I am 100% new to riding, and he helped me understand everything I needed to know related to buying gear and never made me feel silly for not knowing something. He spent a good chunk of time helping me look for my first helmet, and explained the differences of each type, brand, and feature. Even though I didn't buy something right away, he made me feel a lot more comfortable in finding the right one. When I went back in with my husband the next day, he spent a lot of time with us while still being able to assist other customers, never making anyone feel left out. We ended up buying a helmet, gloves, shoes, and some accessories for me to start with. Was asked via email to review the Newhall California location for Cycle Gear. While I have shopped other locations, I have never shopped this location. So one of several questionable things must have occurred. Cycle Gear management at this location is performing scummy farming of the larger customer list for unearned review request spam opportunities. The Cycle Gear customer database was hacked. Or Cycle Gear engaged a 3rd party company to market for them (podium.com) and that company has its digit head up its own ass for effective list scrubbing and management. Extremely helpful in picking out a motorcycle helmet that was comfortable and looked better than the Evel Kinevil helmet I was wearing. During checkout I noticed a Dixxon flannel that was on sale but didn't purchase it. I called the next day to pay for the flannel so when my friend came into the place to pick up the Evel Kinevil helmet That was left there, he unknowingly pick up a nice flannel for himself. Went to the Valencia store twice recently, first to have a tube put in, the dude was very helpful and had my tube changed in a few minutes, recently went in again to have a new tire and tube installed on a different wheel, the dude with the bleached blonde 2005 Eminem looking hair was very helpful too, he had it all replaced in a few minutes, was just disappointed that they would'nt let me use my 10% military discount for the tire purchase.. otherwise friendly helpful staff, and the store is properly set up and stocked up. prices are ok, more expensive then online, but you have it available at the spot, will be back. read more

Thanks guys !! Needed a specific size hex wrench (22mm) and couldn't find it in stock anywhere !!! After looking around online at night it said they had a axle multi tool that had 22mm hex on it and would work for me. And that they had it in stock at newhall location in my area. I reserved it online and before they opened at 10:00 I had already got confirmation notice that item was ready and up front waiting for me !! After I get there after driving 9-10 miles I realized I had forgotten my mask. So I called them told them situation and said if it was possible they bringing out or I go in with my shirt over my face or what ? And they said no worries, to come in and they would have mask waiting waiting for me. Sure enough as I barely walk through door there's the guy waiting for me with a disposable mask !!! Live saver !! Had my part ready, rung me up quickly and I was on my way !! Overall great service from these guys and not to mention awesome they had a tool I could use in stock !! What can we say, it's Cycle Gear!? They have good stuff, though this location is not nearly stocked as well as it could be. Prices are generally competitive. The team is nice enough, but some are really just there for the money or bored out of their minds. Which is sad, because there does appear to be a commission or acknowledgement scheme of some sort. One associate who stands out (literally) is a colorful haired gent who appears to be doing really, just the minimum. I know his name, but won't state it- i'll just say "avoid the clown hair." Pretty useless. Others however, especially the women, are very helpful. We'll be back soon. read more

Thanks guys! I came in to order a clutch lever. Your employee ordered the wrong one. Not only that, when I went back to fix it I find out you don't even carry the part I need. You can't even order it. I really appreciate the wasted week I spent waiting to find this out. The best part is that I work in downtown. On my bike I don't have to pay for parking. But since I'm stuck in my car now I get to spend $15 a day. When you add up the already wasted week and next week (cause now I need to track down, order and wait for the right part from elsewhere) that's $150 out of my pocket. That doesn't even account for the extra money I have to spend on gas. And the best part is that without my bike I get to spend an extra 45 mins in traffic each way, that's 15 hours of my life stuck in a cage thanks to you guys. Good job! Whatever you do, never trust the Russian dude at this store. He's completely incompetent. read more

