The paint was pretty beat up on my vintage Atala. Rick offered to restore the original, but I wanted a new color on my old frame. We discussed colors, using Pantone colors as a reference. Inspired by vapor wave, we landed on a Sailor Moon palette of deep purple, magenta, and white (with a few gold accents). The pin stripe around the lugging is really clean. Excellent work! She's a beauty now. Rick talked me out of an additional blue color block and I think it turned out really great. He even polished the chrome fork and applied topcoat over the decals so they won't fade like the originals. read more

Rick repainted my beloved 21 year old Soulcraft groundskeeper. It had seen a lot of miles and abuse and was showing as much rust as paint. I met Rick at his shop and he helped me pick out a new color after listening to what I was thinking color wise. We also agreed to redo the decals. He told me it would be about 5-6 weeks and like clockwork it was ready in that timeframe. I went to pick it up and I was amazed! It looked better than new and the decals were fantastic. Rick was recommended by Doug Maxwell, E Street Bikes in Sacramento, where I get all the mechanical work done on my bikes. I bought a 1979 Gazelle frame and after talking with Rick about the possibility of just touching it up, decided to go with a completely new, but authentically old, paint job. I found the color I wanted in an old Gazelle catalogue online, and Rick recreated it, complete with pinstriping and decals. It was because of the universal praise for D&D that I took my vintage frame and forks in to be restored to the original color and re-decaled. Unfortunately my experience was not good. We were aware going in that some decals needed to be specially made. That didn't seem to be a problem and the time frame I was given was 6-8 weeks. Now I know these craftsmen are "artistes" and they work at their own pace and schedule. I tried to be understanding of this but I found there seemed to be some sort of problem with the decals. D&D was not good about getting back to me but everytime I was able to touch bases with the owner the problem with the decals seemed to change. 3 months on and they were still fiddling with decals. With no end in sight, a changing story each time and a casualness about getting back to me I felt uncomfortable leaving the frame any longer. Alas, I'm not able to find anyone else to do the work. That being said, D&D does quality work. For some reason, they weren't able to do it for me. read more

Rick is the best. He used to paint all the Ritchey frames until they moved production to Taiwan. He matched a pearlescent baby blue paint on my fork to perfection. Rick by far has the attention to detail in creating a master piece. I brought a frame and fork to him to be painted and was happy with the process every step of the way. The frame wasn't anything to write home about but it's special to me. He ordered the decals to my specifications and had to wait a little longer for them to be printed.
