I sat for 30 minutes to pick up a rx waiting for one car to do a COVID test. What's wrong with this picture???

Today my wife had urinary infection and had the doc called into this CVS pharmacy on Steamboat Pkwy, for a very common anti-biotics called cephalexin 250mg. After two hours of waiting and multiple calls to them, I could not get anyone there to even answer my phone. Finally my wife drove to the CVS to inquire; they told my wife they did not have the ant-biotics the doc ordered (but did not bother to call us) and they would sent the prescription to Damonte Ranch CVS. So they sent my wife on her way to CVS at Damonte Ranch, promising to transfer the med asap. No transfer by this CVS to the other CVS when my wife got there either. So she waited and waited to allow Damonte Ranch CVS to get the transfer. They could not get the Steamboat CVS to answer the phone either! After hours of waiting, she had to go back to Steamboat CVS to ask them why. Now they told her they had the med after all, but it was on hold. She told them the hold must be for her. But they refused to release the hold and told her to go back to Damonte Ranch CVS! She cam back home empty-handed. Meanwhile, no call from Damonte Ranch CVS to my wife either, despite leaving her cell and home #s with them. As a test, I called another CVS to see if they also did not want to pick up the phone. The phone ran for about 15 minutes before someone answered. The guy apologized to me profusely and told me that as a whole, CVS management simply under-staffed people to the extreme, to make more money. He advised me NOT to use CVS at all. Instead, he told me the best places to go would be pharmacies at supermarkets because they have to attract grocery customers and could not under-staff the pharmacy. I have been to a lot of pharmacies, this is the worst. I place the blame squarely on CVS coporate, not the woker bees. If you work people that hard, even the best of them become numb and don't care any more. The end result was what we went thru. read more

This is the worst pharmacy in Reno. They filled a prescription they should have known had conflicts with a similar type of prescription, even after discussing the conflict, so essentially doubling up. When I went back to return the one they should not have filled, they refused to acknowledge their error. read more

I've had more trouble with this pharmacy over the last three years since I've moved to Reno. I finally transferred all my Scripps out and I'm having them delivered. the manager is awful and Doesn't care about her clients and there's new staff all the time which I like but don't stay. I had time to kill before an appointment, so I popped in here because you can ALWAYS find something to buy at a drugstore. Staff were very friendly as they were busy stocking shelves and moving merchandise around. I went to see what was on sale and they had 25% off summer gear, so I ended up purchasing one of those solar shades to plop over your beach chair. I also picked up, randomly, a sympathy card, a one dollar collection of memo pads (I constantly write lists) and a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup package on sale for 88 cents. Don't judge. I don't shop often enough at CVS to see much benefits with using their store card, but I give them it anyway, just in case. read more

This is not the CVS where I fill my prescriptions but I needed a flu shot. We stopped in at a time that was quite busy so they asked if we would mind returning a few hours later. Luckily I left the evening open so I was able to return. We did a bit of the paperwork before leaving so when we came back it would be a bit faster. When we returned they were nice enough to complete the paperwork quickly. We only waited a short time before the pharmacist was able to administer our flu shots. They are always busy here, much like every CVS in the area, but their customer service can be off putting. This time their customer service was kind and friendly and we were satisfied with the experience. I will not transfer my prescriptions here anytime soon but it's nice to have a pharmacy close by for last minute needs. read more

The wait at the pharmacy is always long, but today was very frustrating. I scheduled my flu shot weeks ago. Checked in on line and after 20 minutes of waiting I decided to try in a different location. While waiting there were 4 other people who were unable to get answers. I realize they are understaffed but they need to not schedule appointments if they cant professionally take care of people. read more

First I want to acknowledge that the pharmacy manager was very polite and did the best she could to be customer-centric, polite and empathetic. However, the issue I had was that CVS advertised that flu shots were available with an appointment. However they were not, after bringing my family in for them. I was not called and advised of this before-hand. The tech was argumentative, defensive and not understanding of this issue. Her advice was to simply go to another store and redo the appointments altogether. This seems redundant and counterintuitive to their store advertising. I recommend that CVS get a better process in place and have better suggestions for their customers when they advertise flu shots with appt. They should also not be defensive--stating they called when in fact they did not. read more

It has a drive through. It's a Pharmacy. The people are always pleasant when I go get my meds. What more can I say? I just loved the way that the florescent lighting accents the sturdy carpet color? It's a nice clean place with plenty of parking in a nice safe location. read more

