Went to Cyclegear because I saw a somewhat obscure (which they had on their website) item that I needed for an upcoming ride. With the assistance of one of their retail clerks (Tim) I was able to find it fairly quickly. Not only was Tim helpful, but also pleasant and efficient, and took the time to honor the much cheaper online price vs. the in-store markup. I have yet to be disappointed going there. Spent 3 hours here over the weekend buying gear for the first time, I am a new rider. I needed boots, pants, jacket and helmet. Andrew helped my the whole time and was wonderful when it came to onslaught of questions about what to look for, consider, the differences in brands, styles, material, fit, etc. He answered all my questions and never once made me feel like I was asking too many questions, or stupid questions. Went in to this Cycle Gear because it was close by to work and needed an emergency shield/visor replacement for my Arai Quantum 2 helmet after a break from a helmet fall onto carpet. Guy at the front desk said that they don't usually carry many visors for Arai helmets, however they had the exact one I wanted (dark smoke) in the right model to fit. The staff here is always super helpful and ridiculously nice! I've called ahead and they have always put things aside and had them ready when I pulled up! Went in with a visor 2-3 years old and asked for a replacement. Turns out the helmet it belonged to is far too outdated (sevenzeroseven vendetta 3). Megan immediately and out of sheer kindness helped me find a decent visor somehow, and even got around a problem where the retaining brackets for the helmet visor locks were broken. She fixed it all in front of me, and I walked out paying way less than I ever thought possible. She was helpful, kind, and very skilled and knowledgeable. 2 employees deserve recognition for going BEYOND excellent customer service while under extreme pressure while their computer systems crashed and weren't coming back... On Wednesday the 28th of June 2017 I went into the Oxnard store close to closing time to get some 2 stoke oil for a last minute trip to Cactus Flat on Thursday. I walk in there and realize there is a problem when 10 customers are either waiting to pay or just loitering. After grabbing my oil and figuring out that their computers had crashed, I began shopping for gloves and other stuff. 30 minutes later we were all getting the boot and no sale! I complained and asked them to do something so I could get my oil and not have to cancel my trip the next day. After some talking to the tall kid with glasses, he was nice enough to accommodate and gave me the option to pay in cash. OH YEAH!!!! He saved my day!!!! The tall blond girl was very composed and dealt with their unfortunate and nerve racking problem very well and made sure that my total was correct. I can't thanks these 2 employees enough for really going beyond to get me and several others out the door with our much needed items. I'll be shopping here a lot more often! read more

Just finished my CMSP course last week. I need all new gear since I am a new rider. Just walked in to the store with intentions of buying alot of gears. Wanted to start off with a quality helmet. Wasn't even acknowledge for the first 30 minutes as I looked around. I even walked out and came back in and got a blank stare from the employees. I work in sales and at the very least you acknowledge a potential customer within 30 seconds of them coming in. Safe to say I won't be coming to cycle gear ever again. Same experience as Josh. I was told my order will be ready on Monday, but guess what. It was not!!!! They were supposed to follow up and call back and it's been 3 days and no phone call. So I decided to call them and the guy makes up a story. I said I want my money back and now he says I have to deal with Corporate. What horrible service. read more

This place is awesome. Plain and simple. They may not have the best prices, and they certainly don't always have what I am looking for. But what they do have is a wealth of knowledge that comes with a smile. The employees here ride, so a lot of the time I can get great advice from someone who has actually tried something instead of telling you they heard it from some random person once. And they will share advice even if it means losing out on a sale. They're just good people who want to share the passion. read more

Used to come in here all the time and buy all my gear and supplies. From my helmet to full riding gear, to all my fluids, and every tire I've had on my bike. And I always had great service from the store manager Tim, no matter what I needed wether expensive or not, he would go above and beyond to help me. Well just yesterday I went in to swap my paddle tire back to my dirt tire so I can ride this week end and knew it wouldn't be a problem. I show up to find out Tim no longer works there and when I mentioned getting my tire swapped out 2 out of 3 employees that weren't doing anything just disappeared and the one that helped me was looking for any excuse to not do it. Frustrated, I went home and swapped it myself, I won't be coming here anymore. read more

As a new rider i walked into this store i was a little apprehensive. The moment I walked in Andrew was there to help. This guy is amazing! He is above and beyond helpful. He had advice on everything and even had referrals to great mechanics (whom i called and found to be both personable and hilarious!) The whole crew at cycle gear, only four associates, were extremely helpful and it is hard to find that anywhere! I am going here for everything and anything I would need for my new toy. I bought an Alpinestars jacket at this location in January of this year, along with other items totaling more than $1,000.00. While riding today, the zipper on the jacket failed, and the jacket cannot be zipped up any more. This location is about 30 miles from my home. I called the store and was told that after 30 days, I had to deal directly with the manufacturer. I was also told that they have a copy of the receipt for my jacket, but that they would neither email nor fax it to me, despite the fact that the receipt is maintained in .pdf format. So, in addition to not taking back a defective jacket, they expect me to drive 60 miles round trip to get a receipt that they could simply fax or email to me. I won't ever shop at Cycle Gear again, now that it is clear to me that Cycle Gear cares only about taking your cash, and has no interest in providing good or even adequate customer service. I doubt their management will even bother to respond to this post. Update: 9/18/2017: Following the posting by me of negative reviews on Yelp and other social media platforms, the manager of the store contacted me and faxed the receipt to me. I have adjusted their rating upwards to 3 stars as a result. read more

Although this place is better for parts, service & gear, than Cal-Coast, their costumer service is pretty bad. I ordered a part they said they could get, and they said it'll be here in 2 days. What they failed to tell me was that they would only order it if there were more orders going out. Instead of apologizing, he said, yeah well if you wanna come get your money back feel free. And this is only one example of their costumer service or lack there of. They seem to be more interested in talking about their own personal experiences which is fine but when I ask where something's at and they just say, "it should be over there," that's not helping at all. And if its not there instead of helping you find it they just say, oh sorry man, I guess we're out. Just straight up rudeness. I will be back just because they're the only ones in town but I'll be sure to have low or no expectations in service. read more
