If you need a prescription filled, especially for a pain med after you've had surgery, you can count on CVS to be out of that med and only have it available 5 to 10 days after your surgery. this happened to me in March and again just this week. Their workaround for this is to advise you to call your doctor and have your doctor fax over a new prescription for a medicine they do have. Now I don't know about your doctor, but my doctors aren't psychic and have no idea what meds CVS has in stock and ones that they don't Seem is a better method to rectify the situation would be to have CVS call the doctor, inform the doc that the meds they're prescribing are not available, and ask them what would they like to substitute, but that makes too much sense and relies on being customer focused. Somethings CVS has no clue about anymore. read more

I've had my prescription come to this pharmacy a long time. Tonight when I went to pickup. 15 minutes before the pharmacy closed, Carlos helped me and was so incredibly condescending and rude regardless of the fact that the pharmacy was suppose to have my prescription ready yesterday, and because they made a mistake and did not have it ready as promised, rather than Carlos fixing the issue and preparing my prescription to resolve the issue he was incredible rude and condescending and making excuses about the type of drug it was rather than admitting fault the pharmacy just messed up. I came 4 hours after ordering a refill on my prescription and it was still not filled and they said they are behind and understaffed, so it wouldn't be ready until the end if the day. Asked the employee about an item that said it was "in stock" online and she didn't even attempt to try to help. Finally found where the item was supposed to be and it was out if stock. I have been a customer of CVS for many years. I have never had a problem. Lately, there have been 2 instances that were very frustrating. 1. A prescription that was supposed to be on auto refill was not refilled. It went inactive, and I had to get another script from my doctor. The medication was back ordered, and I wasn't informed. Thankfully, I looked at the ap and realized once again, they dropped the ball. My patient advocate found a pharmacy that had some. They called CVS and requested authorization. That request was ignored for 3 days with 4 phone calls from the other pharmacy. There is no option to speak with an actual person. You must leave a message and be called back. I only had one pill left and cannot function without this medication. I feel this was dangerous, and someone should be aware of this incident. 2. Yesterday I went to CVS for 2 items. One item had only 1 left, and I needed 2. There were none left of the other item. I attempted to ask the pharmacy if there were any in the back. I was told they didn't have that information. I went to the front of the store and there was no one to be found. I waited for 5 mins before anyone showed up. Then, I was ignored. I asked if he could help me. I explained the situation and he tried to call someone. No one showed up, and he left me standing there to help someone else. I can't believe that CVS has gone so far downhill. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Remodeling your pharmacy doesn't fix your incompetent staffing issue. This pharmacy needs to fire whoever is failing so miserably at refilling prescriptions on time. Every single time my meds need refilled, they schedule it a week late. My doctor has told me they called them and told them the proper refill date. And yet I have had to call to fix the pharmacists mess every single time. The female pharmacist is incredibly rude, and she even tried to tell me to take my medication differently which is crossing a huge line since she is NOT a doctor. She tries to blame my doctor for THEIR scheduling mistake. And the craziest part is, when I actually get my medication, it says the proper refill time on the package!!! It's right in-front of their faces and they literally cannot get it correct after MONTHS. It's insane. How has no one been fired for this when there are so many reviews similar to mine? Medications are not something to be careless about, whoever is working at this pharmacy and messing things up is putting people's health at risk and that is NOT okay. read more

I visited your store on California Avenue in Reno Nevada with my son just now, and they had abhorrent customer service! I told the lady I would report her so I am. You can't let people like this work at your store if you expect us to ever come back, and I drive past FOUR times EVERY DAY. I don't have to stop in or have my prescriptions here. I asked her name but she refused to give it to me. She had short brown hair, middle aged. My son and I ran in to grab a soda and pretzels before his music olesson. I used the self checkout, but the sale price didn't go through. I was charged $2.99 for a Coke product instead of $2.50 (which was odd because the regular label on the shelf said $2.89, so I was charged too much either way). I wondered if it was because I only got one. It was 2 for $5 but most stores honor the sale price for members. So my son and I took turns standing in line and getting the second soda. The guy was really slow checking people out and we had somewhere to be, and I wasn't even sure he could do refunds anyway, so after a while I asked the lady behind the counter for help. She had her back to