There is a strong foul odor as soon as you enter the parking lot. Once you enter the building, the odor changes, but it still is unpleasant. A bad odor is very concerning in a place that sells food. Came to this place this evening(after work) as I do at least 2/3 times out the week. Went to the deli for a sub. As we all kno" ANY " FOOTLONG SUB IS ON SALE. I asked for a Turkey, bacon and cheese sub. He goes to say, "oh that's extra meat". I asked, how? Then went to say that I've never been told that and I'm there often. The guy continues on with his reasonings. I was lost and confused by this time. So, I let him know that I didn't mind paying for what I wanted. That was just some new info to me. He started going about how not charging affects his bonus pay and this that and the third. I didn't ask him for any of that info. Carried out so bad, he ended up burning up the bacon. I kindly let him know he burned my bacon. He picks it up and look at it. I replied again, "it's burned, I don't want it"... Trying to be nasty and look, bacon turned out to be useless. Hopefully "he's" paying for it, smh. And I doubt that he will. I never want to encounter him ( older, black American guy) again.'Never had that problem with anyone else. Sometimes the line can be extra long or there's been a time when they were out of white bread(but the young guy, took care of that for me)... This guy was rude, too old to carry the situation out like he did. I was fresh off work, tired and all(still in uniform). I had no time for that type energy. I was trying to grab dinner and get home. That's it and that is all. I work in an executive kitchen in Uptown, we please and take care of our customers. I would do the same and give the same energy even if it was QT, Subway and any other place. I ended up purchasing the sub as well as a pack of Oscar Myers fully cooked bacon strips( again I do not mind, paying for what I want). The service and experience was horrible. He needs to stay off front line. Especially tell me, the customer... "If I don't charge, it affects my bonus. Go get who usually serves you and I'll tell them too. See, I don't mind. I, and as you see, several people have posted to Yelp, Facebook and Harris Teeter website, complaining about the poor quality of Uptown Charlotte HT's produce and overall cleanliness of the store. I have personally had to fight off bugs in fruit several times and just stpped buying it at this location. I stopped in Thursday to pick up Canadian bacon and took a glance at the fruit & veggies. Low and behold! Everything was fresh, clean, and organized. I got a bag of grapes that had me smiling like a big fat Cheshire cat. I had to make the self checkout attendant aware of how pleased I was with everything. I know my lone opinion may not matter, but obviously, my and several others opinion mattered enough for them to clean up their act! This is Uptown Charlotte. I popped in here while staying at a nearby hotel for business. I saw they had a salad bar, and read some reviews and figured it was worth a shot. My first impression is that it's a grocery store in NYC. Completely out of place in Charlotte. What I mean is it's pretty cramped, lots of traffic, just not much space which is odd in Charlotte. I did find some good things, such as the salad bar which was set out recently and the offerings were appealing. I did manage to get some things and made my way to the self pay. I'd rather have a human process my items, it's just more friendly and interesting. However it was quickish, as I had to find PLU codes and such. There was quite a bit of security presence in the morning when I visited, which seemed odd to me. The area didn't appear threatening. All in all just an odd experience here. read more

The deli counter is slow as ****. Five people walking around behind the counter (most of whom don't appear to be doing anything) while the lone person at the counter is slow as ****. You shouldn't have to wait 5 - 10 minutes to get some deli meat when there are only one or two people in line ahead of you. I've left the line a couple of times because the wait was so painfully excruciating. I've worked a service counter before, and it's common practice (and common sense) that you clear the counter of customers before you take care of your "busy work" in the back. Serving the customer is always the priority--not sweeping, restocking, or chatting with your coworkers. Harris-Teeter needs to provide better training to their employees and/or hire people who understand how customer service works. read more

Went here today to meat from the meat market. I did not make the purchase due to the gentleman that cuts the meat smells so bad. I am yet to understand why a person with this caliber of odor would be allowed to touch and distribute meat to the customers. I was flabbergasted. Never again. This is my neighborhood grocery store. I thought it was adequate until I went to another location. This store is smaller - maybe because it's in Uptown. It's always difficult to find some of the things I but often - like decaf coffee. Definitely a limited selection store. It's always clean and the wine selection is pretty awesome. I've tried some great ones from there. The pizza "bar" is "meh". Often what's there is not very appetizing. read more

