I despise this place. I only go because it is close, but when I need my next prescription filled I'll go somewhere else. I walked in wearing sweatpants to but feminine products and the manager or someone had the nerve to say "security watch" on the aisle I was in. I'm not stupid, I know there's no security at CVS. That's not my problem though, I was BUYING my items. I'm completely taken aback by the way I was treated in there. I had come in wearing my work uniform (SCRUBS) after that, and all of the employees waved to me. I think they mistook me for someone else because of my scrubs. It was disappointing proof that they pick and choose who to be helpful to. There is only one woman at the checkout, NOT the old one with short hair, who is sweet and accommodating. The store isn't new, but the shelves are fairly well stocked and the people on the retail side couldn't be nicer/ more friendly/ more helpful. The pharmacy side is a whole different story. There's an older, heavy set woman at the counter that may be the rudest person in Reno. No need to be unpleasant when someone is just trying to pick up their medications. Worst experience ever today to get my Covid vaccine. I thought my appointment was at 11 when it was really at 11:30 and I am so glad I got there early. I got there, walked in, and the lady told me to go back to the pharmacy. The pharmacy then immediately sent me to the vaccine line and did not think twice. I was in line by 10:30am, they said it was okay that I was there early. There were about 10 people in front of me, and stood in line for 1:45 minutes before I got to the front of the line. I then got to the front and was told that the pharmacy should have run my insurance, but they didn't so I now needed to wait for them to run my insurance. By this time there was a line for the vaccine that went out of the front of the building. There was only 1 man administering vaccines. It took another 20 minutes for my insurance to be run and processed. I ended up getting my vaccine after 2 hours and 5 minutes of waiting in the store. It was the most unorganized, chaotic, and frustrating situation. While this was not the fault of the man administering the vaccine, other people waiting were taking it out on him. Someone in line behind me asked why there was only 1 person administering vaccines on a busy Saturday and they said that's all CVS scheduled to work for the day. My recommendation... go anywhere else besides here to get your vaccine!! read more

I had to switch from Walgreens to CVS due to my insurance and I want to run back to Walgreens. Specially due to the pharmacy. The attendants at W are kind, efficient, helpful, try to do all they can to help you get the best rate and most of all do not approach you as an inconvenience. At CVS, I get disciplined to stand back behind an invisible line and they just don't seem happy which is always a symptom of management. Front register people seem to always be on point and I haven't struggled to find what I come in for. Lastly, although I am tech savvy and have double checked my notifications online as to how to find out when my scripts are ready... still in the dark and a lot of going back and forth between dr offices and the pharmacy when refills are needed which caused a health issue for me recently. read more

I much prefer the other brand name chain pharmacy that Reno has to offer but this one was nearby some other things I was doing today. Local CVS I have seen it is a huge storm with many empty shelves. Makes me wonder how long they will be here. I had a nice walk searching for the three items that I needed. Found them and went to check out where I found that my CVS card have the wrong phone number on it so that all had to be done again. Since I was hungry when I entered the store I was not a happy camper that the stop was taking so long. Next time maybe I'll just drive To my favorite drugstore as it will probably save me time. read more

I am not one to leave poor reviews but we have experienced mistake after mistake at this CVS. I would NOT have chosen this pharmacy except that my insurance provider requires that we use CVS and this one is closest to my home. My daughter lives with a severe chronic illness. If I were unable to assist her with managing her medications through this particular pharmacy, their mistakes would have greatly impacted her health most likely resulting in hospitalization. On two previous occasions we waited ten days for them to order then reorder one of her most essential medications resulting in me having to reduce her medication for a few days while they resolved the errors (causing issues with her health) despite beginning the prescription renewal process several days in advance. Instead of receiving an apology the second time it happened, the tech nonchalantly said, "Oh well." We have since switched to a CVS across town despite the longer drive. By the way, I would give this CVS (MINUS the pharmacy) five stars as I have been happily patronizing the store for 25 years (when it was a Long's Drug Store) but the pharmacy gets only one star...if that. read more

