The laksa was delicious but the portion is on the smaller side than what I'm used to. The boiled egg was at soft-boiled consistency which I liked, and there's an option to order using a kiosk. Overall, it's a hidden find in SF given that Singaporean food is hard to find in the US.
The food was good. I had ordered the Char Kway Teow noodle dish. Good flavors. Loved the shrimp in it. The Chinese sausage was a good add on, but I could even do without. Service was good. They were nice & friendly. Pretty fast too. Ambiance was spacious, since it's at the food court of the Metreon.
Came a very busy time and so there was a pretty long way to order both at the kiosk and in person. The staff was very busy, but it did not take too long for the food to be ready. The staff was great about answering questions about allergies. The vegan laksa had one of the most flavorful vegan broth that I have ever had. The portion was generous. The chicken cutlet dish with rice also very tasty. It was difficult to find seating inside on such a busy day however, there were tables outside as well.
Excellent food for what you'd normally expect at a food court. We went for lunch during a busy week and found Dabao as we were wandering around the Moscone Center area. Always been a fan of laksa and Char Kway Teow so that's exactly what we ordered from Dabao Ordering was easy on the touchscreen or you can order in person. Food was prepared very quickly in to go containers and Staff was friendly and helpful when we picked up our food. Water is available as well. It's in a food court so expect a loud environment Both dishes were very good and tasted authentic. My one complaint would be for both dishes, the noodles were slightly overcooked even though we ate them immediately. The laksa had good flavor with lots of veggies and seafood. The Char kwey teow was great, generous portions of veggies and proteins. I really like the sambal that's included, I think I used most of it to add a nice kick to the char kwey teow. Overall a great place to get some Singaporean food. Prices are fair for what you are getting.
Ordered the poached hainanese chicken rice. Food came out fairly quick even though there was an event going on so service was quick. The chicken and vegetables were flavored and good. The down side of this dish was the rice itself. A bit of flavor in it but very undercooked. Each bite of the rice was mixed with eating undercooked/raw rice.
Place caught my eye while I was perusing Yelp for a place to eat in the area since there aren't many Singaporean restaurants around. My group stopped by about an hour before they close and the line was constantly 4-5 groups, but the workers did such a good job getting things out in a timely manner while being friendly. You can either order with a cashier or on a screen, then wait for them to call your order number. We wanted to try the char kway teow but they were sold out for the day. What we ate: Hainanese chicken, poached (10/5) -- the best flavor in the Bay with perfectly cooked, aromatic rice and velvety chicken. It is served with 3 different sauces that elevate the dish--scallion ginger oil (more like a paste), a deep red caramelized onion tasting paste, and chili sauce. It comes with some refreshing, sesame oil coated vegetables as well as a cup of the most aromatic side soup. Such a steal for only ~$18 Seafood laksa (5/5) -- love the heat and creaminess of the broth. Brimming with seafood flavor, super bouncy noodles, and proteins of varying textures, this is very addictive. I was also tempted to get their Pokemon-themed butter mochi and rainbow jelly that they prepared for the Pokemon World Championship. I can't wait to return and try their curry puffs and char kway teow!!
Stumbled across this place bc we got the heytea nearby. Ordered the roasted hainanese chicken rice through the kiosk. Total was 18.41 which is lwk expensive, restaurant price for a small foodcourt type meal. Came out relatively quick. The lady working there gave me stink eye while she waited for me to pickup my food lol. First glance it was hefty. Sad portion of chicken, it was prob one small chicken thigh, some steamed vegetables, and so so so SO MUCH rice. Chicken came with a sweet n sour chili sauce(?) and a lemongrass type sauce. Also came with a broth but i didnt try it. The chicken itself was okay, kinda dry in a way but fine with sauce. Rice had decent flavor.
We were in San Francisco and it was busy and we were looking for food. Metreon has changed a lot and the food court has changed. We were craving noodles so we saw Davao apparently they have a history of decent Singaporean food and we stumbled across this restaurant. They had Laksa and other dishes to choose from. It was authentic not your typical Asian restaurant with an American influence. So if you are in downtown and craving Singaporean food try Dabao.
Food (5/5): Ordered the five spice hainanese chicken rice and the Char Kway Teow noodles. They were both delicious and enjoyable! Price is around $16-18 per dish. Service (4/5): You order from a tablet and food takes around 10 minutes to come out. You take the food and just sit wherever in the food court. We were in town at the Metreon and wanted to give Dabao Singapore a try. I haven't had Singaporean noodles since I visited Singapore last year and trying their noodles brought me back! The noodles were perfect in texture with a little bit of heat. The food was prepared fairly quickly. Staff were very busy but still managed to smile! It's located in the metreon so you can't miss it!!
This place was surprisingly good for a food court. It was easily the busiest spot when we visited, which turned out to be a good sign. We ordered the char kway teow and the roasted Hainanese chicken with rice. The char kway teow was the highlight. Really flavorful, and the little side of sambal gave it a nice extra kick. The Hainanese chicken was good for food court standards, though it wasn't as hot or as fresh tasting as what I've had at dedicated restaurants. That said, the rice and soup were both delicious and packed with flavor. Overall, it's a solid option if you're craving these dishes and want something quick and casual. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Interesting side of crispy anchovies and peanuts. Definitely will return if I'm in the area.
Dabao is a gem of a place in the Metreon food court. Really unique, tasty food with lots of fun textures and flavors. The Service here was friendly, but I actually used their touch screen to order my food, so my interaction with them was minimal. I ordered the Char Kway Teow, which is a noodle dish that is Similar to a Thai pad see ew. It has the wide flat rice noodles in a sweet, garlicky sauce, some lime and a yummy paste on the side that reminded me of gochuchang sauce but maybe more fishy. This dish is so delicious and it's such a good portion. You get two large shrimp on top along with some pieces of fish cakes mixed with the noodles and green onion. I will definitely come back again to try more of their dishes.