me, and when I said "excuse me" she intentionally ignored me. I said it again and she half turned and scowled at me for interrupting her very important box labeling. I very nicely said "I just rang these up but the sale price didn't go through can you please help me with a refund?" She audibly scoffed at me and then said "just a minute." I stood there and she continued to label boxes!!! Not one box, like she was finishing a task. At least 5 more with no end in sight! I told my son to get back in line before we lost our spot, because she wasn't going to help us. So we stood in line again. It was INSANE how she just kept labeling boxes completely ignoring us! So we never got to the front of the line. I put down the second soda and asked her her name and she wouldn't give it to me. I told her I would report her and walked out. She said "well you aren't cooperating anyway" which made absolutely no sense. Cooperate with what? We had gotten back in line when you ignored us! I told her that labeling boxes is not more important than helping a customer. My son and I had very nicely just stood in line and asked her for help. Worst service ever!!!! Can you give no stars?!?!!?? I went to pick up an RX that my doctor had called in, and after waiting in line for nearly 20 minutes, the clerks closed the pharmacy announcing they were closing for lunch. Both I, the other customers behind me, and even the customers at the counter were appalled. When I asked, "You are not honestly not going to serve the rest of us?" This place always used to be the worst pharmacy in town. I recently moved back and thought I'd give it another shot since I live nearby. Big mistake. Things don't change. Customer service rep at the pharmacy counter was super rude (Ruth) and the pharmacist tried to bill me under an insurance I've never even had. She went off in a huff when I told her she had billed the wrong insurance and she had to change it. I guess fulfilling people's needed prescriptions is a chore that she is somehow above as a pharmacist. I'm sad I gave this place another chance, but I guess that's on me. My experience is at the CVS Pharmacy on California Ave., Reno, NV 89509, Store #9168. I left Walgreens as the customer service behind the pharmacy counter was inefficient and always seemed in disarray. The only plus they have is a drive-up window. I switched to CVS on California Ave this year and glad I did. The employees there are very friendly and the pharmacist is very helpful and knowledgeable. I especially want to send Kudos to Shirley, who helped me immensely by advising step by step verification on a new generic prescription, over the phone. She is very cheerful and accommodating and seems to love her job, especially providing excellent customer service. In this time of many jobs being available but hardly anyone wanting to work, CVS Pharmacy is very blessed to have Shirley as their employee in their pharmacy. On 5/10/23 I had an appointment with a hand specialist who prescribed 2 Methylprednisolone packs. Each pack has 21 pills. The plan was to take 6 pills the first and second day, 5 pills the 3rd and fourth day, 4 pills the 5th and 6th day, 3 pills the 7th and 8th day, 2 pills the 9th and 10th day and one pill on the eleventh and one on the last day. I received a text my script was ready, and went to CVS. When I got there, the pharmacy had only filled one pack of 21 pills, and told me that the hand specialist had only prescribed one pack. I asked them to please double check the prescription, which they refused to do. I asked them to contact the doctor's office to clarify this, which they also refused to do. The pharmacist came out and told me the doctor only wanted me to take one pack, which was blatantly untrue, and implied that I was mistaken. I was told my only recourse was to contact the doctor and have them clarify the matter. I left VM with the doctor's office and at 2:00 I received both written and a phone confirmation that the matter had been made clear to the pharmacy and that I was to receive 2 packs. I then received a text from CVS saying that they could not fill my 2nd prescription until the first pack was taken, in about 5 days. I went down again to talk to them. Got there at 4:00PM The person told me they "just got off the phone" with my Dr. and they would fill the 2nd Rx. Walked out with the meds I needed, although the directions for taking them on the label did not reflect the plan the doctor laid out. So, 2 trips later, several phone calls and a near accusation that I was wrong because I was prescribed something differently than is commonly done. And no help whatsoever. I feel sorry for anyone who is in this situation with your pharmacy who can't stand up for themselves. read more

