First time at this location after being to Woodstock several times. Food was excellent as usual. Service, not so much. Aside from an awesome bus boy who made it his mission to get me the side salad that had been forgotten, we felt mostly ignored. No plates for our apps, no silverware, no refills. Food came out at different times. Maybe it was just a busy night? Also, there was a tiny piece of glass in a drink - weird. This restaurant is good for the most part besides slow service on occasion. The karaoke night they have is a big waste of time. Went tonight and the DJ was extremely rude to the people in my party for requesting country music. He rolled his eyes multiple times while we sang and blantly told one of our people in our group he hated country music when he requested a song to karaoke. This would have been my second visit here. My first visit was last Tuesday and the Philly cheesesteak sandwich was great, server slow. But that is all I can say about this place. So why did I only give this DC one star, I will tell you, simply the hostess. Extremely rude young girl. Well after waiting 20 minutes to get seated, (mind you there was only one other family waiting, which ended up getting seated) we waited. Our name was in the system and supposably we would be getting paged. Well she said she paged us, twice, but took the incorrect number down. Mind you, there is no waiting room in this restaurant. Was DC busy? Yes however we were the only ones waiting. Then another family walks in, right in front of us. And then they magically get seated right away. Two of people from our party is taller than 6'4 how did you not see us. So after these new customers got seated I asked why did you not seat us? Well I paged you twice. Okay well we were right here! How could you not see us? Her response...and I quote"I see a lot of people in a day" really. I bet you do. I served for 10 years you do not ever speak to a customer so rudely. Have been to DC Cobb's four times in the past couple months. Ordering online is very easy too and the food is ready in no time. We love this place, they always have fast service and the food is really good! The staff are always helpful and friendly. I really wanna like this place...its very cool inside, awesome outdoor area..good interesting burgers...however i was seriously disappointed in the portion of tots that i have received when i order food. First two times i didn't think much of it, the 3rd time i was like i literally have 12 tots on my plate i was kinda disappointed bc the tots cost extra money and there were 12 no joke i counted them 12, was like whatever its no big deal, so the 4th time i ordered a side of them bc i knew i wasnt gonna have enough...a side of tots which i believe almost cost 5 dollars, 18 tots...18??? Do not eat or drink at DC Cobbs McHenry me and my friend got sick not to mention they got my friends order wrong after waiting like 40 minutes they brought him the wrong burger then 2 minutes later bring us another one and then don't even take it off the check the silver ware was all dirty and if you get a cocktail forget cause they don't know how to make a simple whiskey sour so we order the special drink instead and they give us metal cup of pure alcohol and 2 burgers 4 drinks 75 bucks I think they need to call bar rescue read more

Had a burger that was ok, not great for the price. Upgraded the side to onion rings and they were awful and worst I've had.Tasted like breaded cardboard. Over cooked and nothing but breading. When manager asked how the food was I said the onion rings weren't good and he just moved on. I said the same thing to another server that asked and also got no response. If your not going to respond, don't ask the question. An update, went to one star. I was going to have my wifes left over Rueben sandwich for dinner. What a joke, there wasn't even enough meat to cover the mound of sauerkraut. My wife said when she was eating it she felt like she was just eating sauerkraut and I didn't believe her. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. We tried it twice and both times we did not like our meals. We didn't complain though, we have decided it's just not for us. We will probably try it once more after some time has passed as we want local places to thrive. In our experiences, the southwest chicken club had so much black pepper/spice on the chicken that my wife just took the chicken off and ate around it. I tried it and could not finish my bite due to the pepper and rubbery texture to the chicken. The first time there, the chicken was doused in black pepper/spice as well in the Caesar salad, just too over bearing for us. Also the soup of the day was all black pepper. My burger itself was terrific but the gluten free bun was dry/crumbly which I know it is difficult to get a good GF bun, so I solved it by removing the top of the bun. The gf bun at Dukes Alehouse is the best around for a burger that I have found in the area. Food is a tough business because people have different tastes and expectations. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff inside was awesome. We really wanted to like the food which is why we tried it two Fridays in a row. We like black pepper, seasonings and spicy food, but it was just completely overbearing on each dish and not in a good spicy way. read more

