I also had to get a multi tool because I couldn't get to the battery. He apologized and I told him stuff happens. I ended walking out with a lithium battery. Better battery and way lighter. Really disappointing. Came in with my new tires I bought through them, only $30 per tire for installation. Not until all of my info is written down at the end they check my wheels to see if they have my size tubes that they "Need to replace every single tube because of their policy." They then say they don't have my size tube and that I would need to buy news ones elsewhere. Not ONE SINGLE time did they every say through text/call that replacing old tubes is REQUIRED and that new ones are needed! Horrible experience and I'm so disappointed with the staff their that didn't say a single word about this policy all along. So frustrating! read more

Okay so, I bought a new Sport Bike (CBR 600RR Honda) and needed to get all the accessories - Helmet, gloves, phone mount, bluetooth music, lock, etc. Cycle Gear had everything I needed, quality stuff, not the crap on Amazon which is mostly Chinese cheap-stuff. Even better was Chase, I think he must be the manager? Anyway, he has race-bike track experience and answered all my questions and offered something things I had not even considered. Anyway. The selection here isn't huge but it's good. Everything is pretty expensive, but I'm finding out that's normal for nice motorcycle gear, and they only carry the nice stuff here. My husband got jeans with built in padding and a helmet that was about to go out of season for a great price. The employee gave off a biker vibe and was very relaxed but cool, which made it easy to shop without feeling pressured by a sales associate like at many other places. I was looking for gloves, but didn't find any in my price range that I liked. They didn't have a lot of women's options. Not nearly as much as men's. Overall a good store if your ready to pay a pretty penny for some nice gear. My husband's style kind of place, but I'm going to look for some used gear since that's more my price range. read more

