One-star review from a healthcare provider. Absolutely appalled by the conduct and complete lack of professionalism displayed by this pharmacy and specifically by the pharmacy manager, Lenah Amayreh. I spent HOURS attempting to resolve an urgent medication issue for a patient who was actively without medication and experiencing delayed access to medically necessary treatment. Instead of collaboration or basic professional communication, I encountered repeated holds, repeated disconnections/hang-ups, refusal to provide identifying information, refusal to provide a pharmacist license number when requested for documentation purposes, and refusal to meaningfully assist in resolving the issue. When I asked Lenah for her name, she responded by sarcastically asking me "if I knew how to spell." When attempting to clarify which medication dosages were covered so that I could prevent interruption in treatment for my patient, I was told to "do the math" myself. This is beyond inappropriate. It is arrogant, dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable behavior toward a prescribing provider attempting to prevent interruption of patient care. The level of hostility and obstruction encountered during this interaction was shocking. Despite HOURS spent attempting to resolve the issue, the pharmacy STILL failed to appropriately resolve the prescription issue, forcing me to transfer the patient's prescriptions elsewhere in order to prevent further disruption in care. Healthcare providers and pharmacies are supposed to work collaboratively to protect patient safety and continuity of treatment. Instead, this pharmacy created unnecessary barriers, delayed care, obstructed communication, and demonstrated an alarming lack of accountability and professionalism. This matter will be escalated to corporate leadership, the ethics/compliance line, and the California Board of Pharmacy for review. I will also no longer be directing patients to this location and will instead recommend pharmacies that understand the seriousness of patient care, provider communication, and professional conduct. read more

Was in the neighborhood gym and Juice store and stopped by Poway CVS to make an appt for COVID ( PCP did not have COVID, just got the flu at PCP office 2 weeks prior) Cyira Hayes had a welcoming smile and great interaction w me as a customer, that I did not need to make as appointment, just fill up and sign forms for pharmacist for my vaccine. Sam, pharmacist checked and verified info and gave me my COVID shot. Very pleasant experience from these employees who gave excellent customer service.! read more

This pharmacist Ken who turned out to be the supervisor does not know how to listen. He kept interrupting me, always in his terms even on just giving a patient's name. Had to interrupt him back due to my 1 year old daughter who needed the antibiotic right away and requested if he can urgently prep the medication. Ken said: "You're the highest priority," put me on the side then proceeded to help two white customers behind me and he was very nice to them. read more

Poway CVS is by far the worst pharmacy I've ever used. Their automated systems are complete garbage. I placed an order online and received a confirmation text, but never received a notification that my prescription was ready. When I called I was greeted by a virtual assistant who could not have been more unhelpful. I wasted 30 minutes trying to speak to a real person and when the AI finally said it would transfer me, it took me straight to voicemail. I decided to try and speak to someone in person at the store and the staff was almost as unhelpful as the AI. I was told that even though I had received a comfirmation that they had no record of my order in their system. I then had to wait another 30 minutes for my prescription to be filled. While waiting I heard several people facing the exact same issue as me. A male staff member asked someone for their name 4 or 5 times because he wasn't listening and laughed at the customers face when he began voicing concerns about his prescription. I also witnessed a female pharmacist get into a shouting match with a man questioning the specifics of his prescription, loudly shaming him for his reaction to her action(or lack thereof). My wait for my prescription was a very unpleasant 30 minutes. I'm usually a patient person, but what upsets me the most is that older people have to deal with this kind of service. Had I waited too long to call, I would have probably needed to visit the ER because of the barriers I had to face. Im confident that my parents and grandparents would not have navigated these barriers successfully, and it concerns me that this store serves a good portion of the greater Poway area. This cvs is walking distance from my home, but I will be driving to further pharmacies moving forward and I strongly suggest others do the same. read more

Had the most unpleasant, distasteful experience with an assistant at the pharmacy named Ferial/Farial. It was borderline racist/xenophobic as well. She was being extremely kind and pleasant to the person ahead of me (who, was in fact a Caucasian woman) I myself am a woman of color with a very ethnic last name. The second that Ferial heard my last name her smile turned upside down. She threw the bag of medicine at me. I was extremely kind and cordial and thanked her for the bare minimum and would get no response to my pleasantries. It just makes me feel very small when the woman in front of me (who was giving her a much harder time, never said thank you once) had such a pleasant experience. When I go out of my way to be kind and it is met with nothing but coldness and disrespect, it leads to a very horrible, easily preventable experience. read more

