The only thing i didn't see mentioned while scrolling was the fact that security guards outnumber the employees after a certain hour. What on earth is going on at the 14/P Street CVS/CAREMARK?! I've been going since February 2019. Suddenly, a couple of months ago, one of the wonderful pharmacists disappeared. Then virtually ALL the staff inside the store. Then the final pharmacist I dealt with. Then the store manager. Gone! In just a month or so all gone but one of the pharmacy staff. As I mentioned, there is exactly one person I still recognize, a young woman in the pharmacy. We now have a virtual revolving door of pharmacists. It pretty much feels the same with pharmacy and store staff. I don't even know who the manager is. Before, the former manager made himself very visible working on the floor with employees and interacting with the public. I feel like I've landed on another planet every time I walk in, and I go to CVS/caremark a lot. The store in across the alley from my building. Was there a store walk out/strike? Embezzlement? Coordinated theft by everyone? What the heck happened?! read more

Worst pharmacy in Logan Circle! They are so slow, the people that work at this location don't want to be there. It shows by their attitude, everyone who works there is negative. One of the pharmacists named Omar or whatever, he's the most unethical pharmacist I've encountered. He closes the pharmacy early and turns customers away 20 minutes before the actual closing time. Revoke his license, he shouldn't be practicing. People need their medication and the pharmacy should stay open to the actual time as disclosed on CVS store hours. read more

Don't even bother getting meds here-- drug dealers are more reliable. At least they answer the phone. I don't understand why getting meds on time is so much to ask for. This place makes me feel like I am living in a communist country trying to buy a pair of matching shoes, although sometimes I wonder if that would be easier. read more

The female pharmacist is extremely rude and incompetent! Not only does she have a bad attitude she constantly talks over you and she is incompetent at her job. Every time I had to transfer my prescription to another CVS and they took care of it in five minutes. Her solution is to yell at you, or tell you to pay cash for prescriptions that are clearly covered under my insurance, which I called and spent an hour with the insurance company to confirm that. This woman single-handedly has caused me so much headache for my ER visit, regular prescriptions and my post surgery. Someone needs to fire her! read more

All of the CVS's in DC are terrible but this one is an absolute disgrace. They constantly fill the aisles with big plastic restocking tubs so you can't actually see or get to the products on the shelves -- this is all day, every day. The last several times I've gone in, every single self-checkout was out of order, and they only had one (shockingly slow) checkout person at the staffed register. Each time I ended up walking out without buying what I needed and ordered on Amazon instead. Retail isn't dead because of Amazon, Amazon is succeeding because of horrible places like this. read more

(Yelp won't let me post the email verbatim) Please email her your comments - she has the power to actually make changes! This store is a bastion of incompetence. The pharmacy is the worst one I've ever encountered - the employees do NOT speak English, they are incredibly rude and seem to have no idea what is going on. ALSO - on my brand name (read: expensive) medications, they have repeatedly given me a lower number of pills than what is prescribed, and then I have to go back and argue with them. It has gotten to the point where I will literally dump my pills out onto the counter at the checkout to count them before I pay because inevitably it is not the right number. The employees at the store are equally awful - recently, I asked an employee if they carried marshmallows (it's cold outside, hot cocoa time!) and he DID NOT KNOW WHAT MARSHMALLOWS WERE. OMGoodness in this economy, how to these people have JOBS? The self check outs were supposed to improve the line situation, but every single time i've been in this store, at least one of them is turned off, and another two are blinking saying that a cashier will help you momentarily - well, of course that never happens, so there is really only ONE functioning self check out so the line builds longer and longer. CVS should be ashamed of this store- it must be the management - I found out the Area Pharmacy Supervisor is Cherise Wilson - because who else would hire such incompetent people and run such an awful operation? read more

