Da Sabatino's is one of the best keep secrets in Roma. As a younger dinner in the 1990-today the charm and of course the food is five star. The restaurant is directly across the street from Ignazio Church which is a must visit. The arancini, tomato and mozzarella, and the bruschetta as starters are fantastic. Any of the homemade pasta's are great, but the pasta carbonara was a foodies dream. We also had the chicken piccata and it to was excellent. The fresh tasting Italian wines are not to be forgotten. Look inside on the walls and you may find the great history of our past visits. A must experience!

We had a day to spend in Rome on our way to Athens and we're craving some of the great food we enjoyed during our last visit to Italy. From our experiences, you can go almost anywhere and get really good food especially if it's pasta. That wasn't good enough-we wanted great food. Da Sabatino is located in a great area close to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. We arrived just before they were scheduled to open and were welcomed and seated immediately. Bread, olive oil and water were brought while we studied the wine list. The difficult part was deciding what to order because "you can't have it all". My fettuccine bolognese was a perfect combination of wonderful pasta and meat sauce. Rich flavors with a "to die" for pasta made me wish I had two orders. My wife equally enjoyed her spaghetti al pomodoro. Our friends both ordered veal saltimbocca. Their dishes were enjoyed as much as ours and were perfectly prepared. Of course a bottle wine capped off a fantastic meal. Service was superb and prices were extremely reasonable. We return to Rome in a couple weeks as our vacation comes to an end. We'll probably come back here even though it's so much fun to try new restaurants.

My favorite dinner in Rome. Loved the food, ambience, and location. We split cacio pepe and a pizza. Both outstanding but what set this place apart were the complimentary bruschetta and bread pre meal. The location is perfect in between buildings and in a square tucked away from the craziness. Friendly wait staff who spoke good English. Definitely go to this place for a nice relaxing dinner that is fairly priced.

My husband and I had dinner here with local relatives. You know it's legit when locals eat there! First, I've read some of the negative reviews and I disagree. In Rome, it's not custom to get free tapas/appetizers outside of bread nor olive oil (unless requested). A member of our group was vegetarian and they were very accommodating of his needs when clearly explained. The food is very delicious and the service was excellent. The caccio e pepe is my absolute favorite and they taught us how it's cooked "right" (hint: mix some of the boiling pasta water into the cheese, stir and let it simmer before mixing into the noodles). We would HIGHLY recommend this place!

Excellent food, we really liked this place! First of all, they give you bruschetta, arancini and a big bread ball on the house as starters! They were all excellent. We ordered some prosecco, it was a little dry but good. We ordered lasagna, cacio e pepe and a mushroom pizza. The lasagna needed a little more meat but other than that it was very cheesy and good. The cacio e Pepe was good but needed more cheese. After adding Parmesan to it, it was excellent. We really enjoyed it. The mushroom pizza was excellent. It was thin and durable with lots of flavor. The crust was excellent. One of the best pizzerias in Rome. We were too full to order dessert but as they're giving you the check they give you these EXCELLENT chocolate chip biscuits. They're warm and soft like cakes. They were crazy good. My dad doesn't even like cookies or cakes but loved these! This place is worth a visit!

Appetizers

OMG! First meal in Italy. I asked server best pasta he recommends. Appetizers were ok. The pasta I ordered don't remember the name. It was Super Salty and raw inside. I know al dente, and this was not it. I had 2 bites and couldn't eat. Wife and friends all said same for different pasta dishes- too salty. Bad first impression Here is a picture of appetizers. I didn't take a pic of pasta cause I was annoyed at the dish.

At least try. It was barely edible. Just because we are American doesn't mean you can pass barely edible dry chicken off for Italian food.

Pretty rude and bad communication. Don't go here if you want people who will provide service that's decent or even neutral at best.

The food was amazing. The service was great. It was the first and best place we ate at in Rome. Sitting outside was nice and it was quiet.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

Already depressed knowing we were returning to the cold and fearful Minneapolis, we spent the day packing and wandering Prati. After drowning our sorrows at a few cocktail emporiums in the early evening, we walked into Su e Giu without a reservation close to 9:30. The two guys working the front showed us to a table, and we proceeded to have a perfect last night meal. Our appetizers and pastas were great, service was friendly, and I spent time reflecting on how wonderful Rome is, rather than thinking about our return to the fractured States. Su e Giu Cucina Romana is the perfect Roman restaurant to feel La Dolce Vita. It is a sweet life indeed.

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

Our kind waiter bright over water, bread and breadsticks. No olive oil, no butter just dry. For our lunch I decided on the cacio e Pepe and Lisa opted for the ragú. Both were delicious. For dessert we were told the owners mom made lemon cake so that was a no brainer. It was fabulous and paired well with espresso. Our waiter also brought us Amaro. It's a licorice like liqueur enjoyed as a digestif. Definitely an acquired taste that reminded me of Aguardiente. Overall the service and staff were exceptional and I would return if ever in a Vatican City again.

We were both satisfied with our selections. Our meals started with bread service, both fresh bread and packaged breadsticks. We didn't receive any olive oil which might be the norm in Italy. For dessert, we opted for a slice of their featured lemon torta. It was enjoyable and we paired it with espresso. Finally, our server offered us a popular digestivi - Amaro. It reminded me of Jägermeister and I wasn't a fan. But I appreciated the hospitality and kindness of his gesture. In summary, we left content and with full bellies. Our server did a great job and the manager or owner acknowledged us and seemed to appreciate our business. All in all, this lunch was a positive experience.