Very disrespectful on the phone. she kept putting me on hold and doing other things while "trying" to help me on the phone. she had asked for the patients DOB twice when I had already given it to her (clearly) was not paying attention. I told her, are you going to help me? or are you going to keep putting me on hold ? she said that i was wasting my time and her time because there was nothing that she can do for the patient. I told her instead of putting me on hold consistently why couldn't you tell me that to begin with so I DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. Poway CVS pharmacy just recently remodeled and it looks brighter, open, and cleaner. The windows are clearly labeled with dropped off, pick up, and consultation. The right side is designated for the Minute Clinic and there are a few chairs spaced apart for waiting area. The service is hit or missed depending on who you get and what time of day. I called to place a refill rx and they had it ready same day. They use texting feature to communicate to remind you to refill, when pick up is ready, and any delays. read more

The manager at the CVS pharmacy is a joke. The way that she interacts with people is by not allowing the other party to finish any of the statements they are making. She speaks over you and doesn't allow you to ask a question or impose a statement; his includes conversations with her in person and over the phone. I called to make an order over the phone one day and was trying to ask a simple question about the pharmacy policy. I never asked that question though because she would not let me finish one sentence without assuming what I was going to say, and then answering her own speculation. Ridiculous. At one point I just quickly asked to speak with the manager which shocked her for a minute. She finally paused long enough to gather herself and said "OK, wait." I waited, and waited some more...No follow through. After 10 more minutes of waiting, she hung up. Considering how rude she was, I went to the store to speak to the manager about that pathetic customer service. I asked a last for the manager, she identified herself as that. I started to explain the scenario, she kept interrupting. I finally just called her out and told her that was impolite and very poor PR for such a company that should be all ears, especially when medication is involved. Again, she kept dodging the root of the problem and did the most plastic apology imaginable. I hope someone that is above her reads this and instructs her on how to not treat someone like a waste of time and actually heed advice and truly own up to mistakes. This pharmacy is awful! I work for a doctor's office and i had a patient who was crying hysterically because this pharmacy wouldn't release her medications to her. I called myself to find out the reason and it happened to be 4:50pm when we close at 5pm and the pharmacist who worked that time on 2/26/24 told me she will help me in 30 minutes. I explained we close in 10 Minutes is there any way you can help me quickly in why you can't release these medications to this patient? She said no, I'll help you in 30 minutes... i asked for her name and pharmacy manager and she hung up on me. Horrible service !!! Waited for a hour and 20 mins on my prescription that apparently my medical did not cover because I also have another insurance which is ridiculous. They need to get someone from corporate out here to revise the whole staff and business especially when sick patients are just trying to get their medication. Doctor sent the script. CVS texted the wife there was a problem. We called the doc. They said to call the pharmacy. CVS machine said the script would be ready by 545. I went 645pm. They were talking off the side and ignored me waiting until even the pharmacist told them there was a pick-up twice. The girl pointed me over to the tech who needed me to give wife's date of birth three times before saying they're out of the med. Walked off. Last time I was here, they expedited some other guys meds and told me to wait while they serve him... I've never had them pull me through the line for help and I've waited most every time I came to pick up meds. This pharmacy is terrible. The entire staff here is disorganized and the supervisors and pharmacists are incredibly rude. I fought with them for 3 days about getting my medication for a kidney infection and then when I was finally in so much pain that I was vomiting I asked them to send it to Walmart. They hung up the phone on me and had an awful attitude when I told them it couldn't wait until the next day. I was as nice as possible and it took them less than ten minutes to get it done once I finally went in there to have them do it. The whole thing was a headache and a mess. read more

Awful experience with pharmacist...I just needed Rx transferred from my home pharmacy in NY as I was short a couple days medication...unable /unwilling to do it...put me on hold several times for 12 min and finally 3rd time I was disconnected. They sent a text saying they were filling the prescription. I went in to pick it up, they said they would need another 30 mins. I walked around for 45 mins and came back. They said it was going to be another 30 mins! Meanwhile they are answering phone calls and chatting with people rather than actually filling prescriptions. Poorly staffed and poorly managed. My girlfriend and I went into your store in Poway/Pomerado. My girlfriend bought 2 packets of paper rolls. The manager Eric takes it from her and says there is a limit of 1 per household. I let him know we don't live together and we are not 1 household. Eric calls the police on me. 1 lady in line even offered to buy it for me. I replied I will wait in line and get it myself. Meanwhile he is on the phone with the police. I have owned and managed businesses in SD for over 30 years. If I had time to wait for the police, they would have allowed me to purchase it, because we are 2 different people with 2 different addresses. Ew. For starters, the "Minute Clinic" is not quick. At all. You can only "schedule" after the closet... sorry, "clinic" is actually open. You cannot schedule at all, actually. You basically have to go there and check in and wait for as long as it takes. And someone can jump in front of you if you're not standing right there. Luckily my vaccination went quick. The physician was professional. But my big beef is the friggen' hygiene of the rest of the building. It's no secret this place is using prime real estate on Poway Road. Clean your doors! Worst service ever from a pharmacy. I made an appointment online for a Covid booster. I arrived on time and checked in online before entering the store. The first person who approached me had absolutely no idea what to do, so had to call over the pharmacist. The pharmacist told me I'd have to wait 15 minutes since they needed to warm up the vaccine. I had an appointment, they should have had the vaccine ready. After waiting about 25 minutes I went back to the counter. The pharmacist went "Oh!" Like he had totally forgotten me. About 10 minutes later he called me into the inoculation room, where it became apparent he'd forgotten the vaccine, so another delay. Finally, after 50 minutes, I got the shot., which took all of two seconds. I definitely won't be using this pharmacy again. read more

