Terrible experiences here. My gf has nightmare stories about getting her prescriptions here. They create rules that no other pharmacy has. Apparently we're no longer to use US Passports to get Sudafed. I get this once a month to help with congestion due to allergies for both my family and I. The reason? Because they're unable to 'scan' passports. A US Passport is one of the most powerful identification and travel documents in the world. That CVS won't allow me to pick up a decongestant with it is ridiculous. No other pharmacy has this rule. This isnt state-wide or mandated by any governing or regulatory body. This is just an arbitrary rule via CVS.
Moreover, I have a condition that requires me to take imodium on a daily basis. Im more than happy to buy this retail, despite the price increase and the change in packaging. No other pharmacy or retail location has this mandate, but CVS will only let a person purchase 2 24 packs at a time. That's not a huge inconvenience, but it is annoying. Especially for folks like me who take it on a daily basis and like to keep some at home so I can reduce the number of trips I have to take to grab more.
Now, I think pharmacists play a valuable role in our society. They check for medication interactions and give us the nitty gritty about medication administration. They also consult with doctors about any medication mixups...but a few of them seem to be under the impression that they are doctors. I take controlled medication every day and have to pick up prescriptions every month. I don't use CVS but my partner has, in the not too distant past. Diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and OCD she's supposed to take Ativan occasionally for the panic attacks she gets. The absolute nightmare of filling her script, formerly through CVS, has stopped her from filling her script in nearly a year. After not having her medication in stock, she'd planned to take her script to another pharmacy, but the pharmacist refused to return her scriot. Moreover, they've been contemptuous and presumptuous, making snide and cutting comments. Medications, even controlled ones, save lives and make it possible to function in the context of our larger society and community. For a pharmacist to assume that a patient doesn't need a script with absolutely no dx information, no background and open disdain for anyone that relies on controlled medication, is a brand of insanity bordering on delusional narcissism. CVS pharmacists all seem to be afflicted with this particular disorder despite their education which should certainly preach the opposite.
Don't shop here. Just don't. It's a bureaucratic nightmare that CVS created for mystifying reasons, and a demeaning and frustrating experience. Go to any other pharmacy anywhere else. read more