Called to make sure my sons ALREADY called in prescription was being prepared at 530, got here at 615 they told me 15 more minutes. 745 rolls around some short blonde haired kid comes up to me and tells me "sorry we're out I sent it to the Plumb location & normally I'd call to make sure they're working on it but we're almost closed and I have to go." I can't make this up. I leave and call Plumb and they're out too. Meanwhile my 3yr old is home with a double ear infection and bronchitis. One of the things you need more in a pharmacy is for them to be reliable when you need your medications. This one closes unexpectedly with NO explanation. I was in there this week to get a muscle relaxer because I was in a LOT of pain. My Doctor called it in that morning and by 3pm I was there to get it. And 2 employees still there told me they were closed and not filling any new prescriptions today. They literally just watched me and ignored me and did who knows what. Unfortunately my insurance makes me use this chain. Funny how I get 5-6 texts telling me a script that I did not need or want is ready. But when I go in to pick up a script recently called in, they boldly lied to me and said it was never called. The problem there is I was standing right next to the doctor's staff when it was called in. So again today I was standing there when she called it in again. Thank heavens she called them out on it. It's absolutely unacceptable to have a pharmacy not do their job, but to lie about it on top......not right. The store itself has been described by other neighborhood residents as the ghetto CVS. I never thought I would say this, but I miss my sketchy downtown Walgreens. I did not change insurance, but my insurance changed the preferred pharmacy. The whole issue of health care in America is worthy of a good rant - but I will save that for another venue. I usually go to drug store just for prescriptions so this review is for the pharmacy only. The overall layout is much more open that the downtown Walgreens, but it has a old, dirty, dated feel to it. Staff are cordial, but not anything exceptional. The clientele are definitely less sketchy but the whole atmosphere is still depressing and run-down. The pharmacy counter has multiple partitions - one for drop-off and two for pick up, though there is usually only one person working behind the counter. I am used to a one point-of-entry Pharmacy. Normally, this is not an issue, but I was there to drop off a new prescription, transfer a prescription from Walgreens, and pick up a refill. I ended up having to wait a good 10 minutes before anyone came to help the customer in front of me, then it took them awhile to rectify her problem with the insurance, and when it was my turn, the employee walked away. So, after another five minutes she came back, took my new scrip and got the info on a transferred prescription. So then I asked if I could pick up my prescription that was ready. I was told I had to go to the other window. That entailed another wait in line and having to clarify that I only needed to pick up the one that was ready and the other two I would get tomorrow. I went back the next day a little after 6:00 and discovered the Pharmacy was CLOSED! I guess CVS does not have 24 hour pharmacies. Thank-goodness this was not an emergency or something I needed right away. So even with the skeezey street people, I really do like my old pharmacy better. read more

the guy who works in the front, I think his name is chris, is a really cool guy. He is always super helpful and encouraging every time I walk into the store. It makes it a little bit difficult when you walk in the other locations like Walmart and it seems like no one who works there is really there to ever help you. This store does not have that problem because the staff that always work every time I walk into the store always has a really good job putting a smile on my face. Gotta agree with the rest of the 1 star reviews here. It's never been a quick pharmacy and certainly not the best value for your $ but you throw in bad service and you get one less customer. Unfortunately I was stuck because I has an emergency and the dr. called my prescription in to this location. They called me hours later to tell me they didn't have my eye drops and they would have them thd next day. They would not call other cvs locations. Lazy, unapologetic staff. I drove about 30 minutes to get here tonight to get my prescription and they just shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't get it. I have some choice words that I won't put in my review but you can imagine. I ask them to call other locations and they found it. Have to drive another 30 minutes to get the prescription. I've been going to this pharmacy for a couple years and they are always polite, considerate and are very kind and friendly. It's a busy pharmacy and I have had trouble with prescriptions not being written correctly but hey have always told me what to do so I'm able to get the script fixed by the Dr. who wrote the script and what information is needed. I've been really impressed at the patience they have because I've been in line and have heard customers get pretty angry with them because of things out of there actual control. I really understand how frustrating it can be when stock isn't in or they are slammed and you feel awful, but I've never had anyone who has been rude or unhelpful. The worst pharmacy ever. It is evident that they just don't care. Dropped of an RX on Friday which was out of stock. They said to ask the MD if he could change it. The MD said of course just have them call my RN. I gave the staff the direct line to the nurse and they said give us 2 hours to fill it. I come back Saturday morning and no one ever called to get the change approved and told me to wait until Monday. I was furious. You can't wait 3 days to start taking your post op medications to help keep your wound from getting infected. Please don't trust them. They do not care about you getting your medications to keep you well. read more

