It was artistic, aesthetically beautiful, extremely high quality, and tasted just as good as it looked. Unfortunately, after picking it up, we made a mistake transporting it in the car and the cake completely fell apart on the way home. This was entirely OUR fault, not the bakery's. We brought it back about an hour later hoping there was anything they could possibly do to save it. What happened next is the reason I'm writing this review. The owner went completely above and beyond for us. She stayed HOURS later than she needed to, personally working to rebuild and restore our cake. She somehow managed to bring it back to life and make it beautiful again. She didn't charge us anything for all that extra time and work, and then, incredibly, even gave us another cake on the side. That kind of kindness and dedication to a customer is something I won't forget. I'm back at Pinho's again now for another birthday because after that experience, choosing where to get the cake wasn't even a question. Their cakes are beautiful, creative, high quality, and absolutely delicious, but it's the people behind them that made me a returning customer. 5/5 for the cake. 11/10 for the service. I called in asking if it might be fixable, and they told me that the person who does the fondant and handwriting didn't work on weekends but they could try to fix it with gum paste. Since the shower was in 24 hours, we took what we could get and brought the cake back. When I arrived they said they were going to try to remake the fondant ribbon, and remake it they did - in hours, way faster than we could have asked or hoped for! I fully understand businesses having policies, but customer service and reasonable flexibility matter -- especially for repeat customers and cancellations made almost immediately after ordering. Instead of working toward a fair resolution, I was simply referred back to the policy.
