I've found a favorite Korean family-owned business in the area! We were craving Korean food for dinner and came here on a weekday night. 1) Spicy Cold Noodle (bibim naengmyun): chilled buckwheat noodles garnished with cold slices of radish, cucumber with red spicy chili sauce. Ironically, even though I'm not super into spicy food, I love the taste of bibim noodles. The sauce is on point - with that combination of sweet and spicy. There are definitely oodles of noodles (they provide you with scissors) so you can cut them into bite sizes; otherwise, the noodles are SUPER long (5/5) 2) Beef short rib soup (galbitang): I loove getting my fix of galbitang. There's plenty of meat in the soup, and interestingly enough, it comes OFF the bone (usually other places serve you with bone-in). It's still flavorful though. Highly recommend (5/5) There's plenty of banchan (side dishes). Prices are reasonable, credit cards are accepted, and there's plenty of parking. read more

Fortunately for me, my guest was not Korean and can't speak Korean but does EAT Korean, so on with the chow! We had Tofu Soup...gentle and tasty, lots of Tofu. Oh I don't know what else we had, but was a BIG cast iron plate with lots of meat and vegetables and an egg on top. We stirred it up and the bottom was nicely crunchy. Panchan was ok but not the star, and that's cool. And you have to have short ribs. A little oily but oh dear me, so good. Very unassuming place. The staff just works hard and keeps moving, they don't engage much, which is a little endearing if you ask me. If you need to be coddled you can go somewhere else. read more

Came here because my friend really loves this place and now I do too. The sides were all super delicious. Sometimes kimchi sides are too soft for me but these were the perfectly amount of crunch and flavor. I ordered the combo spicy pork and tofu soup medium spicy. It was so much food I turned it into 3 meals. The dumplings were also so yummy. I will have to come back to try the fried version. The servers were really friendly and patient as well. This restaurant is located near my workplace, and I first went there on a colleague's recommendation. One of its unique features is the all-day special menu, which offers several options for just $13 throughout the day. While price is important, I care most about the quality of the food -- and here, the food quality is surprisingly good for the cost. Portions are generous, side dishes are plentiful, and they'll happily refill them if you ask, so you'll never leave the table hungry. The staff are friendly and attentive, responding quickly whenever something is needed, which makes the service very satisfying. The restaurant itself does feel a little old and the interior isn't fancy or stylish, but that actually highlights how good the food is -- it doesn't need flashy décor to bring in customers. Ooohh you like soondubu? Y'all, just come here. They've got you! This place gives me like a mom and pop restaurant vibe. They'll hook you up with lots of ban Chan (side dishes) and they have a much larger selection of food to choose from then if you just go to a bcd tofu house or Kaju. I ordered their seafood pancake, assorted soondubu, and galbi tang. My favorite was the galbi tang (beef short ribs with glass noodles). So comforting and so delicious! Their service is super quick and so is their food! Not sure how they get everything out so quickly, but they do! I wish I ordered my pancakes so be extra crispy and the short ribs were a little more tender and fall off the bone, but this was a great restaurant that we return to often. We found this place after eating next door for so long and were craving that tofu soup. It's a pretty small establishment and the parking situation is also kinda small. They were able to serve maybe four or five parties at a time. We opted for their tofu soup extra spicy. It came out with some banchan. It was pretty fast service. However- I don't know if I liked how their soup tasted as an extra spicy level. It felt covered with lots of the gochugaru powder and the broth was almost thick with how much they put. I don't think I'd re-order it again at that spice level. Felt very mom-and-pop kinda business vibe and was happy to support a small business. read more

One of the first and only Korean spots near us that we stumbled upon when we moved to YL... and boy are we glad we did. It is a very small hole in the wall restaurant. Nothing fancy with maybe 10 tables inside and no outdoor dining. The ladies working there are very nice, there is a slight language barrier but they try and are really accommodating. There are plastic partitions to separate each table to put those concerned with COVID at ease. Masks are required per the signs they have everywhere and all the workers do wear them. I am not Korean but I sure do enjoy Korean food so I won't claim to be the expert but this place seems pretty legit to me. I usually get the spicy pork combo with kimchi beef soup while my hubs gets the pork bone soup. The kids enjoy the kalbi dish. All the sides, soup and main dishes are on point. Flavor is nice and not too oily. I love spicy food so the only negative is the spice level. I always ask for extra spicy but it's barely mild for me. (That might be a ME issue more than anything) Pricing for the quality and amount of food you get is great. I would highly recommend giving Da Rae a try. read more

