I recently went to Dollar Tree to pick up a few home and self-care items, including a long candle lighter from the candle section. Unfortunately, my experience at checkout was very unpleasant. When I got to the register, the cashier barely greeted me. She didn't even ask if I wanted a bag--I actually had to ask her for one. When she finally gave me one, it was already ripped, and she started throwing my items into it, which felt very careless and unfriendly. When she got to the lighter, she suddenly demanded my ID. I was honestly surprised because I have never been asked for ID when purchasing a lighter at Dollar Tree before. I laughed at first because I thought she was joking. Instead of explaining the policy, she responded very rudely, asking, "What's so funny? I'm not joking. Did I stutter?" Since I hadn't planned on needing ID at Dollar Tree, I only had a photo of it on my phone. I showed it to her, but she refused to accept it, removed the lighter from my bag, and said she wasn't going to lose her job over me. To make matters worse, she didn't ask if I wanted my receipt and then told me to "grab your shit and go." That level of disrespect was completely unnecessary. I understand that employees have to follow store policies, and I respect that. However, the way I was spoken to and treated was extremely rude and unprofessional. Customer service should still involve basic respect and communication. This interaction left me feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed with the experience. Decent size store with plenty of parking. It is surround by other stores and restaurants. This store was clean and some aisles were organized more than others but there were many employees stocking the shelves. There were a variety of new items here. They had fall decor up and some Halloween items out already. The value here is good. Many items still at $1.25, except for some home goods. The gentleman at the register was very nice. He had great customer service skills. I would visit this store again! read more

Absolutely the BEST customer service I have Ever had at a dollar tree. Walked in after dark & the store was dead. I was Greated by Matthew Who not only helped attend to my needs he went so far as to go to the back TWICE just to Find the Specific size Peanunt M&M's I was looking for and I didnt even ask, Quickly offered to go to the back and look for them, when I asked what his name he Smiled and Proudly Said "my name is Matthew Nice to meet you while looking me in the eyes. Like I said,Polite,Nice,Attentive & professional. I dont know who the "Boss" is but in telling you, Matthew deserves a raise. Love this store. Clean, well stocked, and open when they are supposed to be. Staff AND managment are kind, courteous and helpful. This is a busy Dollar Tree and yet the aisles are clear and wide. NOTHING is on the floor and you aren't blocked from shelves by overflowing carts of merchandise. I mention this because that is the situation at the store up on North McDowell. Talk about opposites and it even seems to rub off on the customers. You feel valued in this happy, happy store! The two Petaluma locations sometimes have variations in merchandise so I frequent this one when I can. I always leave with a smile on my face. Textbook perfect Dollar Tree. Bravo read more

Stopped in to buy batteries. Cruised the entire store. Ended up buying $23 worth of various and sundry items. Store was fairly clean and organized. Aisles were wider and clutter free compared to other Dollar Tree stores in Sonoma county. (The two on Industrial Drive Santa Rosa and Sonoma highway Boyes Hot Springs are fairly atrocious. These two are like wading through a bomb devastated disaster zone). This Petaluma Store candy aisle had lots more chocolates than I've seen at the Yulupa Ave Store in Santa Rosa (my usual haunt). Chocolate made up most of the $23 bill here in Petaluma. The 15 minutes I spent here was good cheap entertainment. Go across the parking lot to the Grocery Outlet. Yes this place can be a mess however that doesn't give you the right to harass employees! I was their on July the 23 and a woman bought 7-9 bags of ice. Probably for a party. Understandable completely! A man came in and complained about it the whole time to other customers. He was finally at the register and started to yell at the woman working there. She handled it so well but she was shaking. This poor woman was trying so hard to hold her ground. She did amazing for someone screaming and yelling! Finally I stepped in and just told him to leave and so did another man. Apparently this man that was complaint and throwing a temper tantrum was a regular! This review is for this woman who was so sweet to me and so kind even after being yelled at and the man throwing money at her. Literally thrown. Please be nicer to the employees at discount stores or low costing places because they don't get paid enough to deal with this stuff! Be kind to one another! read more

This is the cleanest Dollar Tree store I've been to. It's got a lot of party supplies, seasonal items. Still, there were empty shelves and one could tell they had tried to catch up on the stocking.They've got a smaller food section, but they have an embarrassment of riches with kitchen supplies. I was able to get a reasonably sized spatula/pancake flipper. Unfortunately, there were staffing issues. One cashier was inflating balloons, and the cashier at the sole open cash register left folks waiting while she helped a customer find razors. Having two cashiers on duty wasn't sufficient. Dollar Tree is in a shady part of the Petaluma riverfront that's somewhat of a homeless hangout. The parking lot is also complicated- there are employee and bank-only spots, it's only 2 hours, so be mindful of your time. read more