Why buy online when you can pay too much locally? I feal bad saying this but about the only reason I goto Cycle Gear is to try stuff on just to buy it elsewhere. I have bought a few items here but the problem is their selection of street gear sucks. Their main staples for gear are AlpineStars and Frank Thomas, and boy do they push the Frank Thomas gear. It's also a pain when they rarely have the popular sizes in stock. They have a really good selection of helmets from most major manufacturers and they have a pretty decent dirt section. They have some cool stuff like electronics, repair kits, accessories, etc... but as with everything in the store it's priced so damn high. read more

I just love this place. Every time I've been there it's just a very pleasant experience. It's not the stuff, it's the people. You can buy the products any number of places. To a man, they are always friendly and helpful. They are all motorcycle enthusiasts and they really know their product line. When you are new into a sport it's helpful to talk to someone who's "been there and done that" and can recommend what products might work best for you. In too many places the uninterested employees try and point you towards the most expensive stuff whether or not that's what's best for you. With Cycle Gear, they find our what YOU need and then explain your options. That's refreshing. I'm so tired of uninterested employees that show no enthusiasm for their business or the fact that they are lucky enough to have a job in today's economy. They make it seem like there are a million places they'd rather be and that we, the consumer, are fortunate that they are there instead of the other way around like it used to be. I'd like to make special mention of Gus and Matt (the Manager). It's refreshing that almost every time I go into Cycle Gear, these friendly and knowledgeable guys are there to help me. It's almost like going in to see friends and not just employees at a store I go to. They are both always eager to help and offer consistent, thoughtful and flexible solutions to my motorcycling needs and the issues that occasionally (rarely) come up. If you need something that has to be ordered, amazingly, it's there within just a couple days in most cases. I'm not sure how they can do that. On Friday I ordered a helmet and it came in the very next day. Another thing I like about this place is that they are always open. Where a lot of M/C related places close on Sundays and Mondays, Cycle Gear is conveniently open. So, with a decent selection, helpful, happy employees, convenience and competitive prices, I highly recommend Cycle Gear for all your motorcycling needs. read more

The guys (yep, all guys) who work here are very helpful and knowledgeable. Although Cycle Gear no longer carries some of the products I want to try or buy on-occasion (such as Arai helmets), they do carry all the consumables I really like to buy in-person without waiting for mail-order. Great place when you need oil, filters, cleaners, etc. in a hurry. For those weekend oil-changes, it's a great thing to have a Cycle Gear handy. Also, I LOVE that Cycle Gear has special motorcycle parking. I love it so much that I berated some d-bag who parked his giant-arse truck in the motorcycle parking. Don't mess with mah Cycle Gear, yo! I have a feeling the CG guys secretly appreciated that, because they have to be professional. I don't have to be quite so pro, as a customer. ;) Great shop, great people. I have purchased a lot of Motorcycle gear, from Freeze Out to Helmets. They really stand by their products. My last Bilt Helmet had Bluetooth issues. I was greeted with a smile and they took care of me. I received excellent customer service and they put in a new Bluetooth at no cost. All I needed was a brush for my chains, but the staff was so friendly that I stayed for a chat. There wasn't much in terms of female riding gear (minus one star), but the staff tried to be accommodating by saying they could order it and ship it to the store. Used to love them. They went downhill after the new manager (young bald guy) took over. Personal relationships went in the toilet. Gave them several chances, as did my friends. Last straw; I was at frOnt door 7 minutes early. He opened door for UPS, and I asked if I could wait inside and shop a bit. He said, "no we're closed" and shut the door in my face. Rude rude rude. A very good store. Great service from everyone that was there! However a word of note. If you're looking for name brand motorcycle clothing like Frank Thomas or First Gear etc., you won't find it here. Most of their motorcycle clothing is this brand-name called BILT. If you want name brand stuff you need to go purchase it from their website. Other than that I would definitely shop there again for any other motorcycle needs that I have. Great selection of helmets.