The drivethru seems to always be closed, and even when you catch it open you might as well head over to McDonald's and grab a snack because they're slow...transferred all my medications elsewhere.. read more

No Stars. The absolute worst. Told my prescription had to be ordered. When I called to see if it had come in they told me I had no prescription on file. Another time went to pick up 2 prescriptions they only had one. Tech snapped at me when I attempted to spell my name like I was a child. Never again. I have used the CVS Steamboat location for years and the service in their pharmacy has progressively gotten worse. There are a couple of workers running around and doing their best to help customers and this is the only reason I even gave the pharmacy two stars. The Pharmacist stood around doing not much of anything as the phone was ringing off the hook. Never bothered to help out the other workers and moved literally like a snail, like she could care less what the others were dealing with. Two customers in a row, their prescriptions were misfiled so the workers were searching every bin to try to find them which delayed everyone else. My prescription that was called in by my doctor for a severe case of bronchitis was not filled for two days. So no inhaler or antibiotics. They need to get rid of this pharmacist and replace with someone who will help the team and lead when necessary. I will be moving my service to Safeway, right down the street. read more

I've seen this location get a lot of negative posts from people on social media, but that hasn't been my experience. I have trouble walking so I always use the drive-thru, and the staff have always been great. Today, a special shout out to Sierra who went the extra mile to help me with my prescription. It's impossible to get someone in the pharmacy on the phone. I wasted an hour of my life trying just to speak with someone. The phone system is messed up and loops around. Once you finally get transferred to the pharmacy you will sit on hold until you decide you've wasted enough of your life and give up. Incredibly slow! The drive thru pharmacy averages 10 minutes per car. Be prepared to sit in your car and wait. And wait. And wait.0

I think this pharmacy should hire more people, it's always crowded and I'm always on hold for 15 or more minutes when I call them.

I could order my prescriptions via mail but I so enjoy seeing the personnel and their help that I go into the store to pick up my drugs. Ana is most helpful. She has been there the longest. read more

My experiences at this pharmacy are lukewarm. The pharmacy staff is never that friendly and the man at the counter today was wearing a beanie (not terribly professional) and, again, not very friendly. He proceeded to tell me it was going to take 1-2 days to fulfill the Rx as they were very busy. I explained that the medication was for an injury and I was needing it so I could get back to work. He then told me they 'might' be able to get in by 8pm that night (5 hours after it was sent in from the provider) or he could forward it to another CVS. I requested the latter and the Rx was ready within 40 minutes of my arrival. I recognize that healthcare is understaffed (I too work in an unstaffed healthcare setting) but the fact that I was told 3 different time frames for the time that the medication might be ready is concerning. Also, he never apologized for the inconvenience, just told me it was sent over and proceeded to the next customer. Ugh! Not sure what's to be done but this CVS might need some customer service training. read more

First of all this review is about the CVS on Steamboat Parkway South a Reno to say that this pharmacy staff is rude and unprofessional is an understatement display should be closed down and put out of business as you can tell from prior reviews many people agree with me just one example wife went to get medication in person because he refused to answer the phone three times she was told medication was not ready on the fourth time she insisted to talk to the pharmacist which found the medication immediately a medication was there all the time no apologies no nothing the staff there is untrained unprofessional and very very rude don't go there don't ever go there and from what I understand all CVS pharmacies in Reno are the same close it down read more

My review is primarily feedback about CVS Drive thru test. They lost my test! I did a drive thru Virus test. They lost my cOVIT test! My insurance confirmed that they paid for the test - I did the test. CVS cannot find my test. I had another test done by a family member a couple days later and they got their results within 1 day. The person I spoke to at CVS said that either they or Quest labs lost my test. That is very disturbing to me. There is only a 1866 number to call and you don't get a live person just voicemail hell! If they lost my test they should have told me immediately! Within 24 hrs! Communication is important. read more

Went in to buy a frozen pizza for dinner. Got home and realized it went out of date FEB 2017. The lines at the register were backed up as well. I will not be going back to this CVS. Quite alarming the food is out of date. read more

Even though this pharmacy is close to my house I am not sure that it's worth it. Every time I call in a prescription I set the time I show up and it's never ready I have to sit and wait I have to come back an hour later I have to drive around the parking lot one more lap I am so disappointed in the service at the CVS I know the people try hard and maybe they're shorthanded or shortstaffed I don't know what the excuse is but I'm honestly thinking about changing to a different pharmacy. read more

