*** Update...Not too long ago we hosted one of our teen cohorts in Charlotte and I was informed that we had an order to pick up at the Cotswold Publix near Strawberry Hill. I went in with a bit of anxiety because it seemed we simply couldn't get on the same page as the deli and catering staff. I go in, it's busy, there was no one in the pick up area. My anxiety now beginning to grow I stopped a young gentleman, I hate that I didn't get his name (I'll be sure to add it in my next update) but he asked what I was looking for I told him, and it seemed like clock work, another woman showed up and they both locked in. He shared my info with her and they took off in two different directions. Within minutes they simultaneously appeared holding five of the six dishes that were ordered. I was so taken aback at the swift action those two took I didn't notice there was one missing. The young woman counted my containers and was like, Hang On I think there's a cake in this order. She asked a woman in the bakery to check and sure enough a cake appeared for my order. Here's what I appreciate: Concern, assurance, call to action, teamwork, resolve, double checking before I leave...It was an amazing experience. The last two women made sure Inhad everything I needed. Here's what I didn't appreciate, Confusion, blame (each other), attitude, resentment, "Not my problem" I told the trainers that day that they must have remembered me from my review and didn't want me to repost another bad review...and In my mind for a brief moment I pondered, "Maybe they were expecting me, or maybe the words service and teamwork found each other wandering through the cookie aisle and decided that being in service is a gift...What will the customer think when we "GIVE" it... read more

I was preparing for a holiday celebration with my co-workers. I heard so many good things about Publix chicken tenders and chicken. I placed an order via phone. Unfortunately, I went to pick up my order and it was not ready once I arrived. I was not happy, but I did wait. Once I received my order , I paid and went on my merrily way. When I got to my event with tender platter , my co-workers took a bite of tenders which were cold as ice. I was so embarrassed about the presentation of platter. This is not acceptable. Also, I tried to talk with the Deli manager, Eric , but he seems to be on defense side and couldn't locate my order in the system so I decided to give them a review of food and services which was not a positive experience at all. I'm willing drive a little further to go to Publix despite living close to a Harris teeter. Why? It's simple- this store is bigger, has more parking, it's cleaner, and the quality of prepared food far surpasses the aforementioned. The "pub sub" is a quick option for lunch or dinner. The sandwiches are made with soft bread and stuffed with meat and veggies. The service is so quick too! I love the ready made pizza dough here. My husband and I have made a habit of picking some up to prepare quick pizzas on nights we can't cook a full dinner. The buy 1 get 1 deals are an incredible money saver. These deals are sprinkled throughout the store. Service is so friendly! Employees saw me browsing the meat counter and happily asked if I needed help. I have never lived close to a Publix so it wasn't my go to grocery store, however after moving close to this location I find myself here often, based on the price, selection and customer service. This location has always been clean and well stocked and I find myself buying Publix brand items, like their bagels and pickles! Prices are comparable to other grocery stores these days, and they are out of stock of popular items at times, however I feel that is consistent with other stores and the environment these days. Overall, happy to have another grocery store option near me and I do love grabbing a sweet treat from their bakery every once in while, which is what I've always heard one thing people loved about Publix! read more

Being new to the area I was excited to try out Public as I've heard great things. However, I was not impressed. I thought their prices were on the higher end and their selection was not great. The premade selections I've heard are good but were almost nonexistent when I was there. I also wanted to try a sub but the line had a handful of people and was moving at a glacial speed. I'm not from an area where I can go to Publix as often as I would like. So, instead, my husband and I go whenever we are near one. I know it's lame to love a grocery store but we just can't get enough of this place. They are always SO clean, well-stocked, and the workers are friendly every single time. The aisles are large and well-lit, everything is organized, the produce is generally fresh, and the bakery is always phenomenal. The prices are solid, although perhaps a little more expensive than competing discount stores nearby. But that won't stop me. Cheaper than Whole Foods with a similar vibe and sense of care. Overpriced on groceries, hot wings are so good but always out of stock... if I can never buy it that's a big negative to me... what's the use of shopping. And yes I will be blasphemous... Woo hoo, a new Publix! This one is still as good as any of the others I have shopped and includes the usual super deli, great produce and excellent meat areas. The butcher very helpfully offered to cut anything that I would like if they didn't have enough of what I needed today. Much like the Publix on South Blvd, they were very pressed for space so the store is complete with its own parking garage at street level and basement level, with stairs to street level if you want or an elevator that is large enough for full shopping carts. Wide aisles, bright lights, lots of carts with working wheels. Helpful, smiling staff, of course. Directly opposite the Cotswold Harris Teeter, I think the people in this neighborhood are going to see some good competition here. This will be an exciting rivalry and the consumers will benefit. It is a little hard to access when heading towards Sharon Amity. Just drive past the store and make the left on Sharon Amity and then left again on Colwick. read more

