RPM Cycles - My Duc at Willow! - Motorcycle Repair Near Me - Ventura, California

After getting the "we can't help you" from other shops, Gary here at RPM did help me. He answers his own phone: "Come in, drop it off, pick it up" no problem. All true. Nice guy too (not fake like many others who have pre-recorded bs in their heads to feed you then forget you). Gary's the guy who has many years of experience and runs a good independent motorcycle shop to give you honest, knowledgeable, personalized, fairly priced service. read more

Gary runs a trustworthy shop. I was always happy with his work. He seems rather busy so I suggest to plan well ahead scheduling an appointment. Highly recommended. read more

Dropping off was a breeze. If your bike doesn't start you can have it towed and they we'll take it from there. Very cool owner. Really enjoyed even having a conversation while waiting for the paperwork for my bike. The work done on both the bikes was fabulous the price is reasonable and my bikes are running as good as new. Highly recommend supporting this local small business. He heals from the east and tells it to you straight. Something you don't find very often in California. Appreciated the great customer service, take the attention to detail, will definitely be bringing my bikes here again. read more

RPM Cycles - Motorcycle Repair Near Me - Ventura, California

Steer/ride clear! Three visits to RPM Cycles from Simi Valley (six round trips in total) to tune up a recently purchased 2002 SV650 in very good condition and with less than 30K miles on it. The bike was idling fine and pulling strong, but had issues with fueling/performance while cruising and on deceleration. First Visit: - Six hours labor to adjust the valves ("way out") and go through the carbs ("not too bad"). - $577 (nearly $100 over the estimate). - Poor running on deceleration was corrected. - Very noticeable, unacceptable surging when running in the mid-RPM range (2.5-5.5K). Second Visit: - Additional $91 to tune cables and needles to address surging. - Asked about the additional charge and was told, "That's not what you brought the bike in for originally." Okay.... - Surging in mid-RPM range was corrected. - New problem with consistent, reproducible choppy throttle and bogging/hesitation under normal, spirited acceleration. - Called immediately upon arriving home to inform them of the problem. - Two more diagnostic rides on my part to confirm/understand the behavior so as to be able to relay an accurate description. Third Visit: - They had the bike three days. - Received call saying they can reproduce the problem but that the bike is rideable and that they consider it normal. - When pressed that it certainly is not normal, received comments: o I don't know what you want me to do about it. o We can't do anything else with the carbs (tuning/jetting) because it is illegal. o This is why Suzuki went to fuel injection the next model year. Wow. That they can't get a basic bike like this running correctly should give any prospective customer serious pause. This ranks in the top three worst service experiences during my 40+ years riding and driving across nearly 50 vehicles. Thank you for reading. Steer/ride clear! Note: 1. Repeat customer - they previously installed a set of tires on a different bike. 2. Disputed the $91 charge with my credit card company but did not follow through - RPM Cycles is out no money. read more

They did a great job with my tire change. But I did reach out for another service and they replied once and then just left me at read. Reach out two more times and they have yet to write back read more

Really good shop. Gary does his best to ensure the work is done reliably in a timely manner. He is also very honest and communicate when there are issues read more

Dropped off a KLR that was running rough and backfiring. Not only did RPM fix my issues, they went beyond. Adjusted the brakes and clutch lever, rerouted my janky throttle cables, and corrected my barkbusters. The bike is running as good as new and ready for a few trips this fall! I can not recommend RPM enough. read more

I made the mistake of taking my motorcycle to this shop. My motorcycle had a leaky head gasket, but was running normally. I asked Gary to perform a leak-down test, which would tell me the condition of my cylinder compression & valve seals. Gary called me a couple days later to tell me that I had the wrong spark plugs in it, although a quick internet search would've shown that they were the Iridium replacement plugs, same temperature, gap & all. Next, he tried to tell me that my brand new air filter needed to be replaced. It was less than a month old. He continued trying to 'convince' me to let him perform a valve adjustment, which I continued to decline. It happened to be a 20 valve, four cylinder engine and he quoted me 6+ hours to do the work. I laughed at him. Same bike, I had it done it in 4 hours, inside my apartment's carport. When I finally picked up the bike, all he had to tell me was that the bike had been "treated very badly". I asked for the results of the leak-down test in which I had paid the man $90 for. He said he didn't keep them, and that the bike was in really bad shape. What kind of mechanic does work that he can't account for? Stay clear of this rip-off shop. I'll keep taking my motorcycles to Cal Coast, across town. read more

