My family and I visited for dinner, and there was roughly a ten-minute wait. Interestingly, they now have an all-day, cash-only special menu for select items, such as bibimbap and soon tofu soup. This time, we got the chicken bulgogi with mushroom beef soon tofu soup combo ($31), bulgogi hot stone pan bibimbap ($22), and pork cutlet ($20). The server is really nice and usually prompt with requests, though she may need a friendly reminder when things get really busy. We first got a complementary scallion pancake appetizer. I thought it tasted a little bland, but the tangy sauce helped flavor it. The banchan included, among others, kimchi, broccoli, fish cake, and sweetened potato salad. I wish the side dishes arrived before our orders, though. I enjoyed the kimchi and sweetened potato salad the most. The flavor diversity made this meal enjoyable. All our main orders tasted delicious and flavorful. The mushroom beef soon tofu soup was a tad salty for my palate, but I enjoyed the hearty flavor coming from the beef. The chicken bulgogi was nicely sweet, though some of the pieces were fatty. The pork cutlet arrived as a big dish with long, thin slices. I wish the pork was more flavorful, but it tasted better after we requested katsu sauce. Overall, this is a solid Korean restaurant for big portions of food. During dinnertime at about 7 pm, it was loud as the restaurant is rather small. Next time, I'd want to bring cash next time to try their all-day special menu. For example, soon tofu soup and bibimbap would each cost $13. An order of bulgogi would cost $15. I think that's a good deal to try out. read more

Da Rae is my favorite spot for lunch close to my job! It's a bit hidden in a plaza right next to a busy intersection, so I got lucky when I found this place. Da Rae is a small spot, with about 12 tables total and a couple of aunties waiting tables and running food. Their menu is extensive, and the prices are affordable when you put the portion sizes in perspective. My go-to is the bulnak tofu soup, which has beef and baby octopus. Their banchan spread is also amazing, and their radish kimchi is very good. If I could I would eat here for lunch every day! read more

Randomly looking for Korean food in Fullerton and stumbled upon this restaurant. Parking is pretty spacious. We were greeted by friendly ahjummas (?) and ordered a couple of items from their All Day Special. Was pleasantly surprised by the portion size, especially the seafood pancake - which was so flaky and filled with a lot of seafood. Most other places I've tried, the seafood pancake comes out dry. The price does add up though but for yummy food, it's worth! Sad to see that it's temporarily closed as this is definitely a reliable Korean spot in Fullerton area. Little shop with very friendly staff, and I knew the food was going to be good when I kept seeing other Koreans coming in and out. I'm not Korean so I cannot attest to the authenticity but if there are that many other Koreans visiting it must be pretty authentic. At first, I thought the items on the menu were expensive but I understood why it was priced that way when it came out. The portion sizes are really big and it's meant to feed groups of people and you also get bonchon (side dishes) included with the meal too. We were craving "soup" during a chilly winter night. Yelp suggested a nearby Korean Tofu Soup. The Da Rae BBQ Restaurant is not well lite in the late hours. The small restaurant is located behind another Japanese restaurant and wedge between car wash express. The restaurant is very cramped and establishment hasn't be updated for some time so looks outdated. There are approximately 8 tables accommodating small family or groups. Being 1.5 hours before closing, we were quickly seated, orders taken and food came out fairly soon. The only complaint was two items were missed and we had to remind the owner. Ironically, those were "bbq" items. haha! The banchans (complementary side dishes) were good. The kimchi and cucumbers were the best. We ordered a side of japchae (cold glass noodles) and it was disappointing. The tofu combo soup is delicious and flavorful. There are option for spice level so amp it up if you can handle the heat. A hidden gem in Fullerton, right next to the tanning salon inside of the strip mall that has Target (and for those of you that are local, it's where Payless used to be) When you drive up to it, you wouldn't expect much as the exterior is pretty lackluster with a little podium that has a waitlist sheet clipped to it. There's also a fold out table and picnic chairs outside set up for "outdoor seating" Upon walking inside, kind of the same vibe, things are very homey looking, and the first thing I noticed was that they still had their plexiglass dividers up (which I think is a huge plus cuz, they aren't hurting anyone and who's gonna get mad at a little added layer of germ or Covid protection??) The staff is so friendly, your classic crew of Korean aunties. The dining area is small and the kitchen area is even smaller but, this is the tell tale sign that the food is going to be good. And this was proven when I ordered my food (to go) and enjoyed it at home. I got a beef and veggie stew and it was seasoned perfectly, big chunks of beef, and came with all the side dishes you would get dining in (all of which were also really tasty) The only unfortunate part of this trip was that I was so famished I completely blanked on taking photos of my meal when I returned home but, I will be back and definitely update my review with food pics in the near future!! Was feeling a little homesick and nostalgic and their bantering tone sent my homesickness away! It was good to see them completely full on friday evening which means they're popular and there's a lot out front which also gets very full. We got soon dobu (asked for extra extra spicy, but got moderate because I think they were worried my order would backfire), bibimbap which comes on hot stone sizzler plate, not the dolsot bowl you're used to, but this makes it nicer to evenly crisp the rice and gives you a lot of breathing