I tried Saigon Noodle House a last week and it was so good. A true hidden gem in north Orange County. I got a mom and pop locally owned feeling when I arrived. There are both booths and tables. I was welcomed and invited in. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the fried rice with shrimp, chicken, pork and beef altogether and a Vietnamese iced tea. The food was piping hot, the portion was hefty and it tasted like homemade meal. I am hooked on this place and looking forward to trying more items on the menu. Nothing like pho on a rainy day...and Saigon Noodle House is the place to go for just that! My mother and I went around 6pm on a Monday. It was pouring down rain, which meant it wasn't too crowded inside except for a few other patrons. We ordered for take out and got 3 phos with rare beef and 2 orders of spring rolls. This place has some of the best pricing for pho. I've been to other places that charge around 15 for a bowl where SNH charges 13 for a large. Not bad. It's also a lot of food! We were told to sit and wait while our orders were prepared. We were also given a free Thai tea! I had actually never had Thai tea before and I LOVED it. Not sure why they did it, though? Other reviews said they do it with different seasons? The other person waiting also got tea. No complaints here with that :) We received our food 10 minutes or so after ordering. The spring rolls were a good size and very filling. The pho broth stayed warm all throughout the drive home and when being eaten. The staff was very kind and you can tell it's a family business. It's a windy day today, the cold air blowing against your face making you wish for that moment Summer was back. Although not so cold to where you couldn't be outside, but cold enough to where you could have a hot bowl of pho because who wants to deal with the California summer heat? If you're in the Yorba Linda area, it might not be so easy to find us hot bowl of pho but luckily there's a place called Saigon noodle House. It might be hard to see, and you would almost think that it's still being built but it's due to the vinyl covering on the windows. Which I never understood why restaurants would want to cover the fact that "hey, we're open and come on in for our delicious noodles!" But I understand that they may have their reasons. Now I'll start by saying that this isn't the greatest bowl of pho that I've had. Nope! Not by a long shot although I've been known to be a very critical food reviewer. You could blame my mom for making me that way. But take this review as a lesson on how you can mitigate your way to having a great pho experience. The important thing to know is that this dish has the ability to change and morph its flavor, and you have the power in your hands to do so. I'm sure that a lot of people who come in not being very well experienced with this dish might just start digging into it as it is, which, if that's how you like the broth by all means, go ahead. I always like to start by taking a sip of the broth to see what I'm working with and to me it needed some finessing. (Lingo for the young crowd) This is a fine example of a pho that needs to be tuned to your flavor profile before you can actually enjoy it. Some might prefer a sweet and spicy flavor profile where you would add the hoisin and sriracha sauce to the broth. Or maybe you want a little bit of lime and jalapeños for that citrusy with a bit of spice kick! Mine definitely needed a bit of everything. More lime than anything. With my regular sized bowl it takes about 3 lime wedges, a dash of pepper, a slight squeeze of sriracha to make my soup the way I like it. But sometimes it can be hard to get the amount of limes you need to make it happen as some places are stingy with their toppings. This place we didn't have trouble as we asked for it, we just didn't get the extra limes we asked for until we were halfway done with our bowl. But once it came and I squeeze the juice out of two extra lime wedges, the pho was delicious. I had a meatball pho so you know I was dipping the meatballs into a hoisin and sriracha mix that I had made on the side to alter my experience a bit with each bite. And if you didn't know that, grab the hoisin bottle and sriracha bottle, squeeze a bit of each onto a plate, mix it, then dip your meat into it. You're welcome. All in all, it wasn't a great bowl but it wasn't a terrible bowl, but it's there to help you have a little bit of Vietnam during these cold and windy days & bring some warmth to sooth your soul. read more