I feel like this review should be titled "A Tale of Two CVS Stores" but I digress... After a horrible experience with both the mean pharmacist and the could care less store manager at another location, I decided to have my prescription transferred to this CVS located at 1418 P St. NW. The difference was simply amazing! I walked into the store. A CVS employee was stocking the shelves on the aisle I walked down on my way to the pharmacy. He smiled, said "good morning, welcome to CVS" in a genuine manner. Refreshing. I then arrive at the pharmacy. I'm already in "battle mode" in my mind just in case it's going to be an experience like the one yesterday at the 17th and P St. NW location. Immediately my tension melts away. The pharmacist (Sean) said pleasantly, "may I help you" (he was at the register). I gave him my name & date of birth. He immediately pulled my prescription (which was correct - just like I've been receiving it for the past several years). He knew the back story of what happened yesterday with the mean pharmacist at the 17th & P location, said he was sorry that I had to experience that and said that it was pretty obvious that my doctors directions on the script were correct. When he rang me up, my payment wouldn't swipe. I knew it was good because I called the toll free number prior to going to the store today to double check. Sean said "no problem, just go ahead and manually enter the card number into the pad". He even entered it for me. After I paid he again said he was sorry about the experience at the other CVS and wished me a good day. CVS almost lost me as a customer for good because of the mean actions of one employee yesterday. I've decided to remain a loyal customer because of the staff person and Sean at this CVS location. The lines are SO unbelievably bad at this CVS all_the_time that I'm surprised a riot hasn't broken out. Imagine this: It's Saturday morning. You need batteries and disposable razors and, hell, maybe even a bag of Doritos and some Marlboro Lights. Sounds like you need to go to CVS at Logan Circle! Don't forget to wear shoes that are comfortable to stand around in because you WILL be standing in a line. You're not special, and it's not "off-peak" time. There's a line. Trust me. There's ALWAYS a line. This CVS is what happens when a drugstore has a monopoly on a block that sees a lot of foot traffic in a densely populated neighborhood in a big city. I could write the same review for the CVS at Thomas Circle or the other P St one a few blocks down (toward Dupont). So, same goes for them. First, the LINES. OMFG. You've never seen anything like it before in your life. They stretch down the aisles, they wind around the display cases, they zig and they zag, people get angry and huffy, you might get confused and want to kill the guy in front of you, sometimes it smells, sometimes you wait so long that your ice cream from Whole Foods is now just cream, sometimes you eyeball the "sale" items in the aisle you're waiting in. Things run through your head. "Do I need some KY? Do I need some Brut? Do I need some travel toothbrushes? Why do they lock their razors up? Who steals razors? Why are there 84 different kinds of tampons? Does anyone actually buy $30 DVDs from CVS? When is Easter anyway? Why are there so many........ WAIT, DID THAT GUY JUST CUT? HE TOTALLY JUST CUT! HEY! YOU! YOU BIG STUPID CUTTER! GET THE F BACK THERE LIKE THE REST OF US!" You walk into the store, you see the line, you are appalled, you feel defeated, you may WANT to walk out in protest, but then you think to yourself, "Where the hell else am I going to get my cigarettes, shaving cream, toilet paper, and ramen noodles?!" So you collect your items and you wait. You REALLY wait. Waiting is an art. Pick up a magazine, bring a book, take your iPod -- you will be there a while. You will be there so long that you will FEEL yourself aging. I have no idea what their problem is. It could be the staff. To be diplomatic, their cashiers are less than efficient. They're not that bright, either. And frankly, I don't blame them for their laziness for the most part. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Sometimes I want to smack them for being so slow and annoying, and sometimes I think, "I am really sorry you have to work here." The staff number varies everyday, though. Sometimes it's 1, sometimes it's 5. If you're patronizing the pharmacy, good luck. If you have a complicated or long last name, forget about it -- just stay sick. I don't think a single person who works in that pharmacy speaks English. If your last name is harder than 'Smith,' just write it down for them beforehand, otherwise you will be spelling out your last name repeatedly. Then you might discover that they don't even have your Rx, OR you might discover that they do and they STILL have no clue what your last name is, OR they take 10 minutes to "look for