room, and spicy nneungmyun. As usual, each entrée comes with complimentary scallion pancakes, banchans and we also got barley tea. We're almost vegetarian and found a lot of options to share and split! This place has been in my radar, I finally visited with my family. At first sight, looks very small, and maybe even questionable, but.. you know what they say, never judge a book by its cover. Located in a semi hidden location surrounded by larger businesses and Target, easily could be missed. There is plenty of parking in front and in the surrounding area. I read plenty of reviews about the bad costumer service, we did not experience that at all. We were seated, greeted and give menus almost immediately. Came in as a large party and we were treated like everyone else. The food was good, it came our pipping hot and freshly made. My favorite Korean dish is Bibimbap, very simple nothing crazy but the crispy rice is my absolute favorite. My food was so hot that I had to wait a few minutes to eat, which was perfect because I was able to try all the fixing first. It was the worst meal I've had to pay for in maybe a decade. I'm giving 1 extra star considering it wasn't long after the pandemic shutdown. But regardless of the state of business, that filth was not something you should dare serve a paying customer. Whenever I crave for Gamja-tang (Korean Pork and Potato Stew,) this is the place I always come without thinking since they do it right. And, it helps that they are close to where I live. Their food might not be pungent and strong like other Korean restaurant but I can assure you that it means they don't use any chemical condiment such as MSG. As always, the servers are very quick and nice. Before they put down the boiling pot in front of me, they make sure that I understand that it is VERY hot. They also move the dishes aside for a spot. I do appreciate their "heads-up" because you do get so caught up eating their tasty banchans (side dishes) and forget that there is a super hot pot that is about to land in front of you. Found this gem of a Korean restaurant in Fullerton. The owner greeted us as we walked in and was friendly and full of energy. She took care of our party of 7 and food came out fast. Food was delicious and had generous portions. We ended sharing the entrees and splitting it amongst our party due to the portion size being so large. One of our friends who was with us was celebrating her birthday and the owner even taught us how to sing Happy Birthday in Korean! The owner felt like the Korean auntie that I never had! (Could be my allergies though) I enjoyed the food as it gave off a home cooking meal vibes. The beef portion was very small compared to the seafood and especially the tofu. I've found a favorite Korean family-owned business in the area! We were craving Korean food for dinner and came here on a weekday night. 1) Spicy Cold Noodle (bibim naengmyun): chilled buckwheat noodles garnished with cold slices of radish, cucumber with red spicy chili sauce. Ironically, even though I'm not super into spicy food, I love the taste of bibim noodles. The sauce is on point - with that combination of sweet and spicy. There are definitely oodles of noodles (they provide you with scissors) so you can cut them into bite sizes; otherwise, the noodles are SUPER long (5/5) 2) Beef short rib soup (galbitang): I loove getting my fix of galbitang. There's plenty of meat in the soup, and interestingly enough, it comes OFF the bone (usually other places serve you with bone-in). It's still flavorful though. After my friends and I failed to make it on time to get a spot at Mr. BBQ, we were all still craving Korean food and didn't want to drive too far again. I found this restaurant nearby, and decided to give it a chance. It's a pretty small store, and we were seated right away and immediately given menus, cold waters, and a complimentary Korean pancake! It was super nice to munch on while we looked over the menus. I will admit, the prices are pretty steep for a small Korean restaurant, but once the food arrived, I understood why. The portions were MASSIVE. As you can see in the pictures, everything was HUGE and steaming hot. The tofu soup is the only thing I would say was average sized but overpriced, although I would still think it's decent soup. We basically took leftovers for everything except for the steamed dumplings (absolutely so tender, full of flavor, must order). The tteokbokki is SPICY. I'm not sure whether you can adjust the spice or not, but it's definietly more on the hotter side as even me and my boyfriend who are spice freaks were struggling to eat a lot of it. The noodles and rice cakes still have really good texture and taste, but I would really only order this with a large group of people that can finish it on the spot as there was a lot of leftovers that didn't taste good reheated. The two hot stone bibimbaps were amazing, love how they brought it out on giant hot stone plates instead of the traditional bowl. Portion sizes out of this world. All the veggies and meat were perfect and you could adjust the amount of sauce you put in. Easily could be split between two, maybe three people. Overall, genuinely such a great meal that satisfied us. We definietly ordered too much for four people, as we had bags of leftovers. I could see this being a great restaurant for big parties, or sharing one/two things on the menu between a small group. I could see how hardworking the Korean ladies were in the kitchen and we felt like we were checked up on lots of times and got us things like drinks, napkins, or sauces pretty fast. Went here last week for the first time and absolutely loved it! I ordered the hot stone Bibimbap with chicken. It was super tasty and I felt like it was so healthy! The rice on the bottom gets crispy and is so delicious! There is only one thing to be aware of - the hot stone plate comes out steaming... and doesn't stop steaming for quite a while. But don't let that deter you from it, even if it wilts your hairstyle. It is one of my new favorite dishes. Absolutely love it! The service was also very good.