Given the location, this is a great grocery establishment. It seems they are low staff due to stacks of boxes in hallways but I have never not been able to purchase what I came for. There is also a security guard on duty for the late nights which provides a deeper level of security. I will continue to shop here as it is convenient for me where I live. read more

This Harris Teeter is an option for quick and available pickups that you know are in the store. Since it's more of a satellite location, they don't carry all of the products that a larger store would carry. For me, only works for me as a quick pick up store. The parking can be a major hassle at times. There isn't a ton of parking in the attached garage. Sometimes, you may circle twice to find a spot. Otherwise, street parking it is! There is stuff around the store, but most times they are doing other things. Not a huge deal, but noticeable to an extent. read more

I live RIGHT by here and don't drive so when I moved to Charlotte, I thought I'd be golden as far as getting my groceries. Wrong. I either bum rides to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's or I cough up the extra cash to get Prime delivery for Whole Foods rather than coming here. Sounds dumb, right? Here's why: - in the almost year I've lived here, I've encountered two nice employees. The rest have been so rude, short, and eye rolling when I've needed something. - no cashier, only self-checkouts which can be fine but if the machine malfunctions or you're buying alcohol, you need employee assistance and GOD FORBID you interrupt a gossip circle to have an employee process your alcohol purchase while rolling their eyes at you. - selection sucks since it's a small store and, as many have mentioned, fresh food is not fresh. The salmon I got last week tasted very fishy after I cooked it leaving me to wonder how expired the seafood was. -yes, the store does in fact smell like fish all over. And not in a good way. - they're actually more expensive now on most items than Whole Foods. On the plus side, they have a good variety of La Croix flavors, wine, and beer. I'll only come here for La Croix but I'll buy my alcohol from CVS so I don't get a death glare from the employees here. Do better, Harris Teeter. read more

This Harris Teeter is the closest store to me, so it is convenient to grab a couple of basic small items or snacks. Parking is perfect, there's a parking garage in the same building and it's free. It is SUCH a small store that I didn't feel comfortable grabbing a whole cart or I'd be blocking up the whole isle with it. And they don't have any body wash. Their wine selection was GREAT though. Plus they have an upstairs wine selection for imported wines. Staff is nice. read more

I live across the street at the very fancy, but poorly run "luxury tower" that promotes this store as a "convenience". Well, this store is quite the opposite of convenience and down right dangerous. Instead, I drive 4 miles to a clean, safe, well stocked and friendly grocery store. This particular store is a joke. There is so much shoplifting going on here, it has become a magnet for hobos everywhere as the word is out for "free stuff". Things are so completely out of control at this location, that they now have a wait list for beggars standing at the door EVERY TIME I walk my dog past the entrance. Armed guards at the door? They are constantly looking at their cell phone and the Barney Fifes they hire could not stop a 4 year from stealing a pack of gum, let alone the parade of smelly, homeless that walk out with unpaid for beer, wine and snacks to crash in the 4th Ward Park across the street for the night. Why the 3 stars you ask instead of 1 ? I got charged for it eight days ago and he wants them to drive to the store and try and use it - really? My "larger" Harris Teeter did not have naan bread, but they actually had a selection of them here, which was awesome! After reading several reviews, I had to leave one to help those looking for a fair non-biased idea of what to expect, which I didn't find from many of the reviews. Yes, of course it's smaller than avg HT store, it's exactly what you should expect in a Uptown located store, it's very comparable to several groceries in a Downtown location. It's smaller l (compact) in a cute way, & I found the store far exceeding what I expected. I think most people look for specific items, I walked through aisles to see overall how much it offered & my guess is about 80% of options from a larger store. The prices are exactly the same as all HT's. If your looking for cost metic/toiletries it has a smaller selection, & focused on the groceries items. I was surprise it had almost all the same selections but reduced variety (flavors, colors, etc) which they did an amazing job packing so much into so little! As for wine selection is great, & while craft beer selection was smaller it had a couple great options. Parking is typical uptown parking, garage/compact, limited time etc. lots of fresh food, 2 checkout options (front door/garage) with self checkout... I didn't wait. They just changed the hours back from 8pm to 11pm so I'll be back. I think you'll be happy w this store if you keep your expectations that it's the only grocery store aside from Whole Foods in central uptown & had a friendly staff, & since it is compact allows you to get in & out fast! This HT is the odd one of the bunch, by no fault of its own. Uptown just doesn't have all the space for the full-fledged HT experience. What it does offer is a very good selection for the fine people of Forth Ward. Full Deli, Meat/Seafood Counter, all the produce you'd normally find, and even a Hot Bar & Pizza for lunch. These are good, fresh highlights of convenience for such a small store. The dry, non-perishable grocery section is where it starts to get a bit limited. Don't expect to find a ton of speciality items, but its still adequate for your everyday needs. Parking is... Well it's something. Limited is an understatement and they share the lot with businesses in the same block. I would guess there are less than 50 spaces. Take my advice and do not park anywhere marked no-parking. Even if you're only going to be 'just a minute' you stand a good chance of getting towed. This isn't Harris Teeter's fault, the underground lot has strict fire codes and the property manager is covering his ass! Great for stuff in a pinch, I would go to the store on East Blvd if you have the time though. read more

