Last night I was one of those terrible customers who show up as you are closing the doors. They let my Girlfriend run inside and get the one item she needed. I used to hate when people would do this kind of stuff when I worked in retail. But it makes a world of difference when the person doing it knows exactly what they need and move quickly. You should never walk into a store around closing time and shop around. Anyway, the service was good. I find this to be a good and convenient location, I just wish they were open later. This review is for the pharmacy. The employees here are so incompetent, get your prescriptions elsewhere. You'll save hours!

Hands-down the most incompetently-run pharmacy I've been to in the US or Mexico. At least two prescriptions that were submitted to them were simply never filled, no call, no explanation; I had to get my providers to re-send them. (Providers, plural; I'm pretty sure the issue is with the pharmacy since this has happened with both my doctor and my cat's vet, who both played nicely with the pharmacy near my old apartment.) Other prescriptions, it turns out, were filled, but the pharmacy just never called me (and yes, they have my correct phone number on file; I checked) and so they just sent it back when I didn't pick it up on time. Whenever I call to ask if my prescription is ready, I have to navigate an extensive menu that doesn't let you skip the recordings by pressing the right number as soon as they start talking, the automated system rarely provides an answer, and I have to wait on hold for several minutes to talk to someone who's invariably short-tempered at a patient having the temerity to inquire. I've had good experiences recently with other CVS locations; I can't understand how one branch of a chain could be so much worse. read more

Ghetto CVS. This is the place where you're treated like a criminal for coming in. Welcome to the burly security guard who will look you over to ascertain if you are a pick pocket. Check out the film developing area..where if you drop off some film, you will FOREVER get recordings to pick your pics up, after you already have. Not to mention "one hour developing" is false. I had some film developed and they didnt develop it even after 3 hours. I asked the girl why. She actually said to me "BECAUSE THEY DONT CARE"!!!!! That ought to tell you a lot. Yesterday I returned an item that I got at CVS on Arroyo Parkway there. Then today I returned some sparkly eye glitter because it was hurting the skin around my eyes. Do you know what happened?? Because it was the same person who helped me with my return yesterday, he for some odd reason, got all upset and emotionally agitated. He said that I had just been there returning something else. I said "Yes, I was". He said that he would have to take my DRIVERS LICENSE now and take my name down for, apparently, EXCESSIVE RETURNS. I FROZE.... after all my nasty experiences with Sprint retail, and the henious Starbucks on FAIROAKS AND ORANGE GROVE.... I was REALLY getting sick of all this massive illiteracy I continue to run into in the wonderous realm of RETAIL. I said "Its not like I returned 10 or 20 things.. why". He was upset and took my i.d. I did not protest because I needed to return the piece of crap I bought. I wasnt about to keep it after it caused almost a rash above my eyelid. He mumbled he was sorry but was still emotionally attached to the idea that I had come in too often. TWO RETURNS??? I feel like writing to the CVS headquarters concerning this atrocious and laughable supposed policy. I then began to make comments that I felt "Like a criminal" for returning two things "in a row". The black guy next to him was laughing. I tried to laugh it off, to show how insane and stupid this all was.. and I wondered why this guy was so emotional about something SO STUPID. The 4 stars is relative to other CVS locations. It's big and very friendly. It's clean - not SPARKLING clean like some of them, but not gross like some of them. Staff is always right on top of things, will always ask if they can help and will escort you to find it. However, they don't always know about the product. However, be fair... they probably have not gone through arduous CVS-school to learn details about every product. They will share what they know, if it's a good seller, etc. The organic / cruelty-free section is small, unfortunately so that's not a reason to come but the pharmacy is. They are super-friendly, remember you and expedite things as much as possible. The drive-through is a godsend. read more

Stopped at this CVS for the first time yesterday to get some soda and vanilla ice cream. Two hours later opened said ice cream only to be greeted by a severe layer of freezer burn! The incompetence of the staff at this location is only exceeded by the ridiculous lack of communication between the employees of the pharmacy. not only have I had to make three trips going on four in one day to this location for nothing, they also have no accountability for their gross incompetence. excuses on top of excuses. I haven't been to this CVS location a number of years and now I remember why I stopped going there. They're one of the few CVS is that have a drive-through which is why I was going to go there to drop off my prescription for some routine medications that needed a physical prescription dropped off and could not be mailed. (my wife and I are both immune compromised as well and this is during the COVID-19 epidemic so we are not going anywhere.I called ahead to assure that this would be no problem and yet when I got there, they said that I wouldn't be able to pick it up that day and then I was going to have to wait for them to call and verify my doctor. My doctor is nearing retirement it doesn't work every day and I've never had this issue in the eight years that I've been going to the other CVS on South Sierra Madre, which is absolutely amazing. I didn't understand why they needed to do this and why they couldn't just look at the history in my CVS file. They said that all Cvs is doing this and I didn't think that was the case. I called back to my South Sierra Madre store that does not have a drive-through and they said that must be a store policy and that that is not a CVS wide policy to call the doctor to verify a prescription. She said that I've been a long-time customer and they wouldn't mind coming out from the back of the pharmacy and meeting me in the parking lot to Drop off and pick up my prescription in person.I was shocked at the level of customer service. I knew that it was really good and that many of the employees know us by name. So I went back and picked up my prescription and called the other CVS and have a pharmacy staff meet me in the parking lot. I will never ever go to The CVS at Orange Grove and fair Oaks again. If you need to take important prescription and don't want to mess around, stay far away from this location. Go over to South Sierra Madre location which is just south of Del Mar Avenue in East Pasadena. read more