This is the ONLY local Korean restaurant in the CSUF area. I generally drive to Garden Grove or La Mirada/Buena Park for Korean food, but this is next to the house. I tried this a few years ago and it was just okay for the price and quality. Always wished it was better. Fast forward a few years later, I placed an order on the phone since I wanted spicy pork and tofu soup and picked it up 15 minutes later. The portions were big and the pork was extremely flavorful and tender. I enjoy fattier meats so this was the perfect texture and flavor for me. The tofu soup was also very good and better than the last time I ordered it. Included banchan was decent as well. Overall, the portions could be split into 2-3 meals and the price for a combo was about $32(?). Recently had tofu soup at my regular spot about 15 minutes away and Da Rae was much better taste, portion, and value wise. Will definitely come back the next time I feel like eating Korean food. After my friends and I failed to make it on time to get a spot at Mr. BBQ, we were all still craving Korean food and didn't want to drive too far again. I found this restaurant nearby, and decided to give it a chance. It's a pretty small store, and we were seated right away and immediately given menus, cold waters, and a complimentary Korean pancake! It was super nice to munch on while we looked over the menus. I will admit, the prices are pretty steep for a small Korean restaurant, but once the food arrived, I understood why. The portions were MASSIVE. As you can see in the pictures, everything was HUGE and steaming hot. The tofu soup is the only thing I would say was average sized but overpriced, although I would still think it's decent soup. We basically took leftovers for everything except for the steamed dumplings (absolutely so tender, full of flavor, must order). The tteokbokki is SPICY. I'm not sure whether you can adjust the spice or not, but it's definietly more on the hotter side as even me and my boyfriend who are spice freaks were struggling to eat a lot of it. The noodles and rice cakes still have really good texture and taste, but I would really only order this with a large group of people that can finish it on the spot as there was a lot of leftovers that didn't taste good reheated. The two hot stone bibimbaps were amazing, love how they brought it out on giant hot stone plates instead of the traditional bowl. Portion sizes out of this world. All the veggies and meat were perfect and you could adjust the amount of sauce you put in. Easily could be split between two, maybe three people. Overall, genuinely such a great meal that satisfied us. We definietly ordered too much for four people, as we had bags of leftovers. I could see this being a great restaurant for big parties, or sharing one/two things on the menu between a small group. I could see how hardworking the Korean ladies were in the kitchen and we felt like we were checked up on lots of times and got us things like drinks, napkins, or sauces pretty fast. Hands down my favorite comfort food. Spicy pork Spicy Chicken BBQ ribs It's got a great spice not actually spicy, a hint of sweetness and incredible texture when it's on the cast iron. Kinda dry crisp on the outside and firm perfectly cooked meat. During these covid times I've ordered takeout a number of times and it's not the same bc of the steam in a togo but still great flavor nonetheless. "Banchan" or side dishes are a brilliant medley of mostly pickled veggies. I love their kimchi with a passion. I can't find a store bought equivalent. Tis the season of hot afternoons and cooler evenings. I'd eat tofu soup on the hottest day of the season but its just that much more delicious when it hits "soup weather." Opted to try Da Rae BBQ for the first time. The restaurant is fairly small with only about 8 tables. Although all staff we encountered were extremely friendly, the service wasn't really there (only two parties, including us were dining in at the time). Service was a bare minimum to take our order, drop off food, and bring our check but we didn't get checked up on for water or banchan refills like most other restaurants throughout our stay. Banchan's were served in a cafeteria style tray per person with the exception of the leek pancake which was shared. The banchan consisted of kimchi, cucumbers, bean sprouts, fish cake, and large chunks of pickled radish. Beef Tofu Soup ($13): I ordered this mild which come with a bowl of rice - was hoping to get the rice in a stone pot since I love the crispy rice portion but it doesn't seem they do that here. The soup had an unfamiliar subtle taste than most of the tofu houses I've been to (perhaps more anchovies) and was more on the bland side. Maybe we came on an off day or ordered the wrong items but I unfortunately did not get my cravings satisfied. read more

Our friends recommended this restaurant when we were visiting them in Fullerton. We ended up ordering takeout, and did so over the phone. It took about 30 minutes for the food. We ordered the yukgyejang (spicy beef soup) and soon tofu. I don't know if it was just that day, but the yukgyejang was really really bland. The color was vibrant and red, as it should be, but it tasted like slightly spicy hot water. There was absolutely no salt in the soup broth. Our friends did indicate that they don't remember it being so bland, so maybe they just forgot the salt that day. The rest of the food (banchan, bulgogi, friend's soon tofu) seemed to be seasoned and was actually tasty. I'm not sure I'd give this place another chance considering there's so many more Korean restaurants in the Fullerton area. read more

