Butter Chicken Cauliflower Flatbread

If you're in a snacking mood and want to try a variety of dishes with a group - this is your spot. The menu at Da Gama was made up primarily of shared appetizer dishes, all unique and inspired by Indo-Portuguese flavors. This spot is a recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand award (not to be mistaken to have a Michelin star). Our group sat outside and our waitress accommodated our table by placing heat lamps around us since it was around 60 degrees in the evening. What we ordered for 5 people: 4.5/5 - Samosas. $14 for 4 samosa: Filling was at a medium spice level, tolerable, flavorful and heavily spiced! These were a great starter. 5/5 - Queijo Da Gama: The sourdough bread was perfect! Garlicy, and toasted perfectly. The goat cheese and tomato chutney resembled flavors of a shakshuka. 3/5 - Butter Cauliflower Naan Pizzette: I couldn't identify the butter curry flavor in this dish. The cauliflower was good but didn't add a lot to the dish. It was a cheese flatbread. The flatbread was delicious though. 4/5 - Milho Kofta Curry: Loved the sweetness of the corn. Kofta was soft and complimented the curry. This dish came with a small serving of rice. 3.5/5 - Lamb Kebabs: I'm picky about ordering lamb, and I'd probably pass on this dish here. I wish there was a stronger grilled/smoky flavor since that would've made up for the flavor. The carrot raita is slightly spicy and a nice addition to the heaviness of the dish. 5/5 - Fried Yuka: This was my favorite dish of them all. Crispy and soft -- just perfect with the dipping sauces that came with it! This was on the drink menu (along with a few other kitchen items not on the main menu). 5/5 Beef Kebabs: Beef was cooked perfectly. This is a must order! Service was great! This place is on the pricy side per dish but is a fun experience especially if you're coming with a group who likes to try spicy / spiced food.

I've been to Da Gama several times over the past few years, but recently decided to try again since they recently received the Michelin bib gourmand award. Reservations are not necessary, but encouraged due to indoor seating can get full. Outdoor patio seating is available with ample lighting and heaters. Self parking and valet option on the weekend. Dined on a Sunday evening with no reservation, but we were able to be seated inside. Server was pleasant and answered any questions we had. Not a major issue, but our server wasn't the one who would deliver our food. The one who did bring out the food didn't know who was getting what food and mistakenly brought someone else's food to our table several times. Didn't expect mix ups like this since I hadn't experienced it here before. The food itself was good. We enjoyed the baked goat cheese (quiejo da Gama), goan fish curry, and the lamb kebab. The fish curry could use a little more spice to it, but it was enjoyable. The lamb kebab was deceivingly tender. It may look overcooked on the outside, but the inside was just right. Flavorful as well. Wished it came with a side though. Overall thoughts - worth trying at least once, but be prepared for small portions for the price point. Nice date spot, however music can be slightly loud.

My friend and I came here for a girls dinner and it was such a pleasant surprise. The MKT area has a lot of parking, though it's usually pretty crowded however we got lucky with parking nearby. I'd highly recommend this fusion Indian-Portuguese restaurant for some great food, really delicious drinks and a calm atmosphere. We ordered family style and our waitress was really kind and patient with explaining the menu. The Fish Curry, Lamb Kebab and Garlic Naan were all so delicious. We also ordered some cheese bread and several drinks. Everything was so tasty and it was an overall great experience. Kudos to them for the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for 2025! I can see why they received such an amazing achievement.

