We all scream for ice cream!! Very cool roadside ice cream spot. Reminds me of those hot summer nights running around with friends to grab a cone when I was a kid. If nostalgia is not enough, they have excellent ice cream and frozen treats. I always go for a classic twist in a sugar cone. read more

Out in the Cato/Weefsport area, there isn't a ton of choice as far as food goes. You'll find more farmland than houses and people, so the choices are slim pickings. DBs is a small, seasonal drive in located on the Erie Canal Bike Trail, and I was pleasantly surprised with their food. My wife and I moved to Cato a couple years ago. As I said, slim pickings for food options. There's 3 or 4 places to eat, otherwise, you're driving a half hour to a closer city for some food. I'd passed by DBs a handful of times and kept saying I had to try them. I've lived in small towns in Upstate before, and they all have a version of a drive in type place for food and ice cream, and they are either amazing or terrible. I finally decided to go to DBs probably a year or so after I moved to the area, and now I'm a loyal customer of theirs. The staff is always friendly and professional and everything I've eaten from them has been great, far beyond what I expected. My favorite dish from them is a buffalo chicken wrap. Wraps can be difficult, some people aren't very good at putting them together, but DBs always nails it. They have great fries and my wife loves their fish sandwiches. They are seasonal, like a lot of these drive in are, so you gotta get your fix in during the spring-early fall seasons. Prices are more than fair and they give you a ton of food. Definitely recommend giving them your business if you're in the area during their season. read more

We stumbled upon this place on our way to Niagra Falls looking for a restroom and a place to eat. Perfect hometown place with friendly people, great customer service and really good food! Our group of 5 had a few selections from the menu viz., fish sandwich, grilled cheese and a few customized cheese burgers. Everything looked really good and tasted even better! We highly recommend this place if you're in the area looking for something to eat. Oh, the ice cream selection is really good too. read more

We tried this again. Well the onion rings didn't disappoint. The reg hamburger and Philly steak did though. The Philly had no flavor even though the meat was tender. The burger was bland, no beef taste associated with good beef. We are going to try other places around here now and see how they stack up. read more

Stopped in for ice cream. Lots of Perry's flavors. I had a heath flurry (cant remember what they call it) with chocolate ice cream. It had a lot of heath pieces mixed in. A cute place. They also sell food hanurgers, hot dogs, wraps, etc. It's not a big place, so I imagine it's difficult at times to get seating, but we took our ice cream out to the gazebo, so it was fine. read more

What a cute place! We stopped here for a snack and it was delicious! I had the hot fudge sundae, husband had the Reese's flurry and everyone else had soft serve vanilla and twist and we all were very satisfied. Only complaint would be the size restrictions put on some of the desserts (like the only way you can get a milkshake is if you get a giant one). read more

Perfect little burger and ice cream drive-in if you are trying to be quicker than a sit down restaurant. The burger flavor reminds be of high class Wendy's but are way larger in size. The Mac salad is really flavorful and the fries are nice n crispy. Definitely recommend this place as a little pit stop if you are on the go. Service was friendly and fast as well. read more

I would definitely give this place 4 stars if they could replace some of the seating outside. My poor daughter sat down on one of the tables not too long ago and then my husband sat down (mind you my husband is very skinny) my daughter almost went flying off her seat. Otherwise, food is typical. It taste like a burger joint/diner food. Ice cream is great. My favorite are there soft serves. read more

This place is pure Americana. Good old fashioned food at amazingly good prices. The haddock sandwich was great. Good fries and friendly service. We were there on a busy Saturday and they were a little slow getting customers through the line. After I ordered, I wasn't sure if I should go sit down or wait by the counter for my food. There was no number or receipt given. We sat outside and they brought the food to us. Great food, good ice cream, reasonable prices. Definitely worth jumping off the Thruway for lunch if you have a little extra time. I'll be back next summer. read more

I was in the area to pay a parking ticket and had to see what's good in this little town. This place was exactly what I wanted. First off THEY TAKE CREDIT! I came on a Friday and ended up ordering the fresh haddock sandwich. It came with two sides (drink not included). The place seems clean, the people were nice and I enjoyed the little town feel. The haddock sandwich was huge and delicious. I've only had it twice before. This was fresh and sooo good. It was a nice lunch. read more

So pleasantly surprised with this place. Like so many folks who commented on "needed to find someplace off the highway for a bite to eat," we were the same and are so happy with our decision to stop. We asked a woman in the parking lot "good place?" And she commented "yes, absolutely - my mother-in-law owns it!" Such a great small-town family atmosphere and it was SRO the entire time we were there. Buffalo chicken wrap was amazing, burgers were perfect, and their fries were crispy perfection - thanks for the recommendation on the cheese sauce with them as well! I had a chile Dog w Chips and ice cream. All is good except the hot dog bun must have been on sale at Walmart. The bun when I picked up dog pretty much disintegrated and turned into mush. My advice is to have them buy better hot dog buns worthy of the good dog and chile they serve. I they had good bun, score would be higher read more

We stopped here for lunch on our way across New York instead of a rest stop. The food was delicious - I had the Swiss mushroom burger, my kids had cheeseburgers, and my husband the breaded chicken wrap- and the fries were fantastic. We got off the Thruway in search of some lunch and ended up at D B's Drive in, on our way home from camping. Great place! We have a family of six and they had something on the menu for all of us and at great prices! I had one of the best burgers I've had in a long time... The DB Deluxe! Service was polite and friendly and we were welcomed by everyone who worked there. A small town gem and their pride shows! Keep up the good work. DBs is the place to go for the locals and people passing through. The food is great. Salads are made right there by the owners. The French fries are my favorites. Portions are large, especially the fish on Fridays. The owner is fastidious about cleaning and they consistently get good grades by the health dept. There are a limited number of booths inside, some outside umbrella tables, and a large gazebo nearby. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the carhops on Wednesday evenings, concerts and performances for the family are on the schedule also. Try to avoid when baseball/softball or soccer games finish because everyone meets there afterwards for ice cream. Mrs. Clinton's motorcade even stopped for ice cream when she was passing through as First Lady. While especially busy behind the grill, owners Paula and Margaret, usually take time to say hello and chat a bit. I highly recommend DBs for good ice cream and food! read more

Got lucky and found this place off the highway headed to another diner, noticed this one was crowded which is usually a good sign as we drove by, didn't like the looks of other place (CJ's Pub) and Arnold's Family Restaurant closed. I had Haddock sandwich and fries w/gravy, my husband and sons had 3 different chicken wraps - all delicious! Everything is cooked fresh to order. Not one thing to complain about, everything was great, including ice cream for dessert. We saw other patrons with burgers that looked super good and priced at only $4.90 It's a small place where you place order at counter with 4 inside tables and about 4 outside tables with umbrellas. Two cooks (appeared to maybe be mother & daughter team?) and another young lady taking orders and delivering food to your table. Excellent! Highly recommend! We will come back here again if ever in the area again. read more

When it first opened, I went opening day and the line was wrapped around the plaza and people said they had been waiting 3 hours! I decided to go back a few weeks later and there was a very small line but the wait was quite long. My first impression was good - god quality chicken, good fries, good flavor, but not much spice. I recently wanted to try again but this time I ordered take out. I tried the medium chicken sandwich and there was almost no flavor this time? I should've gotten spicier but there wasn't anything there at all.. It did come with a lot of their Daves sauce but I was expecting more flavor from that as well. I think it's fun to have every once in a while - a good new chain to have nearby!