it," which just means they're helping four other people. If you decide to wait for your Rx, know ahead of time that 15 minutes means 30. If they tell you 30 upfront, just leave and come back the next day. Don't even bother. On Saturdays and maybe Sundays there is a security guard sitting near the door. The store itself *could* be less ghetto, I admit, but it's not like it's in southeast. It's Logan Circle. Granted, the block is a mixed bag already. There's a Whole Foods and Starbucks and some upscale shops, but there's also some way-ghetto shops that stink up the whole block. This CVS does attract a number of bums and those quasi-bums who sell "Street Sense." On the weekends there is a nice flower vendor outside. The store itself, as fas as stocking goes, is just so-so. Prices are WAY jacked up because of the location, and they are OFTEN out of their more popular items. If you are a smoker like me, being able to actually BUY Marlboro Lights at this CVS is a total crap shoot. "Will they have them today??" If they are in stock, I just buy five packs. I feel so lucky. I get the feeling there is just no inventory control. They must KNOW how popular those cigarettes are, so you'd THINK they'd buy MORE. Nope. Looks like you're going to 7-11 and paying 70 cents more, sucka! Bottom Line: This is where you go when you NEED stuff. No one goes there because they want to. It's not a pleasure trip. If you need razors and toilet paper and toothpaste and mascara and deodorant and Cheetos and cigarettes, then you best start LOVIN' the lines, or at least get used to them. There is NOTHING you can do, there is NOWHERE else to go, there is NO ONE else who can help you. It's in a great location so they can suck as much as they want and people will STILL shop there. Sketchy at night. We went in search of some snacks and they didn't have the type we wanted. We tried to make our shopping trip here as short as possible because every 5 minutes an ear piercing alarm would go off, one that for some reason the people working here couldn't turn off. This is the worst CVS in the world. I found the unhelpful employees and broken self-checkout machines irritating, but the pharmacy's utter incompetence was what finally made me vow to never return. The pharmacy gave my prescription to someone else. Then insisted that I had picked it up. When they pulled up the log of signatures left for prescriptions, the one by my name was indistinct except for a letter which does not exist anywhere in my first, middle, or last name. Obviously, I was pretty annoyed that they had not only given away my medication, but also my address, phone number, and doctor and insurance information. The manager was not in at the time, so I asked them to have her call me later. When she did, she screamed at me. I did not raise my voice once. Rather than accept responsibility for her inept staff or try to fix the situation, she screamed at me. I have not had someone scream at me in my adult life. I was totally taken aback by this display. This completely inappropriate response, coupled with the useless staff has convinced me never to set foot in this store again. Seriously, do not take your prescriptions to this CVS. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would... The arrogance and ineffectiveness of the pharmacists here is the only thing out of the ordinary. And I don't mean it in a nice way. They will make YOU feel guilty for inconvoniencing them with your prescription. They will continue filling out medication you no longer need. They will fail remembering ALL your preferences. Maybe the worst CVS of all time... For one I think the 7-11 has more options than this place, and what they do have is super expensive. You would have thought that they where selling antibiotic free, free range Doritos. A much better option would be to go to the Ace hardware next door. Don't even try to get anything filled at the pharmacy here, you will either be cured or long dead by the time you get your medicine. Of course there are no cashiers here, just those annoying self serve machine that hand out the mile of receipts. This best thing about this store is the convenient location (one added star just for that). I usually group my errands together and end up here by default. Whole Foods is on the same block. There are great restaurants across the street. The hardware store shares a wall with CVS. The store is small and not as well stocked as others. There must be a huge shop lifting problem. Odd items are locked up. The lines seem shorter in the evening. I don't visit for the service or wide selection of products. I can't recall ever seeing more than one employee in the store. If I want to spend CVS Bucks that are about to expire or if I need something I can't find at Whole Foods, (i.e. junk candy or a household item) the trip is worth it. I don't travel to the area just to visit CVS. read more

