I know this Wawa can be shady outside at night but I kinda like it. I mean I feel safe because there is a security guard inside most times. Every time we have visited and there was a security guard, we were greeted in a very friendly manner. I mostly visit this Wawa for the Diet Raspberry and Diet Peach Iced Teas. I cannot find those particular diet flavors in FL so I stock up when I visit DC. We have purchased Lottery tickets when the machine was on or working, which is rare. I have never ordered made to order food here because I usually eat meals at the hotel or other restaurants in the area. I think my husband has purchased food here in between jobs and did not experience any issues. The staff seem okay here. I do not recall interacting much with the staff and I have usually paid for items with the self check out. There is a great selection of drinks and snacks considering how small the store is. Wawa is a great spot if you need a convenience store... Or a moderately tasty sandwich that doesn't respect itself. Look I was born and raised in New Jersey so I'm not new to Wawa but they have been raising their profile since I left in 2005. They now enjoy a weird celebrity status that seems like too much for a convenience store but Jersey folks love it and now people in an ever expanding group of states are learning to be unreasonably in love with it too. Ok so they got all your standard convenience store needs and also an expansive food menu, so that's 5/5. This food overall is generally pretty tasty (4/5), as far as one can reasonably expect from a glorified gas station. So all respect there I really appreciate this place for ejat it can snd does do (it could be horrific, have you seen the stuff 7-Eleven claims is safe for human consumption???) But the sandwich engineering is where they stump me: 3/5 The beauty and brilliance of a sandwich or sub is that you layer the ingredients and then get a little bit of everything when you bite into one. Unfortunately Wawa follows the same engineering that the Satan incarnate itself Subway has somehow popularized: throw sh*t in sideways and to hell with the very point of a sandwich at all. Let's review my Thanksgiving Sub case law: 1. Treat the hinge of the sub roll as the bottom of the sandwich for some good awful reason. No one on earth, not even Trump and Epstein have done anything so bad to make the rest of humanity deserve this. In this case they put the serviceable cranberry sauce down there in the crook of the bread. 2. Now that their sociopath store policies have established that your sub is oriented in a v shape instead of sideways like a sane rational human would do, they smush in the stuffing. Tasty enough stuffing though. 3. Now comes the turkey. It's convenience store turkey, so it probably tastes as good or bad as you're thinking it does depending on your personal life choices. So let's review: we have a v shape roll of bread with cranberry at the bottom, stuffing in the middle and turkey just barely inside the top of bread V. -this is bad enough because once you turn it sideways to eat it, because it's a sub and you're not an alien whose never heard of this food vehicle before, you have to choose left or right bites of either turkey and stuffing or stuffing and cranberries thus ruining the entire point of a sandwich - 4. Now the ultimate tragedy of this sandwich tomfoolery: they ladle a bunch of gravy on top of this unholy V, which is brimming with turkey out past the edges of the bread. Said gravy (which like the turkey tastes as good or bad as you think of will) is just spilling over all the sides of the roll. It's not in the sandwich. They have somehow turned my normal sub into some kind of au jus situation where you don't duo it they just pre douse the sandwich for you. What a mess! A tasty mess. But not even an inexpensive mess in exchange for your troubles! This joker cost me about $13! Why don't i just go to a proper sandwich place for that price? In conclusion if you want a standard convenience store I absolutely recommend Wawa. If you want a sandwich that's pretty good but maybe has self esteem issues, I absolutely recommend Wawa. If you just walked into one by accident and decided to look it up on Yelp, I can put your fears to rest and confidently say yes you should stay there and get what roll ups or nicotine pouches you came for. Also their coffee is pretty solid in terms of convenience store coffee which I generally love even though I also love $5 lattes with an $8 pastry. read more

Switched up our breakfast run! A lil bit further of a walk but change is nice sometimes! It was easy to order on the kiosk and pay. I got a latte and a bagel. The place is actually really cool once you learn how to navigate it So they make the sandwiches fresh for you and you add all the toppings via a flat screen. Nice idea. The sandwich was actually better than I thought it would be. You must pay before you get your sandwich, good idea. The place is clean as can be for the amount of traffic that comes through. Ehh if there is nothing else open, this is better than nothing. I came here after midnight and a night out with friends and walked from a nearby hotel I was staying at. Outside this location, you have homeless or people near entrance begging for money. On the inside, you have a ton of people waiting for their sandwiches to be prepared. Many of the shelves were bare including anything resembling bakery or fresh items like chocolate chip cookies. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes for a simple chicken panini. Part of the confusion was I used the kiosk to order the sandwich and didn't know you have to pay with that ticket at the front with the cashier that was missing most of the time trying to stock shelves. The sandwich was ok but the bread wasn't stacked evenly and I sure didn't run back to the hotel. The cooks did their best but this location needs more employees and more food! read more

This Wawa always has a homeless person outside of it. It's also right by a McDonald's so there's also that crowd. You'll get some stragglers that hang out in the entrance way. But it's always consistent. I love Wawa personally, I just wish this location wasn't surrounded by filth. read more

My first experience with Wawa. Travelled to DC with a friend who is a Wawa fanatic. So much that this was a must go to when we realized it's a few blocks from the hotel we were staying out. Went on a Sunday morning when they weren't busy. Thank goodness I was with a seasoned pro as he knew to go to the kiosk to place your order. I enjoyed this as there was no pressure to hurry up and pick something, and you got to see all of the options. We got two different custom sandwiches, the brisket sandwich and the cheddar broccoli & chicken noodle soup. I enjoyed the soup - broccoli cheddar - as it was creamy and warm. Tasted how I imagine broccoli cheddar soup. The sandwich I had was really tasty and I"m glad I got the normal amount of meat and the smaller size roll. The double meat is crazy, so you gotta be hungry for it. We both ended up eating only 1/2 our sandwiches and 1/2 of the soup. The brisket sandwich was missing something...maybe more sauce...but it wasn't the favorite item on the list. I'd go back when near one to try other items on their menu. read more

I attended a seminar at the University of Pennsylvania for six weeks several years ago and stayed in one of the university dorms. There was a Wawa just steps away from the dorm, so my roommate and I used to go to Wawa pretty much everyday. Coffee, hoagies, water, snacks, toiletries, etc... I've seen a few Wawas in DC but this was the first time I've been in one here. This one is just across the National Museum of Women in the Arts. I needed something cold to drink after my visit to the museum, so I went in and got a bottle of mineral water. This one is pretty new. It's very spacious inside and they have the usual snacks, drinks and convenience store offerings. They have self service kiosks too for you to order your hoagies. They don't have gas of course since they're in the middle of downtown DC in the street level of an office building. They have all the usual Wawa stuff and it's a good place to stop if you need a snack, cold drink, coffee, etc. It's fairly new and clean, staff is friendly enough and I'll come back here if I'm in the area. read more

I naught a "buffalo chicken" sub from this location along with a bag on bugles and a green ice tea, I didn't wait long for the "hoagie" but again only two workers on a Friday afternoon like c'mon! After the wait I paid for it, went back to my office (two blocks away) opened the poor excuse for packaging only to find the SOGGIEST, SLOPPIEST mess of a sandwich. The bread was leaking everywhere. I split the sandwich in half and just eat the dry parts which was still unbearable so I just threw it away after three bites. Waste of money and I was still hungry of course.
