Amazing customer service! I have been going to the CVS forever to pick up prescriptions. The pharmacy is fabulous. They always figure out whatevet the issue is with Insurance and are super helpful. Their hours are great, especially during the work week. They are open early and close late so thankful for them. Why am writing this review is because there's a new guy who helps you maximize your Cvs savings! He helps you maneuver the app and maximize your coupons. I forgot to ask his name. CVS more than tripled the price of my cholesterol medication prescriptions from April to July. I should have checked before going to the store. They were on auto-refill. Who would expect that to happen on very generic medications? Immediately switched to my health insurer's mail-order pharmacy, whose prices had been a little higher. read more

Usually I have an excellent service at 3600 Geary but yesterday when I went there was only 2 women there and customer service was terrible! For 1 thing usually when I ring for someone to open a case I don't have to wait too long. Yesterday I had to ring 3 times for someone 3unlock the case. Also I took 2 items that I thought was on sale at clearance price ( they only had 2 left) and when I went to ring myself up it didn't give me the clearance price but buy 1 get on 40% off! When I asked the clerk she said the scanner showed that was correct and she took a picture of the area that showed the clearance shelf empty. Of course it was empty because I took the last 2!!! Was very pleased with the pharmacy's willingness to accept my prescription bottles for confidential recycling. CVS is known for its community-oriented services, and there is much to be appreciated in this day and age. Review for the online order pickup. Since I was going to be in the area, I place an online order for pickup at this store. Though they have a parking lot at the corner of Arguello and Geary, I was able to find a parking space out front. They had a worker standing near the entrance and I asked him about online pickups and he directed me to the cashier's line. There was no one in line with one person at the cashiers. After a brief wait, I gave my name to the cashier for my pickup order and he retrieved it from the shelf and handed it to me and I was on my way. Great staff n very personal in pharmacy dept. Got covid n dtap n the wait was not long.

What could improve? Everything. First it's annoying to shop there because everything is behind glass cases. Literally everything. I used to run by quick for Tylenol or bandaids or whatever but now I just get them delivered. The glass cases turn a 3 minute errand into a 10 minute errand. Second the pharmacy is terrible. There are never appointments for vaccines even tho they are listed as offering them. If you do get an appointment there is a long wait even after your appointment time. If you try to walk in you are told to get an appointment. Also the pharmacy cannot seem to get its orders straight. Often a prescription is listed as out of stock when it is in stock or the other way around. This leads to a lot of calling and running around. Also if you do try to call them good luck getting a human. If you do get a human good luck getting one who actually is helpful and gives good information. I was there picking up a prescription yesterday and the human I spoke with face to face gave me wrong information and now my prescription is delayed. Also if you use the online system to request changes, good luck getting a human to review the changes so they can actually happen. Walgreens has a really diminished presence here but their customer service was excellent and if there were any so close I would use them. I am considering moving to the Safeway on 7th which is farther but might be better. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. The latest mishap? They mixed up my personal information with another client and ended up giving me her personal information, including her home address and her telephone number just to prove that I didn't make an appointment for my vaccination. When I told them that this wasn't my name, it wasn't my address and it wasn't my phone number they started to argue with me. I pulled out my drivers license to show them my picture with my address and the still argued that I didn't have an appointment. Unbelievable...I then showed them the text message confirmation and the confirmation email as well, they were still not convinced. On that occasion I ended up leaving and going to Walgreens at Point Lobos. Walgreens saw me as a walk in.. I will not be dealing with CVS in the future. Here in San Francisco we've got Walgreens, Safeway and Costco who are all competent and trustworthy. My only regret is that now they have my personal info. How can I trust them to not accidentally show it to another customer? I can't. Ok that's my take. Oops I haven't even mentioned that everything is locked up and they are so understaffed that there is nobody to unlock the merchandise. And half the time their automated checkout system is not working... maybe other locations are better but that bit where they confused me with another person was the last straw. Btw the one overworked staff was a very nice woman and she did her best to help me but stopping by to buy toothpaste and a few other items shouldn't take 30 minutes. read more

I have been using this CVS or many years, including for prescriptions and vaccines, and have had excellent results. The staff is efficient, helpful, and courteous. Most recently, after my health plan dropped a particular drug from the approved list, they are working with me to get a waiver, purchase at a discount, or find an alternative acceptable to the insurer. read more