Yesterday we made a quick trip to the dollar tree for band aids and coloring books. I was in a hurry and asked the clerk Nicole where I could find band aids and also about the cleaning supplies and toilet paper ( because every where is out) Nicole was super helpful and charming and she totally made my day go from hectic and crazy to calm collective and smooth. This is probably my least favorite of the chain, and I think I have been to them all, at least the ones in Sonoma County. Store is never 'clean' not that I'm expecting neat and tidy, but I'd like the floors to not look like a herd of people trampled them and hadn't been washed. Hard to find items here, the logistic of how things are laid out is beyond awful. They do have the usual staple items the dollar store carries, but not much more. read more

Wow! I was able to buy about 95% of my oldest son's birthday supplies (Food and drinks, Decorations, Goodie bags, etc) here and only ended up with a total of $20! I'm actually surprised this location has many stars as it does. First of all, I've been here multiple mornings when they are supposed to open and it's 10 minutes after the doors are supposed to be unlocked but they are not. Obviously this isn't a big enough deal to where I'm going to go out of my way and write a review for just that but it's still very poor business. My issue today was a certain blonde haired woman and her bad attitude. She made a snippy remark about my son screaming in the store. I'm sorry, have you never been around small children? They scream when they do not get their way. Obviously parents are very embarrassed when their children do this but hey it happens, no need to point it out and make us feel even worse. Then she made a remark about how my son wasn't wearing a mask and told us "don't come back in this store unless he is wearing a mask." Excuse me??? He's not even two years old yet and the CDC recommends children under the age of two DO NOT WEAR A MASK!! I like going to the store because it's walking distance from my house but I will be taking my business elsewhere even if it's a little bit out-of-the-way. read more

I was in the dollar tree and I politely asked the lady (Sue) to wear her mask when assisting me since it was hanging off her face. She then proceeded to tell me she was wearing her mask and refused to put it on and cover her nose and mouth. Was there yesterday to pick up some hand sanitizers and they had one checkout line that seem to be moving slowly. By the time i was the next one to ring up, I realized the cashier was not being friendly to the patron in front of me but didn't make out what the ruckus was about. When it was my turn, I tried to move the item separator to the person behind me as our stuff was very close to each other but the cashier place her hand on it as to not to touch it...strange. It was the only separator there so I mention that this line needed more but she didn't want to hear it. Then she took the longest time trying to figure out how to add .10 for a bag cause apparently she forgot to add it during the initial items check out and was holding up the line. I try to resolve this by placing the coins on the counter that she ignored and continue to hold up the line trying to figure out how to ring up for the bag. Finally out of haste, she just deduct the dime from the 5 I gave her that I didn't know beforehand so I can get the bag. So I ended up with a .20 cents bag, no big deal which I should of just told her to forget about it but I doubt she would have listen to what i had to say anyways. What was a big deal is her holding up the line trying to figure this out along with her strange demeanor toward customers. People like that should stock items, not work as cashiers! read more

Great store with a great selection and real nice seasonal items. There is a bit of a staffing issue and it takes them a long time to restock basic items. If you ask to speak to a manager all employees claim to be said manager. I go here fairly regularly and most times there is a long line with only one checker and/or an employee talking on their cell or talking to each other or outside smoking and not working. read more

I really like this store. I was afraid of it coming to town and bringing issues to the downtown area but I was wrong, it hasn't at all! Always able to find things in here. Their food selection is really good. All dated correctly and organized. The manager Melissa is very friendly and helpful. The only comment I would say is that I was in there the other day and their was a staff member(man wearing a bright blue shirt), angry throwing a fit and just walked out on another employee. This cause a large line and the woman employee was just telling people to kindly wait. It took forever, I saw people just put their stuff down and walk out. I know this wouldn't of happened if Melissa or even Silvia was there, just hope they read this and get the guy talked too pronto. read more

This is a clean store that is well organized. I like that they carry Granny Goose chips here. You can also find good deals on cards and cookies. It is close to Grocery Outlet, so both stores are worth checking out before moving on to your regular grocery store. read more

Not sure if I've ever been to a Dollar Tree before, but after my teacher friend led me in here ("They always have stuff for the kids!"), I'm a fan. The "teacher" section looked like everything I ever wanted as a child (stickers, games, workbooks, etc.), and the rest of the store was alternately a grocery store, a drug store, and a housewares store. Another place you need to call before you go as they change their hours more times than I can recall. Originally they were open till 10 and then it was nine during the winter and now on Sunday they close at eight, so call ahead so you don't waste gas and time like I did. read more

While at the dollar tree the other day i was not able to find what i was looking for . Then before i could look around for an associate , i was approched by a lovey lady nametag Clorissa, who asked, "what can i do for you today? I told what I was looking for and she took the time to accomdiate my needs and turned me on to fact that dollar tree also carried helium balloons. She also informed that if her store didnt have what i was looking for she would be than happy to call another stores or I could even order on line. overall a wonderfull experience.
