Tanaya was so lovely. She greeted every guest that walked through the door (even if she wasn't acknowledged once.) 5 stars for her!!

This CVS gets two stars only because it is always very well stocked. However, the lines are always long and the pharmacy is HORRENDOUS. They are painfully slow at the register and work with no sense of urgency, even when the line is 5 deep. They are also unaware of the ID rules regarding sales of Sudafed and I was turned away after giving them an ID that was not a drivers license. After going home and looking the regulations up online, I called the manager who straightened out the situation for me. This is NOT how I wanted to spend a Sunday with a bad cold- arguing with CVS to get medication that I need. If you get your prescriptions there, make sure you got the right medication before leaving! I saw TWO people leave with wrong prescriptions while I was waiting in that amusement park style line that is always present at the pharmacy. In that time, one lady left and returned, and another guy was chased down after he left the store and the pharmacist realized he gave him the wrong prescription. Atrocious!! read more

I just had THE WORST experience at the pharmacy in this CVS. After waiting fifteen minutes with only one person in line in front of me it was finally my turn. I handed my prescription to the guy behind the counter. He disappeared for five minutes only to come back and tell me they didn't have it and it would take a week to get it. When I asked if he could call another CVS in the neighborhood to see if they had it in stock his response was, and I QUOTE..."That's not my problem." Wow. I will never go back in this store again. I have also heard a few horror stories about mixed up prescriptions. The lines here are always so long and the staff is extremely rude and SO SLOW. I got great customer service at the Grubb's Pharmacy on 4th and East Capitol. They will be getting my business from mow on. read more

I specifically signed up for Yelp, so I could leave a review about this CVS. Customer Service is nonexistent at this place. There have been times that I have said "Hello!" to the person at the counter, only to be greeted with silence. Regardless of the number of items I purchase, they never offer me a bag. When I do ask for a bag, the lady at the counter rolls her eyes at me. The rudest people work at this CVS. After my last mishap (being verbally berated by the photo technician for asking a question), I have vowed to never ever, ever, ever set foot in this CVS again. read more

Forget my past review. Their photo processor sucks too! Make sure you look at your pics before you leave! Mine were all washed out and had red streaks on them so I made them re-print them. The lady just said, "I didn't even look at them" and tried to get me to walk back to my office to get me files. I told her the ones on their comp should be fine and to re-print. She did. So frustrating! I need to start going to a professional place! read more

Okay, I honestly don't know why people are freaking about this pharmacy. Yes, it's going to be busy if you're coming between 5-7pm, M-F. But the pharmacists are really helpful, and go above and beyond in helping you deal with insurance. It's also convenient. They still develop film! Just as with Safeway in this neighborhood, I think the only people who write reviews of pharmacies and grocery stores are people with negative experiences, so I think the 1.5 stars that this currently has isn't indicative of people's thoughts. read more

Very under-staffed, crowded, and just not customer-oriented. Make sure you have lots of time, 'cause you are going to wait.

This is one of the worse CVS' in the city. The manager Edith is extremely unprofessional and lacking of knowledge concerning the products, policies and procedures. The only reason why I gave the business 1 star is because of the pharmacy staff, including the pharmacist , who are very helpful and certainly do not deserve to receive the bad review that the store is so deserving of based upon the bad service and unprofessionalism. I am contemplating changing pharmacies to use Target or Giant. They've only gotten my business because of the location - in Capital Hill. I do not recommend patronizing this business. read more

I wish that giving this horrible CVS a low rating would have some consequence but it won't - because everyone in there is forced to use it because the only other option is another horrible CVS. The wait is always so long because the staff is painfully slow. Watching them shuffle around and search for a prescription only to realize they never filled it, even though they said they did, is enough to make you need a prescription for rage. They must be taught in training to mumble unhelpfully and act confused over simple questions. The whole place is so disorganized and backwards. It scares me that these people are in charge of medications. read more