Seafood laksa good. If you're wearing a light colored or white shirt cover it up because it can stain your shirt as it splashes! Ordering is easy on the kiosk and find yourself a table. If selecting takeout your food is boxed and put into a paper bag. If for here, it's put on a tray you have to return Lots of characters sitting around in the food court tables and I mean ALL kinds of people. Some people use this spot as an all day hangout. If uncomfortable, get up and move. There are also tables outside for a more peaceful quieter nature feel on a warm day read more

Fast service and overall quite good. Both dishes were flavorful and came in decent portions. The char kway teow had some nice smoky wok flavors that really came through, and I liked that they used different kinds of noodles, similar to what you might find in Singapore. It was just a little too savory for my taste. The laksa was decent too, but I wish it had been a bit more flavorful and richer. The broth tasted a little light compared to what I was hoping for. Overall, both dishes reminded me of some familiar Singaporean flavors which was nice. read more

Located in a food court near Yerba Buena Gardens. Order at the kiosk. They have a rewards program. Everything is served in to-go containers even if eating at the food court. The food: Potato Curry Puff - nice flaky pastry Chicken Cutlet - the kids wanted this one and it was good. Crunchy texture, savory and a little sweet Seafood Laksa - this was pretty good, but wish there was more broth Poached Hainanese Chicken - didn't really seem like Hainanese Chicken aside from the sauce and seasoned rice. It was fine. I think Dabao would suffice as a fix for your Singaporean craving. read more

