I highly recommend this salon if you enjoy paying hundreds of dollars to be condescended and provided with mediocre service. 10/10 if you are into torture. TLDR: I paid way too much for bad service and bad outcomes. 0/10 recommend this salon or Jordyn as a stylist. If you're anything like me and walked in expecting high-quality service and agreed to pay top dollar for it, you will be very disappointed. The long edit: I sat in stylist's chair (a "level 8"...) and showed her an inspo picture. I was wanting to go from a level 5 to 6 all over balayage, to adding a little bit more dimension. So I asked for lifting in some areas and low lights other areas. Not that complicated. She left me in the chair for about 30 minutes as she consulted with her colleagues and acted as if I was a level three wanting to go platinum. That's when I should've walked out. I had a feeling in my gut that she was not going to be able to handle the task. But instead I was too nice and stayed. Anyways. After about 40 minutes of processing, during which she kept complaining that my hair wasn't lifting and accused multiple times I must've used box dye before coming in, my hair was a mess of orange streaks and black base. She went in super dark all over and couldn't lift the pieces she'd pulled. It was a mess. But what made the session so much worse is the fact that she was just so rude to me. As if she'd done me a favor by accepting to see me and just kept insisting that it was my fault because I must've been using box dye. Let me be very clear, I did not pay hundreds of dollars to hide a $10 box from her. I take extremely good care of my hair and had never had a problem lifting, so to be condescended for hours and accused of using box dye was a ridiculous engagement. I left very disappointed and immediately called my usual stylist to fix it. In the end I paid twice the amount to have it corrected. Spoiler alert, she had no issues fixing the orange and lifting the hair to give me exactly what I'd wanted. Generally speaking, I would've given them another chance, as it takes a while to get to know each other, I get that. My review is based on the way that I was treated- the way that I was condescended. The service was just extremely rude and dismissive, and there was this awkward air the entire time as if she was doing me a favor by attempting to deliver a very basic service. You could tell she didn't want to do it and didn't want to be there and was being extremely rude to you. This place is a lot like visible changes where they're charging you a premium purely based on the artist tenure, not an ability to actually deliver quality. Do not recommend at all. read more

I've been going to Bob Steele Salon for years and have spent well over $5,000 there without ever leaving a negative review. Unfortunately, my recent experience with a new stylist, Gibelli, was extremely disappointing. I asked for creamy blonde balayage highlights and a trim, but the result was far from what I requested. About four inches of my hair were cut off, despite only asking for a trim, and the layers are uneven and inconsistent. The color work is also problematic. Instead of blended balayage, the highlights appear chunky, uneven, and several different shades, with orange tones throughout and large sections that appear to have been missed entirely. There is little to no blending. A close friend of mine who is a licensed stylist also commented that the highlights look more like traditional foil highlights rather than balayage, which may explain the harsh lines and lack of blending. I left the salon crying because of how much length was removed. While color can technically be corrected, length cannot be restored for at least a year, and I may even have to cut more hair to even everything out. The salon offered a partial redo, but I'm uncomfortable with that solution. I don't want to darken the hair (which would make it harder to lighten later), and I'm also hesitant to bleach my hair again only two weeks after the original service due to potential damage. When I expressed these concerns, the manager seemed frustrated and unwilling to consult a trained stylist about how the correction would actually work. It also felt odd that a partial correction was booked when I originally paid for a full balayage service. Considering the service cost nearly $400 and my long history as a loyal client, I expected a more thoughtful and professional resolution. At this point, I'll likely need to see a more experienced color specialist elsewhere to correct the color issues. Unfortunately, while color can be corrected, the lost length cannot. For reference, I've also included a photo of what my hair looked like in November before my December highlights with Taylor, plus about four months of growth. My current hair is actually darker than it was two color services ago, which makes the result even more confusing. This was a very disappointing experience after many years of positive visits. read more

Really bad experience went in with long hair almost down my waist and left with my hair to my chin and I wanted it long enough to put up for work what a nightmare my hair and my crown is 3 inches long and I have natural curly hair this cut is a nightmare. Horrible experience at this location. Please avoid at all costs. The quality was absolutely terrible. The service abysmal. The vibe was like overpriced and under accommodating. The stylist rushed through my balayage and hair cut. I've had better service and work done at great clips and Walmart lmao. read more

