I'm not from an area where I can go to Publix as often as I would like. So, instead, my husband and I go whenever we are near one. I know it's lame to love a grocery store but we just can't get enough of this place. They are always SO clean, well-stocked, and the workers are friendly every single time. The aisles are large and well-lit, everything is organized, the produce is generally fresh, and the bakery is always phenomenal. The prices are solid, although perhaps a little more expensive than competing discount stores nearby. But that won't stop me. Cheaper than Whole Foods with a similar vibe and sense of care. Again, I know it's a grocery store...but I love going to any Publix.

Woo hoo, a new Publix! This one is still as good as any of the others I have shopped and includes the usual super deli, great produce and excellent meat areas. The butcher very helpfully offered to cut anything that I would like if they didn't have enough of what I needed today. Much like the Publix on South Blvd, they were very pressed for space so the store is complete with its own parking garage at street level and basement level, with stairs to street level if you want or an elevator that is large enough for full shopping carts. Wide aisles, bright lights, lots of carts with working wheels. Helpful, smiling staff, of course. Directly opposite the Cotswold Harris Teeter, I think the people in this neighborhood are going to see some good competition here. This will be an exciting rivalry and the consumers will benefit. It is a little hard to access when heading towards Sharon Amity. Just drive past the store and make the left on Sharon Amity and then left again on Colwick.

    Expired eggs

When they first opened, the associates were welcoming and offered to help. Now, they don't say anything. I was there on 7/28 picking up some basics, which included a half dozen eggs. I didn't check the expiration date because I was distracted by several broken eggs. Today, 7/30, I grabbed the carton an noticed the best by date is July 16. Uggh!

    What I ordered

My husband went to pick up a cake I ordered for my son's birthday party. Came home with this ATROCIOUS looking cake. I IMMEDIATELY went back to the store. The girl at the customer service desk was great but the manager had the nerve to say "we can add some grass to it" the fact that they thought this cake would even be acceptable!! And then the nerve of her thinking grass would make me want to even serve this cake to people!! They wouldn't dare put this cake out to display in their store. The only reason I'm even giving 2 stars is because of the girl at the customer service desk. As soon as she saw the cake she already knew what I was there for and she was very sweet.

    Look what's @publix #wholefoods $4.89.

The guy continues on with his reasonings. I was lost and confused by this time. So, I let him know that I didn't mind paying for what I wanted. That was just some new info to me. He started going about how not charging affects his bonus pay and this that and the third. I didn't ask him for any of that info. Carried out so bad, he ended up burning up the bacon. I kindly let him know he burned my bacon. He picks it up and look at it. I replied again, "it's burned, I don't want it"... Trying to be nasty and look, bacon turned out to be useless. Hopefully "he's" paying for it, smh. And I doubt that he will. I never want to encounter him ( older, black American guy) again.'Never had that problem with anyone else. Sometimes the line can be extra long or there's been a time when they were out of white bread(but the young guy, took care of that for me)... This guy was rude, too old to carry the situation out like he did. I was fresh off work, tired and all(still in uniform). I had no time for that type energy. I was trying to grab dinner and get home. That's it and that is all. I work in an executive kitchen in Uptown, we please and take care of our customers. I would do the same and give the same energy even if it was QT, Subway and any other place. I ended up purchasing the sub as well as a pack of Oscar Myers fully cooked bacon strips( again I do not mind, paying for what I want). The service and experience was horrible. He needs to stay off front line. Especially tell me, the customer... "If I don't charge, it affects my bonus. Go get who usually serves you and I'll tell them too. See, I don't mind. They must not know"... ... Pissed me off, so UNPROFESSIONAL. I'm sure the few who were behind me in line heard him also. They ended up walking away.

Shopping experience was really nice as it always is at Whole Foods. This location seemed smaller and the employees definitely do a ton of shopping for pick up orders so that could get in your way. Items are often out of stock, and it's not always predictable what will or won't be available, which makes it hard to rely on for regular shopping. The takeaway bar can also be hit or miss--many times items are unavailable, and when they are, some of the hot bar items can be on the dry side. The cut fruit has also been inconsistent--either underripe or overripe, with very little in between. Overall, great quality when everything is stocked and fresh, but consistency (both inventory and prepared items) needs improvement.

The store lay out is like a jig saw puzzle. In no way does it follow the layout of all the other stores I've been to. The WORST part is the entry/exit and parking. Most every time I've been, there is always a near miss with someone pushing a cart with everything but groceries in the driveway entrance/exit. The most recent experience is why I finally decided to post this review as a WARNING. Beware, there are people who act as though they are trying to get hit. You can draw your own conclusions as to why but it's a fact. Yesterday, this person is approaching the entry crossing pushing a cart. I'm making a right turn off Central into the lot. We make eye contact, they stop as I inch closer into the entry way...then they STOP right in the middle of the crossing and act like they are pulling up their PANTS off the ground. There are vehicles behind me on the horn because they can't see what's going on. It's a highly dense, intense traffic location. On every side there are pedestrians, cyclers, dog walkers and people pushing carriages.
