A male pharmacist/owner threatened to not deliver my mothers Parkinson's drugs when she was out of drugs because I asked for a receipt be delivered to me as I'm the patient advocate and accountant. One star for a few reasons: 1. They provided conflicting information. Their staff seems confused and disorganized. I had a specialty prescription that needed to be filled here and they told me it could be filled at a regular pharmacy. I waisted days going in circles to find that the prescription needed to be filled at a specialty pharmacy like this. It was a headache for me, our typical pharmacy, our doctor, and my infant who was in pain. 2. They don't take Cigna insurance. They are also less than helpful with information on getting the insurance to reimburse the cost. They also don't take good Rx or any other discount support. 3. Price - Paying out of pocket they charge more than other specialized pharmacys around. The speciality drug store in Windsor was at least $30-40 less and willing to find creative ways to help decrease the cost. (by $130) 4. Wait time - They called to say our prescription was ready but then we had to wait another 15 minutes for them to mix it when we got there. 5. Lack of awareness - while I'm rocking my sleeping baby in the carrier trying to get in and out as fast as possible the staff approaches me to loudly chat. The awareness that I'm hiding in the corner with a covered baby away from the noisy register should give them a clue. I waited months to post this draft because we needed to come back for refills and I was hoping the experience would change. It didn't. Having a baby with both colic and reflux is hard and the pharmacy didn't make things easy on us. Fortunately the medicine did help so it was all very worth it! read more

Definitely interesting is what I can say. I was never aware of this stores existence until I had to visit for a family members needs. While price is very convenient compared to other competitors, I really felt uncomfortable with the whole experience. Not located in an ideal spot in Santa Rosa mixed with "meh" customer service and an odd interior of the store really did not have me running back for anything else. While I can see it's allure from a price point, not sure of the quality of the products as it is not a CVS, Rite AID, etc. so you are putting your trust in a small unknown store. I leave that decision up to you, while the drugs purchased seemed to work, just not sure of quality. Middle of the road review for sure. read more

Zero stars if I could. The lady at the counter turned us away for our Covid Booster because we didn't have insurance. Myturn.org clearly states that everyone is eligible for the Covid vaccines whether they have insurance or not. She made us feel like we didn't belong there, not good enough. I've been going to Dollar drug for over 20 years. It is the best kept secret in Santa Rosa. The people are knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. I couldn't imagine anybody writing a bad report for these people at Dollar drug. I called because I needed to know if they had a medication in stock before I had my grandmother's prescription sent over.We are staying in town because my grandmother is starting her first round of radiation. I talked to a man named Allen on the phone and I'm pretty sure it was THE most rude and unprofessional interaction I have ever had with a medical professional. Before today I would have given Dollar Drug 5 stars. But today I was notified that they were no longer accepting my prescription insurance because they don't make any money from it. I was actually told their costs were not covered! After being diagnosed with MS 9 years ago, I had to go on permanent disability and I have just finished treatment for breast cancer. Now I have to find a new pharmacy because Dollar Drug doesn't make any money off of my medical conditions. Just goes to prove that even when you try and support local businesses, all any of them care about is money. They have no regard for the patient. Good riddance Dollar Drug. I came here to read about how customers feel about their pharmacy, Dollar Drug, as I currently go to CVS on Mendocino. At CVS it's getting bad with customer service, errors and saying they will let me know when they will refill an Rx....but they don't. They hire rude, young girls and nothing happens to their attitudes after you complain, but they are still there. I am disabled so I really LOVE their drive-thru. I have quite a few meds and errors are unacceptable. So I was hoping Dollar Drug would be great as it's really close to home, but alas, seems I should keep looking. Really disappointed. I did go there once for a covid booster, and was treated somewhat rudely. read more

I have been going to Dollar Drug for a few years for one of my prescriptions. And I have never had one problem! I have always had a really great experience and I've never had to worry about my prescription being filled on time or anything like that! This is just a really great neighborhood pharmacy (which is really hard to find in Sonoma County these days). Every pharmacist and staff member that works there is extremely nice, fast and efficient, well educated, they all know you by name, it's just really cool to go in there. I will always support a small little business like this over the big pharmacies in town! It is usually a little bit more expensive for my prescription that I get, but to me it is so worth it! read more