This review is only for the woman at the pharmacy named Dawn. She was incredibly rude and condescending, I fill all my prescriptions here for myself and my son. When I go in to pick up my sons prescription, she told me twice that I wasn't his mother and I didn't need to lie about that. Her exact words: " You know you don't need to lie about being his mom" I was shocked. I've come in countless times with and without him and never had an issue. I wasn't the only customer she spoke to like that either. All the other staff members are great and I've never had an issue until now. The people at this store are the nicest but the ones at the pharmacy are horrible! Ben and the rest of the technicians don't know what customer service is. They are condescending and defensive. I had the worst experience trying to fill a prescription for my husband. Their system kept sending us texts saying it was ready to be picked up and when I went to get it they couldn't find it. I wasn't upset about it, I only asked them if they could help me re-fill it. At first I was told they couldn't find it and all of a sudden they found it. I gave them all information they needed to help them help me and they were very mean. Everything that came out of their mouths was rude. I frequently received poor service at this CVS, especially the pharmacy. Over the years I've had a few opportunities/needs to pick a new pharmacy, and I've tried CVS several times only to be disappointed each time by pharmacists that are rude, unhelpful, and appear very perturbed and put-out all the time, even with the simplest of tasks or requests. So after years of this I vowed to stop giving CVS more chances. I'm currently at Raley's and they're significantly better (though I miss SaveMart -- they were such great people, and at multiple branches, too). Tonight I needed candy for Halloween (tomorrow) so I stopped in. The prices were remarkably high, but I picked out a bag for $12.99. It rang up as $14.99 and I mentioned the price difference. The cashier, Mary, told me that I "can't go by what the tags say because everyone has moved everything around." I went back and took a look and found that the bin from which I pulled the bag was all full of the same bags. Nothing was "moved around". I took a picture of the tag and went back and compared it to the item technical name on the register readout and it matched. I told Mary that it matched and she grabbed the bag out of my hand and abruptly said, "Here, I'll take it off for you." I thought she meant she was going to adjust the price, but she just voided it from the register. Rude, unhelpful, passive-aggressive and excuse-making. I will never, ever go to this CVS for any reason again. I went to SaveMart and got the same size bag for $7.99. read more

Ever since Longs turned traitor and sold out to CVS, things are not the same around here Alice! In the beginning, CVS put on a very smart promotion. The store sent excellent discount coupons to everyone in the neighborhood and I shopped here a bunch using the promotional discounts. However, I was paying attention to their operation all the while, and noting a general sense of disorganization along with what seems to be a low employee count. Managers are rarely visible and whenever I did see them, they mostly stood around schmoozing with other managers in a self-congratulatory manner -- presumably pleased because they were busy due to all the discount retailing -- but they shouldn't have rested on their laurels. During this break-in period, the store's newly hired employees were friendly and accommodating enough. But after the honeymoon period, the employees became the typical hassled discount drug store employees -- and the customer count quickly dropped. CVS has a stupid policy that punishes the customer for a cashier's ineptitude. Recently, armed with a couple of coupons, I brought a purchase of multiple items to the register and gave the cashier my phone number because I use that instead of carrying a store card. She forgot to input the phone number, and didn't scan in my coupons, so the total was about $6.50 more than it ought to have been. It's a good thing I looked over my receipt when the total seemed too high, before leaving the register. After I caught the mistake, the cashier agreed that this was her screw-up, but it was only my life that was to become more difficult due to CVS's erroneous policy. I was compelled to drag all of my items to the register in photography because my purchase needed to be refunded and re-rung. What a hassle, and what a giant time waster. Overall prices seem a little higher than when this was a Long's store, but between the coupons and the sales, there are items worth purchasing here. CVS closed the store's neighborhood contract postal counter when they took over, so I will never shop here unless I'm getting a fantastic deal, or am so pushed for time that I can't go anywhere else. I'm surprised to hear all the bad reviews. They did go under new management back in August of last year not sure if it's switched hands again. I am usually swinging in for one or two things here. There are usually one or two associates working the floor at a time and are able to move the line along. I've had someone personally walk me to an item I couldn't find. This location works with the WCSD job training program in special education to train individuals with disabilities how to work. I love that this location participates and it's awesome to watch the high schoolers get excited when working hard. read more