The best salon in Atlanta! I've been coming here every couple months for the past 2 years to get my hair highlighted and cut by Dana. I have very curly and natural red hair, and she is not only amazing at giving me perfect cuts to suit my curls but she is a master colorist at blending blonde highlights into my hair. Dana is so sweet and is a perfectionist at everything she does. I always leave the salon feeling so happy and confident. She also recommended some curly hair products that I haven't heard of before and they're my new favorite now! Unfortunately I'll be moving out of Georgia soon so I will miss coming here, but I would highly recommend this salon to anyone!! read more

I have gone to the Atlanta salon for many years and have always had a good experience. Great management, stylists and staff! Most recently, I have been going to Amanda and we have been transitioning my hair from years of built-up dark brown color to a platinum blonde to blend in with my mostly grey hair. It's been quite a process and task for Amanda but she has handled it beautifully! She is truly very talented. I'm so happy with my hair and it has remained in good condition, too. read more

One of the best haircuts I've gotten that was actually affordable. Thank you Gabriela!

Will they asked me to send a review and here it is. The management here is just awful. I've been going here for years. And I am changing my hair from bleached out to highlights and low lights. My hairdresser made my hair too dark and I called and asked for a redo.. So the management actually called me and asked me to send photos of my hair before they would schedule my redo. Like they didn't believe me, afer I have been a long time client for years! Then they make me jump through hoops in order to make an appointment that suited them. So I reorganize my work day to come in and have my hair redone to suit the manager's schedule. They act like they are so important and have so many clients. But every time I go in there, there is hardly anyone there. So that goes to the point of why they made me jump through hoops to make their demands for an appointment for the color that they messed up! I have been a loyal client and have spent so much money. But no more! I am not spending my hard earned money to be treated like crap. read more

I booked a hair cut for my shoulder length curly thick Brazilian hair, so they booked a 45 minute appointment( extra time). I asked the receptionist for the price and she said it would be $93, again I reiterated about my hair, just to make sure. She confirmed the price. Jeremiah was great but because he went over the allocated time, I was charged $150 instead?????? I asked the receptionist why and she said cause of the added time. Now, why was this not disclosed anywhere on the website, or why couldn't the receptionist tell me when I SPECIFICALLY asked about the haircut for my type of hair? She mentioned the added charge was up to the hairstylist, which I find hard to believe. ‍ That is EXTREMELY deceitful and bad business! I see another review on here about this charge for curly hair people. And from the reviews I've read, this seems like a common practice for this salon. About to check BBB. read more

I completely trusted the stylists with 15+ years of experience to do a color correction. After two appointments you can see what happened to my hair in the photos below. I was left in bleach for 3+ hours. The stylist was not able to finish blow drying because of how damaged it was and let me leave the salon with broken pieces of hair all over my shirt. No acknowledgement or apology on his part. When I called to complain I was given the run around and had to call back multiple times and was told they still had to have more "conversations" before coming to a resolution. I was offered to get a partial refund or a re-do. I asked for both a partial and a re-do or a complete refund and was told no. After spending $439 total for the two appointments I was only refunded $226. So they were able to keep $213 and in turn completely ruined and damaged my hair beyond repair. DO NOT GO TO BOB STEELE! You will regret it. read more

Felt like such a luxury experience. Everyone was so kind. Jenn was absolutely amazing!!!

Update: Turns out that my appointment was booked with extra time, even though that time was never used for the haircut. I was just offered a refund for the extra $50. I just wish the receptionist fixed the error at checkout. I do appreciate that the owner did the right thing in the end. read more

This review is mostly for Bax as he is the only stylist who has cut my hair. It's also only for cuts, as that's all I have done. Bax is great Andy listens to his clients wants and also has fabulous hair cutting skills. I've only been going to him since June, shortly after moving to the area. I feel so fortunate to have found someone excellent the first time, because sometimes it can take awhile. read more

Not all stylists are the same quality... I have gone to Erin in the past here and LOVED her...but this time she didn't have any openings.. I needed a partial and they offered me a "Level 6" stylist (which I assumed would know her stuff). It usually takes around 3 hours to do my highlights correctly and Erin leaves some "growth" intentionally so that the color blends well and looks natural with my brows. I told this stylist that I wanted to keep some brown so it looks natural like Erin usually does, This girl took an hour and this is what I got....... And for 200 dollars I might add!!! NEVER have I had a color look so stripe-y and like I did it at home by myself... I left messages, but their salon doesn't even open until I already need to be at the event. I paid 200 dollars to have to go somewhere else and pay another... read more