I am retired from a 51-year practice of medicine. Dollar Drug cares less for its customers than any pharmacy I have ever encountered and they are really cold about it. The best advice I can give to anyone who does business with these people or is thinking about doing business with them is to find a different pharmacy or risk the consequences. read more

I have been going to Dollar drug for 5 years My doctor calls in prescription every 4 weeks. she calls in they fill I pick up, no problem except today, dollar drug decided to make me wait 4 more days. Not my doctor, dollar drug decided on their own. I went there cause the staff knew me and were friendly and all of a sudden I am faceless nobody. For a local pharmacy, I have been using them for years. I was sad to say that yesterday was my very 1st experience with Dollar Drug where they failed to meet my service expectations. I gave my new insurance information to Mera who I was working with at the pharmacy. The following day, I go to pickup my medication and am being told to pay out of pocket. For some apparent and unknown reason, the note left for me states they no longer accept my health insurance "Western Health". The note also reads " pay out of pocket and ask your insurance to reimburse you or go buy somewhere else. I found that tone to be quite rude. It would have been common courtesy to call me and advise me over the telephone with a specific reason why you couldn't accept my insurance, rather that to leave a rude note. That behavior is not acceptable and terrible customer service. I didn't appreciate it one bit. In the future, I would expect that this type of behavior gets corrected. Be upfront, honest and tell me the specific reason why you cannot accept my health insurance and I will deal with it - with my insurance company, by either filing a complaint with California Department of Managed Health or wherever else I need to. I second the one star review from a week ago. What an inept cashier - - I have never met someone who is less familiar with the functions of her job. I walked into an empty pharmacy at 1:15 in the afternoon on a Friday. I stood and waited, and the only person I saw was a woman talking on the phone so I patiently waited for her. After two minutes a woman flies up giggling and apologizes, saying that she didn't see me and was "spacing out over in the corner". Of course I had not seen her, but regardless, you don't tell a customer that. Because I had driven from San Francisco and run out of water, and in my two minutes standing there I did not see a bathroom, I asked if she could fill up my water bottle. She acted as if I asked her to run to Safeway and buy me a beer or something - - like it was the most difficult request ever, even suggesting that I "buy my own water" rather than simply filling my bottle. Begrudgingly, she filled it up. Then, she asked me the name the script was under, and I spelled it THREE times, eventually showing her (Roberson is not a hard name) and she couldn't find it in the computer. I told her it had been set aside by Courtney earlier in the morning, so she proceeded to dig through cupboards and pick things up off the counter, searching to no avail. We then decided to wait for Courtney to get off the phone, and as I walked up to her counter, she gestured to the prescription, which was in fact sitting on the counter directly behind her, and the cashier rang me up. My total was $13.61, and I looked in my wallet but was unable to find a penny. I saw a pile of pennies sitting on the cash register and asked if I could use one of those, and the cashier said "no." I was taken aback because I've never had a cashier begrudge me a penny, so I asked again to clarify and she said "we have to make sure our drawers total at the end of the day". Uh, yes--obviously, I've been a cashier for decades, I know how it works. Perhaps she's new at this (though she was 40+) and doesn't realize that throughout day people will leave a dozen pennies so it's so not a big deal. I can't believe she would risk losing TWO paying customers for $0.01, but sadly, that's what happened. I tried to s/w the management before leaving this review, but was told they were "in a meeting". My cat has a congenital disorder that is extremely rare and requires compounded medicine. One prescription is compounded at Road Runner Pharmacy in Arizona which is EXCELLENT. The other is compounded here at Dollar Drugs. This place is really bad on customer service. They don't bother to let you know that a prescription is ready, and since these meds do take days, I'd appreciate knowing when they are done. The staff is surly and say things like, "Oh, a CAT." As though she were not deserving of life. They also sneer at her name. I understand that compounded medications are expensive, but the cost just goes up and up. Considering the meds are for a ten lb cat, I think the price is extortionate. The other thing I noticed just today. They make you sign a form that says you were offered a consult, even though I have NEVER been offered a consult at this pharmacy. I wrote on the form that I was NOT offered any consultation. I assume that this form is because of the crappy customer service and so they are trying to head off trouble. read more

