like in November before my December highlights with Taylor, plus about four months of growth. My current hair is actually darker than it was two color services ago, which makes the result even more confusing. The best salon in Atlanta! I've been coming here every couple months for the past 2 years to get my hair highlighted and cut by Dana. I have very curly and natural red hair, and she is not only amazing at giving me perfect cuts to suit my curls but she is a master colorist at blending blonde highlights into my hair. Dana is so sweet and is a perfectionist at everything she does. I always leave the salon feeling so happy and confident. She also recommended some curly hair products that I haven't heard of before and they're my new favorite now! Unfortunately I'll be moving out of Georgia soon so I will miss coming here, but I would highly recommend this salon to anyone!! read more

Will they asked me to send a review and here it is. The management here is just awful. I've been going here for years. And I am changing my hair from bleached out to highlights and low lights. My hairdresser made my hair too dark and I called and asked for a redo.. So the management actually called me and asked me to send photos of my hair before they would schedule my redo. Like they didn't believe me, afer I have been a long time client for years! Then they make me jump through hoops in order to make an appointment that suited them. So I reorganize my work day to come in and have my hair redone to suit the manager's schedule. They act like they are so important and have so many clients. But every time I go in there, there is hardly anyone there. So that goes to the point of why they made me jump through hoops to make their demands for an appointment for the color that they messed up! I have been a loyal client and have spent so much money. But no more! I am not spending my hard earned money to be treated like crap. read more

I booked a hair cut for my shoulder length curly thick Brazilian hair, so they booked a 45 minute appointment( extra time). I asked the receptionist for the price and she said it would be $93, again I reiterated about my hair, just to make sure. She confirmed the price. Jeremiah was great but because he went over the allocated time, I was charged $150 instead?????? I asked the receptionist why and she said cause of the added time. Now, why was this not disclosed anywhere on the website, or why couldn't the receptionist tell me when I SPECIFICALLY asked about the haircut for my type of hair? She mentioned the added charge was up to the hairstylist, which I find hard to believe. ‍ That is EXTREMELY deceitful and bad business! I see another review on here about this charge for curly hair people. And from the reviews I've read, this seems like a common practice for this salon. About to check BBB. read more

I completely trusted the stylists with 15+ years of experience to do a color correction. After two appointments you can see what happened to my hair in the photos below. I was left in bleach for 3+ hours. The stylist was not able to finish blow drying because of how damaged it was and let me leave the salon with broken pieces of hair all over my shirt. No acknowledgement or apology on his part. When I called to complain I was given the run around and had to call back multiple times and was told they still had to have more "conversations" before coming to a resolution. I was offered to get a partial refund or a re-do. I asked for both a partial and a re-do or a complete refund and was told no. After spending $439 total for the two appointments I was only refunded $226. So they were able to keep $213 and in turn completely ruined and damaged my hair beyond repair. DO NOT GO TO BOB STEELE! Not all stylists are the same quality... I have gone to Erin in the past here and LOVED her...but this time she didn't have any openings.. I needed a partial and they offered me a "Level 6" stylist (which I assumed would know her stuff). It usually takes around 3 hours to do my highlights correctly and Erin leaves some "growth" intentionally so that the color blends well and looks natural with my brows. I told this stylist that I wanted to keep some brown so it looks natural like Erin usually does, This girl took an hour and this is what I got....... And for 200 dollars I might add!!! NEVER have I had a color look so stripe-y and like I did it at home by myself... I left messages, but their salon doesn't even open until I already need to be at the event. Do not ever get a keratin treatment here. They make your hair completely greasy and do not even dry it all the way. I had a wedding to go to the same night and I was told it would make my hair smooth and straight. I walked out with greasy wet hair and they told me I couldnt shower for 24 hours. You didn't because you weren't there, I use all natural, color safe products- the same ones I used when your stylists dyed my hair blonde and she told me my products were fine. I trust her advice and she always comes through for me. I am always happy with the work she does. She is also incredibly personable and funny, so the time flies in her chair. Apart from my awesome experience with Lanika, I have found the other salon staff to be great too. All of the staff is attentive and professional. I feel welcome and at home every time I come here. I really want to love this salon for its location and hours. I came in two weeks ago for the first time and got partial highlights and a haircut. Taylor did a fantastic job with the color, albeit a little light, it has faded beautifully, keeping my natural warm blonde tones. Where this appointment failed me was the haircut. It's a couple inches shorter than I was intending, but I've come to terms with the length. The problem is the layers. My layers are extremely choppy. It looks like I have 3 distinct different lengths of hair, but I didn't initially notice due to the way my hair was dried. I have layers closer to the back that are shorter than my face framing layers. I have not gone back to get it fixed because another salon told me that I'd have to take off even more length to blend the layers well, so I'm letting it grow out and just wearing my hair wavy so it's less noticeable. read more

