I tend to shop a bit later in the evening and love it when stores stay open late. It's less crowded too. Each time I go to CVS, I forget how much they have in their stores. It's jam packed with all the stuff you need, from makeup to food products, I went specifically for hair products but there is so much to be tempted with. You could easily buy a last minute gift or impulsive purchase besides the item you really went in to the store to buy. Look at this cute rhinestone baseball cap for $15. Come on how cute is that. They have really good buyers at CVS. And after you buy your items the self check out spits out this outrageous long receipt to lure you back with fantastic discounts. You bet I'll be back before that coupon expires. read more

I took my daughter to the doctor because she was very ill, and they recommended I come to this CVS since it closes later than other pharmacies. I was seen after hours for a respiratory viral infection, and two prescriptions were sent to the CVS on McDowell. When I arrived, only one prescription was ready. I understand it was close to closing time, but it was very important that I receive the antibiotic as the doctor wanted her to start it right away because the infection had reached her lungs. I politely asked if someone could at least check on the second prescription, and although there were still a few minutes before closing, I was told no because they were closing. The interaction felt dismissive and lacking compassion during a stressful moment. I hope future customers in urgent situations can be met with more kindness and support. read more

Pharmacy staff is awesome! I called the Washington location to have a prescription moved from Raleys to CVS. Then I made the mistake of trying to pick it up at the McDowell location! The pharmacist and staff didn't miss a beat and they just transferred it and filled it and I had it in 15 minutes. I've also been here for printing and just to grab a couple of quick items. Not sure what all the terrible reviews are about, but I'm sure it's just people being petty and hating on folks. Shocked at the many negative reviews, but those were related to pharmacy, inoculations and telephone responsiveness. We came in to get some prescriptions filled and it was a fine experience. Especially as we were from out of state. But, CVS is networked, so the meds our doctor ordered in SC were there on the system and we were able to get and pay for them as if we were home. I bought a wrong type of light bulb by mistake for my lamp. I went back to return it the next day. The lady said that the barcode on the package wasn't scanning so it couldn't be returned. I asked if she could check the receipt to return it. She just refused to do anything and kept saying can't return can't return loudly. read more

I have never had worse service from a pharmacy, and I am 68. While Suzanne does her best as a pharmacist, Will Diaz is not good with customer service. He is not good at knowing where to look up prescriptions, so I am not sure why he still works there. They have high staff turnover over, and can mess up even the most basic order. It was a year of monthly problems in getting one med filled each month. They demanded unnecessary prior authorization on meds that Medicare kept saying need no PA. One month, they shorted my pill amount without advising me in a change. The Manager, Gary actually lied to me when he said it was a change with my insurance and I should talk with them. He was rude, uninformed, and untruthful...and he manages that pharmacy. Crap rolls downhill at CVS, which is detested by everyone who lives in Petaluma. Go to Safeway if you want good service but never never never go to this store for medications. read more

Who's gonna review a pharmacy unless they've got an ax to grind? Apparently just me to counter the other folks. I switched from another pharmacy where I would wait long periods for someone to help me even if I was first in line and where they'd say the prescriptions were ready to this pharmacy. Here is how this pharmacy is better than my previous pharmacy. 1. I can order refills and see when they are ready for pickup on the cvs.com website. 2. When I come to pick them up, there is always at least one cashier working the pickup area. 3. I never show up to pick up prescriptions only to find out that they actually aren't ready. 4. If something needs to be faxed to a doctor, they don't take 3 plus days to do it like my old pharmacy did. Don't have any other criteria for a pharmacy. read more

Not a great pharmacy. I was trying to get my flu and COVID shot, but they were having issues trying to look up my insurance. One lady there 'found' my account before telling me I wasn't covered. I asked her to try a different number that that primary account holder had given me and she refused to even try the number, instead she just kept repeating she 'found' my account and that I was not covered. (it was probably an old account from a different insurance before we got our current insurance.) I asked her to just try the different number I had and she just refused to take the extra minute it would have taken to type in the numbers to check. So I called a different CVS Pharmacy (The one in Target on Kenilworth Dr) and had them check and it turned out it was the correct number and I was fully covered. If I had been getting something for almost no money I wouldn't be complaining, but right now the COVID vaccine is $190 and flu $60, so it was really important that I be able to use my insurance and yet that lady couldn't be bothered to to even check, even when I repeatedly asked her to. AVOID THIS PHARMACY IF YOU CAN! The one in Target on Kenilworth Dr is only a few blocks away from this one and the people there seem more willing to help. read more

If I could give negative stars I would . Every time we have had the misfortune to call in a prescription here it goes wrong and not only that the woman (always the same one) becomes instantly hysterical and combative and yells then hangs up the phone. I'm not kidding , I could not make this up . It has now happened both to myself and my husband more than once, in all of that order . This time she took it to another level and actually told my husband a direct lie and said it had been sent to a different pharmacy and he went over there only to be told it wasn't . So now my 4 year old son is two days without his mediicine. Outrageous , simply inexcusable and dangerous behavior. This woman needs to be reported to the board , which I intend on doing. read more

I've stopped going to cvs because I feel the workers are stressed with work load are understaffed and not getting paid enough. The shelves are unorganized and not stocked, the layout is messy. CVS's quality has lowered drastically through the years. Today I had to go to cvs as my last resort, and while checking out the lady was so rude ripping the items I was scanning out of my hand, to "help me". I get it she's probably tired and burnt out. But I myself have worked in the food industry and retail and I've never snapped at a costumer. It's all about self control and patience. But clearly that can't be obtained when they're understaffed and underpaid. read more