Here I go, the staff in that store are totally oblivious of customer care including the pharmacist. 1- Last week they received a prescription for diabetes supplies. Well in my first visit, they had the wrong diabetic test strips and NO Accu=Check guide. They said come back tomorrow. When came back the next day they had the test strips but NO Accu=Check guide. I had to come back again to get it. 2- I went to emergency on 12/2/2025. I went to receive my medication. I received one, baclofen but lidocaine wasn't ready. I was told to come back today 12/3/2025. I haven't heard a word. So, I when down again, I was told by the staff that they have no record. So, I when home got the emergency exist paper and when to CVS again 3600 Geary Blvd. So, I asked to talk to the pharmacist. He went back and checked, then he told me it wasn't covered by Medicare. I am angry, but I hate to lose them as pharmacy, since I am 77 years old and the pharmacy is only a block and half away. read more

I am giving this 5 star rating mainly for the pharmacist, Jacqueline! However, I have been going this CVS for my parents the last few years, the staff at this pharmacy are always hardworking, polite and efficient and they certainly deserve 4+ stars. My parents both are in their 90's, start having a lot of health issues. Both have gotten COVID and ended up at the hospitals a few times. Recently, my mom got COVID again. The COVID lasted more than 2 weeks and finally ended up at the hospital for a few days. We have been buying the COVID test kits. One of my sisters told me to find out if there's anyway to get any free test kits since my parents are both Medi Cal recipients. I did some research and found out that, effective July of this year, Medi Cal patients are able to get 8 free COVID test kits every month - at least until September of this year. My guess is the surging COVID! I took the attached Notice from the California Department of Public Health to the Castro Valley CVS Pharmacy Department and spoke to one of the pharmacists. He gave me an attitude and told me that they simply didn't have any in the inventory to give and did not even look at the notice I had. My sister looked up on her computer and did find that there were test kits at their Castro Valley CVS. So, I assume that either the pharmacist did not want to help (more than likely - judging from his angry voice) or their inventory on the computer was wrong. Either way, his attitude was unacceptable since I did nothing wrong and it is his job to act professionally to help, shouldn't this be basic professionalism? I did not give up, I took the attached to this CVS in San Francisco, across the street from my parents' place and showed it to one of the pharmacists, Jacqueline. This time, I even yellow high lighted the relevant sentence so that it would save the pharmacist's time to read - did not want to get "yelled at" again! Surprisingly, Jacqueline was very professional and polite. I could tell that she was quite busy but she was kind enough to take a look at my notice and did some research on her computer. Within a minute, she told me that she checked the insurance and it went through. So she told me that she would need about 10 minutes to get both my parents 8 test kits each. Jacqueline was not only helpful, she acted professionally and efficiently. I got the test kits in 10 minutes. It was like day and night when compare her with the pharmacist at the Castro Valley CVS! read more

When you go to your Medicare advantage plan and they have you set up with CVS watch the prices. I went to order nitrile gloves and 50 of them were $30. Go to their website and the same thing is $16. I went to my own pharmacy/drug store and paid $4. And yes all three were store brand. read more