I bought empty supplement capsules that they pulled out from behind the counter in a Tupperware container which had Ziploc bags (sandwich bags), that looked shady AF in the first place in it. I ended up not needing them and tried to return them maybe two hours later.....with the receipt and they wouldn't take them back. They said they couldn't know if they had been opened(I did not open the bag and told the owner this). Ok I get that but you packaged them like that. At this point I'm talking to the owner. "You sold them to me like that so why is it my fault?" He goes on to say they have a policy about no returns on this item because of the way it's packaged. I was never informed when purchasing about this policy, there was no signage, nor was this "policy" written anywhere for me to see. Then he said I was the first person to ever return them.... But they have a policy about the return situation that's never happened before? It was a very unpleasant interaction after the first woman that sold them to me was so very nice. This is all over $7 btw. He then tried to half ass offer me half my money ($3.50) and keep them because he couldn't use them. I was more insulted by that offer and refused. Now he's holding out for $3.50 with a shady ass sandwich baggie half full just like the ones you would put your weed in. It's three dollars and fifty cents dude. Don't offer me half what I paid like we are on some backwoods barn rummage sale show trying to haggle me down to save a buck. Take those capsules with the receipt and shove them up your.... trash can or recycle bin if you even have one you monster. Was this worth you saving 7 freakin dollars mr policy man, that's never actually ever used the policy but had to stand by this policy because it will prob never come up again, and we don't want other people taking advantage of this $7 come up. I guess when you running a crappy business you can't afford to be giving every Tom, dick and harry that buys kitchen sandwich baggie Tupperware goods from behind the counter their money back. Just like buying drugs in the same baggies on the street.... There ain't no returns there neither ... but I was definitely made completely aware of that return policy many times. This is my first Yelp review ever. I needed to get some antibiotics for my bird and my vet told me I had to go to Dollar Drug. One of the Dollar Drug employees called only around an hour and a half before they closed at 7:00pm, and my vet told me that I had to get the antibiotics the day they were ready because they expire in 14 days and it was a 14 day treatment. I was in the middle of something when they called, so I ended up barely making it before they closed (I literally ran up as they began shutting the lights off). There was still a customer inside being helped. I walked in and I could tell the girl that helped me was irritated that I had. She was very short with me, didn't go over the medication with me and when I asked a question, she immediately shut me down and irritatedly told me that was something I need to ask my doctor. I was out of there before the person that was already being helped when I had first walked in. When I walked out the girl had to unlock the door for me and said "and for the future, we close at 7:00pm" in a condescending voice and locked the door behind me. Yeah, it's annoying when someone walks in as you are closing, I get it. I don't usually ever do it and find it kind of rude like many others. But this was one of those situations where it was something important I needed for my pet who has been having some health problems. I used to be a waitress and hated it when someone would walk in a minute before closing, but I always treated my customers kindly. Why? Because it was my job. And when someone walks into a restaurant right before closing, it's shitty because you are going to be waiting for them as they eat for at least 30 minutes. And then you have to clean up after them, finish your side work and lock up. I was in Dollar Drug for less than 2 minutes and was treated this way. And I'm going to most likely have to go back if my bird ever needs this medication again. In the end, my point is this is a pharmacy selling medication that can be pretty vital for people and their pets - I just wish that employees would be a bit more professional, as they are not selling food, they are selling medicine that some depend on. read more

There is no better pharmacy than Dollar Drug. I've tried CVS, Walgreens, etc... and the prices are the same plus the customer service is much better. I almost never have issues with refilling or anything, but if I do they help as much as the possibly can. I needed a special medication compounded (mixed up from scratch). It is an unusual compound, but Frank and his staff were very nice in helping me and my doctor find the right formula and making it. I can't get it anywhere else in the County as far as I know. They are always happy to take the time to talk to me and answer lots of questions. UPDATE: This year, 2013, I switched all my many meds over to DD, despite insurance pressure to use mail order and big chains, I want to support local businesses. When I came in with my 15 prescriptions in hand to transfer they were unfriendly about it to put it politely. So I am at Dollar Drug shopping for all kinds of OTC products plus the Rxs. Every week. The cashiers have asked me in front of other customers why I am taking a particular prescription. I've heard them call me a "heavy hitter" because I take several prescriptions. Many times they have rung me up without all my refilled prescriptions that are ready in the bag. But worse, I have had a nightmare of a time getting a very common prescription filled correctly. I've had the Rx written the same way for many years at 2 other pharmacies. For weeks that they refused to fill it because the first one, that was supposedly written "wrong", but still had refills. It took months to get it right, and I was told I was welcome to take my business elsewhere if I didn't want to pay twice for one month's supply of pills- for six months in a row. Really disappointing. My advice is that you take your compounded Rxs here and fill all others somewhere else. I could not feel less welcome at Dollar Drug the past year. read more