Sometimes i forget to write reviews for places that don't serve food. This is my second time coming to the salon. This places holds true to all the rumors... its fancy and it's BOMB!!! The stylist here are sooo talented. I've never been to a salon that did all types of hair before. My hair was done by Shakiyla!!! Omg where do i start!!! She's a stylish stylist!!! I love EVERYTHING about her. Upon my arrival i sat at her station and talked about what i wanted andddddd what i needed! After our chat we walked over to the shampoo bowl and where she gave me the shampoo of my LIFE!! You know about that shampoo... the one that makes you forget you are i public! The one where you go completely numb from your head down!!! LortHam'Mercyyy... it was Bomb!! I have natural/ curly hair and this is where i typically gain my "salon issue". I'm not sure of the brush she used but it felt nice to have my hair and neck RESPECTED!! She took her time brushing through my hair before placing me under the dryer. I always peek at the brush when i get my hair done to see how much of my hair was RIPPED OUT. She left me so happy when i saw very little hair in her brush. She asked if i needed a drink and offered magazines before pulling the hood down on the dryer!!! Yessssss for the Customer Service/ Experience!! A few other staff present walked past while i was under the dryer and offered water as well!! Midway thru the drying process, she checked on me to make sure i wasn't dry early. After i finished drying she walked me over to her station and began to blow dry my hair. I can not describe this process, but just know it was great!!! She never let the blow dryer get too hot and she never tugged on my hair. For my "look" She gave me large curls and switched my part to the middle. Overall this was such a great experience! At Bob Steele they have this level system, and that's kinda what determines the price. Since Shakiyla is newer to the salon, she isn't as high of a level as other stylist, but that's also what makes her prices more reasonable. Levels here's clearly don't determine quality because my hair was/ BOMB!!! Based on pictures Ives seen on her Instagram, she does ALLLLLL hair types and everyone's hair looks great and healthy!!! The BEST place to get your hair cut and styled in Atlanta! I have been seeing Lindsey for years. She is always consistent, sweet and honest about what would look good or not. I color my own hair, and when I got a raise at work, I wanted to go back to getting it colored professionally. When I asked her about getting it colored there, she said it looked so good as it was that I didn't need to do anything different. I liked that. She is an upper level stylist, so it's $80 for a cut. I don't get a style, but I think that is another $40-50. The salon is clean and modern and has REALLY comfortable hair washing chairs. When I got married, Lindsey didn't do my hair, an updo, but recommended someone who could and it made my day even more perfect. I took pictures and she made it look exactly like I wanted. read more

Mary at Post Riverside did an AMAZING job providing the perfect color to match my skin tone and style to accommodate my super thick hair. What I'm most upset about is the lack of transparency in pricing. Why was I charged $47 for a "blowout". After a client receives a color service it's standard to have it blow dried afterward. Otherwise how else would you see the color and tell if u like it or not?!?! Excellent service! My hair dresser was Summer. She was outstanding! I loved her haircut! Also, she was very polite and professional.

I went there for a haircut and highlights. The highlights process was rushed, and at the end of the appointment the highlights were almost too subtle, barely visible. Stylist was amateur. When I asked for a redo (of the haircut only) initially they reported there was no availability for the next few days. Eventually after pressing, they we're able to get me in for a same day appointment. The same stylist seemed irritated, and finished the redo cut within 10 Mins. Lastly, they used a lot of product on my hair through the entire process, and my scalp was burning/tender for several days after the cut. For the amount I paid - $200+, I would have expected better service. Would not recommend this salon. read more