For years this was my go-to pharmacy and I got excellent help from the pharmacists. Now all the good pharmacists have left which is no surprise given poor CVS management. The lines now are always crazy, everyone who works there confused, and the people who answer the pharmacy phone literally hang up on you before you are finished asking your questions. It's all in the name- the purpose of a convenience store is well, convenience. I frequent this CVS because it's the closest place to my apartment, but honestly, I wish I could cut the proximity cord, because this place often resembles the seventh circle of hell. I'm basically giving it two stars instead of one, because I can't stop going there when I'm out of toothpaste, lightbulbs, etc. But that doesn't mean I like it. The lines are absurd. Regardless of the time, day or number of customers, there's one (sometimes if it's a full moon there are two) registers open. You can also count on 3-5 employees behind the counter chilling out/pouring salt directly on my impatience wound. The Kodak machine is perhaps the most redeeming quality about this establishment- when it's working, that is. I've walked out of this place because of the line before and I know each time this torture occurs that it won't be my last experience ruing the day I fell prey to this place. read more

CVS just keeps getting worse the more of these automated checkouts that they put in. This CVS is my local, 2 blocks from home. I spend hundreds of dollars in here a month for all the essentials. Their recent redesign hasn't really added anything other than confusion. They are usually relatively well stocked and open 24/7 which is nice, but the addition of the self checkout has made this place even worse to deal with, so much so that I avoid going at all but the most absurd hours, as to beat the crowds. Staff is normally discourteous, simply just aloof if you get lucky. Their rewards program is the only thing that keeps me coming back. read more

Stopped in for Mucinex. After price shopping, the name brand appeared to be on sale, so I selected it. We waited in line for a few moments and approached KERRON to pay. She asked for my CVS card which I don't have and rang up the sale. When it rang up several dollars more than the sale price I questioned it. She explained that the sale is for those with a CVS card and completed the transaction. I handed it back to her and requested a return. She huffed at me as if it was trouble for her, and I called her on it. We proceeded through the return, and she refused to say please, thank you or even try to pretend to be courteous. I called her on that also, and made mention of it to the man next to her, Terrence, who laughed. We got through the transaction with KERRON stone faced. When I asked her who the Manager was she motioned to Terrence. I approached him and explained my experience, and called him out for laughing when I mentioned to him her lack of customer service skills. He scolded me for talking while he was talking. Yes, I did and I'm the customer and was frustrated by both their actions. I don't need him to scold me. After the return was complete I decided not to get a CVS card and took my business elsewhere. Do you think there's a reason that they get such a poor review? The next store we went to greeted us warmly and thanked us as we left. Take some lessons P St CVS. read more

Just terrible. I live probably a few hundred feet from this pharmacy. I have been going for years but only a few times for medications. I am done today. So many times they screw stuff up. For example, today, I dropped off a prescription for my wife at 4p and said I would be back in an hour to get it --"no problem" 3 hours later she is there and waiting upwards of 20 minutes. No good excuse other than busy. I'm not sure if the issue is staffing or what. I will not use them - it is worth the extra time to go elsewhere. To top off their screw ups they are also generally not helpful, efficient, or friendly. I'm trying bioscripts nearby and will be sure to yelp about it. For grocery and OTC stuff this cvs is ok, but the pharmacy is just awful and because of their location and cvs name they can get away with it. read more

I'm hoping that with enough 1 star reviews, this place won't have the half star which might give people the glimmer of hope that they should go here. Just don't. Ever. The pharmacy, as others have said, is a total disaster. I'm here for business and needed to get my prescription filled just one time. I don't use the CVS near my house, I use Rite Aid. I might as well have told them that I wanted a pony. With a ton of attitude, the "drop off here" girl got my information, called the pharmacy in CA and told me to come back in an hour. When I came back, they hadn't filled it. "No worries, I'll come tomorrow." Enter: Tomorrow. It's 24 hours later and when I went to pick it up, it wasn't ready. They had me wait for 15 minutes before calling "LINE" about 5 times. I wasn't aware that they were calling me, as my name is not "Line" but "Lynne." When the pharmacist finally pointed at me directly and said "I've been calling you, Line" I realized he wasn't demanding the formation of a straight line, elementary school style. So I trotted up to the window, where a very pushy woman was already waiting and wouldn't budge. The pharmacist began prattling off my personal details and the medication information. Would you be more happy telling everyone this over the loud speaker? HIPA violations?!?!? Have we not considered that? Minimum distance from the counter? My heavens! The lawsuits were racking up in my brain. I again, gave them the number to my pharmacy in CA and again waited 15 minutes. At this point, I was going to be late for a dinner engagement (see delightful review for OBELISK which vastly improved my evening) so I waited 10 minutes before hearing "LINE" again. Oh for F's sake! Seriously?!? Then he told me that my 2 insurances wouldn't cover the medication and that I could pay cash for it. $70 in cash. That's why I have 2 insurances. I've had this medication for like 5 years, trust me, they'll pay for it. In the end, I left with no medication. I called the Rite Aid on U Street, they filled and properly charged my insurance (which, shockingly DID cover it) and I picked it up 30 minutes later. The woman on the phone was really friendly and seemed like the most wonderful pharmacist alive after my CVS experience. I'm not going back, even to get the cheaper cream cheese that I buy after spending my entire pay check at Whole Foods on fancy baby ganoush and truffle cheese. read more