Yikes! People were not kidding about the size! It's more like Half-a-Teeter! So I guess they do an okay job of stocking some more popular items from their full repertoire. The seafood section was still impressive. Plus the beer and wine. Everything else just kind of felt weird - like a convenience store on steroids. All of the check out lanes are self serve but there are attendants who will help check you out/or do it for you. The bathroom was almost blocked off by carts with boxes on them. [Barring an absolute emergency, I will never shop at Caldwell Crossing Harris Teeter again, and to not want harris teeter to reach out about this complaint. This is not my first complaint, so I will recap some below. I was once a valuable "loyalty" customer. , you may have to go far back to see how much I used to spend, it has been decreasing with each additional harris teeter/kroger let down. Pharmacy: The set up is horrible with the extra barriers added due to covid, there is almost zero chance of having a welcoming PRIVATE experience. Just stand at that counter, during busy hours, and see what I mean. I was not greeted for about a full minute, and when I was, there was no eye contact (so I guess she was speaking to me). Finally, she asked my information (again with no eye contact). When I provided my child's info, I was told there is no prescription. I said "I was told yesterday by harris teeter, that it would be ready today". She asked me what I'm here to pick up (Again, stand at that counter and tell me how I can answer that question without announcing it to everyone standing around me.) This exact situation happened previously with a different employee. This is the second time I was asked at harris teeter pharmacy to announce what I was there to pick up. Are there ANY HIPAA COURSES REQUIRED FOR PHARMACY EMPLOYEES. There is a zero chance I could say it loud enough for her to hear, and not have customers also hear me. Advertised items policy: I cannot understand how harris teeter can advertise a product in your sales circular, and then let managers indiscriminately decide to NOT CARRY A SALE ITEM, if it's not selling fast enough. Is the product space for one unflavored Califa non dairy Creamer (which you advertise in your circular), worth more than I spend in your store? That one incident is what sent me to Publix, which carries and regularly has on sale the one product harris teeter refused to carry for a once good vic customer. I hope someone has enough pride in their job, to change the business culture at harris teeter/kroger. All I have left to do, is post my complaint on yelp, which will include what it was like when I worked for harris teeter, when I shopped at the REAL Harris Teeter. The meat and seafood department is poorly lit, poorly stocked, and poorly staffed. The store has no life and no flow. I go to Harris Teeter when I have the time to drive on-island and when I want the assurance of finding what I need without having to read the expiration date on each item before I put in my basket. Happy for this Harris Teeter at Uptown. It has everything one can ask for, and it's like a mini Harris Teeter for it small space. Have to look at circulars for the sale items which are right by the entrance when you walk in the automated doors. Right in front are the wine. Great to grab and go with all the house parties and celebrations that I have been recently invited to. They have good selection of prepared meals and boy do they go fast. The aisles are clean and well maintained. Like the samples they have out for you to try out. Finding parking can be a bit tough. Sometimes driving in circles to find a spot. You will notice that... This location is more compact than many of the Harris Teeters, and the wine section is noticeably smaller than most of the other HT's. I like the way this place is set up. You can whiz through grab a few things to complete a meal but I would refrain from picking up things that may not turn over as quickly as other stuff, which leads to my next point. Do NOT end up making an unfortunate purchase like I did! Take no chances on anything that you can't see clearly and are certain is rotated quickly. I purchased two containers of Gelato that ended up being freezer burnt or either defrosted and refrozen -- not sure. Ended up being high end trash. Service is... Quick and the staff is super friendly and courteous. I went during off peak hours and parking was plentiful. Final Note: Why pay top dollar for items that aren't optimal offerings? I don't live uptown but go to this Teet about once a week