I went to get my second shot of Shingles. The window staff there was prompt, courteous, and professional. The pharmacist(?) who gave me the shot (which was quick and efficient) clearly explained what to expect afterwords. I feel very comfortable going there to get these services because of the staff there. read more

Worst store ever! The pharmacy is short staffed and for the past three months one or more of my family's prescriptions couldn't be filled because the medicine wasn't in stock! Why should a pharmacy accept a prescription of the store doesn't have the product to fill it? read more

My neighborhood CVS, just around the corner from my house. In a word - reliable. Always has what I need.

This store in general is like any other CVS. I like the variety of over the counter drugs, beauty and nutritional items. You almost always have to use the CVS card to get the price down to normal pricing. Otherwise, the items price tend to be inflated a little bit more than other drug stores. This store however also inherits the problems of other CVS stores I regularly visit. That is short of cashiers. I don't understand why they always have only one or two cashiers who work slowly while leaving other workers doing other tasks or chatting, making the customers wait in line very impatient. I waited once for close to 25 minutes to check out! read more

THE. WORST. You know how they say that you should give your pharmacy a week in advance to refill? For this place, you need a freaking month. I've told them a number of times that when they refill "3 months" worth of birth control for me, it actually turns out to be 2 and a half months because I skip placebo pills. I'm not to supposed to have a period in my life ever again, but thanks to these numbnuts not only don't seem to understand why this is a serious health issue for me, but they don't even seem to understand the basics of birth control regimens either! Their eyes glaze over at the very word "placebo". It's been 3 weeks since I last heard from them about this. Who wants to take bets about how many more weeks its going to be before they decide to grace me with their service? And forget calling them, too. Good luck even getting them to pay attention to what you're saying. Not having to deal with the terrible service here (and frankly, at a lot of CVS pharmacies) is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to my hysterectomy. No more letting these guys be so nonchalant about having my health in their hands. read more

Stay away from this pharmacy! The pharmacist assumed I didn't have insurance. IT FELT LIKE BECAUSE I AM A BLACK MALE SHE ASSUMED I DIDN'T HAVE INSURANCE. I have been to this pharmacy many times. I have never been asked to present my insurance card after the first initial visit. I don't want to make it a race issue but that's sure what It seemed like. Then she tells me she couldn't fill my prescription because the system was down. She didn't even attempt to call the insurance companies customer service hot line. SMH, THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED AT A CVS PHARMACY. STAY AWAY!!! THE CVS ON ARROYO HAS MUCH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

One of the best cashier's ever. It pains me that I can't remember this young ladies name, but she was the friendliest and most accommodating associate ever! Her name was Sunny or something with double letters...like a common name, but spelled in a unique way. Anyways, Her interaction was remarkable with the customers, especially a little boy who went on and on about Chucky Cheese! lol Then, as I searched frantically for a particular Shea Moisture soap and couldn't find it. She helped and offered the buy one get one half off because the other fragrances were on sale. She was the best! The only reason it has four stars and not five is because all of the cosmetics are taped with security stickers leaving a horrible residue on your lipsticks, gloss and whatever else. I guess a lot of people steal at this location. Unsure what it us, but I hate it! lol read more

Yesterday I was at CVS getting a refill on a prescription medicine. I was attended by Rudy (Rodolfo) the pharmacist. His customer service skills are genuine and sincere, also he was bilingual (Spanish/English) and apparently the only Spanish speaking pharmacist on-site. Rudy really put's his heart into his profession, he actually cared enough to explain how the medicine worked and the side effects involved. I know by experience some pharmacist don't care about advising clients but Rudy went the extra mile, people like Rodolfo bring back human kindness and care to healthcare. I wished Walgreens had the same customer service. I recommended my co-workers to Rudy's CVS at Fair Oaks, Pasadena. read more

Pharmacy has vastly improved over the past year. Most of the issues in my original review DO NOT occur now. Not perfect, but trying to be! _________________________ Original Review ( 1 Star) Routinely take days to fill prescriptions that other pharmacies fill in minutes or hours. Routinely take days to get doctors authorizations, and every single time lose them, and require the patient standing in line to call the doctor's office to confirm that they already had them hours ago. Generally try to make out like the doctors office is at fault, or the patient, or both but it's never either. If you're stuck with CVS try different branch. By the way, it's probably not a race thing. Everybody gets the same haughty you-must-be-stupid bad service. read more

CVS pharmacy usually leaves at least 2 voicemails per day when I have an Rx ready. I called in a Rx, my wife went to pick it up the next day. She waited in line for 20 minutes, then was told that they are out of stock on the medication, they lent me 8 pills and would telephone when they receive more of the medication in stock. We stopped here last night and all the workers seemed genuinely friendly and helpful. The cashier was also fast and skilled, my mom had multiple offers and coupons to use. This CVS is much nicer than the mansion CVS on Lake, and the one on Lake is rather full of stuff you don't need anyway. I just wanted to say thank you CVS manager for hiring and somehow motivating your employees. And thank you employees. read more