Vicky had asked me if I needed help and I was pleasantly surprised by this "old style cosmetic clerk". She knows her merchandise, the discount options, and she took the time to help me find just what I needed. Wow, how is this pharmacy still operating? Long waits, inefficient staff, terrible customer service. Was informed I'd get a text message when the prescription was ready, never did. Had to call and be put on hold to check on the prescription status. I had to stand in line and even when it was my turn, I was simply ignored and did not receive any assistance since the few people who worked there were busy doing other things. So strange... I've been to this CVS location two times for photo printing services and the staff were very inexperienced with the photo printing equipment and processes. This second time, I needed a passport photo with foreign sizing, which the Kodak machines do give options for (a plus). However, the staff made me a little nervous because they seemed bothered by my simple questions, like I was either asking for too much or they straight up told me they didn't know. One older staff member seemed annoyed by having to help me. I found more help on CVS's website for passport photos than they could help me with or bother to know themselves. My guess is that they aren't trained well or very short staffed. read more

All the staff were very pleasant. Especially at the pharmacy. I would've appreciated being told I'd have to wait 30 minutes for a flu shot. I didn't have the time to wait. Under staffed is an understatement. But it's not the staff's fault so let's not take it out on them. Next time I will ask for a heads up on wait time, then decide if I'll stay or not. I've always had such good experiences at cvs across the nation. Not sure what's up with this one. Sad because the staff clearly are motivated to work imo. read more

If I could give "0" stars I would! I Drove from Novato with my daughter who is leaving for college. She needed her annual flu vaccine. Both she and I had scheduled our flu vaccine online. A pleasant women behind the counter asked what she could help us with and I told her our names and reason for visit. The pharmacist from across the room had been glaring at us and shouted angrily, "you are going to have to wait! Go sit down!" She was visibly angry. No "hello" no "good morning" just shouting at us. Both my daughter and I went and sat down, opened our phones and searched Walgreens for a flu shot and found one for the same day. I'm a nurse, a very seasoned nurse, and I have never spoke to a patient like we were spoken too. Her tone and body language was so hostile and there was no way I trusted her to treat both my daughter and I. The pharmacist name is Ozzie(don't know correct spelling). I told her we were leaving and to not draw up the vaccines which she clearly had not started. She then started yelling again and asked why. I told her we were going to Walgreens and she became more angry shouting why. I stated, "because of the way you are speaking to me right now." The clerk at the front of CVS on our way out admitted the pharmacist received a lot of complaints. I will never go to this pharmacy again. We are patrons of CVS on Novato Blvd and are very happy with our service but they didn't have flu vaccine appointments. read more

My husband and I are switching to a new pharmacy after both of us had terrible experiences on separate occasions at this pharmacy.   There was a sting of incompetence, such as me calling in twice with the correct fax number for my doctor, and them still not updating their system, as well as outright lying to the CVS supervisor when I asked to talk with a supervisor about what was happening. I was lied to by the Lead Tech who said they are not allowed to fax my doctor a preauthorization (after eight days of telling me that they had already sent the preauthorization to my doctor).  Of course, this was not the truth, as it is standard procedure for the pharmacy to fax the doctor's office the preauthorization information and they had done it for my husband the month before for the same meditation. In my case, it took me calling every day for eight days and finally going down in person to get the situation fixed, including giving them the correct fax number for a third time.  When I asked to speak to the supervisor, Bill came over and did not acknowledge me, but only talked with the Lead Tech.  I had to interrupt and say "I am the one that asked to speak with you, I would appreciate if you would come over here and hear what I have to say."  I was called rude!!  Unbelievable. Needless to say, after 25 years we will no longer be shopping for our toiletries at this store and we have moved our prescriptions to another pharmacy.  If I could give negative stars, I would! read more

Of late the store seems disorganized. It's been at least 3 weeks that I know of that they have not had air conditioning in this store. They have several portable cool air units scattered throughout the store but there are still areas where it is extremely warm to hot in there. Can't understand why a multi-million dollar company can't get there A/C fixed. Again, it's been at least 3 weeks, possibly longer. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only - I always find the store employees quite pleasant. I needed antibiotics for a bad infection, which my doctor sent over electronically. After waiting some time I checked online to see if my prescription was in process - I saw nothing, so I decided to give them a jingle. 31. Minutes. On. Hold. And still no answer. I had to go to work so I sent my boyfriend to pick up the medicine. A very unpleasant woman told him she could not give it to him as it was "on a hold." This woman was clearly confused and looking at my migraine medicine even though my boyfriend had clearly explained what he was there for. I sent him a picture of the confirmation from my doctor, and she told him, "Well that doesn't mean it's here." I didn't realize prescriptions got lost in cyberspace. I called them myself, again, and much to my surprise I got an answer. I explained that they were looking at the wrong medicine, and I needed my antibiotic. Very quickly she advised me she saw the antibiotic and would fill it in just a few minutes. I'm very confused at how the employee helping my boyfriend said she couldn't find it, and even worse, was rude about it. I understand that they are short staffed, however that is never an excuse for compromising on customer service. I work in an establishment that is understaffed and we still manage to deliver quality care. This behavior needs to be addressed as it is sickening and unacceptable. I haven't shopped here in a few years since they stopped taking our med insurance on prescriptions. But we did a simple on line picture order a few days ago. We got the notice saying it was ready, but when we went to the store they couldn't find it. Because everything was so disorganized. Then I looked around. They got rid of the quicker check out line they used to have. I"m guessing some manager who just took over decided to streamline things to save money.