My foodie friend brought me here and it was sooo good. Yes it's in the metreon food court and they don't open early - they open when the mall opens so you can't really chill in there beforehand (learned this the hard way). Probably the best food court food I've had and will even be a destination when I'm up in SF for work. They serve hawker style street food. I got the Nasi Lemak w the beef rendang and spring rolls. Out of this world. Still thinking about it. read more
I visited Dabao Singapore recently for the first time with a friend. It first got on my radar when I saw it featured in Wine Down's Women-Owned Business Bingo and I was excited to check it out. I ordered the seafood laksa for lunch, while my friend got a rice plate, and we stayed to eat at one of the high-top tables in the food court. My meal was a generous portion of spicy noodle soup (not too spicy though) packed with seafood. Admittedly, it probably wasn't my ideal choice for a hot, sunny day in SF (lol), but it was so delicious that I have no regrets! I'll definitely be back sometime for more! read more
I love CKT. Delicious! Char Kway Teow with a lot of wok hay is where it's at. I like the smokiness with a bit of wok char on the noodles! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Maybe this is why I'm not losing weight. When not eating, I'm thinking and writing about food. Obsessed? I'm always thinking about this dish whenever I'm here at Dabao Singapore. I know there are other dishes, but I love CKT and can't seem to order other things. Like it's Chow Fun cousin and Pad See Ew cousin, it's hard to resist. This place is inside a mall, just like the hawker stalls in SG. Fast and efficient. Food court seating. Great to come by to grab a bite after my museum visits. Dabao Singapore, 135, 4th Street, Financial District, San Francisco, CA94103. Finally had the opportunity to try Dabao Singapore that serves Singaporean food in San Francisco. Singaporean food is hard to find in this part of the world, even in a foodie's paradise like San Francisco. Even though the price is on higher side given that the eatery is located in a food court, it's worth every penny for the nostalgia. The food came quickly, and staffs were friendly. We had Char Kway Teow and Hainanese Chicken Rice which were great but the Char Kway Teow did not have enough "wok-hei" that I was craving. I would certainly come again if/ when I have the opportunity, and try out other things on the menu. read more

Ahhh! A splendid vegan laksa bowl sure takes me back to when I get savor it at Damansara! Dabao Singapore seems Singaporean, but the laksa bowl of mine was truly Malaysian. Local ingredients combined created a spicy unforgettable experience that left me sweating more bullets than ever! If you ever come across a Singaporean style eatery, come to Metreon's food court. Recently tried Dabao with a friend on a Wednesday night and was so excited to see Singaporean food in a food court! I ordered the seafood laksa with fish balls, shrimp, and boiled egg, while my friend got the Hainanese chicken (not pictured). Both dishes were solid, but if you're someone who loves deeper, more layered flavors, I'd definitely recommend the Hainanese chicken. Service was quick, and it's self-served which makes it casual spot for a weeknight dinner. read more
Davao Singapore is located in the food court of the Metreon. There are plenty of seats around the area. You order the food and then you can pick up your food at the counter when it's ready. We ordered Char Kway Teow, which has two types of noodles stir fry with shrimp, Chinese sausage, bean sprouts and chives. We ordered the seafood laksa which comes with shrimp, fish ball, tofu puffs and noodles, we ordered a fried tofu which comes with a sweet and savory sauce topped with peanuts and bean sprout. We ordered curry chicken and chicken rice on the side. All the food is delicious and flavorful. We will definitely be returning, especially for the laksa. read more

Came here with a friend that wanted to try this place. You order on their little tablet and sit down with your receipt. It look maybe 5-10 minutes and our meals were ready for pick up. There's plenty of seating in the Metreon bottom floor including squishy couches. I got the roast chicken rice which came with the veggies and soup. My friend got the char kway teow. Both were amazing! I enjoyed my chicken rice which was nice and savory and paired well with the fresh veggies. The highlight was my friend's char kway teow. Like how in the world did that get that amount of wok hei into the dish?? The char was great and you can smell and taste the fire in the cooking. This is the place I would come to if I was ever hungry in the downtown area! read more
For Singapore food this side of the pacific, DaBao has this longtime SF-based Singaporean feeling all the nostalgia and shiok nom nom vibes. The menu has many familiar Singaporean hawker hits - seafood laksa, chicken rice, char kway teow, nasi lemak, and more! The laksa is the most authentic version I've had in the US. It's moreish in all its rich, savory, spicy, and umami glory. If anything, the broth might be a tad thicker than home but still very gratifying. Adding all the sambal into the broth vs. half like we did could help with balance. Char kway teow has good wok hei and balance between sweet and savory. Fairly significant serving sizes to boot. Some might complain about the prices given its food court ambience but truly Singaporean food is hard to find even in the asian gastro hub that is SF. For that, DaBao Singapore is worth every penny. It's really hard to find any Singaporean or Southeast Asian food generally in San Francisco so big fan that Dabao exists and definitely understand the more general crowd they're catering towards in a food court tends to hold back back certain flavor profiles -- hence their food tends to be less flavorful and spicy vs say if you got similar(ish) food in Oakland/Richmond, though unfortunately many of those places have closed down post covid. I'm a big fan that they always have a few Yeo's drinks which remind me of different drinks I had growing up and that they have laksa though the depth of flavor is a bit less and it's a bit sweeter than one would expect from a traditional malay/singaporean place. Additionally loved they had a fan of their potato pastry though unfortunately the filling inside was a bit bland and lacked spices, it still was able to pair with ssambal (though it was also very sweet and didn't have any chili kick there?). The service was fast and the host was really nice and friendly -- appreciate this place exists and hoping for their continued growth there! read more