Dollar drug was here when I needed them. I was able to have my VETERINARIAN call in a prescription while I was 400+ miles from home and Dollar drug filled it quickly and accurately. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is clean and well lit, selling many health and personal hygiene items as well as some small gifts. 1 star off because the medicine (same amount/strength) was 15% more expensive than just buying it from my veterinarian but I needed it so I paid for it. read more

I had to have a compound medicine made and they're the only local pharmacy. I had to wait 40 minutes for them to tell me that my insurance didn't cover the medication that I had to pay for it before I could pick up the Rx in 3-5 days. The gentleman helping me was kind but you could tell the pharmacist and the techs could care a less about the time they were waisting. I know that running a Rx through insurance can be done electronically what should have taken 15 mins waisted almost an hour for no Rx in hand and a 3-5 day wait. read more

I'd give zero right now if I could. Something has changed over the last year or so and with each interaction you get a 50/50 percent chance of it turning into a big hassle. It's like they are no longer familiar with the basic functions a pharmacy serves. Fill prescriptions from doctors orders...it really should be as easy and convenient as it sounds like it could be. And it did used to be like that until whatever changes recently took place and left that place a nightmare. Somehow they seem to make each interaction some big deal with several call backs and confusion and questions and assumptions and at the end of the day they just end up doing whatever they "feel like"...not really the level of care, concern or treatment needed around your medications. I'd look elsewhere if you are looking for a regular type place to just have these basic functions served without all the extra nonsense. Seems like a lotta people are needing to feel important there and so that's where the run around comes in. No thank you. No one has time for all that extra inappropriate nonsense. I needed a medication that was way too expensive for me to afford on Social Security...Dollar Drug was able to make a compound of the ingredient that was costing so much and now I pay 50$ twice a year instead of over 300$ a month! The staff is courteous and pleasant to deal with. They send me messages when my medication is ready. This pharmacy makes things u can't get elsewhere, if u need a compounded med, they are great...prepare to wait a few days and pay ahead the first time. People who write poor reviews of this place are expecting things they aren't going to get. I prefer small pharmacies bc I've had my drugs stolen at Walgreens, and bc they don't know me from Adam, they tried to blame me. They ended up being fined by the state! The difference between Dollar Drug and chain pharmacies is like day and night. It's an actual full-service pharmacy. They are fast, have enough staff so you never stand in line more than a minute or two, and they have funny greeting cards. This is strictly a boutique drug store selling compound drugs. They'll fill your regular prescriptions...for an excessive fee. But if you need them to deal with insurance issues or anything out of the ordinary, good luck. They don't use the same billing and fulfillment systems that mainstream pharmacies do nor do they have the same knowledge of them. It's easy to see why some small businesses are going under. Give your business to CVS or Walmart where they know what they're doing. read more

If you are in legitimate pain, don't use this pharmacy. Some, if not all of the pharmacist seem to think that anyone taking pain medication is a liar and a drug abuser no matter what the circumstance. I have an autoimmune disease that aggravates spinal stenosis which leaves me in daily, debilitating pain. I take an opioid for some relief and have not increased the dose in ten years so that I won't be "drugged" or needing more and more. I needed my RX filled early and my doctor requested a three day early refill. The woman pharmacist told me that I couldn't get the RX early and that"you should have enough". Not knowing a thing about my circumstances but just because she didn't want to do it. On top of that this was told to me by a clerk loudly at the counter like I was a low life drug abuser. This kind of treatment for people in pain has to stop. Also I have been a customer of Dollar Drug for at least 6 years and she is new, not me. Shameful, unethical behavior for a self righteous pharmacist to continue dispensing medication to help people. Time to find a new pharmacy! read more
