Kind of a weird Walgreens. Seeing the building from the outside, without knowing it's a Walgreens, you'd think it's something special, like a mini stadium or something. They have a fully painted parking lot, which is something I've never seen, bars preventing large vehicles from entering, and the architecture of the building itself is out there. It also looks from the outside that it's the largest Walgreens in history. However, when you walk in, it's exactly what you expect from a typical Walgreens, which isn't a bad thing. read more

Ten years later, I feel the need to update my review. And Yep, I still come here. LOCATION: It is close, it is walkable and the light sequence at the intersection has been improved. I have only been almost squished about 3 times in the last 10 years. Not bad for Reno. CONVENIENCE: They are no longer open 24 Hours. The Pharmacy window is only open 9:00am to 8pm with a half hour closure for lunch. The rest of the store still cares a huge collection of stuff. Items that apparently are "shoplifting magnets" ie most beauty products are now in locked shelves. ATMOSPHERE There seem to be fewer "dodgy" patrons than in the past. Shelves are better displayed and don't seem as cramed. It is clean and well lit. SERVICE: Still pretty slow, and staff has been drastically reduced. I have had no problems with either the pharmacy or the front checkout, it just takes a while. On the plus side, staff are friendly and professional. My insurance no longer covers prescriptions from Walgreens. I just learned that Walgreens is not affiliated with the large third-party Pharmacy Benefit Manager. So the convenience and location have been major factors in me continuing to shop here. read more

What a God send a 7 x 24 drugstore when you need to get stuff. I need to get something for my foot. They had everything I needed. Well let clean, nice checkout experience not everything was locked up, which was nice compared to other shops that I've been to in the region so definitely a Oasis in the city to take care of any last-minute needs eats or over-the-counter remedies. read more

This location has a drive up pharmacy pick up which used to have 2 lanes but is one now. Unfortunately serving the Reno customers has become challenging for this store. Wait for this location if you want to pick up your prescriptions today was OVER an HoUR! It's typically 15-30 for drivers thru pick ups. Not sure why but they are failing. Inside was no better. Calls to them don't get picked up. Not sure there's a store manager onsite? read more

Came here to pick up some toiletries while visiting. The parking lot looked very rough. Surprising or maybe not so surprising it looks like that being one block away from the university. Though the outside looked rough, the inside was clean and organized. The cashier was the kindest person ever. Moral of the story: don't judge a book by its cover. read more

My husband and I have been sitting in the drive thru pharmacy line for almost an hour now. They have one poor person working here. It's unacceptable. This was my last stop in Reno before hitting the highway!! This Walgreens is literally right over Interstate 80, so we made a quick pit stop here before heading home. I really needed some sunglasses for the drive home, and I know Walgreens always has a good selection of sunglasses available. Store manager and lead pharmacist both admitted they've had similar problems with her in the past. Pharmacy is garbage. After multiple conversations about filling my prescription at a certain time I wait in line for way too long while the employee talked to someone about slippers at the pharmacy counter, only to be turned away and told I'd have to wait for 3 hours to get my meds. Never going back to this place. Not to mention I stepped over puke in the parking lot, the employees look strung out and it smells like cigarettes inside the building. I love this Walgreens. Yeah sure the parking lot is getting worked on but I would hope that means better parking. Apart from that, the business itself helps me, my friends, and family on the daily. I will need to find out their names , but there are 2 individuals who have even taken the time to remember my name and parts of my life and whenever I see them they treat me like a long time friend. The pharmacy gets me what I need, so I can't complain about what goes on behind the scenes simply because I don't know what goes on behind the scenes and I'm sure it isn't easy. Overall I greatly appreciate having this Walgreens here. Without being in the location they have to be in , they would not have had to deal with all the crazy things they've dealt with, but me and many others are thankful they have. read more