I feel, to do these guys justice, I need to start from the beginning. I've been to two shops prior to this for various types of work to be done to various bikes (primarily sport bikes). About 3 years ago I was at a shop and had a discrepancy with the owner as i felt I was missing some parts off my bike and they also didn't do one of the jobs I asked them to do while they had the bike apart. After a gentlemanly argument I went home, ordered the parts that were missing, did the job I asked the prior shop to do myself, and looked at other shops that I could go to. That's where RPM came in. A few months later I had some mechanical work that needed to be done that was a little over my head. I called up RPM and they had me bring it in the next day. Upon arrival I immediately hit it off with Gary (and eventually Jodie). The customer service they bring to the table is absolutely fantastic. Simply put, they're the kind of people that are just great to talk to and very knowledgeable to boot! They gave me a call a couple days later and my bike was good to go and back to running like a champ! I've run the gambit of various services with them and have had nothing but rock solid results. I know I can trust the reliability of my bike and its components thanks to this shop, and the last three years of being a devoted customer to them is a testament to that. Thanks guys, I sincerely and wholeheartedly appreciate the service you guys have done for me. -Lancelot P. read more

I am very happy with the service I get from Gary, Jodie and the mechanic. Earlier this year I had a set of tires put on and today, Saturday, they fit me in to have new rear brake pads put on. Trouble-free visits and I am happy. You can walk to Winco or watch a movie at Regency Theater which are both one little block away. We are lucky to have a few MC shops and garage mechanics in the county and I like to try them out. read more

Brought my bike in to RPM / Gary at a friend's recommendation for a dead battery and re-doing some electrical, and some general inspection/bolt replacement. Very friendly staff, bike was ready same day as promised, cost was fair (~$250 for around 2hrs work plus parts, including speedo mounting bracket). Good experience, will be returning in the future. read more

Let me start by saying I actually live in OC and have my own mechanic for my bikes, I was out here in Ventura visiting my daughter when I had a bit of a fall. Nothing major, but the bike couldn't be ridden home in it's state so I called up a few of the local shops. The first shop wouldn't work on imports, the second wanted $50 and the third didn't answer. Finally Gary here at RPM Cycles answered and said just come on by. I showed up, he looked at it and had everything fixed in no time at all (besides the scuffs of course) and told me to have a safe ride home. The end of the story is this, Gary here runs a great shop and is an absolute wonder to have work on your bikes. If you live here or near Ventura, then this is the only shop you will ever need to go. read more

I can not recommend Gary or the folks at RPM enough. The lengths he went through to help me demonstrated a great care and commitment to his work. He went above and beyond what I'd expect from a regular mechanic shop, and it truly saved me. My bike broke down on a long road trip, halfway from Seattle to New Mexico. It just stopped at a rest stop some miles north of Ventura. I had it towed down to Gary at RPM. He quickly diagnosed the problem, and we decided to go through with the repair. I was on a deadline. Gary was able to find the part I needed quickly, installed it, and had me back on the road much sooner than I expected. All of this for a very fair price! He put up with all my questioning and explained everything in detail. Definitely go with him if you need any bike work done! The folks at RPM are fair, honest, and kind. read more

Taxie was the man but other then that the price was off the mileage was wrong and I got conned into getting a warranty that made no sense he said he would discount the bike and he didn't have to go back and get a contract and now offers a lousy 150 in store card to justify the more then 800 warranty that he sold me what a damn slap in the face double check your paper folks never again will I buy anything there read more

Well Yelp was wrong on this one, went for a simple repair and got a lecture on how the parts I brought in were not good. Ok, "do you have another brand in stock" ahhh no. Botched the job, were totally and completely pompous and very expensive. If you like pompousness and high prices with less than successful results, go here, otherwise if you want your bike fixed properly and at the correct price go to Linmans garage. Know it all people are annoying, especially when they can't do the job and lecture you. Avoid. read more

Great shop! First, it's full of wonderful people that want to help you (Jody and Gary). Second they have a small selection of bikes but all are really cool and fairly unique. I just went in today to get a brake caliper fixed (made a dumb mistake trying to change my pads) and they had it done in thirty minutes and I ended up staying around talking and hanging out with everyone for hours, wound up buying a tank bag too. This will be my first stop from now on. These are good people doing good work. read more

Absolutely the best motorcycle repair shop in Ventura County. I just recently had my bike worked on which was a 1982 Suzuki and despite the age of the bike they were happy to assist with the purchase of parts and service in a very timely manor. I have had my bike serviced at a few other mechanic shops in Ventura County and the service at RPM Cycles blows all other service shops out of the water. Thank you RPM Cycles for your outstanding customer service and help. You are the greatest. And also a big thanks to Gary who was the best customer service representative I have had experience with ever. This guy should get a raise for his hard work and keeping contact with customers. read more

I bought a used R1100R that handled terribly, diving into corners, jerky acceleration. I thought it was a bad bike until I took it to Gary. He suggested Pirelli Angel GT tires and a dose of injector detergent. He gave me a great price on the tires, way below list. The bike now runs great, handles great. Gary called the next day to see how it was going. Thank you Gary! read more
