Lack of selection with energy drinks. Staff was informative but not so much to guide you to the item/s you're looking for. More of, "it's over there". There was a line of about 10 people for quite some time while I was there shopping. Eventually when I got in line there was only 5 people in line. This place is VERY popular. Store is VERY clean. Being that it is in downtown uptown it gets lots of foot traffic.

Subject: Patient Privacy Concern - CVS Pharmacy, Metropolitan Ave (Repeat Incidents 4/8/2026 &…read more6/25/2026) To the Pharmacy Manager / Privacy Officer, CVS Pharmacy - Metropolitan Ave I am writing to raise a concern about patient privacy practices at this location involving my husband, Jerry Canizares, a regular patient at this pharmacy. This is the second time this type of incident has occurred at this location. On June 25, 2026, I was picking up his post-surgery prescriptions when a pharmacist asked me, openly at the counter with many other customers in line, what the prescription was for, and then disclosed specific details about his medication allergy. This exchange was clearly audible to the many people waiting in line at the time. I expressed my concern about this in person at the time, but the issue was not resolved. A similar incident occurred previously at this same location on or around April 8, 2026, when his medical information was likewise discussed openly at the counter within earshot of other customers. Under the HIPAA Privacy Rule, pharmacies are required to implement reasonable safeguards to limit incidental disclosures of protected health information, including using discretion, lowered voices, or physical barriers when discussing patient information at the counter. Two separate incidents at the same location, both involving open discussion of diagnosis, prescription purpose, and allergy history in front of a full line of customers - with concern already raised in person after the most recent incident and not addressed - indicate this is not an isolated lapse but an ongoing pattern that falls outside what HIPAA considers an acceptable incidental disclosure. I am requesting that: 1. Staff at this location receive a reminder/refresher on HIPAA-compliant communication practices at the pharmacy counter. 2. The store consider physical or procedural changes (e.g., privacy line markers, lowered-voice policy) to prevent this from recurring. 3. I receive a written response confirming what steps will be taken. I would like to resolve this directly with the store and hope to hear back with a clear plan of action. If this is not addressed satisfactorily, I will be pursuing this further with CVS corporate compliance and the HHS Office for Civil Rights. Please treat this as a formal complaint for your records. This pharmacy is located inside the Publix at Southline, a relatively new shopping plaza along South Blvd. It has its own parking deck - two levels! - beneath the stores with separate elevators for the supermarket and the retail shops. The parking is free. We were here for our COVID vaccine boosters this morning, having made appointments online using https://www.publix.com/covid-vaccine. Not every Publix Pharmacy has the same vaccines and I believe that whether you're Team Pfizer or Team Moderna, you should stick to the same. The CDC is still working out the "mix and match" so you should do as your doctor recommends. As for the shot, the pharmacist did a great job despite the fact that she did not have a "helper" today. She was as busy as a single waitress working a Waffle House next to the church on a Sunday morning. Lots of hustle but still professional as she answered phone calls, prepared syringes and then provided shots. Yes, I checked the label before she did anything. Just to be sure. As for the shot and reaction, the injection site started off at 0.5 and by evening was a 3. I kept my hand in my pocket because moving the arm was painful. It was not a great night's sleep. The entire next day was a waste. I sat in bed, slept and dozed all day. At +36 hours, I was at 100% all good. Hooray, it will be 100% effective when I land in Germany in two weeks. The CVS app makes it easy to track when a prescription has been received, filled, and ready for pickup. When I arrive at the store, I can scan the QR code at the pharmacy counter to check in, and the staff will call my name once the prescription is ready. The whole process is quick and efficient. The staff members I've interacted with have always been friendly and helpful, which makes the experience even smoother. Parking is probably the biggest challenge at this location. The lot is fairly small, and with nearby construction it can be a little tricky to navigate at times. Coming from the West Coast where I mostly used Walgreens, CVS has been a good alternative while I get settled in Charlotte. The staff there is friendly, quick, and always willing to help you find what you're looking for. They do the critical job of listening to the type of slices I want and complying. I also really appreciate their enclosed refrigerated sections throughout the store. It keeps the aisles comfortable, the products cold, and everything feels cleaner and more thoughtfully arranged compared to open‑air coolers you see elsewhere. I presume that there is also an efficiency gain for electricity usage which I can also appreciate. One downside for me is their Bakery. I appreciate a selection of freshly baked goods and find that lacking here. Another is their craft beer selection. It's noticeably limited compared to other grocery stores in the area, and it feels like an opportunity they haven't fully tapped into yet. A few more local or seasonal options would go a long way. Overall, though, even though I miss my Lowes Foods, it's a good store with decent service and a layout that makes shopping pretty easy to navigate.