The only salon I will come to. The salon is always clean and the staff is very responsive. I just want to give a shoutout to athena, who always knocks it out of the park. I have been a LONG time client for years & at several locations. One thing I can't stand is that you can book & change an appointment online, but if you want to cancel you have to call. What's the point of online booking if I have to call? I get if it's the day before the appointment, but when it's 3 weeks out, seriously? And then when you call to cancel they want a reason why?? I am an adult I want to cancel that is the reason! Ridiculous! read more

Update and response to Bob Steele Representative: Although I appreciate your response to this post, I as the customer have ownership of what is "above and beyond service" I have called and emailed multiple times since my first attempt to restore the damage to my hair with no response from your salon. All customers sastified and dissatisfied should be treated with equal respect, and I don't feel like you have shown that at all. Did you see the products I brought? You didn't because you weren't there, I use all natural, color safe products- the same ones I used when your stylists dyed my hair blonde and she told me my products were fine. Also, when I brought in my hair products to ensure they were not compromising the fidelity of the color your stylists only response was "I'm not familiar with these products" In case you are wondering, "above and beyond" would have been to continue to work with me until my hair was restored, not misrepresenting yourselves or your efforts on a Yelp post 6 months after the damage is almost irreversible. read more

I'm still very pleased with Bob Steele salon. I started back after a long time away and the quality is still terrific. I had seen Alaine twice for a color correction after I screwed up my color at home, and now that she is out on maternity leave, I saw Bax at her recommendation. He was fabulous! Very friendly and did a wonderful job with my color touch up. I booked with him again, this time actually on my birthday! After 15 years with another stylist, I finally made a leap of faith and tried Bob Steele Salon. I haven't looked back since! Lanika is the absolute best hairstylist. I trust her advice and she always comes through for me. I am always happy with the work she does. She is also incredibly personable and funny, so the time flies in her chair. Apart from my awesome experience with Lanika, I have found the other salon staff to be great too. All of the staff is attentive and professional. I feel welcome and at home every time I come here. As soon as you walk in, the staff greets you, checks you in, offers you a drink, and gets you a robe. The salon is super clean and well-maintained as well. I look forward to my visits and intend to remain a customer for a very long time. read more

Amanda, Amanda, AMANDA! As a busy working mom, I always push off getting my hair done until I'm on the verge of shaving it off. For the last 6 years I have been bouncing from Stylist to Stylist trying to find a good "match". 1) Someone that can do an AMAZING low maintenance color job 2) someone who I can have great conversation with and will actually get me EXCITED to sit in a chair for 2 hours to get my hair done. AMANDA checked those boxes today. Yay! I FOUND HER! I felt like my "subtle" highlights over the last several sessions with other Stylists had started to take me more of a full blown blonde than a natural brunette with some contrast highlights. I was feeling washed out and dull. I wanted to get back to my roots (pun intended) but without the grays and some pretty subtle highlights for contrast. AMANDA nailed it. I feel fresh and my hair is warm, shiny and natural. Amanda, thank you for bringing some VIBRANCE to this tired Mama. I feel like I look 5 years younger! read more

Bob Steele Salon - Love the natural highlights - Hair Salons Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

I really want to love this salon for its location and hours. I came in two weeks ago for the first time and got partial highlights and a haircut. Taylor did a fantastic job with the color, albeit a little light, it has faded beautifully, keeping my natural warm blonde tones. Where this appointment failed me was the haircut. It's a couple inches shorter than I was intending, but I've come to terms with the length. The problem is the layers. My layers are extremely choppy. It looks like I have 3 distinct different lengths of hair, but I didn't initially notice due to the way my hair was dried. I have layers closer to the back that are shorter than my face framing layers. I have not gone back to get it fixed because another salon told me that I'd have to take off even more length to blend the layers well, so I'm letting it grow out and just wearing my hair wavy so it's less noticeable. read more