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - DO NOT USE THIS CVS PHARMACY!!!!!! I just had the most horrific experience - that literally could have resulted/or still may result in the death of someone. I did not realize I had the wrong medication until I returned home. The bottle was labeled correctly as was all the other attached paperwork, however the pills inside were not the right ones. They were not the usual size or color and so I went online to double check as sometimes the manufacture changes and so the pills will look different. My online search confirmed my suspicions that I was given the wrong medication, in fact, I was given a steroid (prednisone) instead of a pain medication (vicoprofen). I immediately called the pharmacy and spoke to the pharmacist and explained the situation. He said to bring in the pills and he would check. My husband volunteered to bring them back and pick up the correct ones - as I was not feeling well and in pain. Upon his arrival, he went to the pharmacist, who then accused my husband of switching pills, claiming that he absolutely double checked this order and he knew he had given me the right pills. My husband then had to come back to the house and pick me up to go back to the store and again explain the situation. The pharmacist was adamant that he had not made a mistake, but that I had switched out the pills, so I could receive more. I asked him how on earth would I get prescription medication to change out for another. While we waited for the manager to arrive, another customer was at the counter waiting for his TWO prescriptions to be corrected. He had also been handed incorrect medications. I said to the pharmacist, I understand we all make mistakes and that he needed to get on the phone to whoever was supposed to have this prescription as they may have the wrong medication, which could result in someone's allergic reaction or even death (if they took too high a dose). A customer is out there with the wrong pills and it could KILL them. The pharmacist and the manager continued to insist that this type of mistake could not happen, would never happen. It was so unbelievable! Instead of apologizing and fixing the error and trying to find out what customer had the incorrect medication - they insisted I was lying. I was very upset - and in pain - and it caused quite a scene in the store. If you dare to use this pharmacy, MAKE SURE YOU OPEN THE BOTTLE IN THE STORE to ensure you have the right medication - IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE! I will be reporting this incident to all the proper authorities and CVS corporate offices. read more

Other reviewers have said it. Long lines, no organization, half the time they don't fill the prescription, even with plenty of notice. If you have any other option for a pharmacy, stay away. read more

Worst service ever! Staff are rude, they answer the phone only to hold you without even asking whether you would like to be on hold, tried calling again, they answered and then pushed me to voicemail. This is the worst CVS in the DC area. The lines are always long, the people are rude, the store is dirty, and service is slow.

Never again. I have lived in the area since August and used this CVS because it was close and easy to transfer my prescriptions from my previous CVS to this one. However, they have repeatedly failed to fill prescriptions on time, neglected to phone to let me know that a prescription I had ordered through them would not be available because they would have to order it (which seems to be the case with almost all of the medications!) and given incorrect information about refill dates. After 3 screw ups in 3 days, and then the attitude of one of the pharmacists who had been responsible for 2 of the 3 errors, I say never again. I used them for convenience - but it isn't convenient to wait 40 minutes in line, on three occasions, and to still walk away without you prescriptions. read more

In four years, I have never seen the same pharmacist or cashier. The turnover reflects the horrid service. My prescription has never been correct once. Not a single time. I also don't understand the difficulty of deciphering the alphabet. When I realized Harris Teeter took my insurance, I transferred my scrips out. The difference is striking. read more

This is the worst cvs pharmacy I have ever been to. They have lost over 3 of my prescriptions with no documentation of ever having them. they leave me 3 voice mails a day saying I have prescriptions to pick up and then when I go to pick them up they don't have anything. And when they lost my prescriptions they were rude to me about it... Not helpful at all read more

The CVS at 12th and Penn SE and the one at 7th and Penn SE both are consistently poor in terms of customer service - from the check out personnel at the front of the store to technicians in the pharmacy. Sour faces and bad attitudes are sure to greet you at almost every turn. Unfilled prescriptions seem to be the latest trend. They aren't filled until you show up - hours after they've been called in by the doctor. Then the excuses start!!!! Absolutely terrible. read more