My husband and I usually eat dinner and have some drinks here and decided since we like it so much why not have our small but special celebration of our nuptials here. So we had a small wedding party celebration on the outside patio for about 50 people. We had pinwheels,Chicago style mac n cheese, mini sliders, avocado egg rolls, and bruschetta for appetizers. Our main dish we served beef,Mostaccioli, herb roasted chicken, garden salad, and baked potatoe salad. Our guests could not stop talking about how great ALL the food was. Josh the manager or maybe owner I think--was very accommodating and helped make everything perfect for our special celebration as well as the waitresses we had. He was very patient with my texting and e Mails to him about our menu. I would highly recommend this establishment for your next celebration or just for dinner. Again, the food is excellent!! Wow where do I start? I'll start with the good. Nice restaurant decor and location on the water, nice outdoor space and food was decent. And that's where it ends! Sat at the bar for 20 minutes before Demi the bartender even noticed us. Getting a wine took another 10 minutes and we had to pour our own. Classless. The service for our second time there was the pits! Wait staff and bar managers all playing on their phones and oblivious to any customer needs. All around us people had to wave or call out to a waitress or bartender for service. Another African American bartender actually took a sip of a customers drink, added mor ice, then served it to a guest across the bar! Puke! Then we were up charged for lobster bisque soup 4 bucks and .50 for BBQ sauce and au jus for our dinners. $44 and change for 2 glasses of wine, a beef sandwich and a bbq pork sandwich. You gotta be kidding me. Then a big argument between a couple yelling and cussing each other out, ruining our night out, and the staff completely oblivious to it all. Pathetic service. My family and I love DC Cobbs. It's a great family friendly place for lunch or dinner. The food is excellent. The environment is amazing with no lack in creativity. They also have a beautiful outdoor seating area by the water to enjoy dinner outside or just have a cocktail and watch the sunset. Cobbs is also one of my favorite places for a night out with friends as well. They often have great live music or a DJ depending on the night. I really do love DC Cobbs, I have always gone to the Woodstock location and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, my experience at the McHenry location was not the same. I ordered curbside pickup and they did not bering me a drink I ordered and everything was in separate containers. The online ordering service is very difficult to maneuver around so it may have been operator error but when I received the food it was cold and did not seem fresh even though I was there on time. This was on a Saturday night so it may be understandable, but I was very sad with the outcome of this meal. read more

I live in town, so I go here frequently and I've never had a bad experience. If you are visiting McHenry or new to the area I highly recommend you choose this place to dine at. It's definitely the best in town. The atmosphere is really nice (lots of fun decor on the walls to look at) and friendly staff. I love the nachos and the Italian beef wrap! I tried to make the same wrap at home...mine tasted nothing like it lol. Italian beef is expensive so $10 is a good price, and they give a good portion of it. I haven't tried the other food but I hear good things about the burgers. read more

After waiting 15+ minutes at the bar, not being served a drink and getting a beer accidentally spilled all over me by a drunk customer I decided to leave with my wife. Never going back. The young blonde bartender with the long hair serving the center of the bar began serving other customers over me and those customers didn't even wait nearly as long as I did. I even tried my best to flag her down, but she wouldn't even make eye contact with me and yet I was standing in the center of the bar at the front of the table. As a first time customer, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options on the menu, and the atmosphere complimented the homemade, homegrown, craft style of food. Two of us had wraps, which were generously filled. Another had the pulled pork; pretty tasty. Best hand cut steak fries I've had in a long time. Service was satisfactory. Seated ourselves as indicated, waited for the table to be cleared, not a busy night. Biggest con: walked through a cloud of cigarette smoke when leaving. Definitely not 15ft from the door.