The deli is absolutely awful. They can't even cut a sub properly. Half the time you make an online order, they don't even bother making it. The hot food counter is generally shut down by 7:00PM and I've ordered deli meat that's gone completely rotten after 2-3 days. Some employees are great, but they seem to hire mostly mentally handicapped people and, although they do their best, customer service is lacking at times. For the most part, it's okay, but the deli (probably the most important part of the store) needs a ton of work. Also, I often see rotten and decaying vegetables in the produce department. read more

When they first opened, the associates were welcoming and offered to help. Now, they don't say anything. I was there on 7/28 picking up some basics, which included a half dozen eggs. I didn't check the expiration date because I was distracted by several broken eggs. Today, 7/30, I grabbed the carton an noticed the best by date is July 16. Uggh! read more

My husband went to pick up a cake I ordered for my son's birthday party. Came home with this ATROCIOUS looking cake. I IMMEDIATELY went back to the store. The girl at the customer service desk was great but the manager had the nerve to say "we can add some grass to it" the fact that they thought this cake would even be acceptable!! And then the nerve of her thinking grass would make me want to even serve this cake to people!! They wouldn't dare put this cake out to display in their store. Not only is this place overpriced, the customers and the blonde manager suck. I had a really good day leading into a 3 day weekend and needed to stop by to buy dry shampoo and regular shampoo.. I needed to smell a couple before I bought but two complaints were made on me (probably the same Karen) felt the need to go tattle on me about my "excessive spraying". Only 2 people were ever in the aisle with me. Otherwise aisle stayed empty.. The blonde manager of the store walked up behind me with a security guard and said "the spraying needed to cease" in a really rude tone. I wasn't even spraying. I had moved on from that section. The comment wasn't even necessary. If Karen had asked me to politely not spray I would have obliged. Manager- don't be an a**. You're a manager of a grocery' store. Be nice. 1. The blonde manager absolutely sucks. You saw that I wasn't even near the dry shampoo anymore but still felt the need to be a b*tch. I left the store without even getting shampoo with the fear of being judged. 2. If you have a problem with someone how about kindly asking that person something. Nobody likes an a**hole. A nice grocery. Entry & parking is easy. Very nice and helpful staff. The aisles are easy to navigate. Like most grocery stores now they are downsizing the peripheral options like makeup/nails etc... we've all noticed... And I'm ok with it. The prices are good and I love that there are plenty of different eating plan options including keto. I grew up in Florida and missed Publix' when I left. After months of construction this giant Publix opened across the street from my usual Harris Teeter. I've never seen a Publix on the 2nd floor. The reason obviously is parking because this area is so congested. You enter ground level parking just as you pull in. If that's full there is a basement level. Take the elevator or stairs to get to the 2F shopping level. I was surprised they didn't install an escalator between ground and shopping. But that's my only complaint about the building. It's spanking new and is built like a fortress. This sucker looks like it could survive a hurricane an earthquake and a tsunami at the same time. I grew up on Publix so of course I'm biased. I prefer their store layout over Harris Teeter. The Mexican and Sriracha hot sauce is right next to all the other hot sauces. To me that makes sense. I'm not worried about some other countries' food contaminating everything else on the shelf. And I hate having to walk back and forth to find what should already be organized in the same aisle. So that's where my assumptions about bad organization at H.T. come from. At the check out aisle I always request paper instead of plastic bags. One thing I don't like is their paper bags. If I only get a few things one of their bags is fine. But there are no handles! I like having handles and I tend to buy a lot once or twice a week. So I'd rather be able to lug it all out in my hands and not take a shopping cart down the elevator from 2F. So I bought a couple of their reusable grocery bag-totes that they sell on the end caps of the check out aisles. OK I bought 5. Paying for bags is a nuisance and I have to remember to get them out of my trunk every time. But it solved the problem. Meat is a lot cheaper and better looking than other stores, even better than Whole Foods and Earth Fare IMHO. Vegetables are better taken care of in transit. They don't arrive all beat up. I also like Publix's house brand items. They're cheap and taste good. I grew up eating them right next to everything Campbell's. Like I said I'm biased but I hope you give it a try. Staff is trained to be friendly and informative so if you can't find something just ask. I do all the time. read more

