I noticed that a few other reviewers experienced the same issues I've experienced whenever I've tried to actually eat at the restaurant instead of doing takeout. They use this hokey system of having you write your name on a whiteboard instead of having a proper host or hostess tracking and seating people. This wouldn't be a problem if you had honest customers coming in, but multiple...and I mean MULTIPLE...times I've come to D'aurelios for dinner, I've either found my name erased after having waited for 30-40 minutes, or I've had people write their name above mine and get seated faster. The last straw was this past weekend; we arrived with a party of seven and put our name on the list below two other parties of two. As we stood outside, more people arrived and added their names. The two parties ahead of us were being seated, so we knew we were next. Then this group of 12 people arrived and we didn't think anything of it, until one of them went inside and then came back out and said "Oh good! We're next!" I had a bad feeling...and went inside to discover that they'd written their name above ours on the board. I asked someone sitting near the board if they'd seen what happened but they shrugged and looked away. Furious, I walked outside and asked the group why they would do that. They denied doing it. I tried to speak with a waitress about it but she seemed disinterested at best. I could have been a jerk and erased their name and added it to the bottom, but it just didn't seem worth it anymore. I was angry and frustrated and hungry. We left and went somewhere else for dinner. And that is the last time I will set foot in that restaurant. If you insist on going there to eat, I recommend writing your name on the board and then taking a pic of it with your phone for proof. Or better yet, camp out underneath that board. Too bad D'aurelios would rather be cheap and not have good front-of-house management instead of providing customers with less frustration and headache.
If/when you do get seated, the service is pretty good though. I'll grant them that!
But honestly, if you insist on having D'aurelios, order takeout. Save yourself the headache of their seating system.
The food itself is fine but nothing to get hopped up about. Pizza's pretty good, pastas are hit or miss (sometimes it's clear the pasta wasn't drained well enough before sauce was added), sauces have great flavor, complimentary bread is good but sometimes is a little lackluster, and the portions are phenomenal! Prices are fair too.
If I could rate individual parts, I'd give the food 3 solid stars, the service 3 solid stars, and the wretched seating system 1 star (and even then only because I can't give zero stars).
In general it's not a bad place, but like the description for a 2-star rating on Yelp says, "Meh, I've experienced better." So two stars it is. read more