Every time I go to the pharmacy here they seem frazzled, disorganized, overworked and almost mad that you're there. Corporate needs to give them more employees. Also I got to the driver thru and they told me it would be 30-40 mins before my prescriptions were ready. Then they missed putting one in and I have to drive back sick as a dog. Furthermore, dropped off prescription when at least three people were working in the pharmacy and we were told it would be close to one hour to get it filled, which would have been a major inconvenience, but as I write while standing in line to pick up the prescription (which I am HOPING is ready, but the only way to check on it is, you guessed it, to stand in line to ask), it has been THREE HOURS, and there are still four people in line ahead of me. I should have been able to pick up the prescription two hours ago. This is appalling customer "service". To add insult to injury, there is hardly any seating for those waiting. And those who opt to sit risk losing their place in line. Will update when this saga concludes. One thing is certain: I'll never come here again. Their prices are exorbitantly expensive. So I will also warn anyone to stay away and shop somewhere else for any drugstore items you may need. Update: After an additional THIRTY MINUTES in line, it was our turn. Still had to wait for the employee to fill the prescription. Shame on you, walgreens, for not having more staff in the pharmacy. literally the worst pharmacy I've ever been to. My insurance is for Walgreens and I might spend the extra $200 a month to switch because I want to rip out my hair everytime I come to pick up my prescription. Ugh. Urgent care sent in a prescription because this is one of the rare pharmacies open after hours. Trouble is upon arrival in the drive up window in this very bad neighborhood I was told there was a 1.5 hour wait for filling my script. Now next day I can't get a live person to pick up the phone to transfer it to a store close to my home. 25 minutes on hold already. This Walgreens is easily the most convenient simply because it's open 24/7 , so when you're on your way home from the club you can stop and get Electrolytes and ice cream. I would say it has some of the worst staff known to man. Whenever I go to the pharmacy, the pharmacy tech refuses, adamantly refuses, to help me by placing my purchased items in a bag. I'm usually stuck walking out with 8 things in my arms, and the staff in front STILL questions me as to why I don't have a bag (questioning if I am REALLY a paying customer or not). Im still a bit confused as to why they have bags behind the pharmacy counter at all. The visit that invoked this review was my normal trip, got the same things, same card, but the pharmacy tech was new. She was ON EDGE. All the items that I usually purchase are tiny, dropped easily, or in large boxes/packages, making them ALL a bit hard to carry without dropping one of the other So, like any other sane and normal person, I asked the pharmacist for a bag, because they have bags... i could see the bags and pointed.. She said I wasn't allowed one from the pharmacy - and she continued on, telling me that it was only because I could steal something, hiding it in the plastic bag. I had a GIGANTIC purse they would've fit 10x more than the plastic bag. Also, worth mentioning that I paid with a $20 bill.. she checked it to make sure it was real... l was worried they this girl REALLY thought that I would hand her a counterfeit 20, as well as STEAL random items on my way to the door (via the plastic bag ) Anyway , the girl turned around and I reached over the counter and grabbed a bag from behind the counter... The tech, holding a letter opener (knife), grabbed my wrist and snatched the bag right out of my hand. From this moment I walked up with my groceries and got my prescriptions, the girl was firmly grasping a letter opener (knife) the ENTIRE time. At one point, she was even waving it around to make it apparent how angry she was and how aggressive she could get. I reminded her that she was at work, at a pharmacy, and that she was very close to insulting me, by simply making judgments and assumptions. I then called the pharmacy to talk to the manager (of the pharmacy). I have a feeling the staff knew exactly who I was, so they gave me to somebody who may not have even been a manager. I was advised to call back a different day, a day that the manager would be there.. To recap and summarize: the only reason I choose to go to this Walgreens is simply because it's open 24 hours and I occasionally only have time to run this errand later at night. But, after a 20-minute wait, they said "oh, sorry, we don't have that ready yet. Just wait another 10 minutes". The service at this location is horrible. I know there are labor shortages, but when you have to budget nearly an hour to pick up a prescription -- well, that's not good. Our insurance requires that we use Walgreens. Bummer. read more

I keep thinking: - Is it structurally sound? - Will it collapse on the freeway below? - How'd they build this? - This is pretty cool! - Why do I always forget my toothbrush every time we come to Reno? This pharmacy is horrible. Their drive up window is horrific. I waited for 30 minutes for two cars to go through, then waiting at the window for 30 minutes for them to tell me to circle back around. The line had 5 cars in it. So I circled back around and waited. They close at 10:00pm and it was 9:25pm when I was told to circle back around. When I got to the window they were closed. I told the gal at the window they would be closed if I circled back around, but she insisted and kept saying it shouldn't take that long. We went without the antibiotics cause we were leaving town. Had to call the dr and have them send them somewhere else. Do not waste your time at this pharmacy. Customer services is horrible. They don't know how to run insurance. Waste of time!!!! read more