I've been going to Bob Steele for years. I'll admit I'm one of those people who waits 6-8 months instead of 6 weeks between haircuts. I used to schedule appointments with the students who were close to graduating - this is because I am cheap and easy-(::ahem::)-going... and I am normally not picky about who does my hair because hair is not the end of the world. (However, I should admit that a great haircut, like jeans, is worth the money.) Anyway, they don't let just anyone make an appt for that anymore. You can sign up on the website for them to contact you if there's a possibility you'll fit into a certain need. Riley had her hands full of my split ends. She cut inches off and made it healthy - somehow without making it look shorter! She also gave me the bangs I wanted, and then she went back when we both agreed they should go shorter. She was super patient and great. I forgot to mention.. the scalp massage. Oh Lord. If only they'd lengthen that process by about 15 minutes. Also, they offer you drinks, which is really nice: coffee, water, soda.. The facilities are very attractive, bright and clean. There are a ton of seats and mirrors, so they have the capacity for a lot of appointments at once. Don't let the Hairdresser-Levels scare you. I've found that I've left happy with work by the students when I used to do that, like I mentioned. So if you're on a budget, go with a Level 1 or 2, and you won't break the bank. The higher levels are worth it though if you've got the money to spend. Very talented hairdressers. It's easy to make an appointment online once you've been there at least once. I am the type that may not want to make the call, or I decide at random times that I *might* want to get a haircut... so being able to see what's available online is super helpful and convenient. Also, definitely check out H.O.T. - Hair Openings Tomorrow. If you look online after 7pm and find an opening for a service "tomorrow" you'll get 20% off your bill. Pretty sweet idea. The whole process of my hair wash, cut and dry was probably less than half hour and I was happy. When I left, they offered me the option to book my next appointment and get 15% off for doing so at that time. I have never done that before, because like I said, I wait waaaayy too long between cuts and usually schedule last-minute.. but I decided to take advantage this time. Not quite 6 weeks because that's too soon. We made my next appointment for about 3 months out.. I'm looking forward to it! I really don't have a strong reason to take a full star away from them, I want to say it's a 4.5... but I think I'll update after my next appointment! I have been to Bob Steel on several different occasions. From my different experiences at Bob Steele I feel that, in general, the stylists do not take the necessary time to listen to what each individual client desires. My first experience: My sister had given me a gift certificate for my birthday. I got a hair cut and color (all over color and foils). The end result was just about what I had expected--and she did a decent job. When it came to styling my hair I felt as if the stylist completely ignored my requests. I have very thick and voluminous hair and specifically requested that I like it straight/flattened as much as possible. She curled and poofed it up--I left feeling like a news anchor (from the 80's). As soon as I got to my car I brushed it out. I returned a couple more times to get my hair done. For the price I received average service. Last May my best friend had a stylist from Bob Steele travel to Lake Lanier to do the hair and make up of all those in her wedding party. Cayla (I believe did hair) and Angie (I believe did makeup). The only reason I mention their names is becasue they did a fantastic job at both listening to each individual's requests, suggesting ideas or any changes to the requests (clearly they are more knowlegable about what looks good then us), and executing the job in a professional and timely manner. I was very impressed wtih these two ladies. Cayla has a true gift for doing hair--I could not believe the intricate work that she did--and how quick she executed it. Angie was very friendly and also did a great job. If it were not for the other experiences I had at Bob Steele these two ladies earn 5 stars in my book. Just a last week another girlfriend of mine got married and she was kind enough to bring her entire bridal party into Bob Steele. After having had such an excellent experience with Cayla and Angie I was excited to do it all over again one year later. This was not my experience at all. The women at the front desk were not inviting or warm at all. I am pretty easy going and told my hair stylist I want lots of curls, my hair mostly tied back, with some dangling curls to frame my face, and even some in the back. She literally put all my hair into a pony tail, curled it and did a few twists on the side,--20 minutes + $50 + $Tip + My time later she said "Done! How do you like it" . I replied "It is okay, it is not what I had envisioned at all, I asked you to put some hairs dangling to frame my face". Then she replied "I figured they wont stay that way until the wedding". I left feeling like I had just been robbed--I could have done what she did. Plus it really upset me that she didn't listen to my requests--and basically did what she thought was right without consulting with me before hand...? I don't want to mention her name--I only mention names if I have praises, but I was VERY disappointed by her work. Moving on to the makeup artist. She did a great job, she was very friendly, and listened to everything I said. My only problem was that I have been broken out ever since I left. I normally do not have such hyperactive skin, and I wonder if they clean their products. For the money I think you might be better off at many of the wide array of salons Atlanta has to offer. I would skip Bob Steele. ...Unless you want a fabulous updo with a very talented young lady then contact Cayla you really will be surprised by what she can do.