Getting prescriptions is a fabulous cluster. You just need to show up here because they don't answer the phone and when they do they just pick it up and hang it back up. My provider and I both tried for 3 hours straight. (I have an amazing PCP.) Then when you get there expect to be completely ignored by the scowling pharm tech named Lay. Lay will be glad to bark at you for daring to be a customer while she avoids eye contact and complains about her job for all to hear. It's frustrating as a patient and as a nurse. When I was able to speak with the pharmacist (Lay literally just wandered off without any explanation) they were able to help me. This place is clearly understaffed by people who hate their jobs...most likely because their staffing sucks. The problem is the only people that are effected by the hostility and ineptitude are the patients. I am able to advocate for myself, but what about elderly and incapacitated patients who don't have the ability to physically go to the pharmacy? My partner and I stopped in CVS for an energy drink and a few other items. The store is well lit and organized. A woman named Maria helped us check out. While waiting for our Lyft, a wild "Karen" appeared, yelling at Maria about how CVS wouldn't deliver her package and she was going to lose $400. Maria very calmly handled the situation with the yelling woman in front of her, trying to answer her questions and explain that there was no ability for the CVS to accept the package. "Karen" only became even more unhinged, yelling for - and I'm not kidding - absolutely SCREAMING for the manager. She started saying Maria was being completely unreasonable and was, and I quote (and have on video) "making me feel unsafe" and "I'm going to call corporate and they'll give me another gift card because this location always has this problem" Miss Karen, if you find this review, know that other patrons in the store WILL record you. Wow. June 27th. We went in before closing and 2 women were working there. I could not find the item that I wanted. They not only helped me find it, but they helped me open the plastic around this container. It would have been a disaster if they had not been there and I would not have purchased this. I couldn't find an open register, used self-checkout and didn't print the receipt for items including a wrist compression sleeve. Very very very stupid. When I got home the box was empty. I returned an hour later and was told they didn't remember me and I should have noticed the weight of the box. I have a Walgreens within close walking distance of my home, but I drive to this CVS instead for my prescriptions. It is clean, well-stocked, and the pharmacy is efficient (compared to Walgreens especially). I'm writing a review because tonight I was in the middle of an unusual asthma attack-- because I don't regularly have asthma, I didn't have anything at home to help. I was scared that it was going to get worse, was having trouble breathing, and really didn't want to go to the ER. I drove to this CVS to see if there was anything OTC I could take. The pharmacist was incredibly helpful and empathetic, and helped me locate something that helped immediately. It's really refreshing to have a neighborhood pharmacy that helps when needed. I waited for him to finish what he wanted to say, then when I was talking, he interrupted several times and when I asked him to listen to me. He then raised his voice. I got banned from it. I was just standing there in the isle. I was just talking to my friends showing them something and asking them to see what they wanted but then a worker said that we were blocking his customers from getting a drink, so when my friend was walking away, he heard a giggle. Then he said, AND I QUOTE, "Oh so your laughing now, you just ruined it for your friends here." Then he walked us out, and while walking out, he said to another worker that we are no longer allowed to come back in. So, me and my friends weren't able to get a drink. read more

they do not answer their phones. if you have any questions before heading here to pick up medications, your call will not be answered. the staff is really nice once you come into the store, but the phones are ringing constantly and everyone consciously ignores them doing other things. it's frustrating when you need to get in contact with them for issues with medications prior to arriving because now you have to wait there for an extra 30 mins instead of just resolving the issue over the phone.... 1 extra star for nice staff. but for the love of god please answer the phones! read more

(as all drugstores are today). didn't bother looking at the booze, didn't see it on a walkby. just checked the snacks eats: pringles (3/$5) -used to be a fav, no longer, price increase and too salty. -got cheddar cheese, pizza, and original. cheese taste faint, more sugar than cheese on ingredients list, all these chemicals too. take aways: -instant greeting when i entered, walgreen, cvs do this drill quite well. read more

This place needs a security guard. Full stop. It's been open for less than a year, and already, two times I've been in there, people have openly robbed the store while the poor cashiers have either attempted to stop them or just directed them to get out. It also shows in that they don't keep everything as stocked up as they could, probably to mitigate losses. It's great that it's just a block away from my work, but I'm worried they'll just shut it down if the thefts continue. read more

Conveniently right across the street from my work. Always a good place to grab a quick snack or even a small personal necessity. The store is always nicely stocked with all the items that your typical CVS caries. Very large selection of drinks, cookies, and crackers. I basically make my way across the street on a daily basis because there seems to be something that I always need or crave... HAHA I do have to say that the staff is also very nice if they know you and see you often. I'm always greeted when I enter the store and if ever I need help, someone is right there to assist me. I have to pay credit to the awesome pharmacists at this location. Both Jessica and An are amazing people to work with. They are always ahead of the formulary game, make sure no conflicting meds are being prescribed, and are always great when you ask for something to be filled quickly. Just today I had a Dr prescribe something that was not on formulary. Rather than hearing a day later, I spoke with Jessica, she gave me the right formulary info and dose and I was able to get the script reissued in minutes rather than days. I feel lucky to have them so near our house. We get letters weekly from our insurance asking us to switch to mail order but we refuse because of the great service this location provides.