First visit is ok. Some good... some questionable things? So, I'm going to rate them as "a-ok" and try again to try other dishes. Ambiance is hard to explain; mismatched furniture, food and drink storage in some of the booths, stuff just laying about like my 16 yo's room. It is almost like this is his house and he is serving customers in his garage. I ordered Bun with grilled chicken. A couple minutes (I mean literally like 2 mins) after I order I get up to use the restroom and my food was being delivered. Great if I'm in a hurry ... but how on earth did you grill my chicken that fast? Or was it sitting in a warming tray? How long was it in the tray? You can't grill some chicken on a grill real fast and let me smell the yumminess? Whatever... bottom line is the food was good enough to try again. Great service and excellent food! It's a cute little spot in a newish looking plaza. Loved their pho, it was too hot but it did cool down fairly quickly. It's not bad. It just could be a lot better. Went in at a not busy early dinner hour and ordered vermicelli with bbq pork and egg roll combo, along with pork sausage rolls as appetizers. Food: Ive been addicted to bbq pork with vermicelli for a bit now and ive had it from different places to find a good one in my area- this place wasnt one. Excuse my ignornace if this IS pork, but it really didnt have much seasoning or char to it...it felt more like oden or fish cake of some sort. Service: not the friendliest server, but i can live with it-its asian place. But ignoring me because you are too busy watching your show while I am asking for chopstick 3 times (and i currently work at a restaurant. I know my voice level wasnt low enough to be drowned in noises going around) and when i finally stand up, go to register and ask for a chopstick, and he just pointed finger at the area they keep the chopstick, basically hinting at me to get it myself was not it. First time here and only came here because we had a gift certificate since Dec. Today was a cold Wednesday evening and craving for pho for this kind of weather. Unfortunately, I gave this place 3 Stars because if you just wanted something warm I would give this place a pitch. I had the Pho Tom (shrimp) and the broth was very very bland, I even put two different sauces (chili & hoisin) and still not any better. My friend ordered Dac Biet and had the same reaction with his soup/broth. Both orders were very bland that we had to ask for the Nuc Bao aka fish sauce. My homemade "Top Ramen" seasoning package had more flavor than my pho. The waiter was an older guy like either it's the owner or somehow related to the owner. Not only was the pho is bland, we order egg rolls that came in four and no romaine lettuce to wrap the egg rolls. Yup, the sauce was bland not sweet or sour. Our server was slow but he tried his best to keep up since he was the only person there to take orders, phone calls, bring the food out and be the cashier. I most likely will not be coming back here I'd rather drive out a little further out to Westminster or SGV for some real homecook Vietnamese food. Located in a shopping center with several other businesses and eateries (body boot camp, KFC, sushi house, sprint store, starbucks (coming soon) chipotle (coming soon). The location has about 10+ booths along the wall with a few tables in front. It can get busy but the food comes out quick and their ready to order. They offer a daily special for $10.50 (Pho w/rare beef, Soda, egg rolls). Pretty good deal for being on a budget. They offer 1 TV that usually has the game on. The menu like most Vietnamese restaurants offer rice plates, pho, vermechili noodles, spring rolls, egg rolls, fried rice, ban mi, etc. The service is okay but the quality of food makes me keep coming back. read more

TL;DR Won't eat here again. Didn't even finish the food. My girlfriend and I decided to try this pho place than our usual spot. Went on a Saturday afternoon. Not busy; only 1 other couple. 1) Venue Looks big on the outside but small inside. Left half of place had a bunch of tables/booth/chairs all pushed and stacked as if they were moving 2) Missing ingredients We both ordered pho. My bowl didn't come with all ingredients listed (forgot meatball) and skimped out on the rest (minimal tripe) 3) Old Vegetables The basil leaves were bruised and wilted; the bean sprouts were old and the jalapenos were slivers 4) Spoiled Meat The meat tasted and smelled old. Looking into it, it had spots meaning it grayed a little. Makes sense given the taste. The trip tastes old, too 5) Staff To top it off, the waiter was kind but he smelled like an ashtray and his hands were dirty. We didn't eat half of it, but just paid and left.