Walgreens always offers an amazingly robust collection of products. It's amazing the types of items you can buy! Plus, the deals (combined with their rewards program) make it very affordable. The service at this location was terrific! Despite being very busy, the staff provided individual assistance and quick checkout. One of the employees helped me find a thermometer. As I compared prices, she suggested I buy the name brand option instead of their generic version because she'd heard it was more reliable even though most of the generic products are equal in quality. I was grateful and impressed with her honesty. I will frequent this store in the future. read more

The customer service needs a serious revamp, ESPECIALLY in the pharmacy department. The sales associates seem to care more about the people inside than those at the drive through. If you plan I picking up your prescriptions in your car, plan for a good half hour wait. It's much easier to park and go in. The majority of the time the second lane doesn't work. You have to wait in the first line and holler through the drawer. This is the closest pharmacy to my house. Unfortunately it's most convenient and I highly dislike coming here. As far as customer service inside, they are slightly better but the cashiers seem to be a little slower than most and don't realize that some of us come in on lunches, or end of the day and we just wanna get home. This is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I live nearby so I really really tried to make it work but now I see that even going miles out of my way is better than going here. Literally they can not even take your name or number down without messing it up, and asking for it again 5 times. They mess up the prescriptions constantly probably because they spend 10minutes trying to figure out how to spell a name you are slowly repeating to them one letter at a time and appear to be high. read more

If this place weren't next to a college campus, it would be out of business. The pharmacists seem competent, but they're overworked and too rushed to be helpful. The speaker system at the drive through has been broken literally for years, so you have to wait for someone inside to notice you, and then you can't communicate over the freeway noise. The non-pharmacist staff seems poorly trained and has made no attempt to be helpful with even basic questions. On top of that, while the store itself is clean, the parking lot is dirty, unmarked and in poor repair. For a national chain, this store is a disgrace. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, I came in at about 0700 today and it was a mess. The night shift didn't seem to do a damn thing. There were two people sitting on the register counter who appeared to be there keeping the actual store clerk company talking about murders. The clerk himself had his phone out and ear phones in. I waited at the counter for a good 30 seconds looking at him waiting for him to put his fucking phone down. No greeting, no words at all. WALGREENS PHARMACY on N. Virginia. WORST customer service EVER! The automated robot says one caller ahead of you, then when it's your turn they pick up the phone and say very quickly "hold a moment" and place you on hold. Then they continue doing that for 15-20 minutes! You can't even get a word in! I absolutely can't stand their pharmacy! We've been using Wal-Mart on 2nd St for the last 7 years because of how friendly and convenient they are. Unfortunately tho, with Wal-Mart refusing to fill any opioid prescriptions, Walgreens is the next closest place on the bus line for me to get my pain prescriptions. Idk tho.... BEWARE of Walgreens Pharmacy! CHECK YOUR MEDICATION BEFORE LEAVING! I have used Walgreens Pharmacy for quite some time now, mainly because I didn't know where else to go as a new resident of NV. While I haven't really had any significant problems in the past, my most recent experience with their pharmacy renders that a moot point. I recently had a surgical procedure performed for which an opiate pain medication was prescribed. It never occurred to me to check or count my pills, I automatically trusted that I received the correct medication. Turns out, several of my pain medication tablets were switched out with aspirin. I don't think I have ever purchased aspirin a day in my life, so the screwup was definitely not on my end. Further, no one has access to my medication aside from me. Once I discovered this error, I immediately contacted the pharmacy to report it. The first woman with whom I spoke, May, was extremely rude and refused to believe that pills could be switched. May told me that "human error is impossible," and essentially accused me of lying. When I informed May that I was a doctor and I know for a fact that human error is possible, she hung up on me/transferred me to the pharmacist, Rachel. Fortunately, Rachel, the pharmacist at Walgreens was much more pleasant to speak to and at least humored my complaint. I told her there was absolutely no way this mixup occurred on my end, and that what happened is extremely serious. I'm a doctor, not an MD, but I know that taking aspirin before surgery may result in serious implications. Fortunately, my surgery went well, but not only was I out several pain tablets, I was also made out to look like a drug-seeker when I returned to the ER and had no medication left. Rachel stated that an investigation would be taking place, and that she needed to "follow the bottle," which I hope is taking place as we speak. If this isn't resolved at this level, I will be reporting this to the DEA. There is something shady going on with this pharmacy, and both the authorities and the public should be aware that they may not be receiving the correct number or type of medication their scripts indicate. If you decide to continue using this pharmacy, please COUNT/CHECK your medication prior to leaving the store. Regardless of what their investigation turns up, I will not be returning to this pharmacy in the future, they have lost my trust. Thank you for reading. read more