Da Gama is such a fun spot and definitely worth visiting. There is plenty of parking, although it gets very busy, so give yourself a few extra minutes. The restaurant is decorated super cute and has a warm, inviting vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. The menu is amazing with so many creative and flavorful options. We tried Mum's Curry, the Crab Pani Puri, and the Piri Piri Chicken. Everything was delicious, but the chicken was the standout. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and full of flavor. Great atmosphere, great food, and a place I would happily return to

Came in for a birthday dinner with a party of about 10, and we had a great time! De Gama is so cutesy on the inside with more space than meets the eye from the outside. There's a night vibe with dimmer lighting. The mix of Portuguese and Indian food was interesting and I feel that it should happen more! This place is unique. The food itself was quite good, we tried the cauliflower patatas bravas (a cool take on aloo gobi), quiejo (if u like goat cheese, this one wasn't for me), the Milho Kofta Curry, bullet naan, and rasmalai cake. Drinks are also good here! I got nice mocktail Portion sizes are good. If you get a curry with naan and appetizers you can prob split between 2 but most of these are just meant to serve one! All of the food had good flavors to them and were quite unique. Our server was kind and speedy although I think our plates were sometimes gone before we were finished haha.

The weather is getting nicer and De Gama's patio is the perfect spot to enjoy it ! Seating: They have plenty of indoor seating, but they're patio is the noteworthy part! You're surrounded by plants and feel like you're in a tropical spot - almost makes you forget you're in Houston if the weather cooperates Food: I had the lunch special which comes with an appetizer (I had the soup), entree (curry), and dessert (date and banana muffin). Everything is delicious and the portion sizes aren't overwhelming ! Service: The staff is nice and the service is good. It did get a bit slow while I was waiting for the check (and it didn't seem like it was too busy). Parking: It is in the MKt shopping center and parking can be hard to find . In the evenings (and maybe on the weekends) they do have complimentary valet in the center for this reason

Delicious snapper and roasted carrots

Out biking along the Missouri Kansas Texas bike trail and this gem of a restaurant was calling our name for a nice little nosh. Locked up the bikes and grabbed a seat on the patio. Very nice ambiance with laid back service and staff. We started with a nice Oaxacan Rabbit Cocktail (a very well balanced Mezcal cocktail). Ordered the yummy yuca fries with an amazing seasoning sprinkled on top (very savory). We also did a Pizette (flatbread) topped with roasted cauliflower and also the blacken snapper with roasted carrots. When I tell you I could have eaten a plate of those roasted carrots. The flavor and seasoning of the carrots had me wanting more. The snapper was very delicious as well. Great experience at this beautiful modern restaurant.

Da Gama has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Houston. The atmosphere is modern and lively without being overwhelming, and the service is warm and attentive. Every dish feels both comforting and elevated at the same time. The pani puris were perfectly crisp and full of flavor, and the fish curry was tender with just the right amount of spice. It's the kind of place where you want to order a variety and share because everything is vibrant, beautifully plated, and delicious. Between the quality of the food, the unique menu, and the energy of the space, Da Gama is a must-visit!!

This is a haven of good food and good ambiance in Houston. Delicious food, good service. Food flavors are AMAZING! Love the Indian-Portuguese fusion! Recommended.

This is a stunning restaurant! Perfect for cocktails and date night. It's a bit pricy for what you get, but vibes are always spot on and food is beautifully presented. The staff is usually nice from my experience. We always order the Masala Hummus and Garlic Naan to start. The hummus has great flavor and comes with a side of vegetables. Garlic Naan is ordered as extra but always worth it. Mum's Chicken is my favorite main to order. The lamb is pretty good - we most recently ordered the kebabs but might go for the leeks next time as the kebabs were really pricy for just 2 sausages. The Crab Pani Puri, which pretty in presentation, is also kind of a rip off. All in all, this is a great place to visit!

Service was excellent- our waitress was so so kind!! We shared the mums chicken curry which was my least favorite- very lacking in flavor. However the goal fish curry was delicous- the flavor was spot on I just wish there was more meat to it. The kale and choriz naan pizzete was great and the croquettes were just alright.

Absolutely love De Gama! We've been here a couple times now, and are always impressed by the quality of food. Not only is the menu so innovative, but the flavor profile is just me so well and the food tastes amazing. The service is pretty friendly and the restaurant itself is great for anything ranging from date night to a night out with friends. Piri piri chicken: 5/5 the flavor is amazing, and the glaze somehow manages to seep into the chicken. The fries are crispy without being dry, and the sauces complement everything so well. Beef mishaki: 5/5 The meat was well seasoned, and while we were never fans of yucca, the fried yucca here has converted us. Garlic naan: 5/5 You can't go wrong with garlic naan

We had a great experience at Da Gama. We got the cassava bombas, sourdough naan, sweet potato kulcha, and chicken samosas. While I do not have a lot of experience in this genre of food, it was all wonderful. Our server was friendly, we enjoyed the ambience, and would like to come back and try more food. Of note- there is a lot of parking around the area.