Staff is nice, overall. Wait times are pretty long most of the time. But the worst thing is that they CVS has declared they will not provide hypodermic needles without a prescription - and Nevada State Law permits the sale of syringes without a prescription. We needed this medical equipment for a prescription at a different pharmacy that was out of state. CVS is not a compounding pharmacy, so clearly we could not have the prescription with them. We ran low and needed some to tide us over. This draconian, irrational policy runs counter to the letter and intent of Nevada State Law. We went to another pharmacy who was happy to help us out (Walmart). It is really obnoxious that these pharmacists make arbitrary decisions about our health that are none of their business. They are not doctors and they should not be deciding which patients are allowed access to the medical equipment they need. read more

I have used this pharmacy several times over the years and had average service until today. My only problem before was with them announcing my medications out loud. Not a huge problem but I would hope that they would respect my privacy as well as everyone else's, as I would hope this is policy. When I went to get my medications today in order to manage my pain from just having had dental surgery, the drive through register had informed me that my insurance card was expired. I told her that I had insurance through the state and if she'd just call the number for me (on the card), then she'd easily be able to verify my insurance. I told her that it hurts for me to talk and other pharmacists have accommodated me in the past the same way. She said that I have a 2 hour wait and I can just have my insurance call them. Mind you she didn't write down the pharmacy number for me while giving me a major attitude with dirty looks the entire time. I then asked her if I could get my scripts back so that I may afford someone else the chance to earn my business. I then went to Smith's pharmacy up the road. When I got to Smith's they were more than helpful and very accommodating. They easily verified my insurance and had my prescriptions ready in about 20 minutes. I was so relieved and grateful that I was taken care of and treated in a courteous manner. I will not be going back to the CVS pharmacy on Steamboat Parkway. read more

This is the absolute WORST pharmacy I've ever given my business to!! Never again will I even step foot in this store. I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but this place is outstandingly HORRIBLE! Please believe the bad reviews! The techs and the pharmacists are completely uncaring and unwilling to help. My daughter had surgery early this morning and when I showed up for her pain meds at 10 AM they told me there was a problem with the dosing and the doctor would have to resubmit it. I was happy they caught the mistake, but when the doctor got right back to them within the hour, the pharmacy told me that her prescription would have to go to the end of the line and wouldn't be ready for pickup until 3 PM. When I explained to them that she was in horrible pain and waiting for her medication, they did not care and told me no way could they get to it till 3 PM, and they couldn't transfer it somewhere else because it was a narcotic. At 4 PM, after watching my kid suffer in extreme pain for several hours, and still not having heard from CVS that her meds were ready, I went back down there to see if I could get them. A different, but no less uncaring tech, tells me that it's now not going to be ready until tomorrow! My daughter has been at home crying in pain for hours and the pharmacist can hear me plead with the tech to fill it tonight. They offer no help, no sympathy, no solutions. Just a cold and apathetic....NO. Luckily, I was able to get back ahold of my doctor and he was able to instead send it to Safeway, located in the same shopping center. Right as soon as I get the confirmation from my doctor and pull up to Safeway to wait for the prescription, I get the call from CVS that her prescription is ready! With smoke steaming out of my head I walk into Safeway, and oh how I wish I had started there! Only a 20 minute wait and wonderful and kind staff. If you want to keep your sanity, please skip the CVS Steamboat experience! I transferred records for my entire family to Safeway's pharmacy. NEVER AGAIN CVS!!! read more

Not much to review when you're passing through the Pharmacy drive-thru, picking up scripts for your hubby. The pharmacist was kind and professional. She noted that one of the scripts was new and asked me if I wanted to add it to the auto-fill. She also inquired about my info so I could receive the benefits of the rewards program. And then she bid me to have a good day, with a smile. Short, sweet, and simple. I'll be back next month for the refills. read more

The worst pharmacy I have ever tried to use. I never leave bad reviews as I was a business owner myself and understand that bad days happen. That being said, I find myself walking in at this point on edge and ready for an argument. The customer service here is inconsistent and unimpressive. It is slow, the notifications are wrong and they are CONSTANTLY understaffed. I am switching immediately, tired of voicing my complaints and hearing others do the same. No. The answer is no. Go to a different location. This one sucks. My daughters pediatricians office faxed her prescription at 11am. I call CVS at 2 bc I still haven't heard from them...uh we haven't received it and I said they sent it at 11. Then MIRACULOUSLY she finds it. She says "it will be ready in 30 minutes" awesome! Me thinks NOT! 40 minutes later my hubby goes to pick it up and then he comes back without it...he said they said they would call. Then my phone rings.
