This CVS could have more stars if it did two basic things that I expect of all stores: 1) open on time and 2) have employees. I would like helpful employees but at this point, I'll take any. I've walked out without paying for things because the silly automated checkout machines needed assistance and there was no one around to help. On the off chance that you do meet an employee, they will be surly and probably stand in front of what you are hoping to buy even as you keep repeating "excuse me....excuse me.....excuse me." The worst part about this location is the pharmacy. Some of the pharmacists are nice and frankly, that is amazing since they do not often deal with nice customers. But others seem so aloof that I question whether I should trust them. The bigger problem is that the pharmacy never opens on time and sometimes closes early. If you are hoping to pick up an emergency inhaler without triggering another asthma attack, this is a problem. Also, the line when they first open ends up extra-long since people begin arriving when they claim to open, not only when they actually open. The rest of the store goes through phases of being messy or full of soviet-style empty shelves. I just don't understand why keeping shelves stocked is such a problem at so many DC stores. Latest prescription, they filled 30 tablets when the prescription and label on the bottle were for 60. I'm supposed to open each bottle and count the pills before I leave the counter to ensure the idiot pharmacist back there filled it right? Go somwhere else. Your life is in danger. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever gone to. The incompetence is unrivaled--once I got 30 instead of 45 pills of an expensive medication (how do you prove that?) and once they gave me twice the strength of the prescribed pill, which could have sent me to the ER had I not noticed. I have never spelled my name without a misunderstanding and ensuing argument about whether my med is there. My entire name is 11 letters. Seriously. I honestly believe this pharmacy should be shut down by an authoritative body. read more

Vey bad experience with them. I asked them to refill my meds with my manufacturer and insisted it has to be this manufacture, they said ok we will put in the system. the day after when I went back to pick up my meds first asked the lady is that the manufacturer that I asked for, she said yes, i walked away and when i got home I realized it was not, I had to drive all way back to them again and told them the story they kept me waiting for 30 minutes and after that they said we don't have it in our stock anymore, they did not even say sorry. very rude and not helpfull at all. read more

Have you seen the CVS pharmacy commercial with the friendly smiling pharmacist? It wasn't filmed at this location. The pharmacy staff will acknowledge your presence only with a grimace and gritted teeth. The most trivial prescription refill will take an inordinate amount of time with no concern for the customer. The pharmacist didn't even know what "chiggers" were (a visitor was asking for some medication).'' They should bulldoze this location down and put another liquor store in. read more

I also would give this place zero stars if I could. Avoid it at all costs!! The level of incompetence is really astounding, particularly in the pharmacy. The employees seem very unhappy to be working there, do not make helping you their priority, and in fact, give the impression that you are bothering them. I'm convinced that it is impossible to go in there, pick up a prescription that supposedly is ready for pick-up, and leave within ten minutes, which would be expected of a normal pharmacy. This isn't a normal pharmacy - expect to wait at least 20 minutes, likely more - plus deal with some serious attitude while you are there. No me gusta. read more

The pharmacy here is terrible. i went about a year ago and the pharmacist was on the phone, yakking away for almost 20 minutes, while a bunch of us stood around and waited. He seemed to be chatting with a friend in his native language. Then finally when he got to the waiting group, he was very curt and dismissive. The item i was looking for - he just waved me in a general direction and blew me off, not in the least concerned whether i found it or not, even though i had been waiting so long to find out where the heck it is. This experience was so negative i would never go back there - what an ass! The one at Safeway at 5th and L is a hundred times better. read more

This is the pharmacy from hell. First of all, it is cramped in the back where you order your prescriptions. Secondly, nothing is EVER ready, probably because they stock very little and have to call other stores to get it. Some of the people who work there have a very shaky knowledge of our language. I would go anywhere to avoid this place. Its major advantage is location, but there is another, marginally better CVS at Dupont Circle. There you still have to wait but at least they have the drugs in stock. read more

This store makes me worried about the future of our country. It's that bad. They can go days without having one satisfied customer in the pharmacy department. I have never had a positive experience submitting a prescription and picking it up. It's not there, it's the wrong dose, they don't have the dose and insist on giving me huge pills to cut into quarters, they claim they never received the fax, the list goes on. Usually they realize these things after I've been waiting for an hour. AN HOUR. I have observed countless people screaming and crying. If ANYONE has management's contact information, please share it. CVS Pharmacy at 14th & P. My complaint is with Patrick Johnson. He yelled at me when I did not hear him and accused me of trying to mess him up. Worst. Ever. This Pharmacy is horrendous! Not only is the customer serivce atrocious, but all of the employees seem to be completely inept. Every time I call in they seem to have lost my prescription (or "just can't find it") and I have to wait days while my doctor resends them prescriptions. I recently called in to get a refill on a prescription that I have literaly been filling at DC CVSs for TEN YEARs and they said they had no record of it in the system and then accused me of lying or being confused. Yes, CVS on P St used to be an abysmal experience, and I refer primarily to the pharmacy. However, someone at CVS hdqtrs. must have finally become aware because there has been a complete turnaround, both in pharmacists and support staff. I agree that Patrick is AWESOME! This is my first yelp review, although I have used yelp to reference new venues, hotels, and restaurants many times. Why then would my first review be of a cvs you may wonder. That would be because while searching for something to do, on yelp of course, in the area we stumbled apon a rain storm. Determined not to let a little rain spoil the day we ducked into this cvs to grab an umbrella. After leaving my boyfriend joked that this particular cvs had a 1 1/2 star rating... we both laughed and went about our day when my umbrella I had bought broke (cheaply made). Well in most cases I would have just eat the cost of the junk but we were still in the area and I only used the thing once, so I decided to return it. While waiting in line I noticed the cashiers were very friendly and helping all the customers with their various request. They returned my junk umbrella no questions asked. So they deserve more than just a 1 1/2 star rating. read more