Absolute worst experience ever! The staff was beyond rude, inattentive and weren't willing to refill our banchan. There were only two older female employees working when we came and they literally stayed in the back the entire time. All the other patrons in the restaurant were frustrated and annoyed. I've been coming to this spot for years and it's consistently the best Korean spot I've been to in the whole Anaheim, Fullerton, Placentia, and Yorba Linda area. The LA Galbi Ribs and BoSam are dope. The seafood pancake is on another level and their combinations with soup are delicious. My first time to have Korean soup for take out, and seriously I'm awe! Apparently I got the side dish as well! and they give the rice too! Rice is life my friend, at least for me! They gave the pancake too! Oh yeah! Seriously when husband came with a box, I was so surprisingly happy!!! We ordered the ox bone soup and the pork bone soup, with stir fried squid! It was so good, and it's even still good when I ate it the next day, since it's a lot, I kept some for the next day. What I realized though, they gave me salt which means I need to add it, to suit my saltiness! But it's the original taste that really is good! The meat was so juicy, fresh and tender! My daughter even loves the bone broth! My husband says, the soup it's so refreshing and since he's a picky eater, I know I'm right that the food is good! Da Rae is a solid Korean restaurant that we frequently visit to get bimbimbap. The portions are good, and food quality is generally solid. The bimbimbap is around $14 - the menus online do report it lower, but I'm assuming they are outdated. We also order the chicken hot stone bimbimbap from time to time. We were in a bit of a hurry since heavy traffic left us with less time than planned to grab dinner before a comedy show, but luckily we were seated right away and the service was efficient with food coming out timely but still tasty. We were given banchan soon after we were seated and refills were brought without having to request it, which is always appreciated. Banchan was all very tasty. We were delightfully surprised to receive a complimentary scallion Korean pancake with the banchan - crispy yet tender with delicious dipping sauce. We both ordered bibimbap - one kimchi and one bulgogi. Well-balanced ingredients, good portion size, delicious bulgogi. Closest korean restaurant to where I live so went in to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. It looks like your basic hole in the wall but the food was on point!! Quality of banchan (side dishes) and main entrees is great. There are definitely a lot of subpar mom and pop korean restaurants in north Orange County so I definitely appreciate having this in the area. Service is also great. Super quick and friendly. The only thing Is they're closed on Sundays and I would go a lot on Sundays since I pass by it every Sunday but I understand people need a break so gotta respect that. They left us standing at the door when plenty of tables were available only to seat us at the table that we could have sat at and looked at the menu. After ordering, the table that came after us (which insisted of all koreans) got their food first, then our food came out. (im korean, but I had a fillipino friend with me). Not once did they ask if our food was good or asked if we wanted more water. It was disappointing. Food: food was okay. Your standard local korean food place. Idk if it was just me but it may contain a bit too much sodium or msg because my hands definitely felt a bit swollen from saltiness after. This place is seriously hidden. It's right behind the Japanese yakitori restaurant in front. The fiancé wanted soup cuz it was cold outside, and apparently this tiny place had a wait... I guess others were cold and looking for something soothing for the soul. We ended up getting Mushroom and beef tofu soup with bulgogi combo. And one large seafood pancake. This was alot of food and we had to bring half of the pancake home. The cool thing is that before the meal they give you banchan to snack on. I'm sure they're refillable like most other Korean restaurants do... But we didn't ask for refills, so I'm not 100% sure... Even before the banchan, they provide a small green onion pancake and cold tofu to start the meal. The food was solid and priced well, i think most Korean Tofu soup places have "higher" pricing for something simple like tofu, but it's the banchan you're also paying for. The pancakes goes well with the red sauce or the ponzu/soy sauce they provide you. At the end if the meal, they provide a rice drink that aids digestion. We came here on a cold day wanting some warm yet comfort food. I was craving for soft tofu soup and this place hit the spot for me! My husband ordered the stone plate Bibimbap. Both were super yummy. You get an egg to go with your tofu soup which I think it's pretty standard and all the side dishes. It is pricey in my opinion- $16 for tofu. But the food is quality. Besides the pricey cost, I think the service could be friendlier. I had asked for a refill for the kimchi because it's sooo good there, and the lady did give me some, but not without a strict admonition that this is out of norm because no to go for side dishes. It's a small hole-in-the-wall kind of place. I recommend it for you to give it a try as the food is worth it, but don't expect top notch customer service! read more

Love this little mom and pop shop; it's truly one of the most authentic Korean restaurants in the area! I miss sitting in their store, but they have really worked with providing safe handling of food for covid safety. I love all their items, especially any of the soups, including soonduboo (tofu soup). My husband loves their soup with a huge rib. Their meat dishes are flavored to perfection. Even though it's takeout, they provide all the side dishes for takeout as well- so you're not missing out! It's honestly a flavor of home cooking without having to cook at home and know that you are supporting a small business. Everyone is always friendly and kind. They now even offer curbside pick up (car delivery) if requested upon your phone order. Come and support their restaurant. Comes with the free sides and a scallion pancake which was very tasty. Boyfriend got the steamed pork with steamed Napa cabbage, which came with a small soup. He said it's the best he's ever had of that dish. We also got the steamed dumplings as appetizer which was tasty. Everything was authentic and tasty. Great portion and reasonably priced. Together our bill was about $40. About 10 tables. Casual but clean and very mom and pop.