Had some prints made and a custom card for Mother's Day, employees had me pay and gave me an envelope that didn't have the card inside, employees tell me that they forgot to make the card but was okay with me paying and walking out the store. Cool, thanks for sending me a confirmation email and having me wait another 30-45 mins after you let me walk out with only part of my purchase that you knew wasn't finished printing. Been here to fill prescriptions multiple times and have called in multiple times. Usually on hold for at least 10 minutes and always a long wait for prescriptions even when there is no line, twice they didn't full my prescription ever after I called in to have it filled and then told me it would be an hour wait. The last time I had received notification that the prescription was ready but when I arrived was told it hadn't been filled and that it would again be an hour wait. I told them that I was leaving town and couldn't wait an hour but that it was an antibiotic and I also couldn't go off of it for days. They said there was nothing that they could do and that it would still be an hour. I will never go back. Update: Tried to switch my prescriptions to Walgreens who called to ask CVS to fax them over. Five days later they still hadn't faxed them over, Walgreens called again and I had to call myself. After getting hung up on during the first attempt to talk to someone in the pharmacy I sat on hold for 8 minutes before getting through. read more

This review isn't about CVS in general (I love my local CVS), but it is about this particular location. I needed to refill a prescription here because I wasn't going to be home the day I needed it from my local CVS and I can run to this location on my lunch from my office. The prescription was supposed to be ready at noon, but when I didn't receive an alert for it, I called the store. They said they didn't have the refill request, but would take care of it by 3 PM regardless. I drove down after 3 PM and proceeded to wait for my prescription for over an hour. The staff wasn't very friendly and she was overwhelmed. Obviously based on past reviews, this location needs better training for their pharmacy employees as well as just more of them in general to alleviate these issues. The front of the store employees are fast and friendly, but because of the pharmacy issues that can be easily overlooked. I'll still visit this CVS when I need something from the front of the store, but I'm definitely going to stick with my CVS on Steamboat for any and all of my prescription needs. read more

I know this CVS is conveniently located, but to have the photo service person standing around texting while customers are waiting at the Photo counter is silly. Not only did she admonish me for not calling I one of the checkers to retrieve my order, she rudely handed me the photo order, told me to get in one of the check out lines, then opened the photo line, 'for then next person in line.' I can't believe how slow this place is! I switched all of my prescriptions here from the downtown Walgreens and think I may have been better off. They'll have 5 or 6 people in line just to drop off and nobody even comes out from the back. Then they have NOBODY in line and still say 45 minutes for 1 refill at 8:00 at night?! I was forced by my insurance to use this pharmacy for the past few years and I discovered the pharmacy is a nightmare. Never enough help, long waits, and slow moving employees who seem miserable because they have to assist customers. The one high point for the pharmacy was that it stayed open until 9 p.m. Recently, I began receiving text messages for a refill that, as other reviewers have stated, I did not need. I decided to brave the foul atmosphere of the place and pick up the refill. I arrived at 6:55 p.m. and fell into line behind a female patron (I had picked up another item to pay for at the pharmacy with my refill). As I entered the line, the female employee behind the counter was helping another customer. She immediately said to me, "I can't help you because we are closing." I looked at her and said, "Excuse me?" She said again with a churlish look on her face, "We are closing at 7. I can't help you." Unbeknownst to me the pharmacy had changed its hours to 7 p.m. closing starting in 2018. I acknowledged her comment and stepped out of line. The female in front of me (we were the only two waiting) apparently had been approved to continue by the employee because she did not budge. I was irritated because I looked at my phone and it was 6:57. I tossed the pain reliever box I had also wanted to pay for on a shelf as I moved to leave at which time a male employee said, "Thanks a lot sir...maybe you shouldn't come back in here." News flash brain surgeon....I wouldn't ever go into this miserable excuse for a business if I didn't have to do so. Luckily my insurance has discontinued requiring me to use CVS and I can now transfer my one remaining prescription to a legitimate business/pharmacy with employees who understand customer service. read more

