Adam's Market is located on the northeast corner of 7th and F Street in NE DC and is one of the superior, small-time convenience stores on the north side of the Hill. It's strengths lie in its variety of merchandise and its warm-hearted Korean owners. It's main drawback is its prices, which, in my opinion, is a necessary evil of running a small-time business in a city and lacking economies of scale. You pay for the convenience of not walking, biking or driving all the way to ghetto Safeway ten blocks away off Bladensburg. Among the more specialized foods served are decent-quality italian meats and cheeses, kombucha tea, a wide variety of wines and beers (to include belgian) that are reasonably priced, Ben & Jerry's iced cream, and several types of asian gummies to include grape and pear. Credit cards are only accepted for purchases of $10 or more, but there is an ATM available in the corner immediately to your right once you enter. read more

Adam's Market is a little gem amongst several other convenience stores in this neighborhood. They have a great wine selection and if they don't have what you're looking for, just ask and they will get it for you if they can. They also have some great cheeses and other high end snacks that you don't find at most corner stores. The couple that own the place and their son are all very nice and always remember you when you're in the store. They even donated money to my LLS Hike for Discovery. Their prices are sometimes a little higher than the other corner stores, but you get what you pay for. read more

They really do have EVERYTHING in here. We needed dry spilt peas. Trader Joes didn't have them, Costco didn't either, Adams market did! From an extra bottle of champagne on New Years Eve to a plunger when we needed it ASAP this place has it. Prices are fair and they are always so friendly. They even have an ATM in there. The only tiny thing I could ask for is that they don't have lottery tickets. read more

They got everything you look for in a great corner store. - Fair prices - Good number of basic items - Nice beer/wine selection - Great Korean ramen and dumplings - Wall of shame for champagne thieves - Wonderful owners Mr. & Mrs. Choe are incredible. From giving me tips on how to cook ramen and make dumpling sauce, to using a broom to chase away a group of teenagers trying to steal a customer's bike, to helping a customer who was super drunk get back to their house ok, to sleeping in the store overnight when a big snowstorm is coming so people can walk to get some bacon and OJ, to always greeting you with a genuine smile... they are they type of people who make a great city neighborhood. This is one of those little neighborhood convenience stores that's only a few blocks from my apartment. I go here fairly often for various little things as a way to avoid having to take the Metro or the bus for basic needs. Adam's Market has a little bit better selection than a couple of the other convenience stores in the area, but what I really appreciate about it is the service offered by the owners. The store is owned by a husband and wife who remember you when you come in and greet you with a smile even if you happen to pass them on the street as they are standing outside the store. They are very personable and welcoming, many times they have been outside as I was walking in and they have happily walked over to the cash register and greeted me with a smile while asking how my day was. Its the little things like that make you appreciate a business and also allow you to forgive some of their marked up prices. read more

I absolutely love this little corner store. This is the perfect little neighborhood stop to pick up milk, bread, or whatever else you may have forgotten off your grocery list. But the thing that makes this place so great is the people. The family that owns and operates Adam's Market is some of the friendliest people ever. They are always welcoming and smiling and always offer some simple, kind words. Just a "stay warm", "have a good day", or "enjoy your weekend". It's genuine and sincere and always brightens my day. They are so friendly that I actually catch myself smiling before I even walk in. There need to be more places like this in DC and more importantly, more people like this. read more

Adam's Market is a great place for picking up a little something for a dinner party (pita chips, hummus, wine) or for a treat (Ben & Jerry's ice cream, cookies, brownie mix, etc.). Unfortunately, I found their cheese marginal and their butter is very expensive, but as Luke says (below), you pay for the convenience. My house is like the one on "Friday" we have kool-aid with no sugar, hot dogs but no buns, cereal and no milk. As a result I frequent this corner store weekly. In addition to having this yummy orange cream soda I like that the owner, his wife and son are really friendly. They often talk to me about sports (not sure why) and the wife always comes out to pet my dogs.They have everything, I've never gone and not gotten what I need and I go for random stuff, goat cheese and heavy cream, garlic bread, and cream soda. It's clean and reasonably priced, not much of a difference between them and Safeway. Oh and side note to the guy in the photo robbing my local corner store, stop being a douche no one likes you and now that I've seen your photo I'm looking for you. read more

This convenience store has all your essentials.. everything from food, to beer and wine, toiletries, and even some fresh produce! This of course in addition to a good amount of other miscellaneous items. Its pretty small but always very clean and organized. The store is run by an awesome couple who never fail to greet you with a smile and are always interested in what you have to say. They have an really funny wall with pictures of thiefs they have caught along with very creative, descriptive captions that are bound to make you laugh out loud! It has everything you need, highly recommended. read more

I have lived in the neighborhood for two years and absolutely love Adam's Market. The Chois are wonderful people - they greet you with a smile and by name every time you walk in, and even on the street. They are so helpful to their regulars - for example, they exchange cash for quarters for those of us who have quarter-operated laundry and if you ask for a product they don't have, they might just order it so they have it next time you come in! They're a bit on the pricey side, but you pay for the convenience. It's literally at the end of my block, so I find myself there once or twice a week picking up staples. This place is so great! I used to live at 7th and F so I spent a good deal of time at Adam's Market. The family that runs the store is so kind and willing to help whenever you need anything. They have a surprisingly great beer and wine selection, and last year when the Dogfish Head Punkin was in season, they held a case for me in the back. Even though we moved out about 8 months ago from the area, whenever we go back they still remember us. Such a great family and a great place. read more

This is a fantastic place. I can't say enough good about it. The people who own it are kind and take pride in serving their customers and watching the neighborhood. Sometimes I will stop in to say hello even if I'm not buying anything in the store. For a store of this size, they have a tremendous selection. They also open early in the morning and stay open late into the night. The prices are almost exactly the same as the grocery.