since it's so convenient to work. It's the perfect place to go when I have no idea what I want for lunch since you can get subs, soups, sushi and snacks. (yes, I like alliteration) Plus their sushi is as gourmet as you can get for supermarket sushi-whoever the new sushi prepper is is awesome, its so pretty and quite tasty and fresh. They also seem to have a cart in the back of the produce area of produce that is soon going to meet their demise for super cheap so if you are looking for last minute veggies to add to your dinner-check it out. The sub line gets a little long during the work week, especially on Tuesdays when they have $2.99 any six inch sub so I try to go before noon or after 1:30. Ah yes, the "RACIST-TEETER" as it's known in the Fourth Ward... nearly all of the black staff clearly HATES white people, and not shy about showing it. They make the white customers feel unwelcome as they glare at you when you walk in, and as uncomfortable as possible while you're there.  It's entirely self-checkout now, so the employees just stand around busy on their phones, completely ignoring the white customers, while usually quick and pleasant to the blacks. Example: There were two black female employees standing with one of the black security guards (no longer CMPD off-duty) and one of their friends, all in a group playing some kind of video game, while a white customer beside me repeatedly asked for help at the checkout. One of the employees finally took time away from her game-playing to actually do her job, mumbling something about "dis whi [unintelligible]"  A few moments later, a white guy left the store and said "bye" to the cashier, and the other black female employee said to her "don talk to him!" She asked why, and the other said "He WHITE!!!" Now I'm standing about four feet away from them, can hear all this clearly, and they obviously don't care. You ask them a simple question (sometimes twice) and they don't even answer. They make racist slurs to each other about white customers after they exit the store, and they don't care if you hear. The entire store has gotten steadily worse in the seven years since we moved here. The produce section has rotten vegetables, produce on the floor while the produce guy just walks over it, the price signs are missing, the plastic bag dispensers are always empty, and the floor is usually very dirty. It's turned into a ghetto market. All the managers (except for the head guy, I think his name is Blair) act annoyed as hell if you ask them anything. Almost everyone (there are still a couple of exceptions) in the entire store now is rude and ill-mannered, and the white-hating racism is off the charts some days.  This is especially blatant with ALL the new black female employees that come and go, so one can only assume this must be part of the H-T training, either allowed or even encouraged. The ONLY reason we EVER shop there, is we live in the building across the street, so it's super convenient. That said, I would often rather walk over to Whole Foods (what a refreshing difference in their super-nice and helpful staff!), or get in my car and drive over to the Plaza-Midwood or East Blvd store, or Publix on South Blvd... and we aren't the only ones, TRUST ME. Have been going to this Harris teeter for 3 years now and also have bought groceries from Harris teeter all my life. However this location has really gone downhill. Came in for some fruit and 3 different types of fruit had very visible mold and looked rotten(blackberries oranges and lemons). Also fruit flies were everywhere. Pretty disappointing since this is the closest grocery store to where I live. The associates are all very nice and I have never had a problem with customer service but management seems to not take quality of the food very seriously. For those of us who live in the Uptown Area, this is THE place to head to pick up foods and supplies. It's a pretty standard grocery store, but it's great. They've got everything you need, which isn't all that surprising--what else would you expect from a huge store like this? Great selection of fresh produce, some of it locally grown. Incredible selection of beer and wine--usually with some great deals on both. This Harris Teeter also has a popular sandwich bar, with sandwiches made to order, that gets really crowded during lunch time (probably because it's cheap and quick, and pretty high-quality). Pretty decent grocery store sushi area, and a really good selection of meats and fish--especially the fish. Super friendly staff, too--always very helpful. read more