I have not been very impressed with this CVS. The store is not very welcoming and is kind of cold. I go to this store often mainly because it's 3 blocks from the house. I have given this pharmacy many chances. I have yet to show up and have 1 prescription ready. You can call and the system will ask you what time you would like to pick it up, but when you arrive it's never ready. I recently went in after my doctor called it in, and they never bothered to call to say they were out. Gave them a extra day before returning, and they had re stocked it, but never bothered to fill it. I now need to return for a third attempt at a important prescription. I am over this place. Similar things have happened to my mother here as well in fact her doctors office has posted a sign in the office stating they will not work with cvs pharmacies. This is my local pharmacy and these girls and the few boys that work here are AMAZING!!! AMAZING!! I pick up prescriptions on a weekly basis here for my sister and mother. The thing that blows me away is how often I see these pharmacists get brutalized by people. It's mind blowing! Dealing with doctors, insurance companies, prescription company's and all kinds of legalities can be tough but these pharmacists are ALWAYS on their game ALWAYS working hard and fast....ALWAYS for us and.....almost ALWAYS have my prescriptions done within an hour especially when I need them and communicate that to them. I have yet to find a pharmacist that is as consistent with filling prescriptions within an hour and as nice as they are considering the brutality they must deal with daily as a result of so many legalities and procedures that are out of their control that people make them responsible for. This pharmacy has always had poor reviews but it was in the neighborhood and convenient so I thought how bad could it be? I should have listened to my fellow Yelpers. My granddaughter had an infected tooth, her dental provider stayed late to treat the tooth and give a script for antibiotics. I got to the Can't Value Service pharmacy on California Ave. 15 minutes before closing and "there was no line". I was amazed to be told by the pharmacy tech that they could not fill the script as they were finishing up the scripts they already had and the circumstances did not make any difference. I called the pharmacy early the next afternoon and the manager had left for the day but I was able to talk to the pharmacist who told me that was their policy and they had to complete all work since their registers were shut off and they could not work after posted closing. This made even less sense as the store is open for an additional three hours. Fortunately the near by Walgreens filled the prescription in three minutes. My take away from this experience. Trust the Yelp reviews and use a pharmacy that puts patients ahead of policy. read more

Tried to order a prescription refill through the CVS website. It said it worked but when I went into the pharmacy, they had not received the order. They said it was better to call it in. When I next had a prescription to be refilled, I called it in. The pharmacist asked me when I wanted to pick it up and I said the following day (I called around 1:30 PM). When I went to the pharmacy the following day at 2:30, it wasn't ready. I came back about 45 minutes later and picked it up. When I got home and opened the bottle, it looked like it was short. Sure enough, instead of 30 pills there were only 25. I'll be moving all my prescriptions to a non-CVS pharmacy. read more

While I would give the store employees a 5-star rating, I am writing this review specifically for the pharmacy. The majority of the staff (including the pharmacists and the pharmacy manager) fall into the categories of lazy, incompetent, rude, irresponsible, arrogant. I have been given the wrong medication on more than one occasion. Each time, the pharmacist has denied blame (even though filling the Rx should have been straightforward) and the pharmacy staff neglected his/her job by not informing me that I needed a consultation (which would have indicated a change to the Rx and would have tipped me off to something being wrong before I left the store). As if filling the wrong medication weren't bad enough, the pharmacists and staff have, on more than one occasion, told me that it was my responsibility to ensure my doctor was writing the correct information on the prescription. Here's the frustrating part ... I had had these particular medications filled through CVS regularly for years and never had a problem at other locations (Robb Drive and E. Plumb Lane). The scripts I brought in to the California Ave. location were written exactly the same as all the other scripts that had been filled correctly in the past! At any rate, I now go a little out of my way to E. Plumb Lane. The pharmacy and store staff are friendly, competent, responsible and go out of their way to help and, best of all, the pharmacists are professional and know what they're doing. read more

I have been using this pharmacy for years (at this point who knows why) and every time I am waiting in line for AT LEAST 10 minutes but on several occasions I have waited up to 45 minutes and then was told my prescription was still not ready so I should come back tomorrow! This is completely unacceptable for any prescription but for prescriptions that are on monthly refills, that is completely unprofessional and quite frankly disrespectful to the customer.