I waited to write the review to see if there would be a change months after the store opened and no! This place is consistently clean, it's well lit, and the staff are nice. They have a great customer service policy. Anytime I shop here I feel welcome. They have great deals. They have a program where you can get coupons in the mail if you desire. They have a covered parking area where the parking spaces are spacious. They typically have someone in the fresh produce or bakery area giving out tasty treats. It's near an outdoor shopping area ( across the street). I recommend and will return. This is a great place to shop and if they don't have an item you like they can order it! Came back 15 minutes later and still 6 people waiting in line including one that was there earlier. Went to service desk and mentioned the problem and was met with blank stares. Publix, hands down, is the best grocery store to shop at. I recently went to this location during my lunch, which the only downfall was trying to turn into the store lot, due to the chick fi la drive thru line that continues onto the street. The store was very nice, clean, and organized like always. Staff was pleasure and courteous. I went for the deli and shrimp from the seafood department. Awful. As someone who really likes sub sandwiches, I really wanted to like Publix. The neighboring Harris Teeter makes an incredible sandwich, and is somewhere I've been frequenting for years (though the customer service at the Cotswold Harris Teeter is equally awful). I tried two sandwiches at this Publix location. The chicken sausage and the chicken tenders sub. Neither were worth their weight, even on special. The bread is flavorless, both white and wheat. The produce the same, even the jalapeños devoid of any real flavor. The chicken tenders I found mushy and lacking any real seasoning. Overall, the sandwiches were a very disappointing experience. Combined with the fact that you often wait upwards of 10-15 minutes with the slow service, you're really better off going somewhere else. What a shame. Bold move to build this location directly in front of HT.... Store is clean, wide aisles make it easy to push the cart, and it's still so new that it seemed like more people were working than shopping. Staff seem eager to help, just need customers! It was nice not fighting for parking or feeling crowded across the street at the HT. My biggest con is the produce section: I found it very difficult to shop for organic foods. They're mixed in with regular produce and not well marked. Also, the wine and beer sections are not as robust as HT. Prices seemed more reasonable on alcohol than HT, and without the markup then sale method of HT. Good opportunity to shop the sales of each store across from one another. read more

Wine prices are absolutely not competitive with HT, the French or Italian bread are sub-par, imported cheese prices are high. In general, I was not impressed with the price/quality rapport at all. I had ordered salmon scampi cook in bag dinners online, but they had not received my order. I was not a fan of the chain when I was living in Florida. I really missed The Teeter. But I did miss some of the best fried chicken anywhere when I moved back. Teeter not even close and the Subs are also a step or two above also. But this location is just beautiful. It has indoor parking and you take yourself and cart to the sales level by elevator. Pretty cool. It's bright, clean, and very friendly. I've been to the Teeter across the street and while a good one they will, need to step-up their game. read more

Their subs are incredible and their staff is fast and friendly. I had started driving all the way to The Fresh Market and Whole Foods because Harris Teeter's produce and meat department has just gone downhill since they were gobbled up by Kroger. Now there is finally a solid grocery store in the area again. Big fan of the new Publix. Employee-owned, good fresh food and produce, one stop shop. read more