I am a physician. This wonderful pharmacy already almost killed one of my patients who ended up in the hospital after they gave him the wrong dose of medication. The brilliance of today: I faxed over a prescription for a rather innocuous medication on my office fax, hand-written on a legal prescription pad. We only do this about 20 times a day to pharmacies all over, including CVS. This pharmacy, who I suspect is suspended in the 20th century, or maybe the 19th, refused to fill it claiming that "anyone can write a prescription and fax it to us." The pharmacist, who was barely understandable, did not seem to understand that the alleged suspect would not only have to copy my blank prescription and then write on it, forging my signature, but also program his fax to have my name and fax number on the header. You would think that if someone were to go to this much trouble, they'd order something really good, not your basic cold sore rx. Not to mention, don't bother calling the doctor to verify that we were the culprit rather than the unsuspecting patient. He insisted that the prescription was a fax of fax, which appears to be based more on sheer laziness than fact. Ironically, after my seething phone call, the prescription was ready in minutes for the patient, which leads me to believe that it was made up already by the pharm tech but put on hold by the paranoid pharmacist. Can Yelp please arrange to have ratings less than one, maybe even minus ratings? read more

I went into the Pharmacy the other night at about 11:20pm. They were about to close up business for the night. Instead of the employees rushing me out, they were extremely helpful and respectful too not only me, but everyone else also. The CVS Pharmacy at 14th & P has become one of my favorite stores or Pharmacies I the District. read more

The worst pharmacy experience ever. The male pharmacist is rude and makes it clear that he's not interested in a conversation with you about medicines. Upon asking to speak with him about a medicine question he said it will be about a 15 minute wait. Upon realizing I was going to wait- after about 5 minutes he walked over to me and stood in front of me and cold stared look at me. Did I do something wrong? Is asking for a pharmacist recommendation wrong? He pointed and said- Isle some number. He has some real serious customer service issues and clearly doesn't like dealing with the public. This is the worst pharmacy. In fact I created a Yelp account for the sole purpose of rating this place. No matter when you drop off your prescription, it will never be ready when they tell you. Then they make you wait for another 30 minutes and ask you again what your name is so they can finally get around to attempting to filling your prescription. After a particularly long wait, I asked for my prescription back so I could take it somewhere else and they told me that it was against the law. Upon further protest and complaints about how long it takes the pharmacist just shrugged me off and said "that's life". Nice. read more

If I could give this Pharmacy 0 Stars I would. Not only are the employees there very rude and unhelpful, they are down right dangerous. The screwed up the dosage amount on my persecription and I ended up taking nearly three times the amount my doctor perscribed to me. Please, avoid this place at all costs. read more

Extremely rude and inept pharmacist. Have been going back and forth at least three times bc of errors transferring Rx from another CVS (same company, different location). They had somehow put the wrong dr's name on the wrong Rx. Thry promised they'd fix it and it would be ready in one day, but that didn't happen. When I called to complain the pharmacist said it was my problem to fix and hung up on me. Been using CVSs in various places for 30+ years, and their consistency in screwing up Rx refills (ie their job) is astounding. Finally time to switch. Enough of this crap. read more
