"I literally order sushi, watch 'Law & Order,' and go to sleep at 9 o'clock every night. I'm a grandmother." -- Bella Hadid I know the feeling Bella ;-) This place is an excellent mom and pop Japanese restaurant with a surprisingly good saki list. The corkage fee was reasonable too. It was either $15 or $20. We had a variety of apps and sushi and I would definitely return again. You cannot go wrong here. Order your favorites. Highly recommended.

This hole in the wall restaurant definitely deserves 5 stars! I would recommend making reservations since it is a small restaurant and there's only one person working in the front - serving/ packaging to-go and answering phone calls. The service was amazing and she was constantly checking up on us and refilling my hot tea. I ordered a variety of sushi and yellow tail cheek. Everything was delicious and I love the size proportion of the sushi. The fish was fresh, I definitely would recommend the halibut/ albacore/ tuna sushi and negitoro roll. The price was reasonable especially for the quality. Definitely will be back to try some more daily specials!

Very good small Japanese restaurant. The Maguro Don was amazing. The maguro was fresh and the rice was perfect temperature. As for service goes, they don't have many working, so expect service to slow down when there are a lot of customers. We had no issue during lunch when there's 4-5 tables filled. Ambiance reminds me of family owned Japanese restaurant in Japan.

Maguroya is simply the best sushi in North OC. We have been regularly coming here for the last 20 years, and there are very few sushi restaurants that are comparable. Everything is just simple and super high quality, no gimmicky rolls or exotic items. Reservations are required, so plan to call ahead.

Super quiet at Maguroya tonight with only one other couple in the booth next to us. We were promptly seated and brought water upon request. I ordered the three item combo with chicken teriyaki, California roll and Sukiyaki. All of it was very good. We have ordered to go before but first time we have sat down and ate in. Food was good and staff was delightful.

Our server wasn't very personable but also not rude or terrible. I felt a little rushed even with a small menu. Being that I had never been there before, I wasn't sure what to get so I pretty much just blurted out whatever. What we ordered: 1) Black deluxe chicken paitan with pork - the broth was so tasty, it was absolutely delicious. The pork slices were generous, however, it was DRY. 2) Pork chashu - for my kid. They loved the broth as well and also felt that the pork slices were dry. I wanted to give 4 out of 5 stars, but I am going to hand them a 3. I loved the tasty broth, but the pork was too dry. How could you mess that up as a ramen restaurant? The portions looked a little smaller than what I am used to paying for much less money. That photo of my black deluxe chicken paitan with pork is very deceiving. It looks like a lot, but it definitely wasn't. I usually can't finish my bowl of ramen in one sitting and take the other half home. I barely had any broth in there, and being that the broth was very good, I was disappointed to run out of it before I was even done with the noodles and meat. Would I return? Sure. I liked the food. It's not a place I would go out of my way to eat at, but if I was around the neighborhood and wanted ramen, I would dine there again.

We were told to choose one sauce to go with our meals. I went with a shrimp bowl and ginger sauce. We sat down and were chit chatting. The cashier brought our sauces and forks. Then we waited and waited and soon it had been over 30 minutes with no food in sight. We decided we couldn't dine in and would be eating hibachi at our desks. I told the cashier to pack our food to go cause we had to get back to the office. She was VERY apologetic and said they had new cooks who were slow. When she brought the food to our table, she again apologized, said she really wanted us to come back, and said Tuesday and Wednesday are their busiest days. She recommended we come on a Monday so we would have more time to dine in. To compensate she gave us a bag filled with at least 20 sauces, multiples of each sauce on the menu. Made it back to work with 5 minutes to spare! I slowly grazed on my food as I worked. Had I been starving, I could have finished the bowl, but I ended up having about 1/4 left, breakfast for tomorrow! The food was really good, on par with any sit down hibachi restaurant. I tried the ginger sauce, teriyaki sauce, and garlic butter, all of them were really tasty. The shrimp bowl on it's own is $23, which I think is too much. But I would definitely go back for the 2 for $25 deal, I think that's worth it. Glad my coworkers brought me here, i'm looking forward to having it for lunch again!