Worst pharmacy I've ever been to. On top of the fact that they screwed up three of my prescriptions (giving me the wrong dosage or medication), they also rarely have the prescriptions ready on time. Rude pharmacists and workers who actually yell at customers. The people behind the pharmacy counter behave as though customers aren't there to pay their salaries, but are there just to bother them. I accidentally left my credit card in the self check-out because I was carrying many things and in a hurry... I didn't go back until almost 8 hours later, and definitely was NOT expecting it to be anywhere in the store. I checked anyways and one of your wonderful employees (Terrence) had grabbed the card and kept it in the back in case I returned. Living in a community where a) good customer service is VERY hard to come by and b) honesty and good citizenship are rarities, I was SO thankful beyond words that Terrence took the time to go above and beyond his normal job and keep my belongings safe for me. Having been robbed at a yoga studio last week and then seeing a young woman get stabbed to death a block from my apartment, I've been a little down on mankind lately. Terrence has reminded me that there are good people in the world. He deserves some kind of bonus or promotion or something for sure. read more

I feel compelled to do to leave feedback. I have been utilizing the pharmacy for more than 4 years. Over the years, the service at the pharmacy has been absolutely horrid, if you read any of the reviews online you'll see people have left a plethora strong negative comments. However, recently CVS hired a new pharmacist, Patrick Johnson, who has gone above and beyond every time. He consistently double-checks his work (and others work, there are one or two remnants left from the bad heydays) and is friendly, timely, and quick to offer solutions when then are complications. I experienced this first hand during a visit and have also witnessed this work ethic on previous visits. As a neighbor of this CVS, I am delighted to finally have fantastic customer service from a pharmacist who is clearly capable and knowledgeable. I imagine there are many locals that are delighted with this positive changes. Bravo Patrick!!! read more

the customer service here is horrible! the only reason i come here is because of the convenience of the location.. yesterday, i was waiting all day for a prescription that my doctor called in, but i was told that he never called in. so, first thing this morning, i called my dr's office, and he told me he DID call in the prescription. so, the nice receptionist at my dr's office called CVS, but she told me she was rudely put on hold multiple times and told me to just go there later and get my rx. i decided to call CVS, and i was told by the same employee i spoke with yesterday that he didn't have time to check the voicemails yet and that i would have to call again in half an hour. it seems like he never even checked the voicemails yesterday and just told me that my dr never phoned in my rx. read more

Probably the nicest 2-star review I'll ever write, because the other ones are so childish--classic spoiled Washingtonians. Except for the misfilled perscription nothing mentioned here is unusual for a chain drug store, esp. a CVS. Lines? even before the self-serve, they were nothing like the ones in the old Woodley Park store or the one near my workplace in Montgy County (where the customers seem compelled to change their minds or realize they forgot a coupon just as the transaction is supposed to end). The out of stock issues aren't as bad as they used to be, and less annoying than at the Thomas Circle or 17th St stores. The service isn't great and despite building many new stores, CVSs are never familiar or intuitive in their layouts. Want great service? Go to one of the dwindling number of indies and pay a lot more, or perhaps go to Walgreens (22nd & M, a bit of a hike) whose stores usually are marginally better in terms of inventory control and service than CVS. Don't want to wait for a prescription--go early in the am or after the after work rush. During the middle of the day, it can take a long time, anywhere. read more

So bad its incredible. As a previous reviewer noted, if I could have given this store nil stars I would have. Its bizarre that they have a board in the store showing who the manager is, as this shop is clearly not managed in any way at all. Tonight was really the final straw - not because of the untidiness of the store; not because of the idiocy of the employees; not because of the lack of stock on the shelves; but this time because they have torn through the handles of all the coke multi-packs ensuring that if you pick one up and walk out the store within about 3 feet it will tear down the middle and spill the cans across the sidewalk. Ah! What a laugh the employees must have had as they spent their time tearing through the coke packs, giggling how funny this would be and how much it would annoy their customers. How they must have japed. Well I thought - perhaps I will ring up the store and suggest they move the others from the shop floor before other customers have the misfortune of experiencing this. Once I got through and explained the situation to a staff member, he explained he had to get a manager and put me on hold never to answer the phone again - ha! how they must have laughed. What a dump. Hopefully some other enterprise will come along offering cleaning products and pharmacy services and we can all wave goodbye to this bizarrely dreadful store. read more