It's unfortunate that there is not a rating under "1". There is only one competent or caring employee in the entire store. The manager is great however you can't run a business with one person. 1. Calling and trying to find out accurate information is IMPOSSIBLE! I tried to find out the status of a fix on a wheel and was told it hadn't been started. This employee giving me the information obviously didn't care or look. I soon received a call from the manager and was told it HAD been ready. I had to check on the status of my wheel. it was ready which is bad but I was told it wasn't ready when it was! I know walking to the back a couple feet to check on an order is an inconvenience for an employee. Especially when she spends the majority of her time in the restroom. I have tried my best for years to patronize this store. I like to use local shops BUT this is just absolutely ridiculous. The manager is the only employee that cares but you can't run a business with one person. I have tried and tried to patronize them but I can't TRUST them anymore! There are many people who want to actually work. Maybe they should find them and remove those who avoid working as well as purposely giving wrong information to avoid working. There are many superior shops which will now get my business. Great shop in Ventura that actually speak to the customers. They have EXCELLENT customer service ... even if your just asking a question. I will tell all of my buddies to avoid this shop like the plague . I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. Shame on Corporate for not checking on their shops. Been to this cycle gear 3 times, every time is the same. They have a decent selection of gear however went in there on my way home from Ventura to buy 4 helmets and cardo for all of them, 3 employees there, got bad looks when we walked in, they were busy helping a girl get a $200 chest protector. Was looking at helmets for 10 minutes with the wife and not a single one said a word to us the whole time, just looked at us. All they had to do was say hi and they would have sold $3k in merchandise, I won't be visiting any cycle gear anymore, they all suck. Shop local small shops and order with them if you have to. My friend bought a jacket from LA cycle gear that was on sale. So I went with him to the same place . They said that same jacket was sold out and wasn't available anymore anywhere in the country and it was a discontinued item.. i was disappointed. On my way home to Santa Barbara I stepped in to the Oxnard Cycle gear. As I got in I was greeted. A guy asked me what i was looking for .(Noah) and I told him my story. Then he directed me to the Store Manager Magen. She immediately checked their system and didn't find any in California. Instead of stopping there she looked for the whole country and found a jacket from Arizona. Immediately called them and reserved it for me. In fact she had ordered 2 jackets just to make sure that I got one. Wow.. this is what i call Customer service. When there are people like Magen who go the extra mile businesses will thrive. Customers are happy and relationships made for life. Well the story has a bit more. ..then last week I needed a SENA helmet communication system and I went to my favorite people at Oxnard CG. Again Magen and Mo came to my help. Sold me a SENA 20S and even fitted it to my helmet and send me and my buddy an our ride. If you are reading this and if u want cycle gear go to oxnard. The website said that the helmet was in stock and that's why I made the ride over but when I got there the two guys said it was probably in the back but they wouldn't help to find it because "it's the merchandisers job to get it" so I left without buying anything. I purchased a chain from thousand oaks with a coupon, needed to exchange it at Oxnard because I had forgotten that my chain and sprocket kit brought me down to a 525. I told them when I went in I had purchased it at another store at a discount so they should look up the purchase instead of just doing an exchange for full price. The person behind the desk couldn't look up the receipt so she just refused to return it because I was honest enough to tell her I had purchased it with a coupon. What a jerk. The last time I was at the Oxnard store I was buying chain cleaner and lube and one of the guys behind the register spent two or three minutes trying to convince me to buy a new chain instead of cleaning it because "it felt like I was riding a totally new bike bro, you need to get a new chain". I had a great experience at this location. I came in looking to purchase a new bluetooth helmet. One of the employees complimented me on the helmet that I brought in with me. After looking around for a bit, one of the employees asked me if I was looking to purchase a new bluetooth helmet. I replied "yes" and was asked if I had considered just adding bluetooth to the helmet I already owned. Then I was shown what options I had and was given a recommendation. To make things better, the employee went ahead and installed the bluetooth system on my helmet. I'm so happy I added bluetooth to my helmet instead of purchasing another helmet. My helmet was significantly better than the one that I would have purchased, and the bluetooth system was much better as well. The only reason I take off a star is because of the size of this location and the amount of stock it contained. It seemed like there weren't a lot of options/sizes available for a lot of items but after speaking with one of the employees, I was advised that they have had a theft problem so that may be why there weren't a lot of choices. My friend bought a riding jacket that was on sale at Cycle Gear and I wanted to get the same jacket from them. Since I was in LA I went to the same place my friends goes. They said the Jacket was not available anymore at any of the locations in California. I was heartbroken bcos i really liked that jacket. So I decided to go to the oxnard Cycle gear. As I went in a guy and a gal greeted me. Asked me what I was looking for . (Noah) and as I was showing the photo of the jacket the store manager Magen came by. She immediately started checking their system to see if anyone had the jacket in California. Then she started checking other states and found the jacket. Immediately called them and reserved it for me. I paid and got it in less than 4 days. People like magen are what Businesses should have to succeed. She infant ordered 2 jackets just to make sure that I got atleast one. Wow. Amazing service. Well the story has a bit more. Just a warning to other riders that depend on their bike for commuting. I go thru at least three sets if tires a year. I order tires from cycle gear, took my wheels in for the tire change and what normally takes less than an hour has now taken five days and they had not completed the task. My bike has sat on bricks for five days and I've decided to pickup my wheels and do the tire change myself. Moral of my story is, if they can't help you on the spot, don't leave your stuff. me and my boyfriend usually come in whenever he needs parts for his project bike and the employees have always been helpful and kind until today. we had went in earlier around 5 or 6pm with a couple of our friends all looking for different things for our bikes when one of the employees asks what we're looking for and so one of our friends says just looking around since it looked like the employee was already helping another customer and didn't want to interrupt so we were just gonna mind our business to find what we needed until the employee made a sarcastic comment about there being flowers outside to look at if we're just looking around. my friends couldn't find a battery they need for their kawasaki and my boyfriend couldn't find the mirrors he needs so we were gonna head out until that same employee made another comment about how he always preferred customers that knew what they needed when they came in instead of just wasting time. it's attitude like this that makes people intimated to look into a new hobby or try new things because people that are niche and think they know it all belittle others. i get if it was a busy day and we were nagging for help but he was just overall cocky and rude. i never got close enough to him to see if he had a name tag but he had curly hair and big nose and didn't look older that his 30s. read more

Special ordered a helmet from this location, Was told I would be called Wednesday when it would arrive, Saturday no call so I decided to swing by and see where my helmet that was swore would be here. A helmet dd arrive Wednesday and no call was placed. The wrong size was ordered, but they tried to pawn the helmet on me anyway even when I told them it was the wrong size. Manager comes over and says he is going to Canoga park and will pick up the right size and promises it will be here Monday. Monday I show up again and the parts guy tells me that the manager isn't even in on Monday and they don't have the helmet still. Wednesday I come in again because they clearly can't operate a phone to communicate with a customer... Well guess what, still no helmet... "It is on the UPS truck today I swear." Says the manager. Well I use to love this cycle gear back when George an crew were in charge but now it sucks. I took my front wheel in to get a tire change an they did not do a proper balance. luckily I was not doin a canyon run, cause at 100 mph on the freeway my front started bouncing. when i came back home i realized they balanced my wheel with my original wheel weights still attached? WTF??? So I decided to take my rim n tire to Ventura County Moto Sports, where Anthony re-balanced the tire an found it was 3oz too heavy! go figure RIGHT? I asked for a riding shirt and one clerk told me they don't sell them, another clerk directed me to a rack where the inventory consisted of 3 xml shirts of questionably quality.