Stopped in at Minute Clinic today to get a toe injury checked out. I had been cleansing the wound and keeping fresh ointment and gauze on it but wanted to be sure there was no infection. Sign-in was very quick and there was no wait to be seen. Tracy the NP on duty was very nice and thorough in taking my vitals and also looking at my wound. Answered all my questions, tolerated my dry sense of humor and got me out of there with a clean, freshly bandaged wound and a prescription for antibiotics in a very timely fashioned. This is what honest healthcare should be like. In, out and inexpensive. Not all the expense, politics, potential tax implications and fluff that were forced to pay for as Americans. I had a prescription that is not covered by my insurance. I had it filled the first time at the Pharmacy in my Dr's offfice complex Sharp Reese Stealy in RB; The cost was $27.00 for 30 pills. When I needed a refill, I asked my Dr. to send the prescription to CVS on Poway Rd. The Pharmacy Tech was nice enough to call me and advise that the medication is not covered by my insurance and the cost was $300.00. HOW CAN that be, I just paid $27.00 for it. So of course, I took the refill back to Sharp Pharmacy and this time I paid $25.00 for it. So, giving CVS the benefit of the doubt, I took the prescription bottle back to them (I wanted to be sure we were talking the EXACT same medication, both the generic pill) and asked hhat they quote me a refill of 30 pills...yep, Still $300.00. I asked the Pharmacy Tech how that could be and she told me that CVS is one of the most expensive places to get medications. I said, "so you are basically telling me not to shop here"!!! She just smiled, rather sheepishly. wI went to the front of the store and asked to speak to the Manager, but she was in a meeting so I discussed the situation with one of the ladies behind the counter, while she was kind and listened, there's nothing she can do. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION FOR COVID TESTING. the staff in the back were so rude. After trying to find the place and calling several times. They canceled my test for being late after not being able to find it since it's "around back". When I got to the back of the building I was waiting a while for someone to come out. Finally when someone came out she told me she canceled it and couldn't help me. You would think with everything that is going on they would be more concerned in people safely and well being. Now I am going home tomorrow (flying) and hopefully won't be carrying the virus. Thanks a lot CVS Testing at Poway for "accommodation" and "help" during these times of need. The USB slots at the photo center machines do NOT work! There were two Kodak kiosk machines and only one of them was working. I tried to connect my iPhone using my own cable to the USB slot and the machine didn't sense there was something plugged in. I saw the sign on the machine encouraging use of the mobile app so you could transfer pictures wirelessly using the Kodak kiosk wi-fi connection in the store. That worked great, but I had to download the app on the spot. The whole operation to print a dozen photos from my iphone took too long 15+ minutes. read more

The Minute Clinic here really depends on who you get. I took my younger son here when he had the flu. The blond PA saw us. She didn't seem to know where anything was in the office. Then she completely freaked out when my son's heart rate was very elevated and refused to give him Tamilflu because it can cause hallucinations. SHE SAID THIS IN FRONT OF HIM AFTER I TOLD HER HE TENDS TO BE ANXIETY PRONE. We left. I ended up taking him to the Urgent Care at Scripps Clinic. They saw us right away. The were not concerned about the elevated heart rate, as he had a fever of 101.5 and was dehydrated. They had him stay three hours, forced fluids and gave him ibuprophen on top of the tylenol I had already given him and prescribed Tamiflu without hesitation. The day prior I took my older son who had the flu. Different PA - darker hair. She knew where everything was, was efficient and knowledgeable, and prescribed Tamilflu! Great experience. read more