Bar Buena was a surprise find after we participated in a cooking class at Sur La Table across the…read morestreet. After the byob cooking experience, we figured "why not!?" So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

We did hang out in their standing room area for a little bit but were able to order drinks and snag a table pretty quickly. When I tell you this is the friendliest service I've ever had at a bar or restaurant, I mean it! All different members of the staff were checking in with us to make sure we were having a good time and enjoying everything. We tried out three of their drinks: enamorada, uno amargo, and their classic frozen mezcal margarita. I say this as someone who is stupid about cocktails, but I think if you're a fan of old fashioneds you'll be a fan of the uno amargo - it'll put some hair on your chest! I loved the frothiness that the egg white brings to the enamorada but I think the frozen margarita was our winner. Imagine your favorite frozen marg but better - the mezcal brings an earthier flavor to a cocktail that us Texans all know and love. Finally for food we had the pato tinga memela, gulf crab tostadas, and carnitas flautas. I genuinely loved them all so much, every protein was so juicy bursting with flavor, which makes sense considering everything is made to order. If I had to pick a favorite I would struggle (I'm not kidding, it was all that good), but I think the crab tostadas won us over with their freshness. We had such a great first visit to bar buena and I can see this quickly becoming a cozy date or after dinner drink spot!

Clarkwood really does know what they're doing with these espresso martinis! I loved the added touch of the burnt marshmallow on mine, and the coffee seemed pretty good quality too. The second time I visited I also enjoyed their spicy watermelon margarita. Also amazing. It tasted a little bit like a spicy jolly rancher? SO good! They also let us know that if we posted and tagged them on our instagram, that we could receive a free round of shots. So, of course, me and my two friends posted to get some shots too. We were able to try the Mexican candy shot, the raspberry lemon drop shot, and the mini matcha martini shot. Honestly all were really good, but my favorite in order were the 1) raspberry lemon drop shot, 2) Mexican candy shot, then 3) the matcha martini shot. The matcha martini was good but as it's creamier, I think having it as an actual martini than a shot is more appropriate. Still, it's a great way to try a new drink and just sip on it rather than taking it as a shot. Also - the venue is so elegant and charming and such a cute spot for a date night. This weekend, I returned with fellow MBA classmates and was unexpectedly stopped at the door and asked whether we had a reservation or were on the guest list--a requirement that was not in place during my previous visit. We respected the boundary and began to leave. However, we later discovered that several of our classmates were seated inside without a reservation. The only difference was that they were dressed more formally, as they had come directly from our gala, while we had changed into business casual attire. I approached the bouncer to clarify the misunderstanding, and he admitted that the reason we were denied entry was because one of my classmates was wearing a sleeveless top and had a visible tattoo. While I appreciate his candor in that moment, it would have been far more respectful had he been transparent from the beginning. Unfortunately, the inconsistency, lack of honesty, and discriminatory treatment we experienced speak volumes about the establishment's values.

We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Stopped by The Hidden Bar for drinks and let me just say... the ambiance is EVERYTHING the…read moreaesthetic is super cute, very picture-worthy, and definitely gives that "night out with the girls" vibe. They even have a selfie ring light on the wall, which is such a fun touch for pictures (because if you didn't take pics, did you even go??) Now--fair warning--we went on a Friday night and it was PACKED. We were lucky enough to find seats, but it was so crowded we could barely talk without yelling, and we were basically shoulder-to-shoulder with the people around us Other than that, it's a really nice spot to grab drinks, hang out with friends, and get some cute content. Would I go again? Yes... just maybe not on a Friday night