Good: - The seafood laksa was really tasty - a bit salty but great strong flavor - The food came out pretty quickly! - The price was good value and I was super full by the end - Nice staff, let me know when my able was ready Bad: - Seating area is a bit jankier - you sit in commuunial - Laksa was a bit too spicy for me too - Ambiance is casual diner Overall this was a good experience and I like it as a new option for food i =n the metreon. read more
The roasted Hainese chicken was on the dry side. It came with a broth that was bland. It also came with 2 sauces one ginger and one hot. The veggies that were included was crispy and tasty. The service was fast and easy. The place was full of people and the noise was minimal. The place was hard to find because it was inside by the cinema. Stopped by Metreon's food court for lunch and Dabao was the only spot with a line. We took that as a good sign and ordered the ayam special and chicken-rice bowl. The food was flavorful and the sauces that came with it helped amp up the flavor further. Only wish the ayam fried chicken pieces had more chicken inside - there were several pieces with just the fried coating and nothing inside. The staff was nice enough to give extra satay sauce when we asked for it. We'll be back here the next time we're in the area read more
There are a few places that fully serve Singaporean food only. There are also restaurants which have Singaporean dishes but are also serving lots of dishes from other countries in Southeast Asia. One dish I am always in search of is Laksa. Although there is always the debate where Laska originated between the countries of Singapore and Indonesia but it seems there is always a bit of a different flavor when it comes to the different places serving Laska. There are a few places in San Francisco which have good Laksa. This is the first Singaporean restaurant I seen at a food court in the city. My search for Laksa is on my list of my favorite search of soups to try like Matzo Ball soup, clam chowder soup, Pho, Ramen , and of course the Ooh Don ( Udon). Dabao Singapore is a Singaporean restaurant located inside the Metreon food court in downtown San Francisco. They serve Singaporean dishes. I got the Laksa which had fish balls , tofu , egg, noodles and shrimp. It was good but not the best I had in the city. It was a bit tartier than the other Laksa I had at other restaurants in San Francisco. My favorite dish happened to be the Roasted Hainanese ( island of Hainan the Hawaii of China). The chicken was tender and adding the broth flavor reminded me having Pho Ga without the noodles but with rice. Overall one of the best food I had at a foodcourt . Grab Singaporean dishes at Dabao Singapore if you are in downtown San Francisco. Not sure what the rave is about. This is a food court stall establishment with okay food and mediocre service. The first time we stopped by here, my brother and I stood in front of the cashier while the employee was doing something to the machine. She didnt acknowledge us or give us any signal that she'd be with us. We were literally standing a foot in front of her. She just kept tinkering with the machine. We left after a few minutes. But we decided to come back a week later so that we could at least try the food from here, but again no one greeted us. When we eventually got our food and tried it we just thought "okay, this is what we expected from a movie theater food court restaurant". The laksa that they're known for looked appetizing but was bland. And the chicken cutlet was the same. On the plus side, the portion sizes were decent. Sufficed to say, neither I nor my brother will stop by here again, unless we're in a hurry and all of the other food court stalls happen to be closed. read more

Delicious and reliable! I got the seafood laksa. It was full of flavor and a good portion. The order is ready pretty quickly, and since Dabao is in a food court there was plenty of seating. Noise level depends on how busy the food court is, but in the afternoon on a Wednesday, it was pretty free. Service is really nice! The cashier is always so sweet and accommodating. We asked if we could split the bowl in half to share between two people and she was super nice about it. read more

The chicken rice was flavorful, however majority of the dish was rice (rice filled entire bottom of the box in pic), and the $8 side of curry chicken came with 2 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of potato that were not fully cooked and hard to chew.