Do not ever get a keratin treatment here. They make your hair completely greasy and do not even dry it all the way. Sometimes i forget to write reviews for places that don't serve food. This is my second time coming to the salon. This places holds true to all the rumors... its fancy and it's BOMB!!! The stylist here are sooo talented. I've never been to a salon that did all types of hair before. My hair was done by Shakiyla!!! Omg where do i start!!! She's a stylish stylist!!! I love EVERYTHING about her. Upon my arrival i sat at her station and talked about what i wanted andddddd what i needed! After our chat we walked over to the shampoo bowl and where she gave me the shampoo of my LIFE!! You know about that shampoo... the one that makes you forget you are i public! The one where you go completely numb from your head down!!! LortHam'Mercyyy... it was Bomb!! I have natural/ curly hair and this is where i typically gain my "salon issue". I'm not sure of the brush she used but it felt nice to have my hair and neck RESPECTED!! She took her time brushing through my hair before placing me under the dryer. I always peek at the brush when i get my hair done to see how much of my hair was RIPPED OUT. She left me so happy when i saw very little hair in her brush. She asked if i needed a drink and offered magazines before pulling the hood down on the dryer!!! Yessssss for the Customer Service/ Experience!! A few other staff present walked past while i was under the dryer and offered water as well!! Midway thru the drying process, she checked on me to make sure i wasn't dry early. After i finished drying she walked me over to her station and began to blow dry my hair. I can not describe this process, but just know it was great!!! She never let the blow dryer get too hot and she never tugged on my hair. For my "look" She gave me large curls and switched my part to the middle. Overall this was such a great experience! At Bob Steele they have this level system, and that's kinda what determines the price. Since Shakiyla is newer to the salon, she isn't as high of a level as other stylist, but that's also what makes her prices more reasonable. Levels here's clearly don't determine quality because my hair was/ BOMB!!! Based on pictures Ives seen on her Instagram, she does ALLLLLL hair types and everyone's hair looks great and healthy!!! If you want GREAT hair, at a Great Salon, by a great Stylist.....GO SEE SHAKIYLA!!! See officially has a REGULAR!! read more

The BEST place to get your hair cut and styled in Atlanta! I have been seeing Lindsey for years. She is always consistent, sweet and honest about what would look good or not. I color my own hair, and when I got a raise at work, I wanted to go back to getting it colored professionally. When I asked her about getting it colored there, she said it looked so good as it was that I didn't need to do anything different. I liked that. She is an upper level stylist, so it's $80 for a cut. I don't get a style, but I think that is another $40-50. The salon is clean and modern and has REALLY comfortable hair washing chairs. When I got married, Lindsey didn't do my hair, an updo, but recommended someone who could and it made my day even more perfect. I took pictures and she made it look exactly like I wanted. read more

Took my first trip to Bob Steele today & I love the finished product! Mary at Post Riverside did an AMAZING job providing the perfect color to match my skin tone and style to accommodate my super thick hair. My sisters & mother have seen Mary before & highly recommended her expertise. I liked that Mary has a lot of clients with thick hair, so she is experienced in the craft of layering and taking out just enough - not so much that my hair is too thin in areas (which has happened at other salons). I will definitely be back to see Mary again! read more

Great haircut! The people were really nice and the prices were normal for a haircut and eyebrow wax!

Worst haircut of my life. Went in for a men's haircut and gave her the directions I give everyone when I am getting a haircut and this girl left me pretty much bald. I paid $140 for a "mini foil , gloss & blowout". My hair legit looks the exact same as it did before I went in. Waste of fucking money. What I'm most upset about is the lack of transparency in pricing. Why was I charged $47 for a "blowout". After a client receives a color service it's standard to have it blow dried afterward. Otherwise how else would you see the color and tell if u like it or not?!?! So I was told at the checkout this is protocol at bob steele if you do not get a "cut" on top of your service you'll automatically be charged an additional $47 for a blowout. What a scam! Go elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Sherry at the Northside location for three years now, and she's so sweet! Her talent as a stylist is undeniable and I get consistent compliments on the cut she helps me maintain. Ask for Kaylan! She's the best. I've never had more compliments on the cut or color of my hair -- she is super cool as well and reasonably priced. Excellent service! My hair dresser was Summer. She was outstanding! I loved her haircut! Also, she was very polite and professional.

I went there for a haircut and highlights. The highlights process was rushed, and at the end of the appointment the highlights were almost too subtle, barely visible. Stylist was amateur. When I asked for a redo (of the haircut only) initially they reported there was no availability for the next few days. Eventually after pressing, they we're able to get me in for a same day appointment. The same stylist seemed irritated, and finished the redo cut within 10 Mins. Lastly, they used a lot of product on my hair through the entire process, and my scalp was burning/tender for several days after the cut. For the amount I paid - $200+, I would have expected better service. Would not recommend this salon. read